Politico reported: House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan is asking the Justice Department to prosecute former CIA director John Brennan for allegedly lying to Congress more than two years ago. It’s the latest move in the GOP’s campaign to leverage the justice system against President Donald Trump’s political adversaries. In a letter Tuesday to Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Ohio Republican claimed Brennan, who led the CIA during a probe of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, “knowingly made false statements during his transcribed interview” with the panel back in May 2023. Jordan’s allegations center around Brennan’s comments at that time regarding the so-called Steele dossier — a series of largely discredited memos created by a former British intelligence officer, Christopher Steele, that accused Trump and his allies of orchestrating a sweeping election conspiracy with the Kremlin. The accusations center around Brennan’s 2023 testimony before Congress, in which he claimed that the CIA was not involved in any way with the notorious Steele dossier. Of course, thanks to Tulsi Gabbard declassifying the Russiagate documents, we now know that wasn’t the truth. But a newly declassified House Intelligence Committee report says the CIA did work with the FBI to disseminate information from the Steele dossier. Mr. Brennan also testified that he “opposed” including information from the dossier in a 2017 intelligence community assessment that Russia meddled in the 2016 election to help President Trump win. But Mr. Jordan said “multiple sources,” including a now-declassified CIA memo and the House Intelligence Committee report, say Mr. Brennan personally fought to defend the information. After officers detailed the dossier’s flows, Mr. Brennan is quoted as saying, “Yes, but doesn’t it ring true?” He ordered the information’s inclusion over the objections of his agency’s staff, the House intelligence report said. “Brennan’s testimony before the committee on May 11, 2023, was a brazen attempt to knowingly and willfully testify falsely and fictitiously to material facts,” Mr. Jordan said. The Ohio congressman told The Washington Times in an interview this month that he expected criminal charges against Mr. Brennan. “It looks to me like he may have misled Congress,” Mr. Jordan said. “We are looking at that.” The FBI was already investigating Mr. Brennan, according to news reports in July that said the bureau received a referral after current CIA Director John Ratcliffe released a review of his agency’s behavior surrounding the 2016 election. Rumors have swirled this week, that President Trump will commute the sentence of Sean “Diddy” Combs. The rumors began after TMZ reported President Trump was weighing in on possibly commuting the sentence of Diddy who was sentenced to 50 months in prison after being found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The White House has since poured cold water on those rumors. NBC News had more to details to report on the White House responses to the rumors: A White House official on Tuesday pushed back on a report that President Donald Trump is considering commuting Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison sentence as soon as this week. TMZ reported on Monday that the president was “vacillating” on a commutation for the music mogul, citing a “high-ranking White House official.” “There is zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news,” the official told NBC News in a statement. “The President, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations.” Casey Carver, a spokesperson for TMZ, said in a brief statement: “We stand by our story.” Lawyers for Combs did not immediately return a request for comment about the disparity between the White House statement and TMZ’s reporting. However, Combs’ lawyers have previously told NBC News they have been pursuing a pardon for their client. Combs was convicted in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but was acquitted on more damning charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. On Oct. 3, a federal judge sentenced him to 50 months in prison, fined him $500,000 and ordered five years of supervised release. He pleaded not guilty and has maintained his innocence. On Aug. 1, Trump was asked about potentially pardoning Combs in an interview with Newsmax. “You know, I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great and seemed like a nice guy. According to our source, the President is “vacillating” on a commutation. We’re told some of the W.H. staff are urging Trump not to commute the sentence. But, our source states the obvious — “Trump will do what he wants,” and we’re told Trump could set Diddy free as early as this week. Diddy is serving a 50-month prison sentence for violating the Mann Act. He’s served 13 months, and with credit, he could get out in around 2 years — but none of that matters if Trump commutes his sentence. As you know, Trump commuted the sentence of former Congressman George Santos last Friday. We know almost immediately after Diddy was sentenced earlier this month, his legal team was in touch with a high-ranking White House official who has the ear of the President regarding a commutation or pardon. Just days later, Trump told the media he was aware of the ask. Diddy fell out of Trump’s graces when he supported Biden in 2020, but Trump did not slam the door shut on showing Diddy mercy. A U.S. marshal and an undocumented immigrant sustained injuries during an immigration enforcement operation in Los Angeles. Federal officers were attempting to arrest an individual whom the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said is in the country illegally when gunfire ensued. “During a targeted enforcement traffic stop in the Los Angeles area, an illegal alien—who had previously escaped from custody—attempted to evade arrest yet again,” DHS said in a statement to Fox News Digital. One of the bullets fired by federal officers ricocheted and hit a law enforcement officer in the hand. The U.S. Marshals’ office in California’s central district said in a statement that the officer who was injured is a deputy with that agency. The Department of Homeland Security said both the immigrant and the officer were taken to the hospital. The officer’s condition was listed as stable, according to the statement. The FBI’s Los Angeles field office said it was investigating the shooting. An evidence response team was processing the scene on East 20th Street, near the city’s Fashion District, the bureau said in a statement. “A Deputy US Marshal sustained non-life threatening injuries during an immigration enforcement operation. The Deputy’s condition is currently listed as stable. The incident is now under investigation,” the Marshals Service said, according to KTLA. According to Fox News, protestors shouted at hospital staffers while the U.S. marshal and suspected illegal immigrant were treated for their injuries. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has called for a congressional investigation into the alleged unlawful detention of U.S. citizens and immigrants by federal agents. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin blamed officials in sanctuary jurisdictions for brazen attacks against immigration authorities in recent months. “These are the consequences of conduct and rhetoric by sanctuary politicians and activists who urge illegal aliens to resist arrest. Resisting arrest puts the safety of illegal aliens, law enforcement, and the public at risk,” she said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Our law enforcement officers are facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults against them including vehicle rammings by illegal aliens. We are once again calling on sanctuary politicians, agitators, and the media to turn the temperature down and stop calling for violence and resistance against ICE law enforcement.” Last week, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors declared a state of emergency because of the raids, saying the federal operations have caused fear and have forced businesses to shut down.

The operation appeared to have taken in vendors who were selling merchandise on the street. The atmosphere was tense, and there was pushing and shoving. Chopper 2 flew over the scene. ICE agents then took the individuals they rounded up to nearby Federal Plaza and were followed by a crowd of onlookers. The NYPD said it was not involved in the federal operation and made no arrests. Raid was focused on counterfeit goods, DHS says The Department of Homeland Security said the raid was focused on cracking down on the sale of counterfeit goods, adding the operation involved agents from ICE and other agencies like the FBI and the ATF. DHS said individuals in the area, who it describes as “rioters,” obstructed the agents and that at least one of them was arrested for assault on a federal officer. “ICE and its federal partners, including FBI, DEA, ATF, IRS-CI and CBP conducted a targeted, intelligence-driven enforcement operation on Canal Street in New York City, focused on criminal activity relating to selling counterfeit goods,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “During this law enforcement operation, rioters who were shouting obscenities, became violent and obstructed law enforcement duties, including blocking vehicles and assaulting law enforcement. Already one rioter has been arrested for assault on a federal officer. We have more details of the criminals arrested as soon they become available.”

A Los Angeles-bound American Airlines flight, operated by SkyWest Airlines, made an emergency landing shortly after take-off due to the pilots fearing someone was attempting to break into the cockpit. American Airlines Flight 6469 abruptly returned to Omaha, Nebraska, minutes after departure. The pilots lost contact with the flight crew and heard banging on the cockpit door. “All of a sudden, we started banking around the city of Omaha.
