Taylor Swift Hides Business Cheating Behind Feminist Sloganeering

There is a new documentary called “Taylor Swift Vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood” which covers the infamous feud between Taylor Swift and super-manager Scooter Braun. Braun owns Ithaca Holdings, the company that bought the record label Taylor Swift first signed with, including her albums. The documentary spans events from June of 2019, when Braun’s company acquired Big Machine Label Group, the record label Swift was signed to for the first 13 years of her career. That acquisition included the rights to her first six albums, from her self-titled debut to “Reputation,” which was released in 2017. The documentary is divided into two episodes. Episode one is Swift’s version, which is just her being obnoxious. It is Swift and all of her friends and allies suggesting that she is a victimized feminist, that she’s fighting “The Man,” and “Oh, my goodness, how everyone is so mean to Taylor Swift — and Scooter Braun is mean, mean man — he’s super mean.” She’s much more famous and rich because of his involvement, but she’s the victim. You often see this in celebrity culture: people who are not victims, who make lots of money from particular companies and then claim victimhood. It’s not rare to see Taylor Swift do this sort of thing. And here she is, again, doing that sort of thing. That’s episode one. Then, in episode two, Scooter Braun shares his side of the story. That’s the side where they explain what happened legally in fairly meticulous detail. It’s the side where everyone recognizes he bought a company and, along with that company, he bought her records and then she complained about it. A lot. As you might guess, HBO finishes by saying, ”Who can tell? Who knows?” Then the documentary points out that Swift is a very important cultural and musical figure. Who cares? That’s not the issue. Will she be an important cultural figure in 20 years? I doubt it. In 100 years? No. But that’s irrelevant to the question at play here. The question is whether she’s kind of a bad person, because it turns out that people who routinely violate their contracts and then claim victimhood are not nice people. And that’s Taylor Swift. She’s used her platform in order to attack Scooter Braun over and over and over. WATCH: The Ben Shapiro Show For example, she used her platform at awards acceptance speeches to criticize Big Machine and Scooter Braun. At her Grammy acceptance speech, she announced her “Tortured Poets Department” album. As I said after listening to that album, my only question about the “Tortured Poets Department” is where do they torture the poets and how do I join? In any case, the documentary shows her being manipulative and weaponizing her fans to attack Scooter Braun, and she won’t call them off even after Braun releases the threats on his family’s life. And of course, she has lots of feuds with lots of other people because she’s not a particularly nice person. So here’s the thing. The general public doesn’t tend to understand business deals. They don’t tend to understand legal issues. This is why you hire a lawyer, because if you’re not a lawyer, you don’t understand how legal things work, you don’t understand what provisions do. You sign contracts with provisions in case something bad happens. And then, when the bad thing happens, the contract governs. But for the general public — oh, my goodness, a bad thing happened. Now they think they have to figure out who’s right and who’s wrong. No, they don’t. That was the purpose of the contract in the first place. As it turns out, Taylor Swift’s actions — lying to her fans, lying to the public, rerecording all the old songs and releasing them — it all gets papered over with this “I’m a Feminist Icon” nonsense, which is a great “Get-out-of-Jail Free” card for being a cheat in business. That’s Taylor Swift’s shtick. And don’t worry, she’ll continue the shtick as long as people are willing to humor her nonsense. It’s a lucrative business, pretending to be a 16-year-old victimized feminist while making billions of dollars by violating your contracts.

10 Celebrities Who Were Adopted Or Spent Time In Foster Care

From your favorite Oscar-winning stars on the big screen to famed singers and even an Olympic gold medalist, many celebrities and stars were adopted or spent time in foster care at one point in their lives. As Angel Studios and The Daily Wire look forward to the upcoming inspirational movie “Sound of Hope” — which tells the true story of how 77 children found homes after being adopted out of the foster care system in East Texas by 22 families — we found 10 celebrities who were adopted or spent time in foster care as young children. DailyWire+ and Angel Studios announced earlier this month that they have entered into a partnership to release Peacetree Productions’ profoundly moving film “Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot.” The film will be released in theaters on July 4th weekend. GET SHOWTIMES HERE FOR ‘SOUND OF HOPE’ Nicole Richie The list starts with reality TV star Nicole Richie, who at the age of 9, found a home thanks to singer Lionel Ritchie and his first wife, Brenda Harvey, according to Marie Claire. Speaking to People magazine in 2022, the famous singer called Nicole a “Godsend” for their family. “She was a little girl who needed a shot,” Richie said. “She was used to people coming and going. She looked at me, and I’d say, ‘I’m not going anywhere.'” Faith Hill Country singer Faith Hill has been burning up the charts now for decades, but who knows what her life would’ve been like if she hadn’t been adopted as an infant. When the country star got older, Hill said she searched for her biological parents, though she called her adoptive ones “incredible,” Esquire reported. “The first time I met [my birth mother], I just stared at her,” Hill said. “I’d never seen anyone that looked anything like me. It was the awe of seeing someone you came from. It fills something.” Sarah McLachlan Another singer who was adopted is soulful Canadian singer and songwriter Sarah McLachlan, Business Insider noted. The singer was adopted, along with two other kids, by Jack and Dorice McLachlan. She was 9 years old when she learned about the adoption.  Speaking to Parents magazine in 2005, McLachlan said, “When I think about my mother who raised me, you know, she’s my mother,” Business Insider reported.  Marilyn Monroe The late Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe spent time in foster care living in foster care homes until the age of 7 when her mom’s best friend, Grace McKee, became her legal guardian, Esquire magazine noted. However, things were not smooth for her right away and the young star bounced between orphanages and McKee’s home until the age of 11, according to Business Insider. At one point, she also ended up moving in with her great-aunt Olive, before she got married at the age of 16 to neighbor James Dougherty. Jamie Foxx Comedian and actor Jamie Foxx was adopted when he was just seven months old by his own mother’s adoptive parents, Estelle and Mark Tally, after Foxx’s parents separated, according to People.  In his 2021 memoir “Act Like You Got Some Sense,” Foxx opened up about his childhood and wrote that his grandparents adopted him because his mom “was not ready for the responsibility of parenting.” He also talked about being raised in Texas by his strict but loving grandmother and said, “She was an educator for 30 years, a very smart woman, raised our city.” Melissa Gilbert To most people, Melissa Gilbert is the famed star who got her start on “Little House on the Prairie.” But before she graced the small screen, Gilbert was a baby without a home. At one day old, the actress was adopted by a “well-known Hollywood family,” the “Today” show noted. In the 1990s, she began a search for her biological parents after she gave birth to her son. She soon learned that her mom had passed away, but found her dad.  In 2010, Gilbert wrote “Prairie Tale: A Memoir” and opened up about being adopted and eventually learning the crazy story of who her birth parents were and why they couldn’t raise her. Simone Biles Before Simone Biles became a household name after winning numerous Olympic gold medals, she was placed in foster care as a child when her mom couldn’t take care of her and her three siblings, the “Today” show noted. She was eventually adopted by her grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles. In a letter to CNN in 2018, Biles discussed how she wouldn’t be where she is today if she hadn’t been adopted. “My road to success began the day my grandfather and his wife officially adopted my sister and me,” Biles wrote. “My birth mother suffered from drug addiction, and when I was just three years old, my siblings and I were removed from her custody.  “From there, we bounced around until I was six and my grandparents made the brave move to adopt us,” she added. “Finding a family made me feel like I mattered. Finding a passion, something I loved and was really good at, made me feel like I mattered.” Eddie Murphy  Famous actor and comedian Eddie Murphy might not know what it’s like to be adopted, but he did spend his childhood growing up in the foster care system, something he now credits with helping him hone his comedic skills. At the age of 3, Murphy’s parents divorced and five years later his mom was struggling financially to raise him and his dad had died. His mom ended up in the hospital for a lengthy period with an illness during which the actor and his brother were taken into the foster care system, where they spent the next year. The comedian previously talked about his experience in foster care and credited it with helping him become the talent he is today, admitting that it gave him the ability to laugh in any situation. Cher Hollywood star Cher — born Cherilyn Sarkisian — knows what it’s like to be adopted. When she was just 10 months old her parents divorced. Her mother later married bank manager Gilbert LaPiere, who would adopt Cher and her half-sister Georganne. The 77-year-old singer is currently dating 38-year-old Alexander “AE” Edwards and the two have reportedly talked about having a family through adoption.  “She’s telling AE it’s her dream in life to have another baby,” a source recently told InTouch Weekly. “She missed the boat on freezing eggs and hiring a surrogate but adoption is something she very much would like to do.” Ray Liotta Before Liotta made it big in Hollywood as our favorite bad guy in gangster movies like “Goodfellas” he went through his own personal drama about being adopted. The late star was adopted by Mary and Alfred Liotta when he was just six months old. Liotta struggled during his lifetime about being adopted and wondering why his parents gave him up. But before his death in 2022, he talked about how grateful he was for the parents who adopted him and how he’d come to peace with the ones who let him go, People magazine reported. “After years, you grow up, and you just see the pattern of things,” Liotta said. I’ve definitely developed more patience. Now I’m grateful for my health. And being born. For my parents that adopted me. I mean, it could have gone a lot of different ways.”

‘Most Powerful Politician In Chicago’ Gets Light Sentence For Corruption

A Democratic politician whom the Chicago Tribune regarded as “arguably the most powerful politician in Chicago for decades” was convicted of corruption but got a light sentence from the judge. On Monday, U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendall sentenced former Chicago Alderman Edward Burke to two years in federal prison, roughly one-fifth of what prosecutors recommended and far less than the 6.5 years recommended by federal guidelines. He was also fined $2 million. Burke, who is reputedly worth $30 million, was convicted on 13 of 14 counts of racketeering, bribery and attempted extortion. “Prosecutors argued the actual cost of the crimes Burke was convicted of was $829,525,” WTTW reported. Burke, who is 80 years old,  “surely won’t be incarcerated for close to the two years he got Monday for getting caught red-handed shaking down businesses needing city permits and approvals,” the Chicago Tribune editorial board opined. “Clearly, these were not a one-time lapse in judgment,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Streicker said regarding the incidents in which Burke acted corruptly. “They were the exact opposite. … He operated as a seasoned professional.” “The $2 million fine was, on one level, a big bill for Burke to have to pay but also very disturbing to us,” The Tribune stated, pointing out Burke could well afford it. “… it left the impression of a powerful man being permitted to purchase years of freedom, simply because he had sufficient resources to do so.” Prior to the sentencing, prosecutors accused Burke of abusing his power “again and again and again and again over a period of years, working in his own best interest instead of the public’s. … His conduct hurt not only the specific victims in his case, but all residents of the city of Chicago who have a right to honest government. … That trust will not easily be repaired.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “Corruption in the Chicago City Council tears at the fabric of a vital body of local government,” Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Morris Pasqual stated after the sentence. “When an alderman fails to discharge his duties with honesty and integrity, he betrays not only the citizens of Chicago, but his fellow public officials who do their jobs the right way. Our office will continue to vigorously prosecute corruption and hold public officials accountable for violating the public trust.”

Hundreds Of Coffee Brands Recalled Nationwide Over Fatal Food Poisoning — Check Yours

Food poisoning is no joke, especially when it’s botulism. That’s why Snapchill LLC, a Wisconsin-based company, is taking precautions to ensure that their canned coffees are safe. In order to do that, however, they’re having to recall nearly 300 types of canned coffee that are sold under various brands. The company first became aware of potential issues thanks to the FDA — they notified Snapchill that their process for manufacturing was not filed with them, leading to the discovery. As of this moment, there have not been any reports of illness due to these products. Rather, the recall alert notes that the manufacturing process “could lead to the growth and production of the deadly toxin, botulinum toxin, in low acid canned foods.” These products, some of which can be viewed in the image below, were distributed nationwide at a variety of coffee roasters and retail locations. They were also available for purchase directly from Snapchill. FDA “The products are identifiable by the language ]Produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC’ underneath the nutrition facts panel,” the recall alert reads. “Some of the products can also be identified by the text ‘Snapchill Coffee’ on the label.'” There’s a Nationwide Coffee Recall on Multiple Brands — Here’s the Full List For a complete list of the coffee products included in this large recall, take a look at this list that was shared by the FDA. If you have any of these products, you have a few options when it comes to what to do next. First, you could destroy the product. In addition, it can be returned to Snapchill or the place of purchase. FDA Meanwhile, if there’s a chance you have already consumed one of these recalled products, it’s important to be aware of the symptoms of botulism. Although rare, it can be deadly. With this in mind, symptoms can start six hours to two weeks after consuming the dangerous product and can include: General weakness Diziness Double vision Trouble speaking or swallowing Difficulty breathing Weakness of other muscles Abdominal distension Constipation If you experience these symptoms, the CDC says it’s important to seek medical attention. Stay safe everyone! You can find the source of this story’s featured image here.
