Bush.” The idea wasn’t that any opposition to Bush or his policies was deranged‚ but rather that Bush hatred was causing some of the president’s critics to indulge in preposterous claims‚ such as asserting that he’d known the 9/11 attacks were coming. Trump Derangement Syndrome is similar but more intense and widespread. I’m 44. I remember extreme hatred of numerous politicians‚ including Bill Clinton‚ Bush‚ and Barack Obama. But nothing comes close to the reaction to Trump’s presidency. Many Americans hold as an article of faith that Trump is a tool of Russia and a fascistic danger to democracy who ought to be thrown off the ballot in all 50 states and imprisoned for life. They believe‚ therefore‚ that pretty much anything critics do to oppose him can be excused as a righteous means to a vital end. Friedersdorf was off to a good start until he came up with his solution to TDS... Stop Trump because he caused the derangement. Good leaders don’t derange a huge faction of the country they are leading. Good leaders bring out the best in the people. More than anyone‚ Trump brings out the worst in Americans. That’s the strongest argument against Trump. It isn’t about his policy agenda‚ or his character‚ or the legal charges against him‚ or his failure to make America great again from 2016 to 2020‚ an era of COVID lockdowns‚ peak cancel culture‚ spiking murders‚ and riots. It isn’t about him. It’s about us. So because Trump makes some people go bonkers‚ such as Stephen Colbert who recently dropped all pretense at comedy and went full Trump rage‚ he must be stopped? One might think that journalists would be the calmest customers in trying times...but the anti-Trump audience demands a full-throated freakout on a regular basis.

A beautician was sentenced to 4 to 8 years in prison for killing a woman from an unlicensed silicone butt injection in the Bronx borough of New York City. 49-year-old Whalesca Castillo pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter over the death of 43-year-old Lesbia Ayala from Philadelphia. Castillo had given Ayala the butt injection in June 2017 at an apartment‚ but she was unlicensed and is not a medical professional. Ayala collapsed after the injection after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was declared dead after being transported to a hospital. “The defendant illegally injected the victim with a silicone substance for cosmetic purposes‚” read a statement from Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark. “Tragically‚ the injections killed the victim‚" Clark said. "The defendant also performed a dangerous cosmetic procedure that left another woman with substantial pain.” Investigators said the woman charged about $1‚500 for the unlicensed injections‚ far less than the usual price by licensed practitioners. "I'm very ashamed about what happened‚ I am so sorry‚" said Castillo in court.Prosecutors documented numerous times that Castillo had been caught previously to the manslaughter charge. A former Nebraska prison guard convicted of sexual assault of an inmate imprisoned for murder and having his baby avoided jail time. Samantha Cedillo‚ 31 at the time of the accusation in March‚ was charged in 2023 with first-degree sexual assault of an inmate — which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.Cedillo pleaded no contest and was sentenced to probation on the amended charge of attempt of a class 2A felony.However‚ Cedillo was spared jail time when District Court Judge LeAnne Srb sentenced her to three years of probation. Cedillo is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm and ordered to maintain employment‚ abstain from drugs and alcohol‚ attend a women’s trauma group‚ and participate in a parenting program. Cedillo must also register as a sex offender.If Cedillo completes her probation‚ she is eligible to have the conviction dropped. “This is a disturbing case‚” Srb told Cedillo. “What happened here should not have happened.”Her attorney‚ James McGough‚ said‚ "One of the issues created with trauma she has experienced in her past‚ it changes someone and has ripple effects.
