A female Olympic boxer from Bulgaria and her coach staged a protest in the ring after losing to a controversial opponent, Lin Yu‑ting of Taiwan, who failed past gender tests.  Svetlana Staneva made an “X” gesture two times with her hands after the match on Sunday – an apparent reference to having XX chromosomes as a female. And the fighter’s coach, Borislav Georgiev, shared a note with the press that read, “I only want to play with women I am XX.”  According to The Washington Post, Georgiev said he wrote the note but indicated that he was speaking on behalf of Staneva, who did not talk to the press.  Lin, according to the International Boxing Association (IBA), failed two gender tests and has the chromosomal pattern of a male, XY.  A fourth female boxer is knocked out of the Olympics by a male. Despite both boxers previously failing IBA gender tests, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has permitted them to fight against biological females and has repeatedly issued statements asserting that Lin and Khelif are women. IBA CEO Chris Roberts said during the presser that a blood test in 2019 showed that the fighters had “inconsistent” results, suggesting that the bloodwork was inconsistent with that of a female. And in 2023, another test revealed that the fighters “demonstrated the chromosomes we refer to in competition rules that make both boxers ineligible.” Roberts further explained that Lin and Khelif were informed that they tested for XY chromosomes and were given the opportunity to appeal the findings to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The IBA, he said, offered to pay the majority of the appeal; Yu-ting did not appeal, while Khelif appealed initially but then withdrew the appeal. The IOC, though, is sticking by its decision to allow Lin and Khelif to compete in the women’s division. Tim Walz as her running mate, a leftist who, last year, signed an executive order protecting life-altering gender procedures on minors in his state. The order also directed state agencies to refuse approval for health insurance plans that do not cover gender procedures. Most normal people who had the unfortunate fate of turning on the Paris Olympics opening ceremony were at least a little weirded out by the images on the screens in front of them. For Christian viewers, the opening ceremony was downright blasphemous. The ceremony featured a parody of The Last Supper that showed a large woman wearing a halo and presumably representing Jesus surrounded by drag queens. Shortly into the boxing competition in Paris, it became clear that the women were at a disadvantage as two boxers who failed gender tests last year brutalized their competition and both reached the semifinals.  One female competitor forfeited within 46 seconds of her match with Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who was disqualified during the 2023 World Championships after failing a gender test. Another female lost her chance to win gold when Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting defeated her. Lin Yu-ting also failed a gender test that was conducted by the International Boxing Association (IBA) last year.  The IBA also held a press conference this week, defending its gender tests on the boxers. “The blood results look and say — the laboratories — that this boxer is male,” said Dr. Ioannis Filippatos, the former Chair of the IBA Medical Committee.  The Olympics, for obvious reasons, is one of the biggest opportunities for companies to advertise their products to the world. Spending millions of dollars on ads during the Olympics could boost companies in ways that just aren’t possible at any other time of the year.  But there comes a time when it’s just plain wrong to give your money to the people comfortable with planning and broadcasting a ceremony that disrespects the largest religion in the world and approves of women competing against boxers whose biological sex is in question.
