Starfield's massive galaxy has many planets and areas that are specifically created for players to explore‚ usually being tied to specific quests. Beyond those areas‚ much of Starfield is procedurally generated and will be very randomized for every player and every playthrough.

Starfield's galaxy quickly opens up and gives players the ability to travel just about anywhere‚ with the only thing holding them back is how far their current ship's engine can take them. While so much of Starfield revolves around free-roaming‚ it may be a surprise to many when the space station SY-920 can't be entered.
