Watchin' one of my all-time favorite shows on DVD.
My favorite Westerns were, on TV, this one first, Raw Hide with Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates, an' Alias Smith & Jones.
On film, well, it's ALWAYS been Eastwood. I mean, c'mon! The surprise, though, might be WHAT Western film of his is my fav. An' it's not "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" trilogy, although that series comes next.
Nope. It's...."High Plains Drifter". That film captivated me from the moment I saw it on late night TV in the early '70s. An' it still does.
It takes Eastwood's "The Man With No Name" into the really dark Vengeance as specter realm that the TGTBTU trilogy an' other "Man With No Name" films only vaguely hinted at at most.
Back to the show at hand. The Wild Wild West had a great combination of the western, the '60s spy genre, an' a bit of the sci-fi an' macabre to it. Plus, just great characters an' actors, three of which can NOT go unnamed.
Robert Conrad as Jim West. Ross Martin as his fellow Secret Service agent Artemus Gordon. An' arguably the best villain on TV ever, the highly underrated an' much lamented Michael Dunn, whose extraordinarily intelligent an' clever Dr. Meguelito Loveless was to West an' Gordon what Professor Moriarty is to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.
Ok. Back to the show. ???
