Scientists have warned that the largest solar flare in six years could be headed for Earth in a matter of days. This comes after the flare blanked radio frequencies‚ including a major radio blackout in South America. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently reported that the solar flare "is likely one of the largest solar radio events ever recorded." The flare is caused by explosions on the surface of the sun‚ which then expand outward and spew bursts of electromagnetic radiation.The New York Post reported that the solar flare occurred on Thursday after a sunspot known as AR 3514 erupted with a class X.28 solar flare — the largest variety of flare that our sun is capable of producing. The report went on to say that the flare was the largest the star has generated since 2017. — (@) The flare had far-reaching consequences‚ including a massive radio blackout in South America. There was also a total loss of radio signals for several hours‚ but they were eventually recovered. The U.S. experienced shortwave radio blackouts‚ too.However‚ it appears that the solar flare was just one part of the ominous activity on the surface of the sun. Our star also produced what is known as a coronal mass ejection‚ which is a cloud-like explosion of plasma that could be headed for Earth‚ according to scientists researching the activity. If scientists are correct in their prediction‚ our planet could experience a geomagnetic storm no later than December 17. The phenomena could wreak havoc on satellites and ultimately lead to a blackout on Earth that could cost billions of dollars‚ according to the Post. A recent study even suggested that the geomagnetic storm could adversely disrupt railway systems‚ turning train signals from red to green. However‚ there is no confirmation that this will happen. New Republic Calls Out Right's 'Mostly Bogus Plagiarism Charges' against Claudine Gay

A unique 4th century Roman military diploma of a Praetorian Guard will be the centerpiece of a new exhibition at the Maremma Archaeological and Art Museum in Grosseto‚ Tuscany. The diploma was discovered in 1958 near the town of Poggio Rotigli outside Grosseto. The two bronze tablets were brought to the surface during ploughing work. Despite their encounter with heavy machinery‚ the tablets were in excellent condition‚ and all four sides of them were inscribed with the inscriptions fully legible. They were immediately recognized as a highly significant epigraphic record of a member of the Praetorian Guard who was likely from the Maremma region of Italy. Roman soldiers were issued diplomas at the end of 25 years of military service as attestations of their legal discharge from the army and the rights conferred to them‚ namely Roman citizenship‚ the right to marry‚ the legitimization of any children they may have fathered before being legally married‚ and the conferring of citizenship on said children. The Poggio Rotigli military diploma belonged to one Valerius Clemens‚ described in the inscription as an Italian national who was discharged from the Ninth Praetorian Cohort on January 7th‚ 306 A.D. The early 4th century date makes this the most recent Roman military diploma known. It consists of two rectangular tablets‚ one larger and thicker than the other‚ with two holes pierced through the center. The tablets were originally tied together with a cord passed through the holes and then sealed with a lead or tin seal. This sealing system kept the interior inscriptions of the tablets private and prevented them from being fraudulently duplicated without breaking the seal. The long inscription includes the names and many‚ many titles of emperors Flavius ​​Valerius Constantius (Constantius Chlorus‚ r. 305-306‚ father of Constantine the Graet) and Galerius Valerius Maximianus (Galerius‚ r. 305-311)‚ their predecessors Diocletian (r. 284-305) and Maximian (r. 286-305) and the Caesars Flavius ​​Severus (Caesar from 305-306) and Maximinus Daza (Caesar from 305-310). The new museum exhibition will be an immersive experience for visitors. It seems to be established as the main theme of the left that Trump will destroy the Constitution and make himself dictator. Republicans point to the ever-increasing power of the administrative state that has more and more boldly breeched Constitutional safeguards‚ intending to gather all power into itself and to be free from any accountability to the people. How do either of these perspectives jibe with the dictator-god model above? Those on the left try to make Trump fit the model. But it doesn’t work. The enthusiasm among his base is much more the enthusiasm held for football teams‚ or better‚ for one’s favorite WWE wrestling hero. Trump’s flaws have never been hidden. He revels in them and uses them to his advantage. His fans love him because he fights for the causes they care about‚ and he fights to win‚ no matter how much dirt he might churn up. There is no aura of supreme self-control that was with Washington‚ or of the tragic crusader for freedom and for a democracy not doomed to self-destruction that grew up around Lincoln after his murder. It is more of the rule-breaker and scrapper in the mold of Andrew Jackson‚ Truman’s hero. Whatever it is‚ there is no whiff of church or synagogue about it‚ no pretensions of omnipotence‚ just of a salesman supreme‚ with a whiff of P. T. Barnum‚ and an uncanny sense of knowing the worries of the Forgotten Man‚ in this way only reminiscent of FDR. So‚ no savior-god model here. And neither among the Democrats. Obama could have played his cards that way‚ but preferred to give full play to his clever deviousness‚ saying words deliberately meant to obscure‚ blaming others for not parsing them well. He seems rather proud of himself and of the fantastic wealth he has amassed out of his public service‚ and on his having pioneered the emergence of a dominant sub-government that intends to set policy no matter who might be elected. What I mean is this. Had Obama cared to trust the people‚ he would have said this in his 2008 campaign: I mean to push as far as I can to socialize medicine and it will cost most of you more and give you less options than you have now; I intend to develop and sponsor new identities‚ each of which will be defined as oppressed and entitled‚ not to a fair shake and equality under the law‚ but to cultural and legal precedence; I intend to act on the antisemitism that was so central to my twenty formative years under Jeremiah Wright‚ and let Israel go as quickly as I can without political damage‚ all the while slowly subscribing the U.S. to delegitimate Israel’s right to exist and defend itself; etc. etc. etc. The result is that Obama did not fill a heroic role‚ but the role of a founder of an American nomenklatura‚ an elite who mean to establish a monopoly of political and cultural power‚ but all done with no drama. It’s meant to be invisible. Obama went one better on the Brezhnev and Andropov model. He pioneered the totally invisible leader. His great insight was that one can consolidate unlimited power now by running against an anti-hero. The nominal leader is irrelevant. He campaigns from a cellar. His mental competence deteriorates. His policies implode. Doesn’t matter. All that is needed is the Not Him — we are against the Very Bad Orange Dictator. The eye of the new totalitarian hurricane is an absence‚ the plummeting barometer that whips the surrounding storm to a destructive frenzy. For while democracy builds on the idea that every person is created in the image of God‚ the new totalitarianism sees an absence‚ an abyss‚ a yawning nothingness. There is no Utopia‚ just the frenzy to avoid the abyss‚ the irresistible black hole. It is Hobbes’ war of all against everyone as identities evermore aggressively demand satisfaction of non-negotiable claims by any means necessary. Accept the insanity‚ accept the truth we dictate‚ and we will spare you the abyss as long as we can. IF you don’t‚ we will give you a little shove into its depths. There is a bit of a bump right now in the road to this new kind of totalitarianism. Some old embers of decency and morality are still glowing ‚ strangely enough‚ in the man meant to be only the cypher in chief. He has resisted the Obama sabotage of Israel in the wake of Hamas’ attempt to update the Final Solution. Some elemental decency seems to be at work. But the White House staff will have none of it‚ and all the immense pressure of what the American nomenklatura can bring to bear on their corrupt‚ doddering‚ front man. The god of science is admitting that he no longer practices the Catholic faith in which he was raised because‚ quite simply‚ he knows better than God. In a recent conversation on “Influential with Katty Kay‚” Anthony Fauci told the BBC presenter that he no longer practices his Catholic faith. When asked why‚ he responded‚ “A number of complicated reasons‚” which is a common enough way for ex-Catholics to say that their antipathy towards the Church is predicated on emotion‚ not on logic. Fauci’s arrogance in preferring his “own personal ethics on life” over those which shaped the past 2‚000 years of Western civilization is staggering. “First of all‚” Fauci explained‚ “I think my own personal ethics on life are enough to keep me going on the right path.” Catholicism‚ as the oldest branch of Christianity‚ serves as the foundation upon which Western civilization rests. It is thanks to the Catholic Church that the literature‚ philosophy‚ theology‚ artwork‚ political theory‚ and culture of the ancient world were preserved when pagan invaders swept across Europe in the wake of Rome’s collapse. It was Irish missionary monks who kept safe the works of great minds like Plato and Aristotle‚ the epics of Homer and Virgil‚ and the teachings of Christ when much of Europe was in flames. It was Catholic thinkers‚ from Augustine to Boethius to Aquinas and Bonaventure to Robert Bellarmine to Pope John Paul II who shaped‚ defined‚ and clarified the values upon which the Western world is built. It was Catholic artists like Michelangelo‚ Raphael‚ and Leonardo DaVinci who renewed the celebration of beauty as a shadow of the Divine. It is thanks to the Rule of St. Benedict‚ considered the father of Western monasticism‚ that law was preserved in Europe after the Roman Empire fell. The one-time-hermit and his followers founded countless monasteries across the continent‚ which became central hubs for community‚ education‚ and even justice. The monks would establish schools‚ teach children and adults how to read and write and study scripture; they would train local farmers in animal husbandry‚ in gardening‚ in cooking; they established homes for the poor and hospitals for the sick‚ pioneering the field of medicine (which is‚ remember‚ purportedly Fauci’s own field). Pope St. Gregory the Great was instrumental in crafting what would become the political‚ legal‚ and societal basis of the West. The son of a Roman senator and himself a former Prefect of Rome‚ Gregory enacted political and liturgical reforms throughout the Christian world‚ evangelizing the Anglo-Saxons and various Germanic‚ Celtic tribes‚ and uniting Europe under Catholicism. The ramifications of Catholic Charlemagne’s rule still resonate throughout the world today and have shaped the West’s view of everything from economy to art to war and even to social justice. St. Thomas Aquinas had perhaps the most profound effect on the Western world‚ and his thought is still the basis of countless legal and judicial systems‚ governments‚ and political agendas the world over. It is thanks to the philosophical contributions of Aquinas that human value is considered the foundation of modern law; it was the foundation laid by his writings that allowed John Locke to write so eloquently and authoritatively on natural law; it was ideas pioneered and defined by Aquinas that inspired America’s Founding Fathers to write their Declaration of Independence and their Constitution and fight for their freedom from tyranny and injustice; even the notion of “human rights” is derived from Aquinas. It was during the crusades‚ ordered often by Popes‚ that ideas like tolerance‚ religious liberty‚ and cultural assimilation were developed. The founding missions of the Dominican and Franciscan Orders promoted the idea that the general population could develop and exercise profound virtue‚ a necessary concept for today’s age of democratic self-governance. The real news was in the subhead: “Flouting subpoena‚ he may face contempt vote.” [A]fter Hunter Biden “had regained his sobriety” and was paid more than $1.2 million‚ the younger Biden still did not pay off his tax liabilities. Then he suggested he was a victim of the “MAGA Republicans.” There’s a pattern here. Talking heads often frame the House GOP’s look into Hunter Biden’s curious income by maintaining Republicans have failed to link the son’s huge paydays to President Joe Biden’s record. They’re blind to the fact that‚ legal or not‚ when the son of a then-vice president and later presidential hopeful rakes in some $7 million from 2016 through October 2020‚ much of it from foreign interests‚ it makes Team Biden appear as if it is for sale. That’s not just a GOP talking point. During the 2016 campaign‚ the New York Times reported that Hunter Biden “lacked any experience in Ukraine and just months earlier had been discharged from the Navy Reserve for testing positive for cocaine” in 2014 — yet somehow found himself on the payroll of Ukraine energy company Burisma‚ while his father was supposed to be fighting corruption. In Ukraine. While Hunter Biden wants to focus on the House investigation‚ I can’t forget Special Counsel David Weiss’ Dec. 7 indictment of Hunter Biden on nine federal tax fraud charges. The president’s son pleaded not guilty. It is even more unfair to allow accused criminals to avoid bail altogether and to go free without bond the same day as their arrest or arraignment. It is unfair that wealthy people can buy for their children — like Al Gore and the George Bushes — admission into an Ivy League that provides a ticket to lifelong success while others cannot afford to get in‚ even though they want to avoid the politics and want just to get the Ivy degree and perhaps even to get educated. It is fair that people who work harder gain more lifelong success than people who do not. It is fair to assure people equal opportunity. It is unfair and un-American to assure people equal outcomes. Blacks were slaves‚ and their families were torn apart by slavery. This disadvantaged them even after being freed. But they began catching up. Blacks initially were held back by Democrats and their Ku Klux Klan. The 1964 Civil Rights Act passed the Senate 73-27.  Republicans voted for it 27-6 (82 percent to 18 percent).  Democrats 46-21 (69 percent to 31 percent). Thus‚ the “No” vote was 78 percent Democrat. LBJ’s and the Democrats’ “Great Society” programs destroyed Black families‚ drove Black fathers out of their homes because of requirements of federal means-tested programs‚ and transmogrified Black communities predominantly to have children born out of wedlock‚ assuring half a century of inordinate youth crime‚ males imprisoned‚ failure to graduate college‚ and failure in so many endeavors. “Affirmative Action” caused minority students unworthy of better schools but perfectly qualified for average or lesser schools to go to schools more demanding than their skills-sets could meet. So instead of their graduating from lesser colleges and then lesser graduate schools with professional degrees and certifications to make excellent livings and lives in their own communities‚ they ended up dropping out of those better and more demanding schools after a year or two‚ bearing the Mark of Cain — lifetime failure — and never completing college‚ on the one hand‚ nor preparing for an excellent high-paying vocational career on the other‚ When a kid (Asian‚ Jewish) knows he or she faces discrimination‚ the kid works harder from the start‚ developing the work habits that assure lifetime success. Jews and Asians seem to succeed inordinately not because they are genetically superior but because they begin with the awareness they will not get an even break. A born male‚ later with a penis chopped off (not just a bris) and silicone breasts attached‚ is an older male with a penis chopped off (not just a bris) and silicone breasts attached. A born female‚ later with breasts removed and an artificial penis sewn on‚ is a grown female with breasts removed and an artificial penis sewn on. Homosexuals should be treated fairly and decently. They never should face discrimination in the workplace or in healthcare‚ housing‚ or other policies. Sexual orientation is private and no one else’s business. “Pride Parades‚” “Pride Week‚” and “Pride Month” is offensive to people whose sexual orientations follow the norm‚ thus are normal. Those who oppose homosexual marriage on grounds it violates their religious values based on the Bible are not homophobes or homophobic. Rather‚ the word for that is that they are “religious” and “believe in the Word of G-d.” There is nothing wrong with Mormons holding a religious service posthumously converting Anne Frank to Mormonism because truly believing Jews (Orthodox Jews) regard that as nonsense. Half a century of Holocaust education and Holocaust museums and memorials are proven a waste of time and money‚ though assimilated Jews ignorant of their religious heritage like to build them because they have nothing else Judaic but the Holocaust to lean on. Those tens of millions instead should have been directed to Judaic education‚ teaching Jewish kids authentic Judaic values. The liberal Jewish parents could not face this truth and feared having kids who one day would observe the Sabbath and eat kosher‚ so now their Holocaust-educated and Holocaust-museum’d children are marching at Harvard‚ Columbia‚ Yale‚ and MIT against Israel and for those sworn to destroy not only Israel but all Jews — including them. A contemporary Harvard‚ Columbia‚ Yale‚ MIT‚ U. of Penn‚ etc.‚ education means a child will be indoctrinated in leftist ideology‚ deconstruction of Western values‚ lies about America‚ lies about Israel‚ Marxism‚ contempt for the great writings and ideas of Dead White Men‚ contempt for “White Privilege‚” and an ideology promoting socialism and devoid of love or even respect for the values of America’s Founding Fathers and our Constitution. Great and persuasive arguments can be made why not to send kids to Poison Ivy schools. But‚ unfortunately‚ the reality is that an Ivy college degree opens doors that others do not‚ and that carries through a lifetime. The only ways we will get our colleges back is when the billionaire donors who annually provide these universities with oxygen cancel their multi-million-dollar gifts . . . and . . . When the federal government (i) eliminates the universities’ tax-exempt status and their access to the federal student loan program‚ forcing the colleges to extend their own student loans that they can afford easily from their vast endowments and that will be repaid with interest handsomely if they prepare their students to succeed‚ or will be defaulted if their graduates emerge with majors in Transgender Climate Justice. Israel handed Gaza to the Arabs and the “Palestine Authority” in 2005. Gaza no longer was “occupied.” It was very nice‚ not at all an “open-air prison.” Israel’s leaders expected the world now would love Israel. The world did not respond by loving Israel. A free election was held‚ overseen and blessed as fair by Jimmy Carter‚ and Hamas was elected in a landslide. Hamas mass-murdered members of the governing “Palestine Authority‚” threw out the ones still breathing‚ and took control of Gaza. Hamas has started six wars with Israel in 18 years. In each of the first five‚ Israel beat Hamas down‚ faced international demands to stop bombing and to accept a ceasefire‚ and did so to help the world love Israel. The world did not respond by loving Israel. In the fifth of those wars‚ Joe Biden pressured Bibi Netanyahu to stop bombing and to accept a ceasefire. Bibi buckled to win Biden’s friendship and support. Hamas rebuilt — above ground and in subterranean tunnels — and butchered 1‚200 Israelis three years later on October 7‚ 2023‚ Shabbat Shmini Atzeret. Biden knows that he‚ in part‚ caused this mess by stopping Israel last time from eradicating Hamas. Bibi’s governing coalition is 64 seats of the 120-seat Knesset. Polls show that coalition now would garner 43-46 seats — in other words‚ a catastrophe. If Bibi does not utterly eradicate Hamas‚ he will lose not only the left but also his bases in the center and on the right. Israel does not have an “extreme-right” government. It is purely Western-style democratic. The two most conservative Knesset parties and leaders‚ Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir‚ have proven perfectly reasonable parliamentarians a full year into their ministerial service. The Israeli government now is center-conservative — not “extreme right wing.” Donald Trump will not be a dictator. America is not headed for dictatorship‚ tyranny‚ fascism‚ and Nazism‚ if Trump wins — just chaos‚ woke and media-generated chaos. America has chaos now anyway. A sovereign country needs rules to define who has a right to live in its territory. These rules are called “citizenship” and “naturalization.” They keep unauthorized foreigners out. A country has the right to keep out any non-citizen it wants for any reason or even for no reason. Millions of people have been entering America illegally‚ particularly since the 1970s. Ronald Reagan did a particularly foolish and destructive thing by granting blanket amnesty to millions of illegals. Ronald Reagan also was deeply foolish and numbskull-wrong for condemning Menachem Begin’s decision to bomb and destroy Saddam Hussein’s nuclear facilities. Ronald Reagan also was deeply foolish in condemning Israel in 1982 for the killings of Arab Muslims in Southern Lebanon by Arab Christians. Reagan’s decision to send Marines overseas into Lebanon to do a better job controlling the Arab Muslims there resulted in a single bombing that killed 241 Marines and forced America to race them back home‚ tails between their legs‚ to the shame of our country. Reagan‚ despite all errors in judgment‚ was the greatest American president in half a century and even more. Donald Trump was better. The media lied about Trump before he even got the GOP nomination. He had been loved as a successful NBC TV show host and more. No one ever thought of him as racist or a hater of any kind. He had been a generous donor to Democrats including the Clintons. He prided himself as a deal-maker‚ not as a conservative. He is liberal on LGBTQIA+ issues‚ abortion‚ and many hot-button issues. He came in‚ boasting he was a deal-maker and just wanted to make deals‚ bringing Democrats and Republicans together‚ probably tilting left of center‚ except on doing business with China. The media and even the liberals‚ not just the progressives and the woke‚ would not give Trump a chance. They made him a conservative because he fights back hard against anyone who hits him. Trump’s spokespeople were superstars: Sean Spicer‚ Sarah Huckabee Sanders‚ Kayleigh McEnany. They were smart‚ quick‚ knowledgeable‚ sharp. Yet the media pummeled them. Biden’s first spokesperson‚ though extreme leftist‚ also was of that quality. His present one was chosen for DEI: Karine Jean-Pierre. She is a national embarrassment. Biden’s DEI Vice President‚ Kamala‚ also is a fool. She very probably is the stupidest Vice President in American history. Kamala never was a distinguished attorney or attorney-general. She rose in California Democrat circles by escorting the married Willie Brown‚ half a century her senior‚ to nighttime soirees wearing extremely sparing upper clothes and “dating” the married Willie late at night. He raised her up from under. That is all it took for her to become a U.S. Senator. In California‚ “voting” for state-wide office is a formality. The same people who accused Brett Kavanaugh of a rape he never committed to a perjurous woman he never met claim that Hamas never raped any Israelis despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary. Robert Bork never advocated taking away rights‚ and he deserved unanimous confirmation for the Supreme Court. Paradoxically‚ Reagan was stuck with a minority senate because conservative Republican White Anglo-Saxon Protestants from the red Deep South Bible Belt saddled him with Democrat senators. Biden’s one Supreme Court nominee‚ a DEI‚ could not define “woman” in a hearing open to a nation. She is a mediocrity. As a law professor of nearly 20 years‚ a former Chief Articles Editor of UCLA Law Review‚ former federal appellate clerk‚ and former advanced litigator of ten years‚ I know. We all know. Others won’t say it. Thus this list. The movement to defund the police has led to impossible lawlessness in cities where this was advocated‚ from D.C. to Minnesota. “Smash and Grab” now is part of the lexicon. Ilhan Omar is from Somalia. Note her foreign policy carefully even apart from Israel. She follows straight Somali Muslim policy‚ down to backing Erdogan against Armenia and refusing to recognize the Armenian Genocide. Ilhan Omar was married to her brother. This document has been published often and never denied. Ocasio represents only one heavily Puerto Rican community‚ one of 535 in Congress. The entire Squad of misfits (pulling fire alarms in Congress‚ getting censured by the House‚ etc.) comprise only two percent of Congress.
