Florida thug accused of fatally shooting 2-year-old in head as mother held him in her arms amid argument over a phone

A 21-year-old Florida male is accused of fatally shooting a 2-year-old boy in the head as his mother held him amid an argument with the suspect over a phone, according to an arrest report WJXT-TV obtained.A witness told police that Steven Dodson Jr. and the mother were arguing “about a phone” outside at the Valencia Way Apartments in Jacksonville late Sunday night, the station said, citing the arrest report. Dodson is the mother's boyfriend, WJXT said.'We is hurting, ‘cause that baby didn’t deserve none of that.'The witness told police Dodson followed the mother back inside and “into the same room as the children," the station said, citing the arrest report. The mother told police Dodson locked the bedroom door behind them, got a gun off a shelf in the bedroom closet, and then fired a shot at her as she held her son, 2-year-old A’hmari Robinson, WJXT said. The bullet struck the toddler, who died after being rushed to Wolfson Children’s Hospital, the station said. The arrest report indicates Dodson ran from the apartment and was captured on surveillance video throwing the gun into a dumpster, WJXT said.Authorities including the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Marshals, and the SWAT Unit took Dodson into custody at the Vista Landing Apartments late Monday after a manhunt, the station said.Police told WJXT that before officers arrived someone retrieved the gun from the dumpster and brought it back to the apartment where police took it into evidence.Dodson has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, child neglect, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.Dodson was denied bond Tuesday, the station said.Court records show Dodson has had prior arrests over the last three years on charges including strong-arm robbery, domestic battery, and other offenses, WJXT said. His next court date is set for April 15, the station said.RELATED: Illegal alien twice cut loose from sanctuary county jail now accused of killing a 2-year-old Maryland boy Robinson's family expressed their emotions outside the courtroom, the station said.“Pain. Anger and pain. Pain, hurt,” one family member told WJXT. “And then we already getting fake pages just texting us and threatening. People want to fight my sister. Y’all don’t even know what she’s going through. Y’all don’t know what she went through.”Another family member added to the station: “We is hurting, ‘cause that baby didn’t deserve none of that.”Robinson's aunt started a GoFundMe account to help the family.Like Blaze News? Exclusive: Jim Jordan backs 'America First' veteran in key swing state primary

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio is weighing in on a high-stakes primary in a key swing state, Blaze News has learned. Jordan has endorsed Captain Michael Bouchard, an Iraq war veteran, for Michigan's 10th congressional district, Blaze News can exclusively report. This high-profile endorsement comes as Republican Rep. John James of Michigan wraps up his term in the 10th district and is now running for governor of the state. 'A strong conservative leader.'"Captain Michael Bouchard is the America First conservative we need in Congress," Jordan told Blaze News. "Mike served his country in Iraq, and now he is ready to serve the people of Michigan's 10th district in Washington.""Now, more than ever, we need leaders like Captain Bouchard in Congress."RELATED: 'Warfighter' son of a popular Michigan sheriff is now gunning for Congress Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc/Getty ImagesThe third-generation Michigander embraced the endorsement from Jordan, who made a name for himself chairing the prestigious House Judiciary Committee. "I'm proud to earn the endorsement of Congressman Jim Jordan," Bouchard told Blaze News. "Congressman Jordan is a strong conservative leader that has fought to defend our Constitution and the conservative principles important to Michigan families.""I will bring that same standard to Washington and stand alongside those putting our people first."The crowded Republican primary is currently scheduled for August 4, just a few months before the general election on November 3. Rachel Barber, The Popular Australian Teenager Who Was Murdered By Her Jealous Babysitter

In 1999, Rachel Barber was a teenage dancer on her way to stardom. The 15-year-old was a full-time student at the Dance Factory in Melbourne, Australia. She was beautiful, athletic, and popular — and the Barber family’s babysitter was so jealous of her success that she murdered her. Caroline Reed Robertson was 19 years old, and according to her, Barber was everything that she wasn’t. She once wrote in her journal that Barber was “strikingly attractive” with “very clear pale skin” and “hypnotic green eyes.” Meanwhile, she described herself as a “pizza face” with “brown oily hair and no coordination.” Barber Family/Find A GraveRachel Barber was a teenage dancer and aspiring model before her murder. During her time babysitting for the family, Robertson developed an odd obsession with Barber. On Feb. 28, 1999, she invited Barber to come to her apartment the next day to participate in a psychological study. There, Robertson killed her, and she later buried her on her father’s land. Perhaps most chilling of all, however, was what investigators found in Robertson’s apartment after Barber’s murder: an application for a birth certificate in Barber’s name. Robertson was so obsessed with Barber that she wanted to become her — and she went to ultimate lengths to do so. The Disturbing Murder Of Rachel Barber On the evening of Feb. 28, 1999, Caroline Reed Robertson called Rachel Barber and told her she could make $100 by participating in a psychological study the very next day. She told Barber to come to her apartment after her classes at the Dance Factory, but she warned the 15-year-old that she couldn’t tell anyone about the study or she risked compromising the results. So Barber didn’t tell anyone where she was going after school on March 1st or even that she had spoken with the babysitter. She simply met up with Robertson, rode the tram to her apartment, and enjoyed a slice of pizza, according to Mamamia. Caroline Reed Robertson reportedly murdered Rachel Barber out of jealousy. Robertson told Barber that they would begin the study by meditating and thinking about “happy and pleasant things.” As Barber closed her eyes and relaxed, Robertson wrapped a telephone cord around her neck and strangled her to death. Robertson then shoved Barber’s body into a wardrobe, where it stayed for several days. Later, she wrapped the corpse in two rugs, stuffed it into an army bag, and hired a taxi to help her move a “statue” to her father’s property. There, she buried Barber in the family pet cemetery. Meanwhile, police were frantically searching for Rachel Barber. Her family had reported her missing after she failed to return home from school on March 1st, but since she hadn’t told anyone about her conversation with Robertson, investigators weren’t sure where to start. It wasn’t long, however, before they were able to track down Barber’s killer. How Police Solved Rachel Barber’s Murder In the days after murdering Barber, Caroline Reed Robertson became withdrawn. She went to work on March 2nd, but she appeared so ill that a fellow employee drove her home, according to the Herald Sun. She called out sick from work for the next few days, lying low at home. At the same time, investigators were trying to trace Rachel Barber’s steps on the day of her disappearance. They soon noticed the phone call from Robertson in the Barber family’s phone records. And witnesses who had seen Barber on the tram the night of her death noted that she was with a “plain-looking” woman. Detectives went to Robertson’s apartment on March 12, 1999, and found her unconscious on her bedroom floor. She suffered from epilepsy and had experienced a seizure, likely brought on by the stress of the murder and its aftermath. Barber Family/Find A GraveRachel Barber was just 15 years old when she was murdered by her family’s 19-year-old babysitter. In the apartment, the police also found Robertson’s journal, which was filled with incriminating material. One entry read: “Drug Rachel (toxic over mouth), put body into army bags and disfigure and dump somewhere way out.” Another detailed her plan to cover up the murder: “Check farm (including bag)… Tuesday arrange bank loan… Moving van… Night to disguise hair… Thoroughly clean house, and steam clean carpet.” Alongside the journal were two applications: one for a birth certificate in Rachel Barber’s name and another for a $10,000 bank loan. Investigators believe that Robertson’s intention was to run off and live under Barber’s identity elsewhere. Instead, she admitted to her crimes on March 13th and was taken into custody to await trial for murder. The Trial And Imprisonment Of Caroline Reed Robertson In October 2000, Caroline Reed Robertson was sentenced to 20 years in prison for Rachel Barber’s murder. Judge Frank Vincent noted Robertson’s “abnormal, almost obsessional interest” in Barber and stated, “I find the deliberation and malevolence with which you acted extremely disturbing.” The prosecutor on the case, Jeremy Rapke, cited Robertson’s infatuation with Barber as the motive for the murder. “It does seem likely that the motive is to be found… in the accused’s obsession and her jealousy of [Rachel’s] attractiveness, popularity, and success.” Robertson had never been popular and she struggled with low self-esteem. She reportedly once painted a portrait of herself that was completely black. By trying to “magically reinvent herself” in Barber’s image, as forensic psychiatrist Justin Barry-Walsh put it, Robertson perhaps thought that she could become as successful and beloved as Barber had been. YouTubeAfter killing Rachel Barber, Caroline Reed Robertson called herself an “alien” with “horrible things bottled up inside.” Robertson was diagnosed with a personality disorder after the murder, with Judge Vincent calling her “a real danger to any who may become the unfortunate subject of [her] fixation.” She spent 15 years in prison before she was released on parole in 2015. The killer never expressed remorse for her crimes. In fact, she seemingly spent her time behind bars drastically changing her physical appearance to look more like her victim. The difference was so stark that Barber’s mother noticed it immediately the first time she saw Robertson again. “There’s a Rachel likeness there,” she said. “The eyes.” After learning about the chilling murder of Rachel Barber, go inside the disturbing torture and death of British teenager Suzanne Capper. Then, discover how Christopher Wilder lured women to their deaths with the promise of a modeling contract. How Did Sharon Tate Die? Inside The Brutal Murder Of A Hollywood Star On The Rise

When 26-year-old actress Sharon Tate died at the hands of the Manson Family cult on August 9, 1969, her star was still on the rise. Though she had snagged roles in a number of films, she hadn’t yet had her big break. Her grisly death at eight and a half months pregnant, however, immortalized her as one of the most tragic murder victims in American history. Michael Ochs Archives/Getty ImagesSharon Tate’s death at the hands of the Manson Family shocked America and, some say, marked the end of the 1960s. The day before Sharon Tate’s murder passed like any other. Staying at a rented mansion at 10050 Cielo Drive in Los Angeles, California with friends, Tate laid out by the pool, argued via telephone with her husband, the infamous director Roman Polanski, and went out for dinner. At the end of the night, she and three companions returned to the house. None of them saw the four followers of Charles Manson as they approached the property in the wee hours of August 9, 1969. Instructed by Manson to “totally destroy everyone” in the home, brutally killed everyone inside the house, murdering Sharon Tate, her unborn baby, her friends Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, and a salesman named Steven Parent, who had the bad luck of being on the property that night. Bettmann/Getty ImagesCult leader Charles Manson arrives at the Inyo County Courthouse in the aftermath of the Tate murders on December 3, 1969. Sharon Tate’s death shocked America. The beautiful young actress had been stabbed 16 times and hanged from a ceiling beam in the home and her killers had used her blood to smear the word “PIG” on the front door. This is the story of Sharon Tate’s promising rise in Hollywood, her gruesome death, and the murder trial that captivated the entire nation. Sharon Tate’s Path To Hollywood Stardom Born on January 24, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, Sharon Tate spent her early life on the move. According to The New York Times, her father was in the U.S. Army, so Tate’s family relocated often. They spent time in San Francisco, Washington state, Washington, D.C., and even Verona, Italy. Silver Screen Collection/Getty ImagesSharon Tate dreamt of becoming Hollywood’s next big thing, and for a few short years, she actually was. Along the way, Tate’s beauty started to attract attention. As The New York Times noted after Sharon Tate’s death, the teenager won “a number of beauty contests” and was named homecoming queen and queen of the senior prom at the high school that she attended in Italy. Winning beauty contests was one thing, but Tate seemed to want more. When her family moved back to the United States in 1962, she made a beeline for Los Angeles, California. There, she quickly snagged a seven-year contract with Filmways, Inc. and began getting bit parts in TV shows. Small roles eventually became bigger ones, and Tate was fatefully cast in The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967), directed by Roman Polanski. Tate and Polanski developed a romantic relationship while working together, and married in London on January 20, 1968. Later that year, Tate was pregnant. But even though her career as an actress seemed to be accelerating, Sharon Tate admittedly had mixed feelings about working in Hollywood. Tate’s Tense Final Days Before Her Murder Terry Oneill/Iconic Images/Getty ImagesSharon Tate died eight and a half months into her pregnancy. “All they see is a sexy thing,” Sharon Tate told Look Magazine in 1967. “People are very critical on me. It makes me tense. Even when I lay down, I’m tense. I’ve got an enormous imagination. I imagine all kinds of things. Like that I’m all washed up, I’m finished. I think sometimes that people don’t want me around. I don’t like being alone, though. When I’m alone, my imagination gets all creepy.” She had mixed feelings about her husband, too. By August 1969, shortly before their baby was due, Tate had started to consider leaving him. They’d spent much of the summer in Europe, but Tate had returned to their rented home at 10050 Cielo Drive alone. Polanski had delayed his return so he could scout out movie locations. On the day before Sharon Tate’s death, she called Polanski and argued with him about his absence. If he wasn’t home in 10 days for his birthday party, she said, they were through. The rest of the day passed relatively peacefully, with no sign of the horror to come. Tate complained to her friends about her husband, raved about her soon-to-be-born baby, and took a nap. That evening, she went out to get dinner with aspiring writer Wojciech Frykowski and coffee heiress Abigail Folger, who’d been housesitting, and Tate’s ex-boyfriend, celebrity hairstylist Jay Sebring. By 10 p.m., they were all back at 10050 Cielo Drive. But none of them would survive to see the sunrise. The Horrific Death Of Sharon Tate At The Hands Of The Manson Family Getty ImagesBody bags began littering the front lawn of 10050 Cielo Drive as authorities recovered the bodies of Sharon Tate, Steven Parent, and Wojciech Frykowski. In the early hours of August 9, 1969, Manson Family members Charles “Tex” Watson, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, and Patricia Krenwinkel drove from their group’s makeshift residence at the disused Spahn ranch to the property at 10050 Cielo Drive. They weren’t specifically targeting Sharon Tate, or even her absent husband Roman Polanski. Instead, Charles Manson had told them to attack the house because its former occupant, producer Terry Melcher, had declined to get Manson the record deal he craved. In many ways, Sharon Tate’s death was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Watson later testified that Charles Manson had instructed them to go “to that house where Melcher used to live… [and] totally destroy everyone in [it], as gruesome as you can.” As Linda Kasabian later recalled, Watson cut the telephone wires and shot and killed 18-year-old Steven Parent. The teen had the bad luck of visiting 10050 Cielo Drive that night to sell a clock radio to the property’s caretaker, William Garretson, who was staying in a separate guest house. (Garretson was unharmed during the murders.) Then, the cult members responsible for Sharon Tate’s death entered the main house on the property. First, they encountered Frykowski, who was lying on a sofa in the living room. According to Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders, Frykowski demanded to know who they were, to which Watson ominously responded: “I am the Devil, and I’m here to do the Devil’s business.” Bettmann/Getty ImagesTex Watson (pictured), Susan Atkins, or both, murdered Sharon Tate. Moving silently through the house, the cult members collected Tate, Folger, and Sebring and brought them to the living room. When Sebring protested against their treatment of Tate, Watson shot him, and then tied him, Folger, and Tate to the ceiling by their necks. “You are all going to die,” Watson said. Frykowski and Folger both tried to fight back against their captors. But the Manson Family members stabbed Frykowski 51 times, and Folger 28 times, ultimately killing them. Then, only Sharon Tate was left alive. “Please let me go,” Tate reportedly said. “All I want to do is have my baby.” Bettmann/Getty ImagesManson Family member Susan Atkins confessed that she and Charles “Tex” Watson murdered Sharon Tate. But the cult members showed no mercy. Atkins, Watson, or both, stabbed Tate 16 times as she cried out for her mother. After Sharon Tate’s murder, Atkins, instructed by Manson to do something “witchy,” used Tate’s blood to write “PIG” on the front door of the home. And they left Sharon Tate dead like the others. The Manson murders didn’t end there, however. The next night, the cult members, now joined by Leslie van Houten, Steve “Clem” Grogan, and Manson himself, killed supermarket chain owner Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary (neither of whom was famous or notorious) at their home. The spate of violent and seemingly senseless murders baffled the nation. But the mystery of Sharon Tate’s murder was finally solved when, according to Newsweek, Atkins bragged about killing Sharon Tate while she was locked up for car theft. The Aftermath Of The Tate Murders That Left America In Shock Archive Photos/Getty ImagesSharon Tate’s murder was later described as the moment “the Sixties ended” by writer Joan Didion. In the aftermath of Susan Atkins’ jailhouse confession, Charles Manson and some of his followers were put on trial for murder in 1970. They offered grisly descriptions of how their victims, including Sharon Tate, died at their hands. As for a motive, Manson had allegedly hoped to frame the Black Panthers and other Black organizations for the brutal murder of Sharon Tate and the other victims so that he could start a “race war.” This might explain why Atkins felt compelled to write “PIG” on Tate’s front door. In the end, Manson and his followers were convicted of nine murders, though some believe they were responsible for more killings. Manson (who most likely didn’t actually kill anyone himself), Atkins, Krenwinkel, Watson, and one other cult member were sentenced to death. But their sentences were later commuted to life in prison. Amid the roller coaster trial of Manson and his followers, Sharon Tate’s death became just one part of the larger Manson story. Her hopes of being a star, and dreams of being a mother, were instantly overshadowed by the chaos that Manson and his cult had wreaked across Los Angeles. The Lasting, Tragic Legacy Of Sharon Tate’s Death Bettmann Archive/Getty ImagesCharles Manson grins as he leaves court while standing trial for Sharon Tate’s death. It didn’t help that many big-name media publications had gotten key details wrong in the aftermath of Sharon Tate’s murder. For example, TIME Magazine reported that one of Tate’s breasts was completely sliced off and that there was an X cut on her stomach — neither of which turned out to be true. And according to Women’s Health, journalist Tom O’Neill, who researched the Manson Family murders for 20 years, eventually uncovered evidence of a cover-up of the official story of Sharon Tate’s death, “including police carelessness, legal misconduct, and potential surveillance by intelligence agents.” Even contemporary films about the Manson murders, like Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood (2019), don’t flesh out Sharon Tate’s character as much as her loved ones would like. Her sister, Debra Tate, told Vanity Fair that she felt Sharon Tate’s “visit” in the film was a little short, but that she fully approved of Margot Robbie’s depiction of her sister. “She made me cry because she sounded just like Sharon,” Debra Tate explained. “The tone in her voice was completely Sharon, and it just touched me so much that big tears [started falling]. The front of my shirt was wet. I actually got to see my sister again… nearly 50 years later.” In the end, Sharon Tate’s death is one tragic piece of the Manson story. Just 26 years old when she was murdered, Sharon Tate had unfulfilled dreams of love, fame, and motherhood. But because of the cult leader and his followers, she’ll always be remembered for her horrific demise.
