Milad Salari is wanted in custody for the knife attack against the 9-year-old girl

DOMESTIC. Milad Salari, 36, is now wanted in custody for stabbing a 9-year-old girl in the stomach in Gothenburg on Thursday.

Chamber prosecutor Moa Widjer has requested that Milad Salari be detained on probable cause on suspicion of two cases of attempted murder in Gothenburg on March 2.

The victims are a 9-year-old girl and her grandmother. They were visiting Brunnsparken in central Gothenburg when the 36-year-old Iranian attacked them.

Milad Salari has previously been convicted of a very large number of crimes in Sweden, including robbery and assault, but has time and again gotten away with lenient sentences.

As recently as November, he was convicted of stealing a computer and a keyboard from a store right next to the scene of Thursday's stabbing. The prosecutor wanted him to be sentenced to prison, but instead he was given probation. The court considered that a "tangible improvement took place in his personal and social situation".

The injured girl is a citizen of the Netherlands. According to the police, her condition is still serious but stable.

According to the police, there is no indication that more perpetrators were involved in the attack and there is currently no known connection between Milad Salari and the victims.

The pretrial hearing starts at 3 p.m. in the Gothenburg District Court. The district court has approved the correctional service's request that Milad Salari may be handcuffed during the detention hearing.
