On 1/24, 37-year-old Minneapolis resident Alex Pretti was fatally shot by U.S. Border Patrol during the ongoing anti-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) protests in the area. Pretti was an “ICU nurse” who “served at a Veterans Affairs facility.” Rock musicians have posted reactions: Tom Morello “So all of it started because they (Border Patrol) decided to push the woman, and when the dude stepped in to stop them from assaulting her, they killed him. Insane.” Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, who retweeted author Zito Madu’s response to footage of the killing. “The more videos I see the more it looks like the god damned Sig (SIG SAUER P320 the official ICE duty pistol) caused the shooting. This escalated WICKED fast and it’s a total shitshow.” All That Remains’ Phil Labonte, when he retweeted a video of Pretti’s altercation with agents. Phil Labonte “This is fucking insane and it all needs to stop.” Journey’s Neal Schon, who also shared a photo of Pretti’s confrontation with a federal agent. “They don’t kill you because you’re a terrorist. Recently, ICE agents have descended on Minneapolis to capture and deport of “worst of the worst” illegal immigrants. But it soon devolved into apprehending non-white persons, including citizens, long-time residents and those legally documented. This has led to numerous community protests. Pretti’s death was the third ICE-related shooting in the city in January. The first resulted in the death of 37-year-old Renee Goode. Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, an undocumented Venezuelan national shot in the leg, was the second.
