In an interview with the Today Show in Paris, she explained that she and teammate Jordan Chiles made it back to the Olympic Village after the women’s individual floor routine final where Simone placed second and Jordan placed third, and she began to cry. “Yesterday when we got back to the village, I looked at Jordan, and I started balling my eyes out,” Simone admitted. “She was like, ‘I knew it was going to happen, I just didn’t know when.’ I was just so full of emotion. And I finally released all of that.” Simone said she wasn’t sad but overwhelmed and grateful about what happened in Paris. “I was so proud, happy, and bittersweet that the journey is over,” she added. “It’s so crazy, it happened so quick.
