Complete List Of Grateful Dead Band Members

The Grateful Dead emerged in the San Francisco Bay Area’s vibrant early 1960s music scene, marking their inception in 1965 at the height of the psychedelic movement. The band was formed from the remnants of a local jug band called Mother McCree’s Uptown Jug Champions. Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann laid the foundation for what would become one of the most enduring and influential bands in rock and roll history. Known for their eclectic style, which fused elements of rock, folk, bluegrass, blues, reggae, country, improvisational jazz, psychedelia, and space rock, the Grateful The post Complete List Of Grateful Dead Band Members appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

Top Secret Service Officials Reportedly Denied Trump Security’s Repeated Requests For Additional Resources

THE DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Secret Service officials repeatedly denied requests for additional resources made by former President Donald Trump’s detail prior to the July 13 assassination attempt, the Washington Post reported. Trump was slightly wounded in the right ear on July 13 when a gunman fired multiple shots during the attempted assassination at the Butler County, Pennsylvania, rally, killing former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore and wounding two other attendees. The Post reported that for at least two years prior to the deadly incident, Trump’s detail was denied resources, including counter-sniper teams for a 2023 appearance in Pickens, South Carolina, where a number of buildings surrounded Trump’s stage. “It’s just true—we don’t have the resources to secure him [Trump] like we did when he was president,” one official told the Washington Post, which reported that events involving President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were competing for resources last week. Agents were also involved in advance work for the Republican National Convention, according to the Post. One former Secret Service agent placed the blame on top leaders for the resource shortage. “I hate to dumb it down this much but it is a simple case of supply and demand. The requests get turned down routinely,” retired Secret Service agent Bill Gage told the Post. “A director has to finally come forward to say we are way understaffed and we cannot possibly continue with this zero fail mission without a significantly bigger budget.” Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, the House Judiciary Committee chairman, wrote to FBI Director Christopher Wray Thursday, saying that whistleblowers have informed his committee that Trump’s detail was short-handed due to the NATO summit in Washington, D.C. and Jill Biden’s campaign event in Pittsburgh. Wray is slated to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. Since the July 13 assassination attempt, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. received Secret Service protection after it was previously denied. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has faced multiple calls for her resignation and is expected to testify at a House Oversight Committee hearing investigating security lapses at the July 13 rally Monday. Trump survived an assassination attempt during his 2016 campaign for the White House during a campaign event in Las Vegas, when a 20-year-old man tried to take a police officer’s gun to shoot the then-presumptive GOP nominee during a June 2016 campaign event in Las Vegas. ABC Huffs Biden’s Drop Out Will ‘Be Used By Republicans’ Against Dems

President Biden was finally cogent enough to read the writing on the all on Sunday and announced via X that he was going to “stand down” from his bid for reelection. But will over 14 million Democratic Party primary votes already cast in his favor, and more than enough delegates to be named the nominee, what about democracy? Well, during ABC’s Special Report covering the breaking news, chief Washington Correspondent Jon Karl huffed that Republicans were gearing up to take the Democratic Party to court to protect the voters and their rights. “Well, you have two things that you're going to have now in terms of blowback from the Republicans,” Karl announced. He then put on something of a mocking voice and seemed to rhetorically scoff at the idea of defending voters rights: ‘This would be anti-democratic. This would be in defiance of democracy, that, you know, the idea that, he's won the primary, he's won 14 million votes And now the Democrats are going to, you know, if they try to switch him out, we will challenge that. Those voters had a right.’ “So, you know, the whether those legal challenges will succeed are highly uncertain,” he added. He went on the whine: “But they will go and they will try to do this in state after state to try to keep the new Democratic nominee, whether it's Kamala Harris or whoever it is, off the ballot saying that it was Joe Biden's name that should be on the ballot because it was Joe Biden that won those primaries.”     Karl then warned that Republicans were going to argue that since Biden’s condition has kept him from running and trying to serve for four more years, it meant Biden shouldn’t be president in the here and now: But the other thing you're going to see happening, and you're already seeing happening is, Republicans are going to come out and they're going to say, ‘Joe Biden is saying that he is unable to campaign, to go forward with a presidential campaign. How can he go forward with being president of the United States?’ And you are seeing the demands already from Republicans that he resign, resign as president because how can you continue as the commander in chief if you are – this is the argument, how can you continue as commander in chief if you can't continue as a candidate? “Now, Biden has made it very clear in his – in his letter announcing he wasn't going to be running again, that he fully intends to complete his term and concentrate on all the work that he has to do as president. He's simply getting out as the candidate,” he argued. “But this is going to be something that is absolutely going to be used by Republicans.” Karl also expressed displeasure with future Republicans would make, which called out Vice President Harris for not disclosing Biden’s severe cognitive decline to the American people: And by the way, I'll add I'll add one other, Rachel, and you've heard this as well, if Kamala Harris is the nominee and with Biden's endorsement, it sure seems like she will be the nominee for president, you will hear the argument that is made, ‘Well, why didn't you tell us how, how much Biden, how much the president had declined?’ They will portray her as part of essentially a cover-up of the president's declining, mental acuity and how age had taken its toll. Meanwhile, the liberal media were demanding the 25th Amendment to be used on Trump after the 2020 election (even before it).

CBS Already Playing The Race Card For Harris, Hails Her As 'Brilliant'

Following President Joe Biden’s decision to end his re-election bid and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, CBS’s Krstine Johnson welcomed journalist Ed Gordon of fellow Paramount property Black Entertainment Television. Gordon wasted no time playing the race card in defense of Harris while hyping her “brilliant” record on abortion. Johnson asked, “I know you are close to the vice president. You mentioned earlier that you said, 'Is the nation ready to elect its first female black president?' Is Kamala Harris, in your opinion, ready for the road that's ahead of her?”     Gordon, who interviewed Biden just last week, was not a fan of the question, “Yeah, I think, and I’m bothered sometimes by that question. I think African-Americans in these positions get that question far more than we give others.” Apparently, no vice president has ever been asked if they were ready to assume the duties of president before Harris. As it was, Gordon went on to give Harris a long and gushy endorsement, “I think, you know, three-and-a-half years in the White House has certainly readied her more than any other person on the Democratic side. She is a bright woman. She's been in politics for a long time. She certainly, I believe, has the ambition now. She stood stalwart next to Joe Biden, but someone in her position would certainly, I think, rise to this occasion, and I think she's ready, able, and willing to say ‘I want to take this task on.’" Johnson then put the ball on the tee, “What are some of those personal qualities that you know about her that you feel will help in the road ahead?” Gordon hyped Harris’s record on abortion, urging viewers to forget about the border chaos because that wasn’t really her fault: Well, I think what we've seen her do at the outset when she was given the idea of handling reproductive rights, a lot of people have suggested, you know, that she stumbled and failed on the border issue, but I think that that's one of those issues that everyone who's been front and center of that, and I'm talking about presidents who were seated in office have had the opportunity to use the bully pulpit, but haven't been able to get their arms around the best way to handle that, but she, as many people have suggested, found her footing around reproductive rights.  Confusing making a scene at Senate hearings in order to go viral with being substantive, Gordon continued, “She's a brilliant woman, a great orator, and the energy that she's going to bring to this if, in fact, she becomes the nominee is extraordinary. We've seen her in debates before. We've seen her during Senate hearings. She's quick on her feet. I think she'll be a formidable opponent.” With press coverage like that, who needs a communications team? Here is a transcript for the July 21 coverage: CBS News Special 7/21/2024 2:41 PM ET KRISTINE JOHNSON: Well, he did put the word out that he is, in fact, endorsing his vice president. So, I do wonder if that was meant for everyone in the Democratic Party to hopefully just fall in line. I know you are close to the vice president. You mentioned earlier that you said “is the nation ready to elect its first female black president?” Is Kamala Harris, in your opinion, ready for the road that's ahead of her? ED GORDON: Yeah, I think, and I’m bothered sometimes by that question. I think African-Americans in these positions get that question far more than we give others. I think, you know, three-and-a-half years in the White House has certainly readied her more than any other person on the Democratic side.  She is a bright woman. She's been in politics for a long time. She certainly, I believe, has the ambition now. She stood stalwart next to Joe Biden, but someone in her position would certainly, I think, rise to this occasion, and I think she's ready, able, and willing to say "I want to take this task on." JOHNSON: What are some of those personal qualities that you know about her that you feel will help in the road ahead? Biden drops bid for 2nd term — what happens next?

As expected, President Joe Biden announced Sunday afternoon that while he would not resign from office, he would drop his bid for another term in the White House."I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," his announcement read in part.Should the delegates choose someone other than Harris, they will have a major messaging problem on their hands. ... If the party delegates decide to pass on Harris, Democrat leaders will have a tough time explaining the decision to override the will of their own voters. The initial statement made no mention of endorsing a candidate, but a subsequent social media post from Biden revealed he has thrown his support behind his second in command, Vice President Kamala Harris.Biden's "full support and endorsement" of Harris puts her in the driver's seat for the Democratic nomination for president in the 2024 election, and many Democrats are likely to support the only female and just the second black official ever to become president or vice president.Still, her nomination is not necessarily a lock. For one thing, polling indicates that she would fare worse than Biden in a head-to-head matchup with former President Donald Trump. In a statement about Biden's withdrawal, Trump said he believes Harris "will be even easier to beat."Other names mentioned as possible replacements for Biden include Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, both of whom have previously stated they are not interested in running for president or vice president this election season.Should the delegates choose someone other than Harris, they will have a major messaging problem on their hands. In the past several months, more than 14 million Americans cast a primary vote for the Biden-Harris team. If the party delegates decide to pass on Harris, Democrat leaders will have a tough time explaining the decision to override the will of their own voters. To date, more than 4,000 Democratic delegates are already pledged to Biden. With Biden out of the race, the delegates are free to support another candidate of their choice. The Democratic Party had already promised to hold a "virtual roll call" in early August ahead of the Democratic National Convention. Should no one win a majority of those delegate votes, the 700 so-called superdelegates may then join the fray.Democrats will have to coalesce around a candidate soon. Their convention, the event during which candidates are formally certified, begins Aug.19.Like Blaze News?
