Democrats have some major problems. We are about one year away from the midterm elections. It is worthwhile to note that in the RealClearPolitics polling average, Democrats right now are leading by roughly 1.6 points in the generic congressional vote, within the margin of error. Every single poll over the course of the last month has the margin between Democrats up three points and Republicans up one point. There are no polls showing Democrats with a significant advantage on the 2026 generic congressional ballot. Just so you understand how these things stack up, in 2018, when Democrats had a great election, Democrats netted 40 seats in the House and took the House by a significant majority. The RealClearPolitics polling average had Democrats on Election Day in the generic congressional average up by 8.4 points. Today, it’s more like 2022, when Republicans won nine seats, which was a very narrow victory. The RealClearPolitics polling average had Republicans up 2.8 points, and there are significantly fewer competitive battleground districts this time around, thanks to both redistricting and population movement. According to Cook Political, there are effectively eight seats that are toss-up seats held by Republicans, but could theoretically move Democrat. There are ten Democrat toss-up seats, including seats in California, Maine, New York, Ohio and Texas. This means it could be an unbelievably close election — at best — for Democrats. And there is the significant possibility that if redistricting occurs in Texas, the Republicans will retain the House. Democrat chances right now are plummeting. Part of that is because they have no narrative whatsoever. They have major problems. They trotted out their “No Kings” protest over the weekend. They got roughly seven million people to show up. But the salient point about gigantic mass protests like this is if they have no crossover appeal, it makes no difference at all. If you look at the popular vote in 2024, you’ll notice that Kamala Harris won 75 million votes. Getting seven million Kamala Harris voters out into the streets to be angry at President Trump doesn’t mean anything. It’s less than 1/10 of the number of people who actually voted for Kamala Harris. How many registered independents or Republicans were at the “No Kings” protest? The answer is: close to zero. Thus, it’s just all performative outrage for the Democrats. They are hoping in the end that they have higher voter enthusiasm in 2026 than Republicans do. Evidence of that exists, but it is starting to wane. There is some evidence that Democrats are animated to vote. In excess of 70% of Democrats are saying they are animated to vote in 2026; for Republicans the numbers are in the mid-50s, but those numbers are likely to close before the election. The more performative Democrats look, the more they seem tired and gray and old and with nothing in the tank. For example, there’s Nancy Pelosi, who’s now 176 years-old and remembers the Battle of Antietam in the Civil War. Well, she made a little video for social media where she broke a crown in order to show there were no kings. This is a lady who has been in Congress longer than most kings reign on their thrones and is worth over $100 million. And she is going to be talking about the oligarchs and the kings, dentures a-clacking? MCNBC’s Nicolle Wallace, from the fan network for the “No Kings” rallies, said the thing about this opposition is that it’s “led by the people.”  No, it’s not. It’s an opposition led by a bunch of grassroots astroturf organizations like labor unions and the Communist Party USA. If you can find me ten people — we’re now doing the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah here — if you can find me ten people in the crowds who were registered Republicans and voted for Donald Trump in the last election cycle, I will be very, very surprised. Rep. Jamie Raskin also tried to make all of this into some sort of gigantic popular uprising, saying, “This is right now the largest set of demonstrations that’s ever occurred in American history. I don’t know that there’s ever been seven million people who have assembled in unity against an administration that has been so determined to violate the civil rights and civil liberties of the people, usurp the powers of Congress, and trampled the Constitution as well as shut down the U.S. government.”  The idea that this is a gigantic popular uprising is betrayed by the polls. There is no evidence that President Trump is in any serious trouble here. He seems to be absolutely Teflon right now. Trump knows this, and he’s enjoying it. President Trump put out a viral video via Truth Social of him flying his poop jet over the rallies. Meanwhile, Democrats legitimately can’t take a joke. Bernie Sanders — the only male “The View” will invite on their show — was outraged over President Trump’s fake AI poop bomb. He declared, “Trump may be crazy, and he may be a liar. … I don’t know what world these guys are living in; the president of the United States dropping feces on an American city.” Hello? He didn’t literally drop feces on an American city. He put out an AI video that is legitimately hilarious. The performative outrage is really something to watch. Democrats are trying to create havoc with the government shutdown, and people are not panicked. They’re not feeling the havoc. It isn’t having much of an impact, as Harry Enten on CNN admitted, saying, “The bottom line is this: The first shutdown during Trump’s first term, 2018/2019, was hurting Donald Trump. This one is not hurting him at all.” The reason it’s not hurting Trump is because Americans recognize that eventually the shutdown will come to an end, people will get their back pay, and that will be it. The polls show that Democrats are not gaining any momentum from the shutdown. That’s because until five minutes ago, Democrats always opposed government shutdowns. They wanted the government to continue functioning and running no matter what. So that’s a losing issue for them, too. President Trump is having a great time. Daily Wire host Michael Knowles will testify before the United States Senate next week on the rise of political violence in America. Knowles will appear before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution Monday at the invitation of subcommittee chairman Eric Schmitt for a hearing titled Politically Violent Attacks: A Threat to Our Constitutional Order. Knowles, who frequently speaks on college campuses and faced the threat of Antifa violence during a 2023 speech, says the hearing could not come at a more crucial time. “This recent uptick in left-wing violence is the culmination of years—really decades—of consistent assaults on their opponents,” Knowles said. “A ‘free marketplace of ideas’ simply cannot exist when ideological bandits keep shooting up the marketplace. I’m grateful to Senator Schmitt for convening this important hearing to discuss how Congress can reassert order and hold to account the left-wing ideologues undermining our public square.” In Pennsylvania, multiple individuals were sentenced to years in jail earlier this year for throwing smoke bombs at Michael during a 2023 speech at the University of Pittsburgh. The United States has seen a stark increase in political violence in recent years, which includes two assassination attempts on President Donald Trump and the recent assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. “The tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk shook the nation to its core, and it was the latest in a long list of examples of left-wing political violence,” Schmitt said in a statement. “The rise of political violence on the left is deeply disturbing and antithetical to American values, disturbs the free exercise of our constitutional rights, and is a threat to our constitutional order,” said Senator Schmitt. Knowles, host of The Michael Knowles Show, spoke at the first stop of Charlie Kirk’s campus tour in Minnesota the day after the TPUSA founder’s funeral, where activists chanted “Michael Knowles has got to go” and displayed signs mocking Kirk’s death. As one of the most prominent cultural commentators at The Daily Wire, Michael has dedicated significant attention to exposing the conditions that enable left-wing political violence and has urged policymakers to take meaningful steps to safeguard civil discourse. “As Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, I look forward to getting the American people the answers they deserve about the realities of left-wing political violence,” said Senator Schmitt. The hearing will take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 2:30 pm ET.

A bombshell report released Tuesday by the Department of Homeland Security revealed that FEMA’s targeting of Trump supporters was not an isolated incident, contradicting testimony by former President Joe Biden’s FEMA chief.  The DHS Privacy Office said that an investigation into FEMA found that the agency has been tracking the political beliefs of conservative disaster survivors since at least September 2021. The probe was launched by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in response to a Daily Wire report exposing a FEMA employee for instructing her team to “avoid homes advertising Trump” in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.  Those instructions, given by a FEMA employee named Marn’i Washington who was fired after The Daily Wire report, told relief workers canvassing Lake Placid, Florida, to skip the homes of people with Trump yard signs or flags. In response to this report, Deanne Criswell, who led FEMA under Biden, claimed that the incident was isolated and did not reflect the agency’s standard practices.  However, this political weaponization was “not isolated,” the DHS report found, saying that it had “uncovered evidence that this also occurred during other disasters across the nation.” Since Hurricane Ida in September 2021, FEMA employees have made notes about the political beliefs of disaster survivors like “angry political rant,” “Sign states I’m a bitter gun owner clinging to my religion,” “Homeowner had a sign stating… this is trump country,” and “[P]ro gun sign.”  Other notes left in the FEMA system included statements like “There was a political flyer so I didn’t leave FEMA brochure” and “… a lot of explicit political flags, posters, etc. ‘F*** Joe Biden’ ‘MAGA 2024’ ‘Joe Biden Sucks’ ‘Trump 2024’ We do not recommend anyone visiting this location.”  “The federal government was withholding aid against Americans in crisis based on their political beliefs — this should horrify every American, regardless of political persuasion,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. “For years, FEMA employees under the Biden Administration intentionally delayed much-needed aid to Americans suffering from natural disasters on purely political grounds.” DHS said that Noem had referred the incident in Lake Placid to the Department of Justice for further investigation and potential prosecution. The DHS report found that FEMA violated the Privacy Act of 1974 by collecting and storing records tied to protected speech. The investigation “exposed widespread gaps in FEMA’s policies, processes, and procedures, resulting in systemic violations that unfairly targeted individuals across the country,” the report found.  “The DHS Privacy Office examined screenshots of the tool that FEMA canvassers use to collect information from disaster survivors and data extracted from the tool’s database,” the report said.  “The tool’s information indicated that canvassers included information related to political party affiliation, campaign signs, and other information related to freedom of expression.” Since September 2021, FEMA employees and contractors flagged things like “gun signage” 72 times, “Trump” 15 times, “firearms” five times, “political” three times, and “Biden” and “NRA” twice, respectively.  Other examples of things logged into FEMA’s tracking system were notes like “angry political rant,” “Sign states I’m a bitter gun owner clinging to my religion,” “Homeowner had a sign stating… this is trump country.” These findings were all part of the investigation Noem launched into FEMA in response to Washington’s guidance in Florida. The findings appear to contradict FEMA Administrator Criswell’s November 19 testimony to the House Oversight Committee.  “We are working with the inspector general to determine whether or not this is broader than this, but the evidence that I have seen so far shows that this was an isolated incident, and it has not gone beyond what this one employee did,” she said at the time.  The Florida incident prompted actions from dozens of elected officials and investigations from the state of Tennessee, the state of Florida, the House Homeland Security Committee, the House Oversight Committee, an internal FEMA investigation, America First Legal, the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General, and the Office of Special Counsel. It was also referenced in an executive order from Trump ordering FEMA to be dramatically reformed.
