The Media and Higher Education Lie About Palestine

by Mark Schwendau The mainstream media‚ some of our colleges of the world‚ and “the squad” of Congress do not tell the truth about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Liberals like to have designated “safe spaces” to shelter from the truth and reality of the world. One can think of Israel as a “safe space” for the […] The post The Media and Higher Education Lie About Palestine appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

You know you’ve grown up in the 90s if these 14 scenarios make you a little nostalgic

For those of us approaching or in our 40s‚ the 1990s seem like a distant memory‚ yet they hold a special place in our hearts. This era‚ like a bridge between two centuries‚ was a time of significant technological advancement that would set the pace for rapid changes in the years to follow. The 1990s‚ much like the period following WWI‚ stood on the brink of a technological revolution. The anticipation of new inventions was palpable‚ and their adoption was swift‚ propelling us into an age of accelerated advancement. It’s a bittersweet recollection to think of the commonplace items from that time which have now vanished or become obsolete. 1. Space travel meant the Shuttle One iconic symbol of the 90s was the Space Shuttle. Compared to today’s sleek‚ touch-screen rockets‚ the Space Shuttle had a unique charm. It was a marvel of its time‚ a vessel that would launch like a rocket and gracefully glide back to Earth like a plane. This image of the shuttle‚ a testament to human ingenuity‚ is etched in the minds of 90s kids‚ a symbol of a bygone era of space exploration. Image Credit: NASA via Unsplash 2. Cameras with actual film in them Photography was another realm that underwent a transformation. Cameras loaded with actual film were the norm. While artists and photographers may still cherish film for its aesthetic‚ the digital revolution has made it a rarity. Today‚ we can capture countless digital images‚ yet ironically‚ we print none‚ whereas with film‚ each shot was precious‚ and getting that perfect snapshot of the Space Shuttle’s liftoff was a feat of timing and skill. Image Credit: Alberico Bartoccini via Unsplash 3. Books filled with phone numbers The phone book‚ once a staple in every household‚ is now a relic of the past. It held the keys to various services‚ from movie showtimes to pizza delivery numbers. It’s hard to imagine that there was a time before a centralized online search tool that could provide all that information and more‚ rendering the need to actually dial a number almost unnecessary. via GIPHY 4. Along came the internet The internet‚ now a ubiquitous presence‚ had a less than glamorous debut with the dial-up modem. Its slow connectivity was a source of frustration‚ and the internet itself was a luxury that could be interrupted by a simple phone call. Yet‚ it was this technology that would ultimately leapfrog communication into the next millennium. via GIPHY 5. You could phone home from anywhere‚ for 25 cents Payphones‚ once a symbol of connectivity‚ have all but disappeared. The last one many of us might recall could be from a distant land or a faint memory of a movie theater in our teens. These public phones‚ often equipped with their own directories‚ were our lifeline when out and about. Image Credit: Maarten van den Heuvel via Unsplash 6. When you called‚ people would answer The 90s was also a time when people actually answered their phones‚ an era before the advent of answering machines and caller-ID allowed us to screen our calls. Back then‚ answering a call was like rolling the dice‚ a stark contrast to today’s world where unscheduled calls are often left unanswered. via GIPHY 7. Conference calling was a luxury Conference calling‚ now a feature taken for granted‚ was once considered a luxury. To chat with multiple friends simultaneously was a privilege often reserved for those willing to pay for three-way calling services‚ or those who had friends with generous parents. via GIPHY 8. Going to the mall was like planning a covert operation Malls in the 90s were social hubs that required meticulous planning. Coordinating where and when to meet was crucial‚ as was having a plan for reconnecting if you wanted to secure a ride home. Without mobile phones‚ being late or separated could lead to desperate searches for a payphone and spare change. Image Credit: Dieter de Vroomen via Unsplash 9. Thank goodness they invented cell phones The cell phone‚ a device we now consider indispensable‚ was a novelty in the late 90s‚ primarily reserved for emergencies due to prohibitive overage and roaming charges. Its functions were limited‚ often reduced to a game of Snake or an emergency call option. via GIPHY 10. Tapes or CDs: the eternal question Media consumption in the 90s was characterized by a debate between tapes and CDs‚ the former being more affordable‚ the latter more desirable. Music lovers were torn between the convenience of CDs and the affordability and recordability of tapes. And let’s not forget the frustration of accidentally recording over a beloved mixtape or TV episode‚ an all-too-common occurrence. Image Credit: Mayte Wisniewskit via Unsplash 11. Be kind: Rewind The ritual of renting videos from Blockbuster was a Friday night tradition. The excitement of picking a new release was often tempered by the fear of accruing late fees‚ a concern now rendered obsolete by streaming services. via GIPHY 12. Blowing the dust out of Nintendo cartridges The 90s gaming experience was unique‚ with rituals such as blowing into Nintendo cartridges to ensure they worked‚ a far cry from today’s digital downloads. via GIPHY 13. You know what dysentery is because you died of it on the Oregon Trail Educational games like Oregon Trail were not only entertaining but also a source of historical and practical knowledge‚ albeit with a humorous twist. via GIPHY 14. The loss of a Tamagatchi pet hit you like it was real The loss of a Tamagotchi pet was a significant event for many‚ showcasing the emotional attachment we had to our virtual companions. Arts and crafts‚ like tie-dye‚ were not just activities but cultural symbols of the time. Image Credit: Imgur These memories‚ a mosaic of experiences‚ define a 90s childhood. From the technology we used to the games we played‚ each element holds a special place in our collective nostalgia. We invite you to share which of these resonate with you‚ and what memories of the 90s you hold dear. What elements of the decade have we missed? Man buys a photo for $2 at a flea market and discovers it is worth a million dollars

My favorite and most enthralling pastime is to indulge in the hunt for ancient treasures and antiquities tucked away in thrift stores and bustling flea markets. The fascination of walking through these troves of forgotten treasures‚ not knowing what hidden gems may cross my path‚ is an experience that never fails to pique my interest. The anticipation‚ and enticing uncertainty that accompany each step as I push forth with an insatiable curiosity to dig up the remarkable from every day‚ are at the heart of this trip. It’s a lovely excitement‚ similar to turning the pages of a mystery novel‚ except that the stories in this narrative aren’t confined to the world of the mind; they’re concrete relics of history waiting to be uncovered. The ultimate goal of these trips is to come across artifacts that transcend the domain of possessions and instead manifest as fragments of time itself‚ each with its story carved into its worn fabric. The attraction of owning a piece with both aesthetic appeal and historical value is an enticing incentive that drives me to investigate these nostalgic havens. One of the most exciting aspects of this undertaking is the promise of uncovering something genuinely unique‚ an artifact with a value well beyond its monetary worth. The possibility of acquiring a treasure regarded as precious by collectors and connoisseurs exists inside these humble settings‚ adding an element of mystery and grandeur to every hunt. It’s as if I’m a modern-day adventurer on a journey to unearth secret antiquities that have withstood the test of time. Few stories in uncertainty surpass Randy Guijarro’s‚ a name now synonymous with the extraordinary. He found an ancient photo album at a garage sale for two dollars‚ an inconspicuous collection of black and white snapshots that‚ at first glance‚ could have been dismissed as commonplace recollections of a bygone period. Randy’s sharp eye‚ inspired by an appreciation for unusual beauty‚ compelled him to purchase this intriguing music‚ despite his doubts about its monetary value. Randy returned home and dug into the album’s contents‚ exposing a montage of moments trapped in time‚ documenting the lives of family and friends long gone. One snapshot stood out as a historical beacon despite this sea of emotions. Among the familiar faces of loved ones stood one image that had lasted the test of time—a depiction of none other than the famed Billy the Kid‚ a name synonymous with the Wild West’s most infamous outlaws. Billy the Kid‚ known by his official name‚ William H. Bonney‚ died at 23 in 1881‚ his life cut short by a shower of bullets. Billy’s likeness‚ a figure of myth and legend‚ had become veiled in obscurity‚ his image clouded by time. Finding a photograph of this enigmatic creature was miraculous‚ illuminating Randy’s acquisition with an awe-inspiring radiance. It is impossible to stress the rarity of capturing Billy the Kid’s face on film. In a world where images were valuable‚ and photography was a burgeoning art form‚ owning a snapshot of this legendary criminal is like holding a piece of history in one’s hands. Such photos serve as stepping stones between eras‚ allowing us to see faces that once walked the landscapes of the past. Randy Guijarro’s decision to invest two dollars in that small CD proved to be a stroke of luck‚ an investment that paid benefits beyond his wildest dreams. The ordinary snapshot‚ imbued with newfound significance‚ rose from obscurity to fame. Billy the Kid’s image had transcended its physical form to become a timeless artifact of the American frontier‚ recorded within the frame of a vintage photograph. Randy’s narrative touches the hearts of treasure hunters and history buffs everywhere‚ proving the potential within the aisles of thrift stores and antique markets. It serves as a reminder that the possibility of transforming contacts with the past remains beneath the facade of simplicity within the inconspicuous corners of these havens for the curious. Randy’s journey from a garage sale to the annals of history is a monument to the force of curiosity‚ the pull of the unknown‚ and the limitless possibility of human discovery in the magnificent fabric of life’s adventures. As we go on our adventures‚ may we be motivated to enjoy the excitement of the hunt‚ since within the domain of vintage treasures and outdated relics‚ the stories of the past await rediscovery by those with eyes tuned to the enchantment that lies within the commonplace. In the world of collecting and treasure hunting‚ there are few experiences as exhilarating as stumbling upon a hidden gem in the most unlikely of places. Randy Guijarro’s story serves as a testament to the thrill of the hunt and the potential for extraordinary discoveries in the most ordinary of settings. Randy’s journey began like any other day spent scouring thrift stores and flea markets for forgotten relics of the past. These excursions are a passion for many‚ an opportunity to connect with history in a tangible way‚ and perhaps‚ with a bit of luck‚ to find an item of significant historical value. The allure of these treasure hunts lies in the mystery and uncertainty that accompanies each step. What lies hidden beneath the layers of time and dust? What stories are waiting to be unearthed from the forgotten items on the shelves? It’s akin to being a modern-day adventurer‚ seeking to uncover secrets that have long been buried. Randy Guijarro‚ a man with a keen eye for the extraordinary‚ stumbled upon such a treasure during one of his outings. He purchased an unassuming photo album for a mere two dollars at a garage sale‚ an act that would prove to be life-changing. At first glance‚ the black and white snapshots within the album appeared to be ordinary‚ capturing moments from a bygone era. However‚ Randy’s appreciation for the unusual and his curiosity led him to delve deeper into the album’s contents. As he turned the pages‚ he discovered a remarkable photograph—one that would change the course of his life. Among the familiar faces of family and friends stood the image of none other than Billy the Kid‚ the infamous outlaw of the Wild West. Billy the Kid‚ whose real name was William H. Bonney‚ lived a short but notorious life‚ cut short by a hail of bullets in 1881. Over the years‚ his image had become shrouded in mystery‚ lost to the annals of time. Finding a photograph of this enigmatic figure was nothing short of a miracle‚ and it illuminated Randy’s humble acquisition with an awe-inspiring radiance. The rarity of capturing Billy the Kid’s likeness on film cannot be overstated. In a time when photography was still in its infancy and images were treasured‚ owning a snapshot of this legendary outlaw was akin to holding a piece of history in one’s hands. These photographs serve as portals to the past‚ allowing us to glimpse the faces that once roamed the landscapes of yesteryears. Randy Guijarro’s decision to invest two dollars in that unassuming photo album turned out to be a stroke of incredible luck. What was once an ordinary snapshot now held immeasurable historical significance. Billy the Kid’s image transcended its physical form‚ becoming a timeless artifact of the American frontier‚ forever etched within the frame of a vintage photograph. Randy’s story resonates with treasure hunters and history enthusiasts alike‚ serving as a reminder of the untapped potential that lies within the aisles of thrift stores and antique markets. It is a testament to the power of curiosity‚ the allure of the unknown‚ and the boundless possibilities of human discovery. As we embark on our own adventures in search of hidden treasures‚ may we be inspired by Randy’s story to relish the excitement of the hunt. Within the realm of vintage treasures and forgotten relics‚ the stories of the past await rediscovery by those who possess the keen eye and unwavering curiosity to unveil the enchantment that lies within the seemingly commonplace. Randy Guijarro’s journey reminds us that history is all around us‚ waiting to be uncovered in the most unexpected of places. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW

‘Flagrant Disregard For Taxpayer Funds’: Pentagon Fails Sixth Consecutive Audit

The Pentagon has failed to pass its annual financial audit for the sixth consecutive year‚ prompting conservative lawmakers to call for consequences for the Department of Defense.  The Pentagon‚ which has $3.8 trillion in assets alongside $4 trillion in liabilities‚ only had seven of 30 sub-audits rated clean by auditors‚ Defense News reported. Eighteen sub-audits failed‚ three are still taking place‚ and one was “qualified‚” according to Comptroller Mike McCord. The news comes after the U.S. sent billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine and official reports that the DoD had not been able to track all of the weapons and military equipment it had sent to the country.  “It’s not enough‚” McCord said of the Pentagon fixing some issues flagged by the previous year’s audit. “The secretary [of defense] feels that we need to be doing better at this and moving faster.” McCord said the Pentagon needed to work closer with the Treasury Department to make sure they were on the same page and that they needed to use automation to optimize the process.  The comptroller added that there was just under $5 billion worth of U.S. supplies that could be sent to Ukraine. A Pentagon accounting error earlier this year gave the DoD another $6.2 billion in aid to give to Ukraine. Since the war between Russia and Ukraine began‚ Congress has approved $113 billion for Ukraine‚ with much of that coming in the form of military aid.  Lawmakers are also planning on sending billions in military aid to Israel amid its war with Hamas but the House and Senate have yet to both approve any aid packages including funding for Israel.  “The running room we have to actually help Israel is much more constrained [than it is for Ukraine] because we don’t have any action by Congress yet‚” McCord said. CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING GUIDE With news of the failed audit‚ Republicans slammed the Pentagon‚ calling for more accountability.  “The Pentagon has failed its sixth straight audit. $3.8 trillion vanished into thin air. Any other organization would face consequences‚” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) said.  “DOD’s inability to adequately track assets risks our military readiness and represents a flagrant disregard for taxpayer funds‚ even as it receives nearly a trillion dollars annually‚” the House Oversight Committee said. “The recent failure of the Pentagon’s 6TH audit couldn’t make it clearer that we need accountability &; transparency. It’s time to independently [audit the Pentagon]. No institution is above scrutiny‚ especially the DoD w/ the largest budget of ANY fed agency‚” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said.   The Center for Renewing America‚ a conservative policy organization‚ pointed to the leftist tilt of the military bureaucracy saying‚ “Our bureaucratic government agencies are as incompetent as they are WOKE &; WEAPONIZED!”
