Multiple Fatalities After Business Jet Crashes During Takeoff

Seven people died and one survived with serious injuries after a private business jet crashed during takeoff at Maine’s Bangor International Airport. “The Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed around 7:45 p.m.,” CBS News noted. “Aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances on departure, came to rest inverted and caught fire,” the FAA stated. The crash occurred as New England and much of the country grappled with a massive winter storm. Bangor had undergone steady snowfall Sunday along with many other parts of the country. There was no initial word on the plane’s destination. The airport issued a statement that emergency crews were on the scene at the airport, which was closed after what it described as an incident involving a single aircraft departing the airport. It remained closed Monday morning, the Bangor Police Department said. The airport urged people to avoid the area and said the crash led to the cancellation of other flights. “A media briefing was held at 10 a.m. on the second floor of the Domestic Terminal at Bangor International Airport. Airport director Jose Saavedra declined to comment on the condition of those on board. Saavedra did confirm the aircraft is still on the runway as of Monday morning. The airport will not resume operations until noon Wednesday,” Breaking Aviation News & Videos wrote. The FAA has reported that there were seven fatalities in the Challenger 650 crash at Bangor Airport yesterday. One crew member is in a serious condition. The National Guard, local firefighters and first responders from “approximately 10 other municipalities responded to the scene” of the twin-jet Bombardier Challenger 600 going down, according to Saavedra. The temperature was about 2 degrees, with a windchill of minus 13 and light snow around the time of the crash on Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service. Winds were out of the northeast at about 10 mph, data from the service showed. Bangor was under a winter storm warning Sunday. NEWS CENTER Maine provided video coverage:

Tom Homan’s Heading for Minneapolis After the President’s “Very Good Call” with Walz

President Trump is sending Tom Homan to Minnesota. It seems like he is sidelining Secretary Kristi Noem, or that he just believes she needs more help. He said Homan is “tough but fair.” Trump said Homan will report “directly to me” and will help lead the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Minneapolis and […] The post Tom Homan’s Heading for Minneapolis After the President’s “Very Good Call” with Walz appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Seven Dead After Private Jet Crashes During Winter Storm

Seven people are dead, and one is injured after a private jet crashed in Maine on Sunday night. The crash took place at around 7:45 p.m. at Bangor International Airport after the craft attempted to take off during harsh winter conditions. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and federal authorities are expected to arrive on Monday to investigate.  The Associated Press first reported the deaths and noted that the injured person was a crew member.  “At approximately 7:45 p.m. there was an incident involving a single aircraft that was departing from [Bangor International Airport],” the airport announced Sunday. “First responders are still on scene and are expected to be actively working the site for several more hours before any additional information is available.” Fire and rescue crews from the 101st Maine Air National Guard, firefighters from Bangor and nearby cities, and the Bangor Police Department all responded to the scene.  The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) identified the crashed plane as a Bombardier CL 600. The plane ended up upside down and on fire, the Bangor Daily News reported.  The condition of the victims was not known for over 12 hours after the crash. Local officials said it was the responsibility of federal officials to release that information. The NTSB, however, said that local authorities handled updates on passenger conditions.  When asked why it had been ruled safe for departure despite the snow and ice, the spokesman said that other planes were arriving and departing at the same time.  “The snow removal operations were in progress and again, there were planes landing and departing… around that time of day,” the spokesman said.  An airport spokesman said that federal investigators were expected to arrive on Monday. In a different statement, the NTSB said it expected to be on the scene soon.  “A team of NTSB investigators is currently assembling and is expected to arrive on scene shortly. Once on site, the investigator will begin the process of documenting the scene and examining the aircraft. The aircraft will then be recovered to a secure facility for further evaluation,” the NTSB said.  A preliminary report on the crash will be released within 30 days.

Kanye West Apologizes For Antisemitism: ‘I Lost Touch With Reality’

Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, took out a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal to apologize for his past antisemitic outbursts. The 48-year-old rapper blamed the rants on mental health issues caused by a car crash he was in over two decades ago. “I lost touch with reality. Things got worse the longer I ignored the problem,” West wrote of his manic episodes in the advertisement titled “To Those I’ve Hurt.” “I said and did things I deeply regret. Some of the people I love the most, I treated the worst. You endured fear, confusion, humiliation, and the exhaustion of trying to love someone who was, at times, unrecognizable. Looking back, I became detached from my true self.” Over the years, Ye made social media statements and appeared in interviews praising Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler and disparaging Jewish people. He also sold merchandise promoting these antisemitic views and came out with a single, “Heil Hitler,” in May 2025.  One of the most viral examples of this was when Ye appeared on Alex Jones’ “Infowars” podcast in 2022, during which he said, “Every human being has something of value that they bring to the table, especially Hitler.” He said the Nazis, “did good things too,” adding that, “We gotta stop dissing the Nazis all the time.” Prior to that, Ye made several virulent antisemitic statements, including that he wanted to go “death con 3” on “JEWISH PEOPLE,” saying his children could learn “financial engineering” in a Jewish school. He blamed “Jewish Zionists” for his problems, blamed his marriage with Kim Kardashian ending due to “Zionist media handlers surrounding her,” and showed a list of the Jews that he believes control the media. The rapper went on to describe what it was like inside his head during his rants. “You don’t think you’re sick,” he wrote, adding that it feels as though “everyone else is overreacting. You feel like you’re seeing the world more clearly than ever, when in reality you’re losing your grip entirely. Once people label you as ‘crazy,’ you feel as if you cannot contribute anything meaningful to the world.”  He added, “The scariest thing about this disorder is how persuasive it is when it tells you: You don’t need help. It makes you blind, but convinced you have insight. You feel powerful, certain, and unstoppable.” Ye said that during his “fractured state,” he “gravitated toward the most destructive symbol I could find, the swastika, and even sold t-shirts bearing it.” Ye went on to say, “One of the difficult aspects of having bipolar type-1 are the disconnected moments — many of which I still cannot recall — that lead to poor judgment and reckless behavior that oftentimes feels like an out-of-body experience. I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change. It does not excuse what I did, though. I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people.” The rapper later said that “the black community” is “unquestionably the foundation of who I am.” “I am sorry to have let you down,” he wrote in the one-page spread. “I love us.” Ye concluded by thanking his wife, Bianca Censori, for sticking by his side as he hit “rock bottom” several months ago. He also pleaded with fans and the public to be patient during his recovery. The recording artist wrote that he’s found “much-needed clarity” and is putting his “energy into positive, meaningful art: music, clothing, design, and other new ideas to help the world.”  “I’m not asking for sympathy, or a free pass, though I aspire to earn your forgiveness. I write today simply to ask for you patience and understanding as I find my way home,” Ye concluded.

Natalie Portman Pushes Gender Grievance After Oscar Nominations

Actress Natalie Portman raised concerns about the lack of female directors recognized in this year’s Academy Award nominations.  The 44-year-old made the remarks over the weekend while hitting the Sundance Film Festival press circuit, per Variety. Portman wore“ICE OUT” and “Be Good” pins as an apparent statement against fatal interactions between federal immigration agents and protesters in Minneapolis. “So many of the best films I saw this year were made by women,” Portman told the outlet. “You just see the barriers at every level because so many were not recognized at awards time.” The actress went on to cite specific projects she said deserved Oscar nominations this year.  “Between ‘Sorry Baby’ and ‘Left-Handed Girl’ and ‘Hedda’ and ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’…extraordinary films this year that I think a lot of people are enjoying and loving, but are not getting the accolades that they deserve,” she went on. This year, one woman was nominated in the Best Director category: Chloé Zhao, director of the historical drama “Hamnet.” Other nominees in the category include Josh Safdie for “Marty Supreme,” Paul Thomas Anderson for “One Battle After Another,” Joachim Trier for “Sentimental Value,” and Ryan Coogler for “Sinners.”  Portman was at Sundance promoting her film, “The Gallerist,” which was also directed by a woman. The actress also disparaged federal immigration enforcement operations in Minneapolis. “This is such a joyful community celebrating film here and we’re so excited to be showing ‘The Gallerist,’ but we’re also at a moment in our country’s history that is quite devastating,” Portman told Variety.  “It’s really impossible not to talk about what is happening right now and the brutality of ICE and how it has to stop immediately,” she said. “But also, there’s a beautiful community that Americans are showing right now. They’re showing up for each other, protecting each other and fighting for their freedom. It’s a bittersweet moment to celebrate something we’re so proud of on the backdrop of our nation in pain.”
