Rand Paul Goes Full Bore Against Nikki Haley: No ‘Libertarian Or Conservative’ Should Vote For Her

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) launched a campaign against Republican presidential candidate and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley on Friday‚ declaring that she “would be wrong for our country.” Paul made the announcement after he teased out on Thursday that he was going to potentially endorse one of the remaining Republican presidential candidates. Instead‚ Paul said that he liked the current frontrunner‚ former President Donald Trump‚ and the “fiscal conservatism” of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. He also said that he liked Vivek Ramaswamy’s voice‚ and he even liked some of things that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was saying. The senator unveiled a new website‚ NeverNikki.net‚ where he listed multiple reasons why he believes that Republicans‚ conservatives‚ and libertarians should oppose her. In an interview with Politico‚ Paul said that he felt the need to expose people “fully” to her record before she has the opportunity to “gain any traction” once voting starts. Paul said that he was open to hitting the trail to campaign against her and he was willing to spend money to run political ads against her. “I’m absolutely dead certain Nikki Haley would be wrong for our country‚” Paul said in the interview. “And I do have some voice. I want to make sure my voice is heard.” As I look over the GOP candidates for President‚ I don’t yet have a first choice. But I do know one thing: count me in as #NeverNikki! Amid Nationwide Doctor Shortage‚ Canada Turns To DIY Pap Smears

Canada is asking people to do their own pap smears at home as the country copes with a nationwide doctor shortage. This week‚ British Columbia launched Canada’s first “cervix self-screening program” and encouraged citizens to order pap smear test kits to test for cervical cancer at home. Starting January 29‚ women or “individuals with a cervix” ages 25 to 69 can order a “quick‚ easy and highly accurate test kit” to test for cervical cancer at home‚ the province’s health ministry said in a news release on Tuesday. “It’s not every day that a province can set an achievable goal of eliminating a deadly cancer‚ but today’s launch of the first at-home self-screening program means ending deadly cervical cancer in British Columbia is a now a very real possibility‚” Premier David Eby said. The announcement comes as Canada’s health care system suffers from a severe doctor shortage‚ especially in family medicine. More than six million Canadians do not have a family doctor — in some provinces as many as one in three people‚ surveys show. Eby said this “more accurate‚ comfortable and convenient” way to test will encourage “vulnerable populations” like trans-identifying people to get screened. Some Canadians‚ especially in populous areas like Toronto‚ have waited years to be assigned to a family doctor by their provincial governments. “We have a full-blown health-care crisis on our hands‚” said Dr. Mekalai Kumanan‚ president of the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP)‚ which represents 15‚000 doctors in the area. Critics blame government red tape‚ saying there are actually plenty of doctors in Canada‚ but they are unable to get licensed. As many as 13‚000 medical doctors in Canada are not practicing because they have not done the required two-year residency. Critics also say province governments restrict the number of residency spots‚ and medical schools turn away doctors who were trained abroad rather than at a Canadian medical school. About 90% of all residencies are reportedly reserved for Canadian medical graduates‚ and doctors trained abroad have to compete for the remainder. However‚ some of the residencies for Canadians do not even end up getting filled because Canadian doctors are not interested. “The Canadian public should be entitled to the best qualified Canadian applicant‚” Rosemary Pawliuk‚ president of the Society for Canadians Studying Medicine Abroad‚ said last year. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “Whether they’ve graduated from a Canadian school or an international school‚ whether they’re a Canadian by birth or if they’re an immigrant‚ they should be competing on individual merit‚” she said. At least one medical school has tried to help by running a family medicine program that shepherds medical students directly into residency spots. To solve the crisis‚ Canada would need thousands more doctors to get licensed‚ but so far‚ the system has seen little change. Got a tip worth investigating? ‘Rooms Are Very Cold’: Kevin Hart Says He Won’t Ever Host Oscars

Kevin Hart made it crystal clear he will never host the Oscars and said the days of comedians taking those gigs are over because they aren’t “comedy friendly environments anymore.” During the 44-year-old comedian’s appearance on Sky News‚ a reporter asked Hart about stepping down as host of the Academy Awards five years ago and if fans could ever expect to see him take on the gig again. “No‚ absolutely not‚” Hart said. “Let’s just throw that hope right out the window right now. Whatever level of hope you have‚ I want to destroy it right now. No‚ not at all.” “Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics‚” he added. “It’s no shot to the Oscars‚ the Globes or anything. Those just aren’t comedy friendly environments anymore.” Kevin Hart says there’s absolutely no chance he will ever host the Oscars‚ labelling award show gigs as “very cold” and not “comedy friendly environments” Read more🔗https://t.co/JVDTFRY04I — Sky News (@SkyNews) January 12‚ 2024 “The days of it being a room for a comic‚ those days are done‚” Hart continued. “There’s a lot of people who understand it. But if you’re not an industry comic‚ meaning a comic who has the relationship of all‚ then those rooms are very cold. … It’s not the gig that it was of old.” Hart said kudos to those who have been able to do it‚ mentioning people like Chris Rock and comedian Ricky Gervais‚ but said he thought there was too much pressure now on what is and is not considered a joke. The “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” star had previously been picked to host the Oscars in 2019‚ but ended up stepping down after he was told by the Academy to apologize over past tweets and jokes from stand-up shows years earlier that had resurfaced‚ or he won’t be the host. “My team calls me‚ ‘Oh my God‚ Kevin‚ everyone’s upset by tweets you did years ago‚'” Hart said in a video on Instagram at the time. “Guys‚ I’m nearly 40 years old. If you don’t believe that people change‚ grow‚ evolve as they get older‚ I don’t know what to tell you. If you want to hold people in a position where they always have to justify the past‚ do you. I’m the wrong guy‚ man.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “I chose to pass on the apology‚” he added in a second video. “The reason why I passed is because I’ve addressed this several times. This is not the first time this has come up. I’ve addressed it. I’ve spoken on it. I’ve said where the rights and wrongs were. I’ve said who I am now versus who I was then. I’ve done it. I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old when I’ve moved on and I’m in a completely different place in my life.” In a later tweet‚ Hart announced that he had stepped down from hosting so he wouldn’t be a distraction and wrote‚ “I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.”

Oregon Supreme Court Shoots Down Challenge Seeking To Remove Trump From Ballot

The Oregon Supreme Court declined on Friday to take up a challenge seeking to remove former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 primary and general election ballots. The challenge to Trump’s ballot eligibility was brought by five Oregon voters who want the former president disqualified from the ballot‚ citing the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution‚ Fox 12 reported. “Today’s decision in Oregon was the correct one‚” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement. “President Trump urges the swift dismissal of all remaining‚ bad-faith‚ election interference 14th Amendment ballot challenges.” The attempt to disqualify Trump in Oregon came amid a bevy of ballot challenges facing his campaign‚ including the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision last month to take the former president off the ballot. Trump quickly appealed Colorado’s decision‚ and last week‚ the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to take up the case. In her order on Friday‚ Oregon Chief Justice Meagan Flynn pointed to the Colorado case and left the door open for the challenge to Trump’s ballot qualification in Oregon to be filed again depending on the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision‚ the Statesman Journal reported. Oregon Secretary of State LaVonne Griffin-Valade‚ a Democrat‚ said in November that she does not have the authority to take Trump off the ballot. “Oregon law does not give me the authority to determine the qualifications of candidates in a presidential primary‚” Griffin-Valade said. “I will follow our usual process and expect to put Donald Trump on the primary ballot unless a court directs me otherwise.” Griffin-Valade’s conclusion was the opposite of Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows‚ another Democrat‚ who announced last month that Trump was disqualified from the state’s ballot. Trump has also appealed Bellows’ decision‚ calling her a “biased decision maker.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “The secretary should have recused herself due to her bias against President Trump‚ as demonstrated by a documented history of prior statements prejudging the issue presented‚” Trump’s lawyers said in their appeal to the Maine Superior Court. The Supreme Court’s decision in the Colorado case will likely have implications for multiple states as groups of voters in Illinois and Massachusetts are also seeking to remove Trump from the ballot. The high court will begin oral arguments on February 8‚ just a few weeks before presidential primaries in Colorado‚ Maine‚ Massachusetts‚ and Illinois. Trump will remain on the ballot in Colorado unless the Supreme Court rules against him.
