The State Department released on Wednesday its plan to embed “equity” into all aspects of the foreign policy making process‚ claiming that “inequity is a national security challenge with global consequences.”  The report was released as part of an update to the Biden administration’s initiative to push diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion (DEI) policies at all levels of the federal government. These efforts include funding for foreign LGBT groups and pushing DEI into all aspects of the State Department’s policy making process. “Over the past two years‚ we increased our efforts to embed equity in our foreign affairs work through diplomatic engagements‚ high-level dialogues‚ multilateral efforts‚ foreign assistance‚ public diplomacy programs and messaging‚ and procurement and contracts‚” the report said. “These efforts have raised the visibility of racial and other inequities globally and generated better-informed foreign policy to decrease barriers to equity and equality worldwide.” The report comes as some Republicans have attempted to prevent the federal government from pushing DEI‚ saying that those efforts focus on race and sexual identity over competency. On Thursday‚ Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis fired back at a former employee who gave potentially damaging testimony about her relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade who was hired for the 2020 election interference case against former President Donald Trump in late 2021. Robin Bryant-Yeartie‚ a former employee in the DA’s office‚ testified vertically earlier in the day that Willis and Wade had been in a romantic relationship from 2019 to at least 2022 — contracting a claim by Willis that he did not begin a personal association with Willis until 2022 — and offered alleged details about their affectionate behavior. Willis‚ who dropped a motion trying to squash a subpoena for her testimony‚ showed up in court after Wade took the stand and insisted that they had not dated until around March 2022 and claimed Willis reimbursed him in cash for travel they did together in recent years. He also said they were no longer dating. Although Willis acknowledged that she has known Yeartie for decades‚ she said‚ “I have not spoken to Robin in over a year‚” lining up with around the time Yeartie testified she resigned from the DA’s office under threat of being fired. The Biden administration’s Justice Department filed a lawsuit Thursday against Tennessee’s aggravated prostitution law for people with HIV. The law‚ which imposes tougher penalties for engaging in prostitution while knowingly infected with HIV‚ violates the Americans with Disabilities Act‚ the Justice Department claims in its lawsuit. The department said Tennessee’s law elevates the crime simply “because the individual has HIV‚ regardless of any actual risk of harm.” “People living with HIV should not be subjected to a different system of justice based on outdated science and misguided assumptions‚” Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s civil rights division said in a statement. Tennessee’s law‚ passed in 1991‚ raises prostitution from a misdemeanor to a felony “when‚ knowing that such person is infected with HIV‚ the person engages in sexual activity as a business or is an inmate in a house of prostitution or loiters in a public place for the purpose of being hired to engage in sexual activity.” The law also requires people who are convicted of engaging in prostitution while HIV-positive to register for life as a “violent sex offender.” It is the only state with this requirement. This means the convicted person faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine up to $10‚000 for the felony charge‚ rather than just six months a fine up to $500 fine for a misdemeanor charge. Much of Tennessee’s prostitution occurs in the Memphis area. The man has been homeless at times‚ has had trouble finding a job‚ and is barred from seeing his nephew alone because of his conviction‚ the lawsuit says. The department’s lawsuit demands Tennessee get rid of the law and also expunge the convictions of those convicted under the law and take them off the sex offender registry. The state attorney general’s office has said it is aware of the complaint and plans to review it. In December‚ the Justice Department warned Tennessee about the law‚ saying the state could face a lawsuit if it does not stop enforcing it. Since 1991‚ there has been “significant progress” in understanding and treating HIV‚ Rebecca Bond‚ chief of the DOJ’s Disability Rights Section‚ wrote in a letter to Tennessee officials. “Beliefs and assumptions that individuals with HIV will spread it‚ or that having HIV is a death sentence‚ are now outdated and unfounded‚” Bond wrote. In recent weeks‚ Republican state lawmakers have proposed a change to the law that would remove the “violent sex offender” registration requirement for those who engage in prostitution with HIV. Earlier in October‚ the American Civil Liberties Union and the Transgender Law Center also filed a federal lawsuit over the law‚ saying they want it scrapped.

On Wednesday‚ there was a big announcement from the House Intelligence Committee. The House Intelligence Committee chair tweeted a statement suggesting that there was a serious national security threat the American public needed to be made aware of. This freaked everybody out because when vague national security related threats are made‚ suggesting they are serious enough they need to be declassified‚ everybody starts to have some palpitations. As it turns out‚ it appears there is intelligence suggesting Russia is going to attempt to deploy a nuclear anti-satellite system in space. Apparently‚ the Russians haven’t done it yet; the system is under development. We don’t know how far the technology has gone. There are two questions: What would it mean if Russia actually were to do so? And‚ why are we finding out about this now? To the first question: Presumably‚ America’s satellite technology would be seriously threatened‚ although if a nuke is detonated in space‚ it would not have the same ramifications as if it were detonated at high altitude. A nuclear weapon feeds on the air around it; it requires oxygen in order for it to continue expanding. WATCH: The Ben Shapiro Show So if a nuclear weapon explodes in a vacuum — if in space — it doesn’t have quite the same impact as a nuclear weapon at high altitude. Effectively‚ radiation is blasted out‚ which significantly damages or degrades pretty much all the satellites within the immediate orbit. It would create a sort of perennial hotspot in that place or cause satellites that pass through it to be significantly damaged. As the largest single investor in space capabilities‚ the United States could lose $200 billion per year of real gross output from its space assets. Military space assets would be degraded over time. A nuclear weapon in space would do great economic damage. Is this the kind of serious national security threat that requires everybody to go on panic mode for a full day where everybody is thinking‚ Oh‚ my God. I need my bunker? No. Now to the second question‚ which is: Why are we finding out about this now? Possibly to induce more support for Ukraine. I have sympathy for the idea of giving aid to Ukraine‚ but I don’t think that amount of aid should be $60 billion. I don’t believe the United States has an interest in allowing Russia to simply walk over the entirety of Ukraine. I think that has significant negative geopolitical ramifications for the United States and American citizens. But scaring the American people into green-lighting an aid package by releasing information about a serious national security threat doesn’t seem like a great tactic to get people in your corner.
