Teens Charged In Videotaped Attack On Student

Five suspects have been charged for their alleged roles in a brutal attack that was recorded on video last week near the site of one of America’s worst mass shootings. The assault reportedly happened after school at North Community Park in Coral Springs‚ which is only a few hundred feet away from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School — the site of the Parkland massacre in 2018. Cellphone video showed one suspect throwing the victim head-first into the ground. Once the victim hit the ground‚ a couple of the suspects appear to hit the victim before most people in the vicinity run away after the victim appeared to be knocked out cold. Authorities charged five suspects with felony battery due to the “serious nature of their actions.” Four of the suspects had their mugshots released‚ including Caleb Hensley‚ 17‚ of Parkland; Sylvester Hicks Jr.‚ 16‚ of Coral Springs; Chinua Leefatt‚ 15‚ of Coral Springs; and Jordan Thompson‚ 16‚ of Coral Springs. A fifth suspect‚ Jahmeer Beauziel‚ 17‚ of Coral Springs‚ turned himself in on Monday. NBC News reported that all of the suspects except for Leefatt are students at the school. ‼️WARNING! We want to assure the public that such behavior will not be tolerated in the City of Coral Springs.”

'It's a miracle ... of God': Hiker survives 1‚000-foot plunge off Hawaiian mountain‚ then days alone in the wilderness

A hiker from California is lucky to be alive and to spend Christmas with his family after he accidentally fell 1‚000 feet off a mountain in Hawaii and then waited alone for days until rescuers arrived.Earlier this month‚ Ian Snyder‚ 34‚ of Ferndale‚ California‚ jetted off to Oahu to undertake a hike up the KoÊ»olau Summit Trail‚ considered one of the most challenging hikes on the island‚ the New York Post reported. He had done some hikes alone before‚ he said‚ and had never had any problems. For a while‚ all seemed to go well on the trail too. Around 2:30 p.m. on December 4‚ the second day of his journey‚ Snyder snapped a selfie and posted it to social media. Less than two hours later‚ he took a short video and shared it on X with the caption "Seriously one of the best hikes I’ve ever done."At 6:16 p.m.‚ he made one final post from the hike: — (@) At some point‚ he even stopped and gained some perspective about just how high up the mountain he had hiked — and how far he needed to go to get back down. "I looked down at Pali Highway and went‚ 'Man‚ that’s a long way below me‚ and I need to get down there‚'" he later recalled.Unfortunately‚ an accident caused him to go down in elevation much more quickly than he'd intended. Exactly how the accident happened is unclear‚ as Snyder has no memory of it‚ but at some point‚ he lost his footing and tumbled 1‚000 feet down the mountain. Despite the treacherous fall‚ Snyder managed to survive‚ though he initially had difficulty recovering his wits. "Once I came to‚ I had no idea what had happened. I'd been out clearly. I can't even remember if it was daytime‚ nighttime the first time I came to‚" he said.He was also seriously injured. His left arm was broken‚ his right eye was swollen shut‚ and he had sustained other injuries to his chest and legs. But he knew he couldn't stay where he was. So he used his right arm to drag himself to a nearby stream‚ where he could periodically grab a handful of water. He also wedged himself between two rocks to guard his body from the wind.Despite the harrowing circumstances‚ Snyder leaned on his Christian faith‚ which brought him "a deep sense of calm.""I had made my peace with God‚" Snyder explained. "I said‚ 'I know you. I know that Christ is Lord‚ and he's my savior‚ and I will be OK whether I live or whether I die.'"Though at peace with the prospect of dying‚ Snyder still wanted to survive for the sake of his three children. "I wanted to live‚" he said. "... I wasn’t giving up the will to live."As his family hadn't heard from him in some time‚ they had already reported him missing to the Honolulu Police Department. And Snyder's previous social media posts gave first responders a general idea about where to look for him. Still‚ some weren't hopeful about a successful rescue. Amber Fonte of the Oahu Hiking Community thought she may have to settle for the victory of returning Snyder's remains to his loved ones. But she needn't have feared the worst. On December 7‚ perhaps three days after his fall‚ Snyder was awakened by a promising sound. "I hear aircraft‚" Snyder recalled thinking. "It's going very slow and very close. They must be looking for me."And so they were. First responders in a helicopter made a daring rescue to bring him down to street level. From there‚ he was whisked away in an ambulance and taken to Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu‚ where he spent three days recovering. Some of the footage from that rescue can be seen in the Hawaii News Now clip below: ‘It’s a miracle’: Hiker who fell 1‚000 feet on Oahu trail‚ was missing for days thanks his rescue... www.youtube.com "It’s a miracle‚ first and foremost‚ of God‚" Snyder said at a press conference on December 12. Allen Zhang‚ a paramedic with Honolulu Emergency Medical Services who also spoke at the press conference‚ seemed to agree. "This is definitely a story to share‚" Zhang said‚ "but‚ most importantly‚ a blessing for this holiday season.""As you can imagine Mr. Snyder‚ your call was the most memorable that day‚" Zhang added.Snyder's parents eventually met him in Hawaii and flew back with him to Northern California on December 15‚ Snyder said on other X posts. Snyder said he expects to be "mostly normal" within a few weeks."I don't know how this will be used instrumentally by God through my life‚" Snyder said‚ "but I hope it will be useful in the long run."Like Blaze News? Colorado Supreme Court rules that Trump is disqualified from the state's ballot over insurrection incitement

Colorado's Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling on Tuesday and said that former President Donald Trump was disqualified from appearing on the state's ballots over his incitement of insurrection. However‚ the court allowed time for the former president to file an appeal by staying the effect of its ruling until Jan. 4. Objections to Trump's presidential campaign are based on a provision found in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution that says anyone who “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” after making an oath of office would be barred from serving as president. Trump's attorneys have argued that he did not participate in inciting an insurrection and also that the provision did not apply to their client. Stephen Cheung‚ a spokesman for the Trump campaign‚ released a statement criticizing the ruling. "The Colorado Supreme Court issued a completely flawed decision tonight and we will swiftly file an appeal to the United States Supreme Court and a concurrent request for a stay of this deeply undemocratic decision‚" read the statement in part. "We have full confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court will quickly rule in our favor and finally put an end to these unAmerican lawsuits." In November‚ Colorado District Court Judge Sarah Wallace ruled against the effort to ban him from ballot despite finding that he had indeed engaged in insurrection. "The Court finds that Petitioners have established that Trump engaged in an insurrection on January 6‚ 2021 through incitement‚ and that the First Amendment does not protect Trump’s speech‚" said Wallace in the 102-page decision. “The Court holds there is scant direct evidence regarding whether the Presidency is one of the positions subject to disqualification‚” she added. A similar lawsuit failed in Michigan‚ but litigants said they would appeal there as well. Here's more about the Colorado ruling: Like Blaze News? Federal judge orders dozens of names of Jeffrey Epstein associates be unsealed

Federal judge orders dozens of names of Jeffrey Epstein associates be unsealed

Judge Loretta Preska of the Southern District of New York ruled that documents will be released that will publicly identify associates of Jeffrey Epstein related to underage sex trafficking. The documents will be released on Jan. 1. Preska made the ruling as a part of a civil lawsuit against Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell by Virginia Giuffre who claimed she was sexually assaulted by the disgraced billionaire. Giuffre claimed in the defamation lawsuit filed in 2015 that Maxwell "wrongfully subjected Giuffre to public ridicule‚ contempt and disgrace." Although the case was settled under undisclosed terms in 2017‚ Maxwell was charged with perjury over statements she made while under oath.In June 2022‚ Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking Epstein's victims. Prosecutors said that Maxwell helped Epstein procure girls as young as 14 years old to be sexually assaulted at his various properties from 1994 until 2004. Maxwell's attorneys argued that she was also a victim of Epstein's schemes. The names that will be released may include Epstein's employees as well as his victims‚ although names of minor victims may continue being redacted. Preska had previously said that hundreds could be implicated by the release of documents‚ though current reports said that about 150 names will be contained in the files to be released. "In some of these documents there are literally a thousand people‚" she said in 2019. Giuffre said she was recruited to Epstein's sex abuse ring when she was only 16 years old and was forced to have sex with his prominent guests and associates. She accused Prince Andrew of being one of those abusers‚ and he also settled a lawsuit by her related to the claims. "It is known that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked countless young girls over many years‚" read a letter from Prince Andrew's attorney. "Prince Andrew regrets his association with Epstein‚ and commends the bravery of Ms. Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others." Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in 2019. Officials said he committed suicide‚ but the extraordinary nature of the case has led to the proliferation of conspiracy theories speculating that he was murdered in order to protect those who participated in sexual assault. One report from June said that Epstein had told a prison psychologist that he had a "wonderful life" and "would be crazy" to commit suicide. Here's more about the judge's ruling: Like Blaze News?
