When Ozzy Osbourne finally met Brian Wilson on a stairwell, things took a strange turn. He had waited more than thirty minutes, already frustrated and intoxicated. Trying to be polite, he offered his condolences, saying, “Sorry to hear about your brother, Brian.” But Wilson gave him a puzzled look and walked away in silence. Annoyed, Ozzy shouted after him, unaware that the real problem was a misheard phrase.

The next morning, Sharon Osbourne got a phone call that cleared everything up. She told Ozzy that he hadn’t offered sympathy at all. Instead, through his slurred speech, he had said, “Hello, Brian, you f—ing a—e. I’m glad to hear your brother’s dead.” Horrified, Ozzy denied it, blaming the cocaine and alcohol from the night before. Still, he called Wilson twice to apologize and make things right.
