Screen time is both a cause and symptom of kids’ bad behavior, according to new research

Does your child not listen to you? Do they kick and scream when they get angry? You may need to rethink their screen time, according to an article published Monday in Psychological Bulletin, a journal of the American Psychological Association. The more time kids spent looking at a screen, the more likely their actions and feelings didn’t meet expectations for their stage of development, according to a meta-analysis of 117 studies of kids younger than 10½ when the research began.

Tucker Carlson and the Reverse-Munich Phenomenon

Tucker Carlson on Wednesday night took aim at Mark Levin, claiming in a rant on X that Levin had visited the White House and was “lobbying for war with Iran.” There are a lot of dishonest and preposterous claims made in the post, and obviously Levin is more than capable of defending himself. But to give you an idea of how ridiculous he is being, Carlson wrote that Levin had “no plans to fight in this or any other war.” The “chicken hawk” argument is always a diversion, because it...

Newsom brands Trump a ‘dictator’ after National Guard deployed

California Governor Gavin Newsom accused US President Donald Trump of acting like a “dictator” by sending the National Guard into Los Angeles to quell protests. It marks the first time that federal troops have been deployed on domestic soil against the wishes of state authorities since the 1960s. Police officers clashed with crowds Sunday, the third day of protests sparked by border authorities’ raids on suspected undocumented migrants.

China, US officials to talk trade in London on Monday

United States and Chinese officials will be in London, England on Monday, June 9, to talk about the trade dispute between the two countries. President Donald Trump said on Truth Social Thursday, June 5, that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer will be there on America’s side. In his Truth Social post, Trump said he had a “very good phone call” with Chinese President Xi Jinping “discussing some...

The Quiet Unraveling of the Man Who Almost Killed Trump

Thomas Crooks was acting strangely. Sometimes he danced around his bedroom late into the night. Other times, he talked to himself with his hands waving around. These unusual behaviors intensified last summer, after he graduated with high honors from a community college. He also visited a shooting range, grew out his thin brown hair and searched online for “major depressive disorder” and “depression crisis.” His father noticed the shift — mental health problems ran in the family. On the...

Why Did the Liberal Justices Write Unanimous Conservative Rulings at the Supreme Court?

The Supreme Court handed down three blockbuster rulings Thursday focused on hot-button cultural issues, and all three of them went in the conservative direction. That’s not exactly a surprise—the court has a conservative majority, after all. The first real surprise was that the rulings were unanimous. The second real surprise? Each of the court’s three liberal justices wrote one of the opinions. Justice Elena Kagan, a Barack Obama appointee, wrote the opinion in Smith &...

Stop Posting, and Start Legislating—A Message to the GOP from Gen Z

We remember. We remember the Paul Ryan years. We remember the lofty promises, the press conferences with tax cut charts, the selfies with Trump in the Roosevelt Room. And we remember the disappointment—because when Republicans controlled the House, Senate, and White House, barely anything bold got done. The border wasn't secured. Obamacare wasn't repealed. The swamp wasn't drained. The only thing that moved quickly was the clock—and opportunity slipped away. The bills stalled...

Trump Administration Makes New Federal Employees Write Essays to Prove MAGA Loyalty

While the first four months of President Donald Trump’s second term have been characterized by mass layoffs and hiring freezes, the government is about to start accepting new employees — with one major new requirement. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management laid out the guidelines for hopeful applicants in a May 29 memo. In keeping with Trump’s rejection of diversity, equity and inclusion hiring practices, the memo stresses that the “Merit Hiring Plan” focuses...
