GovTrack Deletes Claim Harris Was Most Liberal Senator After GOP Ad

The media scrubbing of past articles to conform with today’s narratives about Vice President Kamala Harris is not limited claims about Harris being the “border czar.” Also, on Wednesday, the website GovTrack scrubbed a 2019 claim that Harris was the Senate’s most liberal member. On Wednesday, GovTrack was mentioned in an ad by Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick as he tried to tie Sen. Bob Casey to Harris. In the ad, CBS’s Norah O’Donnell tells Harris, “The nonpartisan GovTrack has rated you as the most liberal senator.”   Bob Casey just endorsed the most liberal nominee in U.S. history. pic.twitter.com/J0V6W7CUlh — Dave McCormick (@DaveMcCormickPA) July 23, 2024   The ad then goes on to show several extreme positions Harris took during her failed presidential campaign and subsequently went viral on social media, but as for GovTrack, they added an editor’s note to the bottom of an August 14, 2020 when she was named Biden's running mate: On July 23, 2024, this article was updated. The text ", especially given our ranking her as the most left-leaning senator in 2019 based on cosponsorship. But looking at the legislation she’s introduced tells a different story — judge for yourself." was removed. Once the 2019--2020 session of Congress was complete, the statistics for the entire session and for Harris's entire tenure in the senate showed a different story. Clicking on the first link directs the user to an error message, but an archived version of the link affirms that GovTrack did indeed rate Harris as the most liberal senator in 2019. GovTrack is now trying to distance themselves from their own reporting by urging people to consider the entire 2019-2020 session, but clicking on that link informs the user that Harris was the second most liberal senator in front of only Sen. Bernie Sanders. As for Harris’s entire tenure, she still ranks as being more left-wing than Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Ultimately, none of GovTrack’s attempts to walk back their own research makes any sense. Her ranking may fluctuate from year to year, but anyone who is the most liberal at one point is not a moderate.

Twitch Joins Meta, YouTube, Lifts Ban on Trump Account Just in Time for Election

Amazon-owned Twitch has finally reinstated former President Donald Trump’s account, just after he formally accepted the GOP nomination for president in 2024. Twitch banned Trump “indefinitely” in 2021 following the Capitol protest on Jan. 6. TechCrunch reported that Twitch has now reinstated Trump’s account because he is a presidential nominee in the upcoming 2024 election. Twitch stated “there is value in hearing from presidential nominees directly, when possible,” TechCrunch reported. Trump’s team used his channel on Twitch in 2020 to broadcast his campaign events, the outlet explained, something they can now do again. “We continue to enforce our Community Guidelines and take necessary enforcement action when we identify violations of our rules,” TechCrunch quoted a Twitch spokesperson. “Twitch doesn’t have a ‘public figure policy,’ meaning all channels are equally subject to our guidelines, regardless of whether the channel belongs to a public figure.” Other tech companies have made similar decisions over the course of the 2024 presidential election cycle. Meta recently declared that Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts are cleared of any remaining penalties from past violations, meaning he can post on his account without being within a hair’s breadth of losing it.  Meta, like Twitch, cited Trump’s presidential nominee status. The company had already reversed its ban on Trump in January 2023. Google-owned YouTube also lifted its ban, but Trump continues to prioritize his Truth Social platform. Twitch’s decision to reinstate Trump came after the former president survived an assassination attempt and went on to accept the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention. Case Dismissed: Nina ‘Mary Poppins’ Jankowicz Loses Defamation Suit

Case Dismissed: Nina ‘Mary Poppins’ Jankowicz Loses Defamation Suit

Nina Jankowicz just found out the hard way that in America you can call a spade a spade. The former head of the defunct government censorship board just lost her lawsuit claiming she was defamed by being labeled a “censor.” Jankowicz sued Fox News for alleged libel, claiming that she was forced to resign from the now-defunct Disinformation Governance Board (DGB) “as a result of Fox's false statements and the ensuing harassment.” But a Delaware Chief U.S. District Court Judge Colm Connolly ruled against Jankowicz. He argued the alleged defamatory statements “cannot support Jankowicz’s defamation claim because the Complaint does not plausibly allege that they are not substantially true.”  Jankowicz, who has been a Wilson Center fellow and an advisor to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, describes herself as “an internationally-recognized expert on disinformation and democratization.” Last year she defended her lawsuit during a Guardian interview. She whined, “It was lies, very personal and very vitriolic lies. And I don’t think that is democratic.” Without addressing her work to crush Americans’ rights, she pontificated, “If we can’t agree on statements of fact, how can you live in a democracy?”  Judge Connolly ruled that she did not prove that Fox published vitriolic lies, however. In his ruling, the judge explained his reasoning. “Fox contends, and I agree, that Jankowicz has not pleaded facts from which it could plausibly be inferred that the challenged statements regarding intended censorship by Jankowicz are not substantially true. On the contrary, as noted above, censorship is commonly understood to encompass efforts to scrutinize and examine speech in order to suppress certain communications.” Connolly added that “The Disinformation Governance Board was formed precisely to examine citizens’ speech and, in coordination with the private sector, identify ‘misinformation,’ ‘disinformation,’ and ‘malinformation.’ D.I. 31-1 at 10. For the reasons discussed above, that objective is fairly characterized as a form of censorship.” Author and legal analyst Jonathan Turley wrote in an X post that the ruling “shatters the spin out by Jankowicz and the anti-free speech movement.” Turley was unsurprised by the “Mary Poppins of Defamation,” as he calls her, losing her bid to protect her censorship work from honest reporting. “The federal court has dismissed the defamation case of Nina Jankowicz. As some of us predicted, the criticism of Jankowicz was deemed opinion,” Turley posted on X, linking to his 2023 column on the suit.  Despite her claims to the contrary, Jankowicz has repeatedly supported censorship efforts. She even infamously posted a cutesy TikTok video where she said, “You can just call me the Mary Poppins of disinformation.” MRC Free Speech America revealed at the time how members of the DGB, Michael Chertoff and Jennifer Daskal, were tied to leftist billionaire George Soros. Jankowicz continues her anti-free speech efforts through her new censorship organization The American Sunlight Project. How radical is Kamala Harris? Here are 13 things she personally endorsed

Vice President Kamala Harris has spent the last three and a half years in Joe Biden’s shadow spinning word salads and pretending to know what she’s talking about. In many ways, she’s been an afterthought – someone to roll our eyes at and poke fun at. But now that she’s in the running for the Democratic presidential nomination, we’re obligated to take her more seriously. What exactly are Kamala Harris’ policies? Glenn Beck delves into the VP’s political history to give you an accurate picture of what a presidency under Kamala would look like. Here are 13 things about Kamala Harris that everyone should know. See on Instagram 1. “She was one of only 14 people that endorsed the Green New Deal,” says Glenn. Among those who signed it were Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, placing Kamala with “the radical of the radical.” 2. Harris “co-sponsored single-payer health care” (i.e. universal health care). 3. She advocated for “a complete transition away from fossil fuels in ten years” – which would have led to the “collapse of our economy,” says Glenn. 4. She supported a “universal government jobs guarantee.” 5. “She was also for government programs promising universal access to healthy foods.” 6. “She wanted to upgrade every single home and business building in the country for energy efficiency.” 7-13. Harris also supported “UBI – Universal Basic Income,” “new national living wage standards,” “more power for labor unions,” “free college,” “a whole new electric grid,” “the end of gasoline cars by 2030,” “and the transformation of U.S. agriculture, including the end of much of the cattle industry.” “She’s a democratic socialist,” warns Glenn. “And incompetent.” Want more from Glenn Beck?To enjoy more of Glenn’s masterful storytelling, thought-provoking analysis, and uncanny ability to make sense of the chaos, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

Apple Maps is finally available on the web

Apple is often frustratingly averse to making its services available on the web, but starting today, Apple Maps is finally accessible via browsers. The public beta of Apple Maps on the web arrived on Wednesday, and users around the world can access it online right now. As Apple noted on its website, virtually anything you can do on the Apple Maps app is possible on the Apple Maps web app as well. That includes getting driving and walking directions to your destination, finding restaurants and hot spots in your area, ordering food directly from the Maps place card, and browsing curated Guides for cities around the world. Remember, this is just a beta, so more features will be added as Apple works to a final release. For instance, Apple says the Look Around feature will be available in the coming months, which lets users see 360-degree panoramic views of locations. Apple is giving all developers the ability to link out to Apple Maps on the web "so their users can get driving directions, see detailed place information, and more." This might not be Apple's most exciting product launch of the year, but personally, I'm thrilled to see an app I use frequently more readily available from my computer. There are several times a week when I want to quickly check and see how long it's going to take me to reach a destination. For years, I've turned to Google Maps, mostly because it was the only real option I had. As soon as Apple's alternative leaves beta, I'll probably make the switch. For now, Apple Maps on the web is available in English. The web app is compatible with Safari and Chrome on Mac and iPad, as well as Chrome and Edge on Windows PCs. Apple says that support for more languages, browsers, and devices is in the works. What Was Dentistry Like In The Medieval Period? (Video)

Dentistry in the medieval period was a challenging and often painful experience, reflecting the limited medical knowledge and resources of the time. Unlike today, the absence of anesthetics and modern sterilization techniques made dental procedures quite distressing and even dangerous. Medieval people did care about their teeth, using primitive but effective methods to maintain dental hygiene. They used abrasive substances like mint, pepper, and salt to clean their teeth, similar to how toothpaste functions today, despite not fully understanding the concept of dental plaque. Dental problems were prevalent among the rich due to their higher sugar consumption, leading to more frequent tooth decay. However, the poor often faced tooth erosion from using their teeth as tools. Medieval treatments for toothaches included remedies based on the now-debunked theory of the tooth worm, which was thought to cause dental pain by burrowing into teeth. Henbane seeds were burned and the smoke inhaled to supposedly kill these tooth worms, though this method was toxic and dangerous. Read moreSection: NewsVideosHistoryAncient TraditionsRead Later

Stone Age Sunday Roast: Neanderthal Diet Included Roasted Birds

Archaeologists and anthropologists continue to search for artifacts and skeletal remains that will reveal more details about the daily lives and lifestyles of the Neanderthals, the human species that disappeared from the face of the Earth approximately 40,000 years ago. One area of research that has attracted a lot of attention is the Neanderthal diet, which appears to have had quite a bit of overlap with the prehistoric modern human diet. While previous research revealed that Neanderthals hunted large animals for food, just like humans, recent studies have found that they also killed and roasted various types of small birds, showing just how complex and diverse their diets really were.
