Hostin‚ Navarro Defend Menendez from Ouster Calls‚ Fetterman Pushes Back

Things took an interesting turn on Friday’s edition of ABC’s The View in the wake of Republican Congressman George Santos (NY) getting ousted from the House in a bipartisan vote. While the liberal ladies generally cheered Santos’s ouster‚ lines were drawn when the corruption allegations against Democratic Senator Bob Menendez (NJ) were thrown into the mix. Co-hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin found themselves in the minority opinion‚ that he should remain a senator until after his trial. But they also found themselves in conflict with their guest‚ Senator John Fetterman (D-PA). Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin was the first to throw Menendez into the conversation while they were gleefully celebrating Santos getting kicked out. “If you're under federal investigation whether Donald Trump‚ Bob Menendez‚ George Santos‚ you should step aside‚ But‚ of course‚ no one does that‚” she said. Navarro‚ a close friend of Menendez‚ couldn’t help but immediately jump in to suggest that Santos was somehow worse‚ despite Menendez allegedly working as a foreign agent for Egypt. She touted Democrats for not rushing to oust her friend and suggested that he could beat the indictment (Click “expand”): NAVARRO: I think Democrats learned a lesson with Al Franken. HOSTIN: Al Franken. NAVARRO: Right? That they all moved indi – FARAH GRIFFIN: Well‚ this is far more serious. NAVARRO: Right. But the difference is that Bob Menendez was indicted once before‚ and beat the indictment. And so if he had been expelled‚ you know‚ so I think that's something that can be debated certainly‚ but that's the precedent that Bob Menendez has. “Look‚ I'm very angry at everything that Bob Menendez did‚ but I think there's a difference between Santos and Menendez‚” she tried to downplay Menendez’s alleged corruption.     Co-host Sara Haines quickly confronted Navarro to point out the real difference between the two. She argued that while Santos was “feckless‚” he had “no power” compared to Menendez who allegedly used and abused his committee chairmanship to benefit his Egyptian clients. “He needs to step aside‚” she added. When the story of Menendez getting indicted first broke‚ Navarro admitted that she had brought her “wealthy clients” to meet Menendez many times. In the past‚ racist and anti-Semitic Hostin had treated federal indictments as “guilty” rulings and bragged about federal prosecutors having a high success rate. But with Menendez‚ she wrote it off by scoffing: “You can indict a ham sandwich.” When Fetterman joined them later in the show‚ they kicked off the second round of questions with the Santos news and his calls to oust Menendez. Fetterman made the same point Haines did in that the Senate Democrat was a bigger concern and that the Senate needed to follow the House’s example. “I think the more important picture is that we have a colleague in the Senate that actually did much more sinister and serious kind of things: Senator Menendez. He needs to go. And if you are going to expel Santos‚ how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate?” he asked. He quipped that Santos’s lies were kind of “funny” while Menendez was acting as “a senator for Egypt‚ not New Jersey.” Hostin spoke up again in defense of the allegedly corrupt Democrat asking Fetterman: “Are you‚ though‚ uncomfortable with the fact that there hasn’t been an adjudication‚ that while he’s been charged‚ there hasn't been a conviction?” “[H]e has the right for his day in court and all that‚ but he doesn't have the right to have those kind of votes and things [in the Senate]. That's not a right‚” he shot her down. The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: ABC’s The View December 1‚ 2023 11:18:11 a.m. Eastern (…) ALYSSA FARH GRIFFIN: If you're under federal investigation whether Donald Trump‚ Bob Menendez‚ George Santos‚ you should step aside‚ But‚ of course‚ no one does that. ANA NAVARRO: I think Democrats learned a lesson – on that point‚ though. I think Democrats learned a lesson with Al Franken. SUNNY HOSTIN: Al Franken NAVARRO: Right? That they all moved indi – FARAH GRIFFIN: Well‚ this is far more serious. NAVARRO: Right. But the difference is that Bob Menendez was indicted once before‚ and beat the indictment. And so if he had been expelled‚ you know‚ so I think that's something that can be debated certainly‚ but that's the precedent that Bob Menendez has. Look‚ I'm very angry at everything that Bob Menendez did‚ but I think there's a difference between Santos and Menendez. SARA HAINES: I'll just jump in there. Yeah‚ I think the difference is George Santos is feckless. He has no power‚ never did anything. I do think Senator Menendez will be a problem and I think due process‚ he needs to step aside. HOSTIN: I would -- an -- you can indict a ham sandwich. I think he needs to go to trial. HAINES: Have you? HOSTIN: I have done so. [Laughter] (…) 11:36:20 a.m. Eastern JOY BEHAR: And you've also been calling to get rid of Menendez‚ I know. But first before we talk about that‚ what's your reaction to the expulsion? SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN (D-PA): Well‚ it's like -- I'm not surprised. But to me‚ I think the more important picture is that we have a colleague in the Senate that actually did much more sinister and serious kind of things: Senator Menendez. He needs to go. And if you are going to expel Santos‚ how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate? And‚ you know‚ Santos’s kind of lies were almost funny and‚ like‚ he landed on the moon and that kind of stuff. Whereas‚ you know‚ I think‚ you know‚ Menendez‚ I think is really a senator for Egypt‚ not New Jersey. So‚ I really think he needs to go‚ and especially it's kind of strange that if Santos is not allowed to remain in the House‚ you know‚ someone like that -- SUNNY HOSTIN: Are you‚ though‚ uncomfortable with the fact that there hasn’t been an adjudication‚ that while he’s been charged‚ there hasn't been a conviction? BEHAR: Menendez. BEHAR: With Menendez. FETTERMAN: I am‚ I am‚ and it's like he has the right for his day in court and all that‚ but he doesn't have the right to have those kind of votes and things that -- that's not a right. And I think we need to make that kind of decision to send him out. (…)

MSNBC Pans Alito For Having 'Erased' And 'Vaporized' O'Connor's Legacy

Slate senior editor and legal correspondent Dahlia Lithwick joined Friday’s edition of Jose Diaz-Balart on MSNBC to discuss the death of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and her legal legacy. Lithwick lamented that O’Connor being replaced by Samuel Alito has led to that legacy being “erased” and “vaporized” as the Court moves “very dramatically to the right.” Diaz-Balart inquired‚ “Dahlia‚ you also covered Justice Day O'Connor during her time on the bench. What do you think her biggest impact on the Court was?”     Lithwick began her reply by declaring that O’Connor was the Court’s “swing vote” and “for a very long time‚ she was that centrist who determined which way the 5-4 would go on so many seminal issues: affirmative action‚ on abortion‚ on church-state‚ on campaign finance. It was her way that determined how the country went.” That legacy of centrism was “in some sense because she was replaced‚ don't forget‚ by Samuel Alito‚ who moved the Court very dramatically to the right‚ there is a way in which her legacy was almost erased by virtue of who replaced her.” Continuing with that theme‚ Lithwick claimed that in “So many of the areas of the law where she kind of held fast were more or less vaporized when Justice Alito took her seat and I think the other thing I would say is she was the last member of the Supreme Court ever to have held elected office. She really knew how politics worked. And that leached into so much of the way she thought about doctrine. She understood in a way that I'm not sure any of the members of the current Court understand what it is to run for office.” Putting aside the fact that the Supreme Court isn’t supposed to be lake a legislature‚ when was the last time MSNBC or Lithwick-- was once claimed Justice John Paul Stevens embraced his "inner 'wise Latina woman'"--  decried a conservative having their legacy “vaporized” by somebody to their left? Here is a transcript for the Decmeber 1 show: MSNBC Jose Diaz-Balart Reports 11:45 AM ET 12/1/2023 JOSE DIAZ-BALART: Dahlia‚ you also covered Justice Day O'Connor during her time on the bench. What do you think her biggest impact on the Court was?  DAHLIA LITHWICK: It’s so interesting‚ you just heard two versions of the same O'Connor story‚ which is she was the swing vote. I mean‚ for a very long time‚ she was that centrist who determined which way the 5-4 would go on so many seminal issues: affirmative action‚ on abortion‚ on church-state‚ on campaign finance. It was her way that determined how the country went. And in some sense because she was replaced‚ don't forget‚ by Samuel Alito‚ who moved the Court very dramatically to the right‚ there is a way in which her legacy was almost erased by virtue of who replaced her. So many of the areas of the law where she kind of held fast were more or less vaporized when Justice Alito took her seat and I think the other thing I would say is she was the last member of the Supreme Court ever to have held elected office. She really knew how politics worked. And that leached into so much of the way she thought about doctrine. She understood in a way that I'm not sure any of the members of the current Court understand what it is to run for office.

‘Propaganda Machine’: Bongino Scolds Alex Soros for ‘Straight up Lying’ on Contentions DA Post

Syndicated radio host Dan Bongino called out Alex Soros‚ the son of leftist billionaire donor George Soros. for misleading his followers about the effects of his father’s destructive criminal justice goals.  Blasting Alex Soros as a “propaganda machine‚” Bongino laid into a recent Soros post on X (formerly Twitter) that said‚ “Where Are Murder Rates Actually Higher? Not in progressive cities” on the Nov. 28 edition of The Dan Bongino Show. Bongino said that Alex Soros was “straight up lying and he knows it.” Bongino cited the Community Note that was pinned to Soros’ post at that time‚ pointing out that five out of five of the cities with the highest murder rate‚ St. Louis‚ Baltimore‚ New Orleans‚ Detroit and Cleveland were run by Democrat mayors. Bongino did not stop there‚ noting the role that Alex Soros and his father George Soros have played in making Americans less safe through funding leftist prosecutors across the country.  “They have this obsession‚ it’s a bizarre obsession with chaos in liberal cities. They love the idea of criminals running wild‚” Bongino said of the Soros duo. Earlier in the show‚ Bongino drew attention to Alex Soros’ more active role in funding leftist politicians. “The son of George Soros‚ Alexander Soros‚ this guy is like a propaganda machine and he’s not as quiet as his dad. His dad was more kind of behind the scenes‚ influencing races‚ supporting this candidate and that candidate. The son is out there — like way out there — and he’s gonna take over for the dad‚ which is big trouble because they’ve got a lot of resources to make a lot of far-left stuff happen.” Bongino went on to explain why Soros wants “these liberal DA’s in these liberal cities letting people out on the street killing people‚” explaining that people like Soros “love chaos.” Bongino compared the anarcho-tyranny created by Soros’ criminal justice policies to a show about a zombie apocalypse:  “It’s The Walking Dead theory‚ where they walked into prison in that show about the zombies‚ The Walking Dead‚ they walk into prison and they lock the doors behind them because they’re afraid of the zombies on the outside‚” Bongino continued. “Think about this in ideological terms. It’s the same reason commies — like the Soros family — it’s the same reason they love street chaos. They need the chaos in the streets and the fear so that you’ll clamor for government and safety in this ideological prison to keep you safe from what’s on the outside.”  Indeed‚ George Soros has spent $35 million to elect dozens of radical prosecutors across the United States‚ including in major cities such as Philadelphia‚ Los Angeles‚ Chicago and New York City. These soft-on-crime prosecutors include Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg‚ Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner‚ Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx. These prosecutors have let dangerous criminals roam free in their communities‚ refused to enforce laws‚ signed radical pledges and devoted their energy to prosecuting crime victims rather than criminals. Bongino mocked Alex Soros for attempting to sidestep the consequences of his family’s actions‚ “So of course they elected all these folks. They elected these liberal [district attorneys] and what happened? Murder rates went crazy. Why? Because you’re letting murderers back on the street. None of this is complicated. So for some stupid reason‚ Soros thinks he’s going to do a [White House Press Secretary] Karine Jean-Pierre and gaslight everyone‚” Bongino said‚ before mocking Soros’ tweet‚ “Has this guy done magic mushrooms? What is he‚ crazy?” Conservatives are under attack! Contact ABC News (818) 460-7477‚ CBS News (212) 975-3247 and NBC News (212) 664-6192 and demand they report Soros’ connections to radical district attorneys throughout the country.

Philadelphia votes to ban ski masks in public; faces accusations of criminalizing young black men

The Philadelphia City Council has approved a ban on ski masks in hopes of cutting down on the violent crime that continues to plague the Democrat-run city. The bill‚ which passed in a landslide vote 13 to 2‚ is now headed to Mayor Jim Kenney for ratification. The city's attempt to deny anonymity to prospective murderers and thieves has rankled radical leftists who claim the ski mask ban criminalizes "fashion popular with Black and brown youth" and amounts to prejudice against "people of color." The ban The proposed amendment to the city code‚ originally introduced in June and cosponsored by 10 council members‚ states‚ "No person shall‚ with the specific intent to intimidate or threaten another person‚ or with the specific intent to hide one's identity during the commission of unlawful activity‚ wear a mask‚ hood‚ ski mask‚ balaclava‚ or other device or means of hiding‚ concealing or covering any any portion of the face for the purpose of concealing their identity on public property or private property." If ratified by Kenney‚ the bill would prohibit the wearing of ski masks in any school building‚ recreation center‚ day care‚ park‚ and city-owned building‚ as well as well as on public trains‚ buses‚ and trolleys. Religious garb‚ holiday and theatrical costumes‚ and face coverings worn for protection while participating in sports are exempted from the ban. Numerous states‚ including Florida‚ Georgia‚ and Virginia‚ have similar bans in place to keep potential criminals from disguising their identity. The council noted in the preamble to the amendment that the wearing of ski masks became prevalent in the city around 2020‚ corresponding with "an uptick of individuals wanted by the Police Department who wore ski masks in the commission of a crime." For instance‚ in June 2021‚ a pair of armed men in ski masks shot two people‚ one of them fatally. In September 2022‚ five masked individuals opened fire on a crowd at a junior varsity football game‚ killing a 14-year-old. In May‚ a thug in a ski mask killed a 15-year-old high school student on a public bus. Two months later‚ a gunman in a ski mask and body armor massacred five people and injured two children. Philadelphia has had 383 homicides so far this year‚ according the Philadelphia Police Department. As of Nov. 26‚ there had been 497 reported rapes so far this year; 2‚385 robberies involving a gun and 2‚416 robberies without; 2‚794 aggravated assaults with a gun and 4‚585 aggravated assaults without; over 5‚000 burglaries; 21‚763 reports of stolen vehicles; 16‚541 incidents of retail theft; 11‚768 car break-ins; and 14‚037 reports of unqualified theft. According to Neighborhood Scout‚ the chances of becoming a victim of a property crime or a violent crime are 1 in 38 and 1 in 123‚ respectively. "The use of ski masks by criminals to conceal their identities is both a public safety issues and a quality-of-life issue‚" said the preamble to the amendment. "Our quality of life suffers when residents feel at greater risk of experiencing crime while going about their daily lives in this City." Those found in violation of the ban will be hit with a $250 fine. Those wearing a ski mask while committing a crime will be hit with a fine of up to $2‚000. "Oftentimes these ski masks are used to conceal criminal conduct‚" said Councilmember Anthony Phillips‚ the author of the amendment‚ reported WHHY News. "We must do our duty and place the highest premium on restoring the public trust by having safer communities. This is what our neighbors have sent us to do‚" added Phillips. Claims that unmasking criminals is racist The bill was opposed by two council members‚ Kendra Brooks and Jamie Gauthier‚ reported the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I can't in good conscience vote for something that I feel would further criminalize and marginalize young Black men in our city‚" said Gauthier‚ "particularly when I don't feel like‚ as a city‚ we've done enough to engage them‚ listen to them‚ and support them." Brooks said‚ "My fear is that we're putting legislation on the books for a certain population that don't even realize that this is going to victimize them until it tarnishes the racial relationships between the police officers and young people." Jetson Cruz‚ an activist with the Youth Art and Self-empowerment Project‚ which advocates against trying young offenders as adults‚ suggested the ban "is just a reason to target the young people." "I've got to be worried about being stopped and harassed by the police for something I choose to wear‚" continued Cruz. "I've already got tattoos‚ and I'm already a person of color. It scares me." The ACLU of Philadelphia‚ among the leftist outfits that have taken issue with this effort to unmask potential thieves and murderers‚ suggested both that the bill might violate expression rights and that police might exploit the ban as a means to harass pedestrians. "This raises some serious concerns constitutionally‚" said Steve Loney‚ an attorney with the ACLU of Pennsylvania. "We've seen situations where just the knowledge that face coverings are banned in a place can still chill First Amendment activities." Another local ACLU attorney who calls himself Solomon Furious Worlds said the bill was "an attempt to further criminalize young people of color." Tara Schiraldi of the Defender Association of Philadelphia similarly suggested a mask ban was racially motivated‚ reported WHHY News. "The criminalization of fashion popular with Black and brown youth puts Philadelphia in terrible company‚" said Schiraldi. Like Blaze News? 2 Nevada state troopers conducting wellness check die after inebriated suspect crashes into them on Las Vegas expressway

Two Nevada state troopers were killed earlier this week after an intoxicated man allegedly struck them while they were conducting a wellness check on another Las Vegas motorist.Just before 3:30 a.m. on Thursday morning‚ Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix were checking on a driver who had reportedly fallen asleep on the northbound I-15 interstate near D Street‚ located just a few blocks northwest of Downtown Las Vegas. While the troopers were attending to the sleeping driver‚ another driver in a white Chevrolet HHR struck them and sped away.Sadly‚ one of the troopers died at the scene‚ while the other perished at a nearby hospital soon after‚ the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported‚ devastating the Nevada law enforcement community. In a moving tribute to their fallen brothers‚ members of agencies at both the state and local levels gathered as officers on motorcycles with flashing lights but no sirens led a solemn procession to transport Abbate's and Felix's remains from the Clark County Coroner's Office to the funeral home.Part of that procession can be seen in the clip below: Suspect in custody after 2 Nevada State Police troopers struck‚ killed on Las Vegas freeway www.youtube.com Abbate had been with the Nevada Highway Patrol for nearly a decade and was promoted to sergeant just a few weeks ago. Trooper Felix joined NHP in 2019 after serving honorably in the Air Force."Both Sergeant Abbate and Trooper Felix dedicated their careers to serving the State of Nevada with exceptional commitment and pride‚" said a statement from Nevada State Police Public Information Officer Kim Yoko Smith. "The Nevada State Police extends its heartfelt condolences to the families‚ friends‚ and colleagues of our fallen heroes. We respectfully request that the media maintain the privacy of the families and the Department during this challenging time." — (@) Gov. Joe Lombardo (R) — a former sheriff of Clark County‚ where Las Vegas is located — ordered all state and U.S. flags to be lowered to half-mast until the sunset after Abbate and Felix are interred. "This is a devastating loss for Nevada law enforcement‚ the city of Las Vegas‚ and our entire state‚" the sheriff turned governor said in a statement. "As we mourn these troopers‚ we will never forget their bravery‚ courage‚ and sacrifice."As Nevada troopers prepared to bury two of their own‚ local officers with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department began the work of tracking down the driver who killed them. By 8 a.m. Thursday morning‚ just hours after the deadly hit-and-run‚ police discovered the white HHR in the parking lot of an area apartment complex and soon afterward arrested 46-year-old Jemarcus Williams in connection with the case.Williams has a long history of traffic violations in Las Vegas dating all the way back to 2007‚ the LVRJ reported. That year‚ Williams pled no contest to a DUI charge. In the following three years‚ he was arrested for allegedly driving without a license on four separate occasions. He also pled no contest to failing to yield the right of way in 2020.This time‚ the charges against Williams are much more serious. He now faces six felonies: two counts of reckless driving resulting in death‚ two counts of DUI resulting in death‚ and two counts of failing to stop at the scene of a crash. When he is scheduled to appear in court and whether he has retained an attorney are currently unknown.Like Blaze News? DeSantis lands knockout blow just minutes into debate with an assist from Newsom's own father-in-law

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) used Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom's own father-in-law to land a knockout punch in the opening minutes of their Fox News debate.Citing data from the U.S. Census Bureau‚ the first question that moderator Sean Hannity asked focused on the droves of people leaving California and the influx of Americans moving to Florida. The data shows that California lost approximately 750‚000 people in 2021-2022‚ while Florida gained approximately 450‚000 residents over that same time period. When Newsom twice refused to address the question — choosing‚ instead‚ to attack DeSantis — the Florida governor whipped out a stinging anecdote."I've talked to a lot of the people who have moved from California to Florida‚ and we never used to get people from California to Florida‚" DeSantis began. "Why would you leave California? It's got the best weather —"DeSantis continued‚ despite Newsom repeatedly interrupting him:So I was talking to a fella who had made the move from California to Florida‚ and he was telling me that Florida is much better governed‚ safer‚ better budget‚ lower taxes‚ all this stuff. He's really happy with the quality of life‚ and then he paused and he said‚ "You know‚ by the way‚ I'm Gavin Newsom's father-in-law." So we do count Gavin's in-laws as some of the people that have fled California and come to the state of Florida."People understand quality of life matters. They understand Florida is doing it right‚" DeSantis explained. It's true. DeSantis is doing something right in Florida‚ and it's why he won re-election in a landslide 20-point victory last year. DeSantis torches Newsom with jaw-dropping line about father-in-law www.youtube.com After the debate — which Newsom's wife reportedly ended when it went into overtime — Newsom's team complained that DeSantis‚ Hannity‚ and Fox News broke the rules that all sides agreed to beforehand.Fox News and DeSantis denied those allegations. Anti-Israel hackers breached Pennsylvania water authority

Anti-Israel hackers recently breached a Pennsylvania water authority‚ prompting a temporary halt in pumping that impacted the water pressure for some nearby residents‚ the Associated Press reported Friday. The Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa‚ Pennsylvania‚ was hacked by a group who call themselves the "Cyber Av3ngers." The "hacktivists" have been linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps‚ according to Cyberscoop. The outlet noted that the group has "a history of making exaggerated and false claims about their hacking exploits."The hackers claimed to have attacked the remote water authority because some of the facility's equipment is linked to Israel. The group left an electronic calling card on a device at the facility that stated‚ "You have been hacked.""Down with Israel‚" the calling card continued. "Every equipment 'made in Israel' is Cyber Av3ngers legal target."The device‚ made by Israel-based Unitronics‚ is a programmable logic controller that regulates pressure‚ temperature‚ and fluid flow in many industries‚ including water and sewage treatment facilities and electric‚ oil‚ and gas companies.Due to the attack‚ the Aliquippa facility temporarily halted pumping on Saturday‚ taking the system offline and switching to manual operation.According to the AP‚ the hackers used identical language on social media platforms X and Telegram on Sunday. In an October post on X‚ the group claimed to have "infiltrated" 10 water treatment stations located in Israel."Once we obtained access to their network‚ Established [sic] to manipulate‚ wipe and destruct [sic] all industrial equipment‚" the group wrote. It is unclear whether the hackers shut down any facilities. Pennsylvania Democrats Senator John Fetterman‚ Senator Bob Casey‚ and Representative Chris Deluzio sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting that the Department of Justice investigate the incident."Any attack on our nation's critical infrastructure is unacceptable‚" the three lawmakers wrote. "If a hack like this can happen here in western Pennsylvania‚ it can happen anywhere else in the United States."Casey's office stated that the United States officials confirmed that Cyber Av3ngers was behind the attack."A municipal water authority in Aliquippa is the target here‚ and that controls something we all rely on: access to water‚" Deluzio told CBS. "So that's where the vulnerabilities are. We've got to shore up defenses and help local government‚ help private vendors where they're involved‚ lift up their cybersecurity."Matthew Mottes‚ the Pennsylvania water facility's chairman‚ said that government officials told him that the group attacked four other water authorities and an aquarium."We've been told that we are not the only authority that's been affected in the country‚ but we are believed to be the first‚" Mottes said. He noted that he is not sure how the device was hacked.According to the federal government‚ hackers gained access "by exploiting cybersecurity weaknesses‚ including poor password security and exposure to the internet."The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency stated that it is "aware" of the cyberattack and is "closely engaged with sector and interagency partners to understand this evolving situation and provide any necessary support or guidance."Like Blaze News?
