There seems to be no end to the Secret Service's incompetence. Just when you think the July 13 shooting of former President Donald Trump couldn't have gone any worse, a new detail proves that it did. A Thursday report from The New York Times offered another one of those details....

A bipartisan group of senators have introduced a bill to end the Selective Service. The bill, introduced by Sens. Senate Democrats this year added language to the annual defense authorization bill to require women to register for the draft, prompting a backlash from Republicans and social conservatives. A measure to compel women to register for potential service has continuously been stripped out of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) year after year, most recently in 2021 and 2022. Per WEHT: Sen. Wyden called the bill to repeal the Military Selective Service Act common sense bill that keeps money in American wallets and prevents the replication of “the same draft that sent two million unwilling young men to war 50 years ago.” The bill has been endorsed by several groups, including the Center on Conscience and War, World Beyond War, the International Peace Research Association and the Committee Opposed to Militarism and the Draft. An F-16 fighter jet dumped two fuel tanks during an emergency while flying over Michigan. One of the fuel tanks exploded in Lake Huron. “The FAA, along with military officials, are investigating an incident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon involving one of the two F-16 fighter jets from the 180th Fighter Squadron of the Toledo, Ohio, Air National Guard. While operating in the Baldwin Township, Michigan area, one of the F-16 jets experienced an emergency, prompting the pilot to jettison two external fuel tanks full of jet fuel,” Rawsalerts wrote. “One of these tanks exploded upon impact in Lake Huron, while the other landed in a retail parking lot, causing damage to several vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries to bystanders were reported, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office. After confirming the flight details and no plane or pilots were in the water. The U.S. Coast Guard recovered a partial suspected fuel tank from Lake Huron. Divers were never deployed but were available on the water depending on what was found during the search,” the Iosco County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. Per CBS News: Law enforcement authorities discovered two F-16s from the 180th Fighter Squadron in Toledo were operating in the area. One had declared an emergency and dumped two full external fuel tanks. One of the tanks landed in Lake Huron and exploded, while the other landed in the Baldwin Plaza parking lot, which includes a Tractor Supply, Sav-a-lot, and a Michigan Secretary of State location. There was minor damage to a few vehicles, but no one was injured, according to the sheriff’s office. In an update, the sheriff’s office said the U.S. Coast Guard was able to recover a “partial suspected fuel tank from Lake Huron.” It was also stated the Oscoda Airport received a distress call from a military aircraft that was identified as a “Buzz 11.” WATCH:

Acting U.S. Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe told reporters on Friday that his agency was fully responsible for the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump last month and that the agency “should have had eyes” on the roof where 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks shot the former president. “The Secret Service takes full responsibility for the tragic events of July 13th,” Rowe told reporters. “This was a mission failure. The sole responsibility of our agency is to make sure our protectees are never put in danger.” Rowe said that agency was fully cooperating with all relevant investigations into the events of that day and that the Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility is currently conducting a mission assurance review that will pursue accountability for the agency’s failures. Potential policy violations are referred to our office of integrity and appropriate discipline is administered under our table of penalties.” He said that the Secret Service is facing a fast moving “unprecedented threat environment” during the current campaign and that he has the backs of those who work for him. “In no way should any state or local agency supporting us in Butler on July 13th be held responsible for our Secret Service failure,” Rowe said.
