ABC News host Jonathan Karl stopped California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom on Sunday after he claimed that President Joe Biden had “the best three-year record of any modern American presidency.” Newsom said he was working to “lift up the issues‚ the successes — the extraordinary successes of the last three years‚ the Biden-Harris administration‚ and then we drive contrast.” “It’s not even a complicated campaign. We have the receipts‚” he said. “We have the best three-year record of any modern American presidency‚ period‚ full stop. And you look at the issue‚ issue by issue‚ they poll overwhelmingly‚ the American people support what Biden has done.” “Except for the big thing‚ approval‚” Karl responded. “Biden’s approval is historically low. Why is that?” Newsom dodged answering the question except to say it’s “been hard‚ globally‚ the last six‚ seven years.” “The economic strategy‚ as this president’s put together‚ were all things Republicans dreamt of‚ but never delivered‚” he added. “He’s delivered.” When Karl asked about the historic border crisis that has unfolded under the Biden administration and what should happen to the millions of illegal aliens that have flooded into the U.S.‚ Newsom again dodged giving specifics and blamed Republicans. “Well‚ I think you have to deal with the cards that are dealt. You’ve got to deal with the reality on the ground. And you have to have a comprehensive conversation around this‚ across the spectrum‚ the push and the pull‚” he said. “And that’s around the fundamental issue‚ immigration reform. It’s not just border security. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he is open to joining with the Libertarian Party as he races to get on the ballot in all 50 states before the November election. CNN’s Michael Smerconish pressed Kennedy during an interview that aired on Saturday whether it was possible that he would seek to be the Libertarian candidate as it would assure him of getting on the ballot across the board. “That’s something that we’re looking at. We have a really good relationship with Libertarian Party‚” Kennedy said‚ adding that he expects to speak at the California Libertarian Party convention in the coming weeks and may also deliver remarks in New York. Kennedy initially entered the 2024 contest seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination‚ but he switched to an independent run after raising complaints about how the Democrats have conducted their election process‚ including a lack of debates. Some polls show Kennedy getting double-digit support in a match-up against President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump‚ which comes as surveys find voters are not enthusiastic about a 2020 rematch. I’m talking regularly to Libertarian groups. So‚ we’ll continue to do those talks‚” Kennedy said. “I can’t give you a headline news story today‚ Michael. I’m sorry.”

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) said during an interview over the weekend that former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley should drop out of the Republican Party presidential primary because former President Donald Trump dominates news coverage and because poll numbers show that Trump has a dominant lead over her. Scott made the remarks during a Sunday ABC News interview with Martha Raddatz on “This Week” when asked by Raddatz why he believes that Haley should drop out. “Well‚ there’s two things for sure‚” he said. “Number one‚ Donald Trump gets more earned media‚ probably a billion dollars already‚ because of who he is and what’s going on around him‚ number one.” “Number two‚ I think he was outspent in Iowa and New Hampshire by his opponents‚” he continued. “One thing we know for sure‚ as this race turns to South Carolina‚ that the enthusiasm in South Carolina for the former president has never been higher. I’ve seen polls that suggest he’s up by 20 points. I would make a prediction that he wins by more than 20 percent in South Carolina.” He said that the writing has been “clear on the wall” for months that “Republicans‚ conservatives‚ and a lot of independents” want “four more years of Donald Trump.” “I will say‚ one of the things I found to be surprising and positive is that amongst millennial voters‚ President Trump won 58 to 38‚” Scott later responded. “It was a 20-point gap among young voters. Among women voters‚ in New Hampshire‚ where liberal‚ Democrats and independents voted in the Republican primary‚ President Trump beat Nikki Haley among women.” “So‚ when I think about the fact – when I think about the fact that African Americans‚ at the highest level in my lifetime‚ is looking at a Republican over 20 percent‚ Hispanics over 40 percent‚” he continued. “This is a good time to be running as a Republican.”

Snoop Dogg now says he has “nothing but love and respect” for Donald Trump‚ apparently putting aside any beef that he had with the former president. The rapper and actor‚ who was born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.‚ shared with the Sunday Times his current view on Trump‚ who is in the middle of running another campaign for the White House. “Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me‚” Snoop Dogg said‚ according to the Daily Mail. “He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris. So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.” Just before leaving office in January of 2021‚ Trump commuted the sentence of Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris‚ among others in the Hip Hop community‚ after he spent roughly 30 years in prison on attempted murder and drug-trafficking charges. Snoop Dogg‚ whose career took off under the Death Row Record banner and has since purchased the record label‚ played a roll in pushing for Harris to get freedom‚ the Daily Beast reported. After the release‚ Snoop Dogg praised the “great work” by Trump and his team for granting clemency to Harris. “Let them know that I love what they did‚” Snoop Dogg said in a Zoom call‚ per the New York Post. “It is amazing what the work of God can actually bring to life to make people understand that there is a God.” Snoop Dogg made headlines in 2017 when he released the music video for a song named Lavender in which he shot a clown dressed as Trump in the head with a toy gun. Billboard reported him saying the “whole world is clownin’ around” and listing gripes with Trump and the treatment of minorities by the criminal justice system. Trump fired back after the music video came out‚ posting a tweet from the official account of the president that said‚ “Can you imagine what the outcry would be if [Snoop Dogg]‚ failing career and all‚ had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!” Among other instances of animosity between the pair included Snoop Dogg posting a video to social media of himself in 2018 smoking what appeared to be a blunt outside the White House and saying “f***” Trump. Snoop Dogg trolled President Joe Biden‚ who may be headed toward a rematch of 2020 against Trump in this year’s general election‚ with a post to Instagram in 2022 showing the image of a “Sleepy Joe OG” strain of weed.
