Alaska Airlines receives initial $160M from Boeing after mid-flight panel blowout additional compensation expected

Boeing paid Alaska Airlines $160 million following the mid-flight door panel blowout incident that occurred earlier this year‚ the airline stated on Thursday.In a recent United States Securities and Exchange Commission filing‚ Alaska Airlines reported that Boeing provided the ";initial compensation ... to address the financial damages incurred as a result of Flight 1282 and the 737-9 MAX groundings.";In January‚ Flight 1282 experienced a mid-air door panel blowout that forced the plane to make an emergency landing. Multiple investigations were launched as a result of the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration briefly grounded 171 Max 9 airplanes while inspections were underway‚ causing thousands of flight cancelations.A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board found that all four bolts designed to secure the panel in place were missing from the aircraft. Records revealed that before the plane was delivered to Alaska Airlines‚ it underwent rivet repairs that required the panel to be temporarily removed and reinstalled upon completion. The repair work was completed by Spirit AeroSystems‚ a former Boeing subsidiary‚ before the aircraft was returned to Boeing';s Renton‚ Washington‚ facility. The NTSB continues to investigate the incident. The Department of Justice also launched its own investigation.Alaska Airlines'; SEC filing stated that the company lost approximately $160 million in the first quarter of 2024 due to the mandatory grounding of some of its Boeing planes.";As a result of the Flight 1282 accident and the Boeing 737-9 MAX grounding‚ we lost approximately $160 million in Q1 pretax profit‚ primarily comprising lost revenues‚ costs due to irregular operations‚ and costs to restore our fleet to operating service‚"; the airline wrote.Boeing paid Alaska Airlines the compensation in cash during the first quarter. ";This cash payment is equivalent to the lost profits resulting from the accident and grounding in Q1 2024. Additional compensation is expected to be provided beyond Q1‚ the complete terms of which are confidential‚"; it added.Boeing referred to statements made last month by CFO Brian West when contacted for comment‚ ABC News reported. During the Bank of America Industrials Conference‚ West remarked that there will be ";customer consideration that is going to manifest itself in the quarter.";";We';ve got to take care of that and we';re well down the road to do that. And we continue to stand behind our customers with that responsibility‚"; West added.The mid-flight panel blowout ignited a safety scandal for Boeing‚ prompting a management shake-up. In February‚ Boeing removed Ed Clark‚ the head of its 737 Max program. In March‚ it announced that CEO Dave Calhoun would leave the company at the end of the year. Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stan Deal announced his immediate retirement last month. Larry Kellner‚ board chairman‚ is set to resign and not seek re-election in May.Last week‚ Calhoun stated‚ ";The eyes of the world are on us‚ and I know that we will come through this moment a better company.";";We will remain squarely focused on completing the work we have done together to return our company to stability after the extraordinary challenges of the past five years‚ with safety and quality at the forefront of everything that we do‚"; he said.Like Blaze News? Dwayne ';The Rock'; Johnson declares he won';t endorse Biden in 2024 election over big regret he had in supporting him in 2020

Dwayne ";The Rock"; Johnson proclaimed that he wouldn';t be endorsing President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election a stark contrast to when the 51-year-old Hollywood actor pledged all of his support to Biden and Kamala Harris in 2020. In a Fox News interview‚ Johnson said that he regretted endorsing Biden in 2020 because it caused ";an incredible amount of division in our country.";";The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was one I thought was the best decision for me at that time‚"; Johnson told host Will Cain in an interview released on Friday. ";I thought‚ ';I';m in this position where I have some influence‚ and I felt it was my job then to exercise my influence [and] share: This is who Im going to endorse.';"; he said.";I was then the most-followed man in the world‚ and am today‚ and I appreciate that but what that caused was something that tears me up in my guts which is division. That got me‚"; the massively popular celebrity continued. ";I didnt realize that then; I just felt like there was a lot of unrest‚ and Id like things to calm down.Johnson stressed‚ ";The takeaway after that was it caused an incredible amount of division. I realize now‚ going into this election‚ I will not do that. My goal is to bring this country together. I believe in that.";The former WWE wrestler declared that there ";will be no endorsement"; in the 2024 presidential election‚ which seemingly will be between Biden and former President Donald Trump.Johnson noted that he would instead keep his politics to himself because of the ";level of influence"; that he possesses. He added‚ ";It is between me and the ballot box.";The Rock revealed‚ ";But I will tell you this: Like a lot of us out there‚ not trusting of all politicians‚ I do trust the American people and whoever they vote for that is my president and who I will support 100 percent.";When asked if he was content with the state of the country at the moment‚ Johnson replied‚ ";Today';s cancel culture‚ woke culture‚ division‚ etcetera that really bugs me. In the spirit of that‚ you either succumb to that and be what other people want you to be‚ or you be yourself and be real. And that might make people upset and piss people off‚ and thats OK.Cain also asked Johnson if he ever plans on running for president‚ and he responded‚ ";No‚ thats not my intention. Im not a politician."; An exclusive interview with Dwayne ';The Rock'; Johnson | Will Cain Show www.youtube.com Ahead of the 2020 presidential election‚ Johnson not only endorsed Biden but interviewed him and Harris in a video that was promoted by the Biden campaign. ";As a political independent and centrist for many years‚ I';ve voted for Democrats in the past and as well as Republicans‚"; Johnson said in the video posted on several social media platforms in September 2020. ";In this critical election‚ I believe Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the best to lead our country‚ and as my first ever (public) presidential endorsement‚ I proudly endorse them for the presidential office of our United States.";Johnson praised Biden and Harris as both ";experienced to lead."; He also described Harris as a ";certified badass."; The endorsement video racked up more than 4.4 million views on Facebook and over 8 million views on Instagram. In an interview with Joe Rogan in November‚ The Rock said he has friends who support Biden and others who rally around Trump. However‚ Rogan got Johnson to acknowledge that his friends really don';t support Biden‚ but rather the Democratic Party.Like Blaze News? Scary: White Houses Ukraine/NATO promise risks WORLD WAR with Russia

Bidens secretary of state‚ Antony Blinken‚ has promised that Ukraine will join NATO even if it means war.";Ukraine will become a member of NATO. Our purpose at the summit is to help build a bridge to that membership‚"; Blinken told reporters.That simple statement could be disastrous‚ as Ukraine joining NATO is one of the main reasons Russia gave for starting a war.Glenn Beck is in disbelief.The one thing they didnt want us to do was to push for Ukraine to be in NATO‚ and so the goal of this big global conference in Europe yesterday was to put Ukraine in NATO‚ Glenn says.Were in the middle of a war right now‚ I dont know if anyone noticed this. Perhaps we dont want to inflame tensions‚ Stu Burguiere agrees‚ adding that Blinken could probably be a little bit more judicious with the way he talks about this in the middle of hundreds of thousands of people dying on a battlefield.Not only did Blinken make a potentially devastating promise‚ Emmanuel Macron‚ the president of France‚ has mentioned hes considering sending troops to Ukraine.Remember‚ another thing Russia has said is‚ You guys get involved‚ then youre involved and I target you as well‚ Glenn says.To learn more‚ watch the clip below.Want more from Glenn Beck?To enjoy more of Glenns masterful storytelling‚ thought-provoking analysis‚ and uncanny ability to make sense of the chaos‚ subscribe to BlazeTV the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America‚ defend the Constitution‚ and live the American dream.

Newspaper owner sues small Kansas city‚ police department for raiding his home and office: ';Illegal as hell';

The owner of a small newspaper in Marion‚ Kansas‚ a city of fewer than 2‚000 residents‚ is suing his city and local police department‚ among other defendants‚ after officers conducted a raid on his home and newspaper office last summer.On Monday‚ Eric Meyer‚ owner of the Marion County Record‚ filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Kansas‚ claiming that various public figures‚ in their official and personal capacities‚ violated his First and Fourth Amendment rights when they searched his home and office in August 2023. During those raids‚ investigators apparently seized computers‚ servers‚ hard drives‚ and even personal cell phones belonging to reporters‚ as Blaze News previously reported.The raids on Meyer';s home and office related to Kari Newell‚ a prominent Marion businesswoman who was seeking a liquor license for her restaurant. However‚ Meyer had received a tip that Newell had been illegally driving on a suspended license after a previous DUI conviction‚ information that likely would have put Newell';s liquor license request in jeopardy.Though Meyer';s paper‚ the Marion County Record‚ never ran a story about Newell';s past‚ Meyer did contact then-Marion Police Chief Gideon Cody and Marion County Sheriff Jeff Soyez to say that he would investigate whether local law enforcement had knowingly permitted Newell to drive on a suspended license.Newell‚ who had also recently asked Meyer and another Record reporter to leave her coffee shop during an event for a Republican congressman‚ later accused Meyer of obtaining her private information in an ";illegal"; manner.Within a matter of days‚ all five members of the Marion Police Department and two Marion County sheriff';s deputies conducted the raids on Meyer';s home and the Marion County Record office. The predicates for the search warrant were reportedly ";identity theft of Kari Newell"; and ";unlawful acts concerning computers.";In the lawsuit‚ Meyer alleged that the raids were conducted in retaliation for unfavorable coverage of former Marion Mayor David Mayfield and former Chief Cody‚ who resigned from his position after footage from the raid allegedly showed him rifling through reporters'; files about his previous work with the police department in Kansas City‚ Missouri.Meyer has always claimed that the information regarding Newell';s past was discovered legally since driving records are public. Yet‚ according to the lawsuit‚ Cody misrepresented the law regarding such information in the search warrant authorizing the raid.Marion County District Court Magistrate Judge Laura Viar‚ who signed the search warrant‚ then almost immediately nullified it when she crossed out the line for a notary';s signature‚ claiming that Chief Cody had sworn to the veracity of its contents ";before me‚"; even though Cody had not actually done so‚ the lawsuit said.Meyer stated he also intends to add a wrongful death claim to the lawsuit in connection with his late mother‚ Joan Meyer. Joan Meyer co-owned the Record with her son and was present in his home at the time of the raids last August. ";Im not dumb‚"; she told the officers that day‚ the lawsuit stated. ";I may be ninety-some years old‚ but I know whats going on. And whats going on is illegal as hell.";She even predicted that the raids would kill her‚ warning the officers‚ ";Thats going to be murder."; Within 24 hours of the raids‚ Joan Meyer died of an apparent heart attack. She was 98.The lawsuit does not list the financial damages sought for the raids‚ but Meyer did indicate that he will seek $5 million in the wrongful death claim.";The last thing we want is to bankrupt the city or county‚ but we have a duty to democracy and to countless news organizations and citizens nationwide to challenge such malicious and wanton violations of the First and Fourth Amendments and federal laws limiting newsroom searches‚"; Eric Meyer said.Meyer also indicated he would donate ";any punitive damages to community projects and causes supporting cherished traditions of freedom.";The lawsuit names many defendants: the City of Marion‚ former Mayor Mayfield‚ former Chief Cody‚ acting Marion Chief Zach Hudlin‚ Sheriff Soyez‚ the Marion County Board of Commissioners‚ and Detective Aaron Christner. Blaze News reached out to current Marion Mayor Michael Powers‚ Chief Hudlin‚ Sheriff Soyez‚ and David Mueller‚ the chair of the Marion County Board of Commissioners‚ for comment. We did not receive any responses.Days after the raid last year‚ however‚ the Marion PD claimed in a Facebook post written in the first person that the officers'; actions would ultimately be ";vindicated."; Like Blaze News? How red states can stop the FBIs political persecution in its tracks

So what is to stop the FBI from arresting you just like they did Steve Baker? my wife asked with a pensive expression on her face. She has a point. I advocate many more incendiary ideas from the FBIs perspective than my colleague Baker does. Sure‚ he was at the Capitol on January 6. But lets be honest: We all know the Justice Department is prosecuting him for what he is reporting‚ not for what he did or didnt do that afternoon three years ago.This is dead serious. Now that Republicans have fully funded the Justice Department for the remainder of the year‚ what is our backstop to protect against political persecutions the hallmark of an autocratic government we never thought wed live to see?Do you think illegal immigration is a problem and that the governments response to COVID was tyrannical? You might be have an FBI file.Steve Friend‚ an FBI whistleblower who warned the House Judiciary Committee in 2022 about the dangerous agenda of his former employer‚ has an answer. It starts with red states. Friend helped draft Tennessees SB2804/HB2912‚ which offered a cunning and constitutional solution to slow the spread of federal tyranny.In its original form‚ the bill barred any Tennessee state-certified law enforcement officer from participating in a FBI joint terrorism task force. A revised version allowed an appointment to the JTTF but only with the permission of the chief law enforcement officer of the agency from which the deputy or police officer is being tapped.The FBI lacks enough agents to operate throughout the country without the full cooperation of local law enforcement. The true aim of the Tennessee legislation was to prevent the FBI from wrongly pursuing residents over politics by allowing local sheriffs to control when their deputies work with federal agencies. More states should exploit this weakness to shift the FBIs focus from politically charged national security probes of free speech to tackling serious crimes.Sadly‚ the bill was defeated on Tuesday in the state senate judiciary committee‚ which is 7-1 Republican. The vote was unanimous. Republicans hid behind the cloak of back the blue to oppose the bill while warning that it would impede investigations against legitimate terrorist threats.This 1 paragraph‚ 1 page bill empowers Tennessee sheriffs to know who their deputies are investigating with the @FBI.@PaulRoseTN is 1 of 7 Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee who wouldn';t motion to vote on it. pic.twitter.com/Ps60cU8YIt Steve Friend (@RealStevefriend) April 3‚ 2024 The reality is that the bill was pro-law enforcement. It would not have prevented local law enforcement from working with federal authorities on cases involving gangs‚ violent crime‚ or drugs‚ nor would it have prevented police from sharing information on bona fide terrorism cases‚ domestic or foreign.But what it would have done is prevent the FBI from dragooning local officers into task forces behind the backs of elected sheriffs. Those task forces have been used to target political opponents who are unjustly labeled as domestic terrorists.The problem with the JTTFs is that any local officer deputized to cooperate with FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence investigations requires a top-secret security clearance. This means that local law enforcement might be working on an effort to target conservative organizers without the knowledge of their respective sheriffs‚ commissioners‚ or police chiefs. Obviously‚ that undermines the principle that police powers should be transparent and accountable to the local electorate.Fact is‚ the FBI has designated anti-government anti-authority violent extremism its top crime-fighting priority. The FBI describes the profile of an AGAAVE as anyone with a perception of government overreach or negligence. Such a sweeping definition lets the FBI investigate churchgoers‚ for example‚ by associating Christian beliefs with white supremacy or other ideas the FBI thinks will lead to anti-government radicalization. Do you think illegal immigration is a problem and that the governments response to COVID was tyrannical? You might have an FBI file.Its all nonsense‚ of course. Multiple‚ credible studies across the political spectrum have revealed that most FBI counterterrorism investigations involve subjects who are not predisposed to commit an act of terrorism‚ Friend explained in defending the rationale for the bill.Its time conservatives ditch the reflexive‚ mindless trope of back the blue in defense of every law enforcement operation. During this era of anarcho-tyranny‚ the goal should be to maintain order while eschewing the tyrannical use of law enforcement for political persecutions.Local law enforcement needs to be accountable to the people. The most pro-law enforcement thing we can do is empower local sheriffs over unaccountable FBI bureaucrats who continue to abuse their power in the most dangerous way imaginable.The Tennessee bill may be dead for now‚ but issue is not going away. If anything‚ its going to get worse. Red states must act to safeguard our liberties. Using the Tennessee bill as a model would be a good place to start. Dont wait until its too late.

Illegal alien from Haiti described as ';kind‚ docile‚ and mild mannered'; allegedly kills 2 roommates in New York state

An illegal alien from Haiti living in New York state has been accused of viciously stabbing his two roommates to death.Just before 3 p.m. on Monday‚ police received a report of a stabbing at the Ruth Court apartments in Middletown‚ New York‚ a city of about 30‚000 residents some 70 miles northwest of New York City. When officers arrived‚ they found one individual already deceased inside one of the units. A second victim was found lying on the sidewalk outside‚ suffering from grave injuries.The second victim was raced to Garnet Health Medical Center for immediate surgery. Unfortunately‚ the victim died on the operating table.The two victims have now been identified as Marie Saint Vilus and Rosbert Myrtil‚ both illegal immigrants from Haiti. However‚ reports have not clarified which of the two perished at the hospital. Police have also not yet uncovered a motive for what Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus described as ";one of the most brutal murders"; that some in law enforcement had ever seen. The weapon used in the attack is believed to have been a knife.The suspect in the case is the victims'; 30-year-old roommate‚ Kenol Baptiste‚ who was discovered hiding in nearby woods by some K-9 cops and their handlers. Baptiste‚ Myrtil‚ and Saint Vilus had reportedly been living together at the apartments for at least eight months.Neuhaus confirmed that Baptiste is also an illegal immigrant from Haiti who was awaiting a deportation hearing when the stabbings occurred. He added that officials are now attempting to ascertain ";how‚ where‚ [and] when"; Baptiste entered the U.S.Baptiste has been charged with felony second-degree murder‚ felony first-degree manslaughter‚ and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon. He remains in ICE custody in Orange County Jail.Marie Pereira‚ a Haitian immigration attorney who knew the victims and has spoken with some of their friends‚ claimed no one saw Baptiste';s allegedly violent rage coming. ";Everyone is shocked because the murderer was a kind‚ docile‚ and mild mannered‚ hardworking young immigrant with no history of violence‚"; she said.Neuhaus claimed that the Biden administration and its lax immigration policies are at least partially responsible for the horrific deaths. ";This is a failure on all levels of the federal government‚"; he said.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

70-year-old transgender public defender causes stir by appearing braless in Seattle court‚ flaunting surgically enhanced breasts

A transgender public defender provoked a reaction as the 70-year-old lawyer flaunted surgically enhanced breasts while appearing braless in a Seattle court.On Thursday‚ transgender attorney Stephanie Mueller appeared before a Seattle court. Mueller wore a lowcut blue top that accentuated surgically enhanced breasts and was decked out in skin-tight black leather pants. The City of Seattle calls for ";respectful business or office attire"; during courtroom appearances in Washington. Mueller has reportedly been a public defender for more than 20 years. According to a 2016 GoFundMe campaign titled ";Stephanies Public Defense Fund."; When the crowdfunding campaign was launched in 2016‚ Mueller stated‚ ";I also may be the only openly transgendered woman trial attorney in Washington state.";";Since I came out as an openly transgendered attorney I bring diversity to the practice of a law and I am a role model for the transgendered community‚"; Mueller wrote. ";Additionally‚ I am also a distinctive and active voice for the civil rights of all with a particular awareness for transgender rights.";Mueller claimed the crowdfunding was necessary because the transgender attorney had multiple sclerosis and the lawyer';s car had ";just died."; The Daily Mail reported‚ ";Despite her unique appearance‚ Mueller insists she has been ';treated with complete respect and great acceptance'; since transitioning in 2012 at the age of 58.";Seattle journalist Jonathan Choe shared a video to the X social media platform of an interview with Mueller about one of the public defender';s clients. Speaking of a ";far-left"; client charged with first-degree criminal trespassing for allegedly disrupting a city council meeting in February‚ Mueller argued the client was ";innocent‚ of course.";Mueller declared‚ ";My client has pleaded not guilty and she is not guilty how about that?";Mueller has reportedly worked with ";LGBTQ foster youth"; and taught anti-sexual harassment training. New Jersey candidate for US Senate nailed with hilarious mockery after blaming earthquake on climate change

Residents living in the northeast were shocked Friday when the region was struck by a sharp earthquake‚ but one congressional candidate faced swift mockery for blaming it on climate change.The earthquake registered about 4.8 on the Richter scale and shook parts of New Jersey and New York City. Many rushed to social media to express their bewilderment and post videos of the quake. While earthquakes in the region are rare‚ they are possible because of a major fault line named the Ramapo Fault that runs from the Appalachian mountains. Several fault lines run under New York City. Christina Amira Khalil is a candidate for the U.S. Senate for the Green Party‚ and she showed her keen understanding of science when she said on social media that the earthquake was due to the climate changing.";I experienced my first earthquake in NJ. We never get earthquakes‚"; said Khalil on X‚ the platform formerly known as Twitter. (@) ";The climate crisis is real. The weirdest experience ever‚"; she added.The odd claim garnered over 600k views in just a few hours. Ridicule Many on social media pounced on the opportunity to mock a politician making such an absurd claim. ";Please explain the causal link that you think exists between the climate crisis and earthquakes‚"; read one response. ";Can you show us on the doll where the climate crisis touched you?"; replied Addison Smith of Newsmax. ";This is the dumbest Tweet I think I have ever seen. Congratulations‚"; responded meteorologist Chris Martz. ";Earthquakes have nothing to do with human-caused climate change. A gas that composes 0.04% of the Earths atmosphere doesnt have any affect on the movement of fault lines. Go back to 3rd grade science.";";If you were looking for the dumbest person on the planet - this would be a great place to start‚"; replied comedian Brian Haner. She respondsWhen someone informed Khalil about other earthquakes in New Jersey just this year‚ she claimed ignorance. ";Never felt or knew about those. I felt this one. Same with many other NJ people‚"; she responded. Later‚ she mocked those who ridiculed her so ruthlessly on social media. ";Pretty cool‚ I upset a lot of bots‚"; she posted. An online prediction platform places Khalil';s chances of winning the Senate seat at 13%. Here';s more about the earthquake: Like Blaze News? Registered sex offender allegedly raped pregnant woman at gunpoint and forced her into unspeakable acts while recording video

Horrendous accusations were made by a pregnant woman who said she was forced into unspeakable acts by a man who was a registered sex offender in Texas.58-year-old Dennis Allen Carter is accused of committing the heinous acts at his home in Kittridge in August. The unidentified woman told police that Carter had picked her up at the Valero gas station on Hirsch Road and Crosstimbers Street in Houston. He drove her to his home and allegedly recorded her while threatening her. ";The facts in this case‚ frankly‚ sound like something out of a horror show‚"; said a prosecutor at the probability cause hearing on Thursday. ";Gives me serious concern for plaintiff';s safety."; The woman said that Carter sexually assaulted her and held a gun to her head. He then allegedly forced her to have sex with his pet dog while he recorded them. When he was questioned‚ Carter allegedly showed the videos he had recorded with the woman to police‚ but he claimed that she had committed the acts under her own free will.He was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated sex assault and one count of bestiality. Police said in court that Carter was a registered sex offender and had not made a proper notification that he had moved to a new home. He is required to notify police seven days prior to moving to another residence. He had been previously arrested and convicted of aggravated sexual abuse of a child in the 80s and of aggravated sexual assault in 1997. Carter is required to register as a sex offender for life as a result of those convictions. The man';s neighbors were shocked and stunned by the extreme allegations against Carter. ";He did seem like a nice guy‚"; said one neighbor to KTRK. ";But it';s all a show."; Carter is being held on a $350‚000 bond‚ and prosecutors are seeking to revoke his parole. In a similar case from Houston in March‚ a 21-year-old man was arrested after his relative bumped into his laptop while cleaning his room and saw images of child sex abuse on the computer. The relative turned the man in to police‚ and he was charged with crimes related to possession of images of child sex abuse and also of bestiality.
