Judge ‘Flagrantly Defies’ Supreme Court Ruling On Deporting Illegal Immigrants

A federal judge who was nominated by former President Joe Biden openly defied the Supreme Court on Monday, ignoring the high court’s stay of the preliminary injunction he had issued blocking the Trump administration from deporting illegal immigrants. In April, Judge Brian E. Murphy, who was confirmed when the U.S. Senate was controlled by Democrats last December, granted a preliminary injunction to illegal immigrants — all of whom had been convicted of serious crimes —  who had challenged the Trump administration’s order deporting them. “Several of the men have convictions for murder, the White House said, while others have convictions for drug, violent or sexual crimes,” the Worcester Telegram & Gazette pointed out. This leftwing radical Biden judge got jammed through the Senate in December, in the lame-duck session after Democrats lost the White House and Senate. Six months into the job, Massachusetts U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy is now openly defying a Supreme Court order. Impeach. https://t.co/IPZXvq01Gd pic.twitter.com/0tLkwqMRHk — ?? Mike Davis ?? (@mrddmia) June 24, 2025 On May 20, the eight illegal immigrants were transported on a plane headed to South Sudan, where the government said it would repatriate the men to their home countries. On May 21, Murphy said the Trump administration had violated his April 21 order. On May 27, the Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to put a stay on Murphy’s injunction. On Monday, June 23, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that the Trump administration could deport illegal aliens convicted of violent crimes to “third countries.” But on Monday evening, Murphy issued an order stating, “The Court’s May 21, 2025 Order on Remedy remains in full force and effect, notwithstanding today’s stay of the Preliminary Injunction. The District Court’s remedial orders [were] not properly before the [Supreme] Court because the Government has not appealed them, or sought a stay pending a forthcoming appeal.” “Last night, hours after the Supreme Court 6-3 blocked a Boston district judge’s lawless preliminary injunction preventing the government from removing the worst of the worst illegal aliens to third countries, the district judge announced business as usual and said its orders enforcing the injunction remained in effect,” Chad Mizelle, Chief of Staff at the Department of Justice, wrote on X. “When a single district judge immediately and flagrantly defies the Supreme Court, that is not the rule of law—it is an Article III insurrection.” Last night, hours after the Supreme Court 6-3 blocked a Boston district judge’s lawless preliminary injunction preventing the government from removing the worst of the worst illegal aliens to third countries, the district judge announced business as usual and said its orders… — Chad Mizelle (@ChadMizelle47) June 24, 2025 “Today is Justice Kagan’s ultimate test,” he continued. “She, more than any other Justice, has invoked the rhetoric of respecting the rule of law. She, more than any other Justice, should now recognize that the greatest threat to the rule of law comes from district courts openly defying Supreme Court judgments hours after their issuance.” Today is Justice Kagan’s ultimate test. Trump Walks Back Regime Change Talk: ‘Don’t Want To See So Much Chaos’

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he’s not pushing for regime change in Iran after bombing three of the country’s nuclear facilities over the weekend before working out a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel. Asked by a reporter on Air Force One if he wants a regime change, Trump replied, “No. If there was, there was. But no, I don’t want it.” The president’s comments come shortly after he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asked him to hold off on a retaliatory strike on Iran Tuesday morning following a ceasefire agreement. “I’d like to see everything calm down as quickly as possible,” Trump added. “Regime change takes chaos, and ideally, we don’t want to see so much chaos. … You know, the Iranians are very good traders, very good business people, and they’ve got a lot of oil. They should be fine. They should be able to rebuild and do a good job.” “They’re never going to have nuclear, but other than that, they should do a great job,” he continued. .@POTUS on Iran: "Regime change takes chaos — and ideally, we don't want to see so much chaos." pic.twitter.com/Tr56V91gRM — Rapid Response 47 (@RapidResponse47) June 24, 2025 Trump appears to be using these policy pronouncements as part of his negotiations with Iran. On Sunday, as Trump was working to get Iran to the negotiating table, he floated regime change in Iran, writing on Truth Social, “It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘regime change,’ but if the current Iranian regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a regime change?” His statement against regime change now comes as he’s working to ensure Iran sticks to the ceasefire. Shortly before a ceasefire between Israel and Iran went into effect Tuesday morning, however, Israel launched a massive attack on Iran, taking out “hundreds of Basij members and Iranian security personnel,” according to Netanyahu’s office. Iran then fired missiles at civilians in Beersheva, Israel, taking out a large apartment building and killing at least four people. The Ayatollah then violated the ceasefire by firing two rockets toward northern Israel, which were shot down. Earlier on Tuesday, Trump told reporters at the White House, “We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing.” He also accused both Iran and Israel of violating the “complete and total ceasefire” that was agreed to on Monday. Trump later called Netanyahu and gave him a “firm and clear” message, urging him to back down from a retaliatory strike on Iran. Trump said that Israel’s planes would only conduct a “friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!” “ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home …” Trump added. Israel’s “friendly plane wave” appeared to be an airstrike on a small target north of Tehran. Israeli officials said that their pilots struck a radar installation in Iran, according to Israeli journalist Amit Segal. The target that was hit was a radar installation https://t.co/6T54ORXuwm — Amit Segal (@AmitSegal) June 24, 2025

‘Hypocrisy’: House Speaker Blasts Dems Who Say Trump’s Iran Strike Was Unconstitutional

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Tuesday blasted Democrats who accused President Donald Trump of acting unconstitutionally after ordering strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, bluntly calling them out for their hypocrisy. “Presidents Ford, Carter, and Reagan … engaged in several military actions without congressional assent. … President Clinton followed with interventions in Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, the Middle East, and, most significantly, Kosovo, none of which were authorized by Congress. While President George W. Bush sought and received approval of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, President Obama’s wars in Libya and Syria went ahead in violation of the War Powers Resolution’s time limits,” National Review noted. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) both accused Trump of acting unconstitutionally; Jeffries said Trump “misled the country about his intentions, failed to seek congressional authorization for the use of military force and risks American entanglement in a potentially disastrous war in the Middle East.” Schumer barked, “No president should be allowed to unilaterally march this nation into something as consequential as war with erratic threats and no strategy,” calling for legislators to support war powers legislation to block further military action against Iran, Jewish Insider reported. “A lot of your Democratic colleagues and leadership are saying they didn’t get a call from the president that this was happening,” Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones stated. “Karoline Leavitt said that’s not true, they reached out to them. Apparently, Chuck Schumer answered the phone but Hakeem Jeffries didn’t. What can you tell us about that?” “I’ve spoken to Hakeem about this; he’s my counterpart in the House, the Democratic leader, and he wasn’t available when they called, and that’s just the way these things go,” Johnson replied. “It is ridiculous for anyone to assert that the Commander-In-Chief, using his Article II power in the Constitution, should have to consult all the members of Congress or even all the leadership in Congress every time he has to make a decisive, quick action. I mean, that would not be feasible. So the idea that they’re saying that what he’s done is somehow inappropriate or unconstitutional is nonsense. None of them ever complained when Barack Obama and Joe Biden used the same authority to drop bombs all over the Middle East, all over the world. It’s entirely inconsistent with their previous actions, and I think we call them on that hypocrisy.” The Commander in Chief does NOT need the permission of every member of Congress before taking decisive action to protect America or our interests. Where was the Left’s outrage when Obama and Biden used the same Article II powers? This isn’t about the Constitution. This is about… pic.twitter.com/V9mlx4VyN2 — Speaker Mike Johnson (@SpeakerJohnson) June 24, 2025

Jerome Powell Suggests Delaying Rate Cuts Beyond July Meeting While Fed Studies Tariff Impact

WASHINGTON (Reuters) — Higher tariffs could begin raising inflation this summer, a period that will be key to Federal Reserve consideration of possible rate cuts, Fed Chair Jerome Powell told members of Congress on Tuesday. Pressed by Republican members of the House Financial Services committee about why the Fed isn’t cutting rates, as President Donald Trump has demanded, Powell said he and many at the Fed expect inflation to start rising soon, and that the central bank was in no rush to ease borrowing costs in the meantime. Powell particularly said he would not open the door to a rate cut at the Fed’s July meeting, as two of his colleagues recently suggested, or at any other session for that matter. “I do not want to point to a particular meeting. I don’t think we need to be in any rush,” given a still-strong labor market and so much uncertainty about the impact of the still-unresolved tariff debate, Powell said. Referring to expected tariff-driven price increases, Powell said “we should start to see this over the summer, in the June number and the July number. … If we don’t we are perfectly open to the idea that the pass-through (to consumers) will be less than we think, and if we do that will matter for policy.” “I think if it turns out that inflation pressures remain contained we will get to a place where we cut rates sooner than later,” he said. With the central bank largely sidelined waiting for the outcome of the Trump administration’s tariff negotiations, Powell was quizzed repeatedly about why the central bank seemed preoccupied with that issue and isn’t cutting rates given that inflation so far has been modest. Powell said that Fed policy isn’t meant to endorse or criticize the Trump administration’s approach to trade, only to deal with an inflation impact that the Fed and forecasts more broadly expect to gather momentum over the rest of the year. “We aren’t commenting on tariffs,” Powell said. “Our job is keeping inflation under control, and when policies have short- and medium-term, meaningful, implications, then inflation becomes our job.” “All professional forecasters I know of…expect a meaningful increase in inflation over the course of this year,” Powell said, elaborating on the Fed’s reluctance to cut rates while major aspects of Trump’s trade policy remain unresolved. PARING BETS In prepared testimony to the House panel, Powell noted that those effects “could be short-lived, reflecting a one-time shift in the price level. It is also possible that the inflationary effects could instead be more persistent. … For the time being, we are well positioned to wait to learn more about the likely course of the economy before considering any adjustments to our policy stance.” Following the release of Powell’s testimony, investors pared bets that the central bank might cut its policy interest rate as soon as the central bank’s July meeting, and increased the perceived odds for a rate reduction in September, with another to follow later in the year. Powell’s testimony, as is usually the case with his semiannual congressional appearances, largely tracks the central bank’s most recent policy statement, approved last week. Fed officials voted unanimously at that meeting to hold the benchmark interest rate steady in the current 4.25% to 4.5% range, and gave no indication rate cuts were imminent. New economic projections released at the time showed officials at the median expect two quarter-point rate cuts by the end of the year, in line with current market pricing. In recent days, two Fed governors, both Trump appointees, have said rates could fall as soon as the July meeting, given inflation has not yet risen in response to tariffs, while three reserve bank presidents said they still worry inflation will intensify over the rest of the year. Trump, who appointed Powell as chair in his first term but is expected to replace him when his term ends next spring, has repeatedly called for steep rate cuts. “We should be at least two to three points lower,” he said in a social media post ahead of the hearing, adding in reference to Powell that he hoped “Congress really works this very dumb, hardheaded person, over.” (Reporting by Howard Schneider; Editing by Andrea Ricci)

A Deadly Tomb Fungus May Have Yielded a Killer Leukemia Treatment

A deadly fungus has been turned into a potent cancer-fighting compound after researchers isolated a new class of molecules from it. Aspergillus flavus, a toxic crop fungus linked to deaths in the excavations of ancient tombs—such as that of the boy pharaoh Tutankhamon—was recently used in a test against leukemia cells. The result? A promising […] The post A Deadly Tomb Fungus May Have Yielded a Killer Leukemia Treatment appeared first on Good News Network.
