“I’m Not Proud To Admit This” – Zach Top Skipped An Encore At A Recent Show Because He Wanted To Watch The Mariners Game
I resepct the honesty.
Zach Top is a big baseball fan, but when it comes to one team. The Washington State native grew up playing baseball and watching the Seattle Mariners from a young age. Because of this, the “I Never Lie” singer is a lifelong Mariners fan and, earlier this year, had the honor of throwing the first pitch at a game.
And the Mariners are fans of Top, too.
Home run champ, Cal Raleigh, AKA Big Dumper, uses “Bad Luck” as his walk-up song, and called Zach the “best” in country music when Zach was on hand to throw out the first pitch:

Zach Top is such a die-hard Mariners fan that he admitted during a recent phone interview with 100.7 the Wolf that he didn’t get an encore during a recent show in order to watch the Mariners play.
I mean, that’s tough for the fans at the show that they missed out on a few extra songs, but I have to give props to Top for his dedication as a fan:
“I’m not proud to admit this, but we had a show the other night in Louisville. I walked off the stage, and the crowd was pretty insistent that they wanted an encore. And I did not give them an encore because I was already sprinting back to my green room to watch the rest of the (Mariners) game.”
But it’s not like Zach Top was missing out on the game in full; in fact, he was getting score updates throughout his entire show.
“I had my monitor engineer feeding me score updates in my ears throughout the course of the show.”
Great use of in-ears there.

Zach Top also shared the hilarious story that he and his guitar player, Jimmy, did the nine beers, nine innings challenge during a game, but it was a rain delay game, which turned into a handful of beers and nine beers in nine innings.
“We were sitting down at the TV, had us a beer, and we were ready to lock in at like three in the afternoon. Then it didn’t end up coming on until I think almost six or something. So, of course, in the meantime, while we were, you know, killing time, we had a few beers. Then by the time the game actually kicked off, we were like, ‘Hey, we should probably do the nine beers, nine innings challenge.'”
Radio host Gabe Mercer jokes that it turned into the 19 beers challenge, to which Zach chuckled in agreement:
“Yeah, exactly. No kidding.”
Thank goodness this occurred on an off day and he didn’t have to play a show after that…
The Mariners need to have Zach Top back in the game soon to document his next nine beers, nine innings challenge. Zach Top is a tried-and-true Mariners fan.
