Authorities believe the fires were intentionally started and are investigating the incident as arson. ​ This attack is part of a broader trend of anti-Tesla vandalism. Fox News reports: Tesla car owners, dealerships and charging stations have been targeted nationwide in protest against electric carmaker CEO Elon Musk and his involvement with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to slash wasteful spending and fraud within the federal government. An Oregon Tesla dealership, located 10 miles south of Portland, was targeted by gunshots Thursday, damaging multiple cars and shattering windows, The Associated Press reported. Earlier this month, a man was arrested after Molotov cocktails were thrown at a Tesla dealership in Salem, Oregon, the Salem Statesman-Journal reported. In Massachusetts, several Tesla charging stations were set on fire. When firefighters arrived, multiple Superchargers were “engulfed in flames and heavy, dark smoke,” according to Littleton police. More than half a dozen chargers were damaged. Brookline police recently arrested a Boston man caught on video allegedly tagging Tesla vehicles with Musk decals and sharing the footage on X. The move marks an escalation in the administration’s effort to claw back the climate money following its assertions that the Environmental Protection Agency had sought to evade oversight by depositing the $20 billion in Citibank accounts in the waning days of President Joe Biden’s term. The court-appointed attorney, Paul D. Clement, counseled U.S. District Judge Dale Ho to dismiss the indictment “with prejudice,” which would mean the federal government can’t bring the same charges again. Last month, federal prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss the corruption charges against Adams, arguing that Adams can’t effectively cooperate on immigration enforcement if he is fighting a corruption case. But prosecutors also asked for the right to bring the charges again. Ho sought advice from Clement, who was a solicitor general under President George W. Bush, because the Justice Department took the unusual approach of requesting the dismissal on political grounds: that Adams’ indictment limited his ability to assist in President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda.
