Capt. Adam Van Gerpen, public information officer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department, told reporters that out of the 30 injured, 23 were transported to medical facilities. Van Gerpen also confirmed that one person with a gunshot wound was taken for treatment. It is unclear if this was the driver. The LAFD said seven patients were in critical condition, six were in serious condition, and 19 were in fair condition. Additionally, seven patients refused transport. At approximately 2:00 a.m. local time, LAFD personnel were dispatched to what Van Gerpen called a “large, chaotic scene.” A “large group of people” were standing outside of a club when a vehicle rammed into them. According to reports, a line of people, the majority of whom were women, were waiting to enter the nightclub when they were struck by a vehicle. The drive apparently also hit a taco truck and a valet stand, according to the Associated Press. Officials responded to a call of shots fired at about 2 a.m. and discovered a chaotic scene in East Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. One person was removed from a nearby business, who was determined to be the driver of a vehicle that ran into the crowd, Officer Jay Chaves told USA TODAY. Investigators learned that bystanders became involved in a “physical altercation” with the driver, who was shot. About seven people were in critical condition, six were in serious condition and 10 were in fair condition, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement. At least seven others who were injured were not transported to hospitals for treatment, the fire department said. Chaves said 15 were transported to hospitals. The event happened at around 2 PM and was broadcast on both KTLA and ABC as federal agents detained more than a dozen workers at Ambiance Apparel. This massive apparel company boasts being one of the largest West Coast suppliers of fashion resources to retailers worldwide, with a branch in China as well. Instagram users are already flooding the company’s Instagram with comments denouncing the raid. The mass raid was just one of many reported to take place today in Los Angeles. Earlier today, a northeast Los Angeles-based Instagram account posted a video showing more than a dozen armed agents walking up the sidewalk at The Home Depot, located at 2055 N. Figueroa St. More than a dozen migrants were reportedly detained there. ABC News confirmed this second raid earlier in the day. Daily Mail has more details: The new study specifically examined how the vaccine affected patients’ corneas, the clear front part of the eye that allows light to enter. In 64 people, scientists in Turkey measured changes in the cornea’s inner layer, called the endothelium, before taking the first Pfizer dose and two months after receiving the second. Results revealed that taking both doses of the vaccine led to thicker corneas, fewer endothelial cells in the eye and more variation in size of these specialized cells that form the endothelium. In the short term, these changes suggest the Pfizer vaccine may temporarily weaken the endothelium, even though patients didn’t suffer clear vision problems during the study. For people with healthy eyes, these small changes likely won’t affect vision right away. However, if scientists find that these changes last for years, they could lead to corneal swelling or blurry vision, especially in those with pre-existing eye problems or people who have had a cornea transplant. A thicker cornea and reduced cell density could contribute to eye conditions like corneal edema, bullous keratopathy, or corneal decompensation, which can all cause permanent vision loss in severe cases, especially if left untreated. He is now forced to wear an ankle monitor and banned from contacting foreign leaders or using social media. Supreme Court Justice Moraes was the one who issued those restrictions. Reuters has more: Bolsonaro was banned from contacting foreign officials, using social media or approaching embassies, according to the decision issued by Moraes, who cited a “concrete possibility” of him fleeing the country. His home was raided by federal police and he had an ankle monitor placed on him. In an interview with Reuters at his party’s headquarters on Friday, Bolsonaro called Moraes a “dictator” and described the latest court orders as acts of “cowardice.” “I feel supreme humiliation,” he said, when asked how he felt about wearing the ankle monitor. “I am 70 years old, I was president of the republic for four years.” Bolsonaro denied any plans to leave the country, but said he would meet with Trump if he could get access to his passport, which police seized last year. He also said he had sought out the top U.S. diplomat in Brazil to discuss Trump’s tariff threat. Asked about Bolsonaro’s comments to Reuters, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said on Friday, citing previous comments from Trump, “Bolsonaro and his supporters are under attack from a weaponized court system.” In his decision, Moraes said the restrictions against Bolsonaro were due to accusations that the former president was making efforts to get the “head of state of a foreign nation” to interfere in Brazilian courts, which the judge cast as an attack on national sovereignty. Bolsonaro is on trial before Brazil’s Supreme Court on charges of plotting a coup to stop President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from taking office in January 2023. Trump has in recent weeks pressed Brazil to stop the legal case against Bolsonaro, saying that his ally was the victim of a “witch hunt”. The U.S. president said last week he would impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods from August 1, in a letter that opened with criticism of the Bolsonaro trial. Last night, President Trump called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to release all relevant Grand Jury transcripts from Epstein’s 2019 trial. The DOJ said it will work with prosecutors to redact all victim names and personal identifying information from the transcripts before any release. “Transparency in this process will not be at the expense of our obligation under the law to protect victims,” the motion assured. So, it’s not going to happen overnight. But, it’s good to see Bondi get the ball rolling. CBS News has more: The Justice Department filed a request to unseal grand jury transcripts related to Epstein’s 2019 child sex trafficking charges in New York, which ended when Epstein died in custody later that year. It also petitioned for the release of grand jury transcripts in the case against Ghislaine Maxwell, who in 2021 was convicted of conspiring with Epstein, and said it will ask a South Florida court to release transcripts. Epstein was initially investigated by federal authorities in Florida in the 2000s, which ended in a federal non-prosecution agreement and a guilty plea on state prostitution charges. The judges overseeing the cases will be the final decision-makers as to whether and how much of the grand jury documents can be released. If the judges do grant the government’s requests to unseal the material, it’s unlikely to be immediately available, and it could be weeks or months before the records are unsealed. Federal rules typically require matters before a grand jury to be kept secret. This is a step in the right direction. Hopefully, it will lead to the release of all the Epstein files… Your thoughts?

Former Democrat Representative of Missouri William (Bill) Lacy Clay Sr. has passed away. Rep. Clay died on Wednesday at the age of 94. Clay served 16 terms in the House and during his tenure he was one of the founding members of the Congressional Black Caucus. Politico had more details to share on Rep. Clay: Former Rep. Bill Clay Sr. (D-Mo.), one of the 13 founding members of the Congressional Black Caucus and an icon in Missouri’s civil rights movement, died this week, the CBC said. “Congressman Clay helped build the CBC into a force for equity and accountability in American Democracy,” caucus Chair Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.) said Thursday in a press statement. “As a member of Congress, he was a fierce defender of labor rights, education and social justice.” Clay was 94. Clay became Missouri’s first Black congressman when St. Louis voters elected him in 1968. He entered the House alongside two other Black lawmakers, former Reps. Louis Stokes (D-Ohio) and Shirley Chisholm (D-N.Y.) The trio helped launch the Congressional Black Caucus several years later in 1971. Former Rep. He gradually adjusted his political focus and rhetoric to match his slightly less Black and more conservative district, but his voting record remained decidedly liberal.
