'Republicans are definitely listening'

As the political landscape shifts, Harris strategically shifted her focus

Vote. Don’t vote. I don’t care. Just stop telling me that Vice President Kamala Harris is going to save democracy. Do I wish Republicans had nominated a more coherent, principled, competent candidate for the presidency? Of course. But if anyone is under the impression Democrats tapped such a person, I have news. Spend some time trying to decipher Harris’ swirling, platitude-ridden, incoherent rhetoric and you will only be further convinced that we live in an idiocracy. Sure, there are many reasons why a movement conservative might feel uncomfortable voting for former President Donald Trump. I get it. I’m not a fan. But there are plenty of completely rational reasons to vote for him, as well. First and foremost, the existence of the contemporary Democratic Party. Liz Cheney, and other Never Trumpers, tell me that the former president poses a uniquely dangerous threat to the Constitution, and thus, I must set aside any policy disagreements with Democrats and put country over politics. No doubt, this kind of self-glorification feels great, but it doesn’t really comport with reality. For one thing, most of the Left’s scariest warnings about Trump are fiction. I don’t believe The Atlantic when it tells me that Trump is a would-be Hitler. I’m sorry, I don’t believe he’s going to throw all his political enemies in concentration camps. Save the story for the next Mueller investigation. Considering recent history, in fact, it’s clear to me that the Left is far more adept and willing to weaponize the state to punish their enemies. And I’m not just talking about the unprecedented lawfare launched at Trump. I’m talking about debarring lawyers. I’m talking about raiding the homes of pro-life activists. I’m talking about the spying on Catholic churches and the Justice Department’s chilling speech by smearing parents who stood up to authoritarian school boards as terrorists. Moreover, even if Trump acted on his worst instincts, the damage would likely be confined to his own presidency. Trump is about Trump. Harris and Democrats, though, have openly embraced a string of consequential, long-term attacks on the constitutional order. Ones that we can never come back from. Sorry, I don’t accept that a woman who once complained to CNN’s Jake Tapper that “millions and millions of people” were speaking “without any level of oversight or regulation, and that has to stop” is going to be my champion of the Constitution. Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, recently argued that there is “no guarantee” for free speech when it came to “misinformation” or “hate speech,” “especially around our democracy.” If this were a properly functioning republic, Walz would be thrown to the curb. No honest person could possibly believe Democrats are better for free expression. Let’s not forget either that Harris once promised to bypass Congress and sign an executive order seizing rifles from millions of law-abiding Americans. Though Democrats like to pretend otherwise, the Second Amendment is still part of the Constitution. Indeed, Harris is in no position to lecture anyone about any governing norms. She frequently praises Biden for ignoring courts and “forgiving” student loans by forcing taxpayers to foot the bill. She supports trashing the legislative filibuster, empowering slim majorities to destroy any semblance of federalism. Harris has backed bills that would have overturned thousands of state laws, allowing national Democrats to strip state election security measures, make abortion legal until crowning, compel local religious hospitals to perform gender transition surgeries, shut down religious foster care organizations, and many other outrages. None of this is to even speak of her efforts to destroy the Supreme Court. Harris, who gleefully took part in the vile smearing of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, supports packing the court—the most serious attack on the judicial branch since President Franklin Roosevelt’s effort in the 1930s. Senate Democrats say it is “virtually certain” they will pass a “Supreme Court reform” bill that, among other assaults on the judicial branch, will empower legislators to strip individual justices of their power. This is all just blatantly authoritarian stuff.   Right now in part, because of Trump—the court is the only institution in the United States that properly functions. There is no telling what kind of arsonist Harris and Democrats would install. At the very least, I know Trump has a track record of not only nominating decent jurists, but sticking with them under massive pressure. It is odd, indeed, that Democrats, who support price controls, state mandates, and a slew of other economic intrusions that force corporations to bend to their will, are constantly warning us about the specter of “fascism.” We have no clue if the Trump presidency plays out. Republicans Are Beatin' Feet to Ballots and Dems Feelin' a Leetle Sickly

Less than two weeks before the 2024 election, legacy media and government leftists are doubling down on their anti-free speech pressure campaign encouraging social media companies to censor. The New York Times published an article Wednesday asserting that a “torrent of falsehoods” is undermining “America’s democracy.” As proof of this supposed “torrent of falsehoods,” the leftist outlet cited multiple Republicans and specifically targeted X owner Elon Musk, who has endorsed Republican Donald Trump and vowed to protect free speech. “Perhaps the single biggest factor in today’s disinformation landscape has been Mr. Musk’s ownership of Twitter,” the Times wailed.  The Times quoted Jen Easterly, the Biden-Harris administration’s director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which was exposed in the Twitter Files and the Murthy v. Missouri lawsuit as pressuring social media to silence free speech. “[Foreign adversaries] do have different tactics and different approaches to influence operations, but their goals are the same,” Jen Easterly told The Times. “Very simply, they’re looking to undermine American trust in our democratic institutions and the election specifically, and to sow partisan discord.” Easterly and other officials, The Times hysterically declared, have warned that artificial intelligence (AI) and social media are driving alleged disinformation online. The Times proceeded to give examples, citing Elon Musk and Republican politicians — including presidential nominee Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance — as spreading this supposedly harmful information online.   The Times scaremongered, “Mr. Musk has not only leaned all in for the Republican nominee, former President Donald J. Trump, but he also used his platform to reanimate discredited claims about the validity of the election’s outcome.” It also whined about Vance and Trump repeating reports of illegal migrants stealing pets. The Times, however, did not mention numerous instances of Big Tech manipulating elections with censorship, including by censoring Covid-19 information and the Hunter Biden scandal before the 2020 election. MRC found that 9.4 percent of Biden voters in swing states would not have voted for him had they known about the latter scandal.  MRC Free Speech America VP Dan Schneidercondemned The Times for its aversion to freedom of speech. “It is beyond comprehension how The New York Times can argue against First Amendment rights for individuals but not see how its attack will not eventually harm its own First Amendment rights,” Schneider said. “The Constitution is for all, not just for a few leftwing coastal elites.”  Schneider continued, “The left has clearly abandoned our Constitution. Each of the six Democrat nominees for President since 2000 used to be an advocate for free speech rights. Each has recently turned against our rights to free speech.”  The New York Times and Easterly are not the only media and government entities calling for censorship. Forbes praised the Supreme Court defeat of Murthy v. Missouri in July as “a start” to combatting “misinformation.” Sen. Mark Warner(D-VA), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) are among the lawmakers who pushed social media to crush online speech. On CNN's Erin Burnett OutFront on Thursday, while discussing the evening's campaign rally for Kamala Harris, New York Times podcaster and CNN contributor Lulu Garcia-Navarro showed worry that former Donald Trump advisor Stephen Miller would return to the White House and push "draconian" deportations of illegal aliens. After CNN reporter Kristen Holmes recalled that Trump has complained about other countries making the U.S. the "garbage can of the world," host Erin Burnett turned to Garcia-Navarro and posed: So, Lulu, right, the context here -- Kristen (Holmes) talking about it now -- when Trump is on the stage talking about "garbage can of the world" when he's referencing the number of migrants who have come into the United States over the past years. Does rhetoric like that, at this point, does it motivate anybody? ... does it move the needle? Garcia-Navarro soon charged that another Trump administration would have a "xenophobic fever dream" as she brought up an article about Miller that just appeared in her paper: ..there was a very important article today in the New York Times where they interviewed Stephen Miller. You might remember him from the first Trump administration who was sort of the architect of many of former President Trump's harshest immigration policies, and he basically detailed what they're planning for a next Trump administration. And, you know, some people have called this sort of a xenophobic fever dream. She further fretted: It is, you know, mass camps, huge deportations of millions of people here illegally in this country who might have strong ties who are not necessarily criminals -- definitely deporting people like the Dreamers, DACA recipients who were brought to this country legally (sic) as children and have been vetted and have been given sort of permission to stay and work -- some of them in the military. Garcia-Navarro twice asserted that a second Trump administration would be "draconian" as she wrapped up: These are very, very dramatic and draconian ideas about what is going to happen in a second Trump administration. And I think those are the things that are, you know, reporting and should be getting scrutiny because if Trump indeed becomes President again, what we saw in the first Trump administration isn't necessarily what's going to happen in the second Trump administration. They've had time to plan, and they have real -- very strong ideas about what should happen next, and it is indeed very, very draconian. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a major ruling affecting absentee ballot laws only 11 days before Election Day. Some states have expanded election regulations in order to allow the counting of ballots received after Election Day as long as they are postmarked by the election date. The ruling ends that practice and forces states to only count absentee ballots received by Election Day. 'This is a seismic win for fair, accurate, secure, and transparent elections.' The lawsuit was filed by the Republican Party of Mississippi, and the order is only binding in the three states in the 5th Circuit: Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. "Federal law requires voters to take timely steps to vote by Election Day. And federal law does not permit the State of Mississippi to extend the period of voting by one day, five days, or 100 days. The State's contrary law is preempted," the ruling read. Democrats feared that the decision would bolster efforts in other jurisdictions to shut down expansive voter laws. However, the decision will not block absentee ballots for the current election since it's so close to Election Day. The ruling sends the case down for other proceedings. Republican National Committee chair Michael Whatley praised the decision on social media."This is a seismic win for fair, accurate, secure, and transparent elections," he wrote. 32 states already demand that ballots be returned by Election Day while another 10 states require them to be postmarked by Election Day and received no longer than 7 days after. We’ve been warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence for decades, and now it’s finally here. Most recently, the state-run media went nuts over an AI-generated image of Donald Trump in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform, but that’s not the kind of “deepfake” that Americans should be concerned about. “Deepfake images, audio and video, are reaching a level of sophistication that far surpasses anything we’ve seen before now,” Glenn Beck of “The Glenn Beck Program” says, reading from his new book, “Propaganda Wars.” This is a massive issue, especially considering that there are more elections happening simultaneously across the globe than ever before in human history. “We’re one of the last,” Glenn says. “So have deepfakes been used in the last year? Yes. Warning, usually in the last day or two because there’s not enough time to combat it. So right before everybody goes in for the final day, something is released on one of the candidates, and it shows them doing something or saying something.” And this has already happened in America. Just last year in Chicago, there was a mayoral race that was extremely contentious between Brandon Johnson and Paul Valas. Right before one of the rounds of primary voting, a deepfake audio of Valas was released in which he was flippantly discussing cops killing people as if it were a good thing. “None of this was true. It was a deepfaked audio; none of it was real, but it circulated widely right before the election, and Brandon Johnson ended up doing a lot better than people thought,” Justin Haskins, co-author of “Propaganda Wars,” tells Glenn. Johnson, who is African-American, then went on to win the race. “Johnson was the anti-establishment, socialist candidate, presented himself to the African-American community as ‘I’m going to represent you,’ and here you had audio of the other candidate saying, ‘I don’t care if black people get killed by cops,’” Haskins says. “There’s no way of actually tracking the specific correlation between this and the outcome of the race; it’s just not possible. But that’s the whole point. It creates all sorts of uncertainty and confusion, and we don’t know how many people were impacted by this. Maybe not enough to swing the election, but maybe it was enough to swing the election,” he adds.
