There’s No Love Like the Democrats’ Love of Illegal Alien Criminals

There’s No Love Like the Democrats’ Love of Illegal Alien Criminals

What is the greatest love of all? As Whitney Houston sang, it’s “Learning to love yourself.” To poet Eman Awad, the greatest love is “The feeling i feel but i don’t understand.” “No greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” according to the Gospel of John 15:13. None of these comes close to the love that cannot be measured, even with the finest instruments at NASA or Cal Tech: Democrats’ love for illegal-alien criminals. Break into this country and keep breaking the law, especially violently, and there will be no limit to the love that today’s Democrats will show you. •Consider Milwaukee Judge Hannah C. Dugan. She faces federal obstruction and concealment charges for helping Mexican illegal alien Eduardo Flores-Ruiz escape her courtroom, just as ICE officers closed in. As Paul Simon once sang, Dugan told Flores-Ruiz: “Slip out the back, Jack.” So, he did. But FBI agents nabbed him. So, who is Flores-Ruiz, to whom Dugan expressed so much love? Was he a misunderstood farm worker or a Wisconsin dad trying to help his twin daughters graduate kindergarten? “This criminal illegal alien has a laundry list of violent criminal charges including strangulation and suffocation, battery, and domestic abuse,” said Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin. “Ruiz illegally entered the US twice.”     McLaughlin added: “Since President Trump was inaugurated, activist judges have tried to obstruct President Trump and the American people’s mandate to make America safe and secure our homeland—but this judge’s actions to shield an accused violent criminal illegal alien from justice is shocking and shameful.” Democrats who cannot stop shouting, “No one is above the law!” regard Judge Dugan’s prima facie lawbreaking as no biggie. Predictably, they see this story’s villain as Donald J. Trump.   “On the face of it, this is dangerous and outrageous, and it is designed to intimidate our judiciary,” Rep. Becca Balint, D- Vt., whined about Judge Dugan’s arrest.  “This is a drastic escalation and dangerous new front in Trump’s authoritarian campaign of trying to bully, intimidate, and impeach judges who won’t follow his dictates,” Rep. Jamie Raskin, D- Md., wailed. “This is an unmistakable descent further into authoritarian chaos.” Would Balint, Raskin, and other Dugan Democrats identify a simultaneous escalation and descent into authoritarianism if the Trump administration arrested a GOP-appointed state judge who instructed a pro-life abortion-clinic bomber to rush down the back stairs to escape FBI agents with handcuffs? •Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and U.S. House Democrats Bonnie Watson Coleman, Rob Menendez, and LaMonica McIver (all from the Garden State) tried to breach ICE’s Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey. They wanted to conduct loving “oversight” of the incarceration of multiple MS-13 members and such fine gentlemen as: Mr. Lopez-Reyes (charged in Mexico with child rape), Dominican Maximo Nunez (arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, with intent to kill), and Brazilian fugitive Ramos Marin (wanted there for homicide.) •This love reached honeymoon levels for Kilmar Abrego-Garcia the so-called “Maryland dad” who actually is a Salvadoran illegal alien, gang member, wife beater, human smuggler and designated terrorist. Never mind! Congressional Democrats have flown to El Salvador to hold hands with Abrego-Garcia, who is being held in his native country, after Trump deported him. Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland comforted Abrego-Garcia over margaritas. Attorney General Pam Bondi summarized via X the terrorist-group-association accusations against this “Maryland dad.” The evidence shows Kilmar Abrego-Garcia has repeatedly been identified as a member of MS-13 by:     A Maryland county police gang unit      A reliable confidential informant      ICE officers      An immigration judge agreed      An appellate board agreed A recently released police video shows Tennessee State Troopers stopping Abrego-Garcia in 2022 as he transported eight illegal aliens from Texas to Maryland. Oddly, none had luggage. Abrego-Garcia drove a vehicle owned by illegal alien Jose Ramon Hernandez Reyes, a convicted and deported human smuggler. Abrego-Garcia’s wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, surely wishes that he loved her as much as Democrats love him. “I have pictures of the evidence, like all the bruises, because even on Wednesday, he hit me like, around like 3:00 in the morning,” Vasquez Sura told investigators. “He would just wake up and like, hit me. And then last Saturday, for my daughter’s birthday party, before I went to my daughter’s birthday party, he slapped me three times. And then last week, I did call the police. My sister called the police because he hit me in front of my sister.” The Democrats who, until recently, called themselves “The Party of Women” now romantically obsess over a domestically abusive husband. Each of us should be fortunate enough to savor love even one-tenth as pure, intense, and burning as the Democratic Party’s infinite love for the smugglers, robbers, wife-beaters, rapists, and murderers who break into this country and accelerate their criminal careers. “We publish a variety of perspectives. Nothing written here is to be construed as representing the views of The Daily Signal.” The post There’s No Love Like the Democrats’ Love of Illegal Alien Criminals appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Obama-Appointed Judge Blocks Trump’s Bid to Revamp Institute of Peace

A federal district court judge has blocked President Donald Trump’s efforts to reform the U.S. Institute of Peace by firing personnel and changing the agency’s management.  In a ruling in a case brought by former Institute of Peace board members fired by the Trump administration, Beryl Howell, a senior judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, rejected the Trump administration’s authority over the agency. gov.uscourts.dcd.278529.40.0_2Download The judge, appointed by President Barack Obama, wrote that the administration had ignored “the broader statutory goals set out for this organization [USIP] to fulfill,” and had “removed the Institute’s leadership, including plaintiff Board members and its president in contravention of statutory limitations.” Early in his second administration, Trump had sought to reform the agency. That involved replacing the president of the institute with a Department of Government Efficiency employee, terminating most of the agency’s staff, and transferring ownership of the institute’s property to the General Services Administration.  Howell concluded that the Trump administration’s actions were illegitimate and therefore “null and void.” Reacting to the judge’s decision, Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., told The Daily Signal, “President Trump was elected to root out waste, fraud, and abuse. He’s doing exactly that—but activist judges are blocking him at every turn,”  “Congress can—and must—fire these judges who think it’s acceptable for American taxpayer dollars to fund corruption like this,” Ogles added. The judge’s decision is another roadblock to the Trump administration’s efforts to curb the federal bureaucracy in Washington by making it both more efficient and accountable to the priorities of the chief executive, whom the American people elected in November. The Trump administration has also been locked in a dispute with U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg over its ability to initiate deportations against illegal aliens.  The Trump administration had argued in the case before Howell that the Institute of Peace should be categorized as an “executive branch component of the nation’s federal government exercising executive power through executive functions,” whereas the opposing counsel argued the institute is a “free-standing nonprofit.” Howell concluded in her ruling that the agency should not be considered a “part of the executive branch.” Ogles pointed to information alleged in a post by DOGE as justification for the president’s reforms.  “Before DOGE, the U.S. Institute for Peace gave $132,000 to Mohammad Qasem Halimi, an ex-Taliban official, and over $2.2 million to its outside accountant, who then tried to delete more than a terabyte of financial records. All while burning hundreds of thousands on private jets,” Ogles told The Daily Signal.  The president’s actions with the institute mirror what he did with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced in March that 83% of the agency’s programs would be canceled. Rubio has been acting head of the agency since February. The Trump administration has 30 days to appeal Howell’s rule. The post Obama-Appointed Judge Blocks Trump’s Bid to Revamp Institute of Peace appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Why This Republican Lawmaker Is a ‘No’ for Now on ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’

Why This Republican Lawmaker Is a ‘No’ for Now on ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’

Texas Republican Rep. Keith Self would vote against his party’s budget reconciliation bill as it currently stands. “I am a ‘no’ at the moment,” he told The Daily Signal. Months in the making, the bill would extend President Donald Trump’s first-term 2017 tax cuts and fulfill campaign promises, such as fully funding border security.  But why do Self and other fiscal hawks say they would vote down the bill as it stands today? For him, the bill falls short of earlier promises of restoring fiscal balance.  “The big picture was the framework that we had, which basically was $4.5 trillion in tax cuts. Assuming $2.5 trillion in growth from the tax cuts, which means we needed to find $2 trillion in spending cuts,” he said of his original hopes for the bill. While I support passing President Trump’s agenda in the One, Big Beautiful Bill, Congress has more work to do. I remain a NO.?-The GOP does not want to be saddled with endorsing and owning Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion. -Medicaid expansion in which states receive 7X more…— Rep. Keith Self (@RepKeithSelf) May 19, 2025 Now, Self says, current plans would give them “probably less than $1.5 trillion savings” and that tax cuts are down to $3.8 trillion—a situation which he feels dishonors previous promises. Self is one of a handful of members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus saying they won’t back the bill unless substantial changes are made to increase savings.  And leadership won’t be able to ignore him and his fellow fiscal hard-liners, because of the razor-thin GOP majority in the House. Republicans can only lose three votes and still be able to pass the bill. On Friday, the entire bill was stalled by five Republicans on the Budget Committee alone. He is now demanding two major changes in the bill—curtailing the growth of Medicaid and ending Biden-era green energy subsidies. Self would like to see the government lower its matching of state payments to Medicaid expansion enrollees, a policy he contends would hold the program to its original purpose. Rep. Keith Self, R-Texas (left) confers with House Freedom Caucus Chairman Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md. (Andrew Harnik/Getty Images) “Medicaid is meant for pregnant women, children, seniors, and disabled … . During COVID, we allowed both illegals and able-bodied adults to get on Medicaid. So … the federal government reimburses $9 for every [state-paid] dollar for able-bodied adults. For pregnant women, children, disabled, and seniors, it’s $1.33.” Self is also dissatisfied with the fact that many of the bill’s new work requirements—which on paper are said to save billions—wouldn’t go into effect until 2029.  He said that postponement means that the reforms won’t end up happening at all. “If you have the reforms start in 2029 or even further out, they’re not going to happen. Because again, that’s fantasyland in Washington, D.C.,” he said. Additionally, the Texas lawmaker is disappointed in how the bill continues many of the green-energy subsidies that were written into law by former President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. “Look, President Trump campaigned on it. I campaigned on it. A lot of the Republicans campaigned on repealing the [Inflation Reduction Act],” he said. Self said some of his colleagues are “saying that you can’t cut if off immediately. You have to phase it down, because they say they have projects that have been planned.” But Self, from an oil-rich state, views the continuation of those provisions as a detriment to his state. “Texas, my own state, has hurt our grid by having so much wind and solar now … . What we are subsidizing is not dispatchable power because—lo and behold—when it gets dark, you don’t get solar power.” He’s far from alone in those criticisms. On Friday, five Republican fiscal hawks voted against advancing the budget through the House Budget Committee on almost exactly the same grounds. Reconvening Sunday, four of the conservatives switched their votes to ‘present’ after negotiations with leadership, allowing it to advance. “I wasn’t there, but what I understand from the morning’s conversation amongst everybody is that enough progress was made that they’re willing to vote ‘present,’ but they are not willing to vote ‘yes’ yet,” Self told The Daily Signal. “And there are some of us that are not, because we haven’t answered some of these Medicaid reform issues and the [Inflation Reducation Act] issue,” he continued. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, was among the House Budget Committee members who flipped his vote after talks with the House Republican leadership. (Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call via Getty Images) There’s another issue that could throw a wrench into the Republicans’ machine—state and local tax deductions (SALT). Raising the cap on the ability to deduct local taxes from federal taxes is an important matter for Republicans who represent wealthy constituents in blue states. Four New York Republicans are demanding an increase in the SALT deduction cap as a nonnegotiable item. Leadership has already offered them an increase to $30,000 from the previous $10,000 cap—an offer they have rejected in favor of a $62,000 cap for individual filers. Representatives like Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., point out that Republicans would not have a majority without seats in high-tax blue states, so winning over SALT advocates’ votes is indispensable. “Frankly, we’ve not heard a word about SALT,” said Self. “That’s kind of gone quiet. So, what’s happening with SALT? We don’t know.” The Texas lawmaker doesn’t think $30,000 is a realistic compromise. “$30,000 is about $250 billion [in lost revenue],” he said.  “The 62K cap they wanted is $788 billion. Yeah, [$62,000] per person, [$124,000] for a married couple would be almost $800 billion in cost,” he said. “I don’t think it’s doable.” Yet amid the complicated tangle of competing interests, Self suggested he remains optimistic about a more fiscally conservative bill. Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., is among the Republicans pushing for a higher SALT cap, a proposal one Texas Republican lawmaker doubts is “doable.” (Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call via Getty Images) “I think that we are starting to see people understand just how important spending cuts are. That’s headway,” he said.  Self also urged Republicans not to be afraid of bad press when restructuring Medicaid. Radical reforms to the program might be difficult with tight majorities in both House of Congress. Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., and Sen. Josh Hawley R-Mo. have already cautioned against major spending cuts in this area. “Look, we’re getting lots of negative press over the little bit that we’re trying to do with Medicaid,” he said. “So, why don’t we just do what we need to do with Medicaid, because the Democrats are going to scream and throw a hissy fit anyway, regardless of what we do?” The post Why This Republican Lawmaker Is a ‘No’ for Now on ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ appeared first on The Daily Signal.

'Self-deport' flights begin as some illegal migrants take advantage of Trump's tempting offer: Report

Dozens of illegal aliens made their way home on Monday as part of a new push by the Trump administration to have migrants illegally in the country show themselves out, Axios reports.Citing an unnamed Department of Homeland Security official, Axios claimed that the first so-called "self-deportation" flight took off from Houston around 9:30 a.m. The plane reportedly carried 65 illegal aliens from Colombia and Honduras and took the individuals to their respective countries of origin.'If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest, and most cost-effective way to leave the United States.'Those on the flight apparently took advantage of an offer from the Trump administration known as "Project Homecoming." In exchange for electing to "self-deport" through the CBP Home app, they each received a free ticket home plus $1,000 upon their arrival, Axios said.DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has urged all immigrants in the U.S. illegally to participate in the program. "If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest, and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest," Noem said in a statement on May 5.Those who voluntarily step forward on the app and make "meaningful strides in completing" their departure may have the opportunity to return to the U.S. someday. They will also avoid arrest and perhaps lengthy pre-deportation detention.RELATED: Trump’s self-deportation plan: Genius or waste of money? Casey Means for surgeon general — and why we MUST support her

President Donald Trump’s nomination of Dr. Casey Means for surgeon general has divided those within the Make America Healthy Again movement, and Liz Wheeler of “The Liz Wheeler Show” knows exactly where she stands. “I support her very strongly, not because I agree with her on every single health-related conclusion that she draws,” Wheeler says. “But that’s OK, because I can’t think of a single doctor or person in the MAHA movement or political activist or politician that I agree with 100%. That just doesn’t exist.” “So when I’m analyzing these picks, I say, ‘Does this person get it?’ And because I’m not looking for identical ideological conformity, I ask, ‘Is this person a net positive to the MAHA movement? Are they more right than they are wrong? And when I look at these different people through those two lenses,” she continues, “that tells me whether someone is going to be effective in this position.” “And so, applying this framework to Casey Means, the answer to me seems very obvious. The answer to me is, ‘Casey Means gets it,’” she adds. And Means made that clear in a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, where she made it clear that lifestyle, processed food, and environmental toxins are a massive part of the skyrocketing disease epidemic. “Casey Means is not only very passionate but very knowledgeable about ridding the United States and our families, our neighborhoods, our food, of these very pesticides,” Wheeler says. However, Means has come under fire for her medical credentials — or lack thereof — but Wheeler doesn’t see a problem with it. “I don’t care whether she has an active medical license,” Wheeler says. “Some of the best health care practitioners don’t have medical licenses, because to have a medical license doesn’t mean that you have a monopoly on health-related knowledge. It means that you’ve been given a pat on the head by medical schools, which are funded by and bought off by Big Pharma.” Want more from Liz Wheeler? To enjoy more of Liz’s based commentary, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

Pope Leo XIV: The right leader for a church in crisis

American Catholics didn't want an American pope. The idea was off the table because everyone told them it was unrealistic. How could the world's cardinals go into the conclave and give the world a pope from the world's only superpower? Although the media have hyped Pope Leo as a Francis protégé, expect the American pope to operate differently. Impossible. But God has a way of making the impossible a reality. The choice of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the new leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics almost echoes what Donald Trump said in his recent inaugural address. "In America, the impossible is what we do best." For Pope Leo XIV, however, the real work is just beginning. He was officially inaugurated yesterday, on Pope St. John Paul's 105th birthday. Now the first American-born pope must begin mending the Vatican's strained relationship with the United States, which was left in tatters by his predecessor, Pope Francis. Francis, who died on April 21 after a lengthy illness, visited the United States only once. During his 12-year pontificate, his disdain for the home of the free was palpable. The late pope became a worldwide media darling in 2013 after taking a soft stance on homosexual behavior. “If a person is gay and seeks God and has goodwill, who am I to judge him?” Francis also drew the ire of American Catholics in 2021 when he imposed restrictions on the Traditional Latin Mass, which sharply contrasted with Pope Benedict XVI, who had loosened restrictions during his pontificate. Many were perplexed because the TLM attracted young Catholics and represented a growing segment of the church worldwide. Francis regularly waded into American politics. In 2016, he challenged President Donald Trump’s policy of securing the U.S.-Mexico border by celebrating Mass in the border city of Ciudad Juárez. Hours later, aboard the papal plane, he denounced Trump personally. “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” he said. The irony, which most of us caught, was that he was returning to Vatican City, which has 40-foot walls. The pope stepped up his criticism earlier this year in a letter to American bishops, knocking Trump’s treatment of migrants and claiming that deportations violate the “dignity of many men and women, and of entire families.” Before last week’s conclave, the new pontiff criticized the Trump administration’s immigration policy. His final X post before being elected was a retweet of a message from Philadelphia-based Catholic commentator Rocco Palmo, who on April 14 blasted Trump’s agreement with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele regarding the deportation of illegal migrants. “As Trump & Bukele use Oval to [laugh emoji] Feds’ illicit deportation of a US resident… once an undoc-ed Salvadorean himself, now-DC [auxiliary bishop] Evelio [Menjivar] asks, ‘Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscience not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?’” the post reads. The Pope’s old X account @drprevost has been deleted. However, once the honeymoon period is over, Catholics should expect the new Holy Father to wade into politics as Francis did. I suspect Pope Leo will be far more diplomatic and nuanced than his predecessor in the political arena. Pope Leo must also mend fences with American Catholics who prefer the Traditional Latin Mass. Under Pope Benedict XVI’s pontificate, TLM attendance boomed, particularly among young Catholics. The German pontiff loosened restrictions on the old form of liturgy, only to see Francis restrict its practice. Pope Leo XIV buoyed the hopes of Latin Mass adherents last week when he began his Sunday Angelus message by singing the “Regina Caeli” (Queen of Heaven) in Latin. The new pope has expressed support for the Traditional Latin Mass, emphasizing the importance of maintaining sacred rituals and the Church's rich heritage. His leadership is seen as a continuation of efforts to balance modernity with traditional practices in Catholic worship. While rebuilding the Holy See’s relationship with the United States must be a top priority for Leo, he has bigger fish to fry. The pope has inherited a financial mess, including a pension time bomb that is worse than expected. The Vatican has faced significant budget deficits for decades. The recent budget shortfall of $94.22 million and ongoing financial scandals persist despite Francis’s reform efforts. The 69-year-old Chicago native will also need to grapple with the ongoing homosexual influence within the Vatican and in the American Church, as well as the decline of Catholicism in Europe, and heal worldwide divisions in the wake of Francis’ 12-year pontificate. Although the media have hyped Pope Leo as a Francis protégé, expect the American pope to operate differently. His decades of service in Latin America, leadership in the Augustinian order, and two years at the Vatican have given him the credibility to implement the reforms the Church has desperately needed for the past two decades. The challenges facing the new pope may seem impossible, but then again, so was his election.
