A big surprise in Fort Worth. Ella Langley played the world’s largest honky tonk last night, playing to a sold-out crowd at Billy Bob’s Texas. The Alabama native has been touring all around Texas this weekend as a part of her Still Hungover tour. The timing of this Texas leg was perfectly planned, given the release of her latest single “Choosin’ Texas,” and the crowds are showing up and showing out to belt out the new one, along with many of Langley’s older gems. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ella Langley (@ellalangleymusic) Last night in Fort Worth, Langley surprised the crowd by bringing out Koe Wetzel for a rocking duet of their song “That’s Why We Fight.” Langley released the electric tune as the lead single off her EP, Excuse the Mess. At the time of its release, she shared that it was the most toxic song she’d ever written. I think “Never Met Anyone Like You” featuring gives “That’s Why We Fight” a run for its money now, but it’s still a heater of a tune. She shared: “‘That’s Why We Fight’ is about one of those relationships where fighting is the thing that keeps you together. Your significant other is your favorite person to fight with. It adds a little spice and keeps things interesting. I wouldn’t recommend a relationship like this, but we’ve all had one. I’ve been a fan of Koe for a long time, and it was really cool he jammed on it.” The lyrics depict a toxic relationship, perfectly capturing the high highs and low lows of fighting, making up, loving hard, and  having the cycle repeat itself: “I drive you crazy, it drives me out my mind, But baby, we do one thing right, That’s why we fight, Put lightning in the sky, Start smashing every bottle we keep bottled up inside, I take it out on you, Take it out on me too Yeah, we know some hell takes us to heaven every time” And of course, with Koe’s twangy vocals layered in, it made for a powerful single release and is still a fan favorite from her catalog. Last night, when Wetzel joined the Langley on the Billy Bob’s stage, the packed venue went wild. Koe came out right before his lyrics in the second verse, and remained on stage during the rest of the performance. Langley and Wetzel sound just as good on stage years later as they did in the studio to record this rocking song. Langley and Wetzel were feeding off the energy of the crowd, making it on helluva performance. Billy Bob’s got quite the show last night, and it was the perfect duet to wrap up this leg of Texas shows for Langley.
