Free hot dogs? I like that.
What comes to mind when you think of the 4th of July? Fireworks? American flags? Standing outside in the blistering heat for hours on end? Those thing are all pretty much synonymous with the holiday that celebrates America’s independence, but let me be very clear… if you aren’t talking hot dogs on July 4th, I don’t want to talk.
The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest that’s held on the 4th of July is just as important as the fireworks that light up the night sky. And if you ask me, it’s our duty as citizens of this great country to shovel back as many glizzies as we can on July 4th. It’s what George Washington (and Joey Chestnut) would want us to do.
If throwing back hot dogs is on your agenda for the 4th of July, then you might like to know that there’s a Broadway Honky Tonk in downtown Nashville that’ll be handing out hot dogs for the low, low price of… nothing at all. No need to do a double take. You read that right. Glizzies free of charge are being dished out downtown, and you’ll never guess who’s behind the free hot dog movement.
Actually, you probably could make a pretty good guess:
“Free hotdogs on the rooftop? You bet. Starting at 2 p.m. on the 4th of July. Garth’s Friends In Low Places bar is giving out FREE hotdogs UNTIL WE RUN OUT – and yes, we mean it. No rules. Just buns, dogs, and the grill. A quarter million people are expected in Nashville, and Friends In Low Places is ready to feed as many as we can. Think you’re up for it?”

As you just saw, the country music couple shared a rather funny video to let the world know that hot dogs will be on the house at Garth’s Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk as Nashville celebrates America’s independence. And they’re gonna need a lot of glizzies, because Music City is expecting around a quarter of a million people for their Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th celebration.
Just as Garth and Trisha’s post clarified that they’ll be cooking up hot dogs until they run out, the official social media account for Friends In Low Places also noted that the glizzies are free until they’re all gone:
“Nashville’s throwing down for the 4th – and so are we! We’re firing up the grill at 2PM on the Oasis Rooftop and handing out FREE HOT DOGS UNTIL THEY’RE GONEEEE! First come, first served. No catch. Just hotdogs and holiday madness. With 250,000 people expected in the city, we figured we’d do our part to feed a few (thousand). The rooftop’s hot. The dogs are hotter. Don’t miss it.”

I’ve got to say… this is a pretty solid idea from Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and the Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk. How do you set yourself apart from all the other Broadway bars on the 4th of July? Be the one that hands out free food. I believe it was Kevin Costner in Field of Dreams that said, “If you grill the hot dogs, they will come.”
