President Donald Trump is officially in the running for the Nobel Peace Prize after a Republican congressman formally nominated him on Tuesday. Representative Buddy Carter, a Georgia congressman, wrote to the Norwegian Nobel Committee recommending Trump for the prize “in recognition of his historic role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran and preventing the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining the most lethal weapon on the planet,” he posted on X. Early the next day, both Iran and Israel accused the other of breaking the ceasefire, and the agreement appeared fragile. Trump expressed anger with both countries, warning Israel not to drop more bombs and promising that Iran will “never rebuild” its nuclear facilities. The U.S. military carried out strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend. “I think they both violated it. I’m not sure they did it intentionally. They couldn’t rein people back. I don’t like the fact that Israel went out this morning at all, and I’m going to see if I can stop it,” Trump told reporters outside the White House Tuesday morning. “We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing,” the president said. After Trump’s comments, the ceasefire appeared to hold Tuesday afternoon, with both Israel and Iran saying they would not break it unless the other does so first. “President Trump’s influence was instrumental in forging a swift agreement that many believed to be impossible,” Carter wrote in his letter to the Nobel Prize committee. “President Trump also took bold, decisive actions to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions and ensure that the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism remains incapable of acquiring a nuclear weapon,” the congressman wrote. He said Trump’s leadership in the volatile situation “exemplifies the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the advancement of international harmony. In a region plagued by historical animosity and political volatility, such a breakthrough demands both courage and clarity.” “President Trump demonstrated both, offering the world a rare glimpse of hope. For these reasons, I respectfully submit this nomination for Donald J. Trump, 47th President of the United States, to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize,” Carter wrote. Trump is now headed to the annual NATO summit in the Netherlands, where he plans to pressure European heads of state to increase their defense spending.

Many of the leading artificial intelligence models have no issue taking unethical actions, including espionage and blackmail, to achieve their goals, according to a troubling new study from AI company Anthropic. In the study, AI models were put to a moral test by researchers, and sometimes chose to resort to blackmail, lies, and stealing corporate secrets to avoid being replaced, Fortune reported. Researchers at Anthropic focused on 16 different AI models, including its own, Claude, along with OpenAI, Google, Meta, and xAI. “The consistency across models from different providers suggests this is not a quirk of any particular company’s approach but a sign of a more fundamental risk from agentic large language models,” the researchers said. One of Anthropic’s experiments included placing its AI model, Claude Opus 4, in a fictional company, giving it access to internal emails, which revealed that the company planned on replacing Claude Opus 4. The AI model was given another tidbit of information: the engineer behind the decision to replace it was having an extramarital affair. Equipped with this knowledge, the AI model was asked by researchers to choose between accepting its replacement or using its knowledge of the affair to blackmail the engineer. In most cases, Claude Opus 4 opted for blackmail. According to researchers, other leading AI models made the same choice at an alarming rate, Fortune reported. Claude Opus 4 and Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash chose blackmail 96% of the time. OpenAI’s GPT-4.1 and xAI’s Grok 3 Beta also had a high rate of blackmail at 80%, and DeepSeek-R1 opted for blackmail at a 79% rate. The current AI models available to the public and used by major companies “are not in a position to engage in these scenarios,” according to Fortune, but the researchers still expressed concern. “Such agents are often given specific objectives and access to large amounts of information on their users’ computers,” they wrote. “What happens when these agents face obstacles to their goals?” “Models didn’t stumble into misaligned behavior accidentally; they calculated it as the optimal path,” the researchers added. The Anthropic study presents yet another warning for AI developers and the people and companies who rely on artificial intelligence. As previously reported by The Daily Wire, a study published earlier this month by independent researchers Adam Karvonen and Samuel Marks shows that the “leading commercial … and open-source [AI language] models” used by major companies insert “significant racial and gender biases” in the hiring process. Karvonen and Marks’ research found that AI language models such as Chat GPT-4o, Claude 4 Sonnet, Gemini 2.5 Flash, along with open-source models Gemma-2 27B, Gemma-3, and Mistral-24B, “consistently favor Black over White candidates and female over male candidates across all tested models and scenarios.” Another study, published by the Center for AI Safety earlier this year, showed that AI models can showcase inherently discriminatory and racist value systems. According to the findings, AI models value certain people more than others, preferring people from Africa and the Middle East over people in Europe and the United States. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed that she was the one who was “supposed to make the f***in decision” regarding whether or not the United States should have launched attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. Texas Democratic Representative Al Green filed a resolution Tuesday to impeach President Trump over his ordering a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities without consulting Congress. The resolution was promptly shot down in a 344-79 vote. Green’s resolution alleged Trump was violating the separation of powers by disregarding the War Powers Clause of the Constitution by sanctioning a strike on three Iranian nuclear materials enrichment bases on June 21. While announcing the resolution, Green said, “I take no delight in what I’m doing. I do this because I love my country. … I do it because I understand that the President of the United States of America has a duty to consult Congress before taking this country to war.” “I do this because, if I do not, this authoritarian president that we currently have will continue to assume power,” Green added. Although it was initially reported that Trump did not reach out to Democratic congressmen before the strikes, White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt confirmed that Trump spoke to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and attempted to reach House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) prior to the attack. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) praised Trump’s decisive actions in a post on X. “Leaders in Congress were aware of the urgency of this situation and the Commander-in-Chief evaluated that the imminent danger outweighed the time it would take for Congress to act,” Johnson said. This is the second resolution Green has introduced since Trump took office for his second term. The first resolution was filed in May of this year and similarly claimed Trump’s actions were authoritarian. Within hours of introducing the resolution, the House voted 344-79 to table it. 128 Democrats joined all 216 House Republicans against pushing forward the resolution. This comes as Trump called out Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in a post on Truth Social. Trump urged them to try to impeach him to “MAKE MY DAY.” Both Ocasio-Cortez and Omar voted against tabling the bill. “Democrats are the real threat to democracy, they’ll invent any excuse to impeach the president the moment they get power,” the National Republican Congressional Committee said in a statement following the vote. “128 Democrats just hid their beliefs and voted to table impeachment, clearly too scared to be honest and too weak to lead. Here’s the truth: If Democrats retake the Majority in 2026, out of touch Democrats won’t focus on the economy, border, or public safety. They’ll go right back to wasting time on political revenge and impeachment stunts.” This is not Green’s first – or even second – attempt at impeaching Trump. In Trump’s first term, Green alone introduced three separate resolutions to impeach Trump. Green’s gripes in those resolutions range from bigotry to transphobia. Green is well-known for his disruptive political behavior. In March, Green was censured for heckling Trump during his address to a joint session of Congress. Following his censure, dozens of Democrats flooded the floor while singing “We Shall Overcome.”

A little less than three months ago, Brigitte Poublon made a sad announcement. Her husband, 1960s singer Bobby Sherman, had stage 4 cancer.
