Eric Church Says He Has A “Big Stack” Of Songs That Are Ready To Be Recorded For Another Album

Eric Church just released an album… and another one could soon be on the way? One could describe the Chief’s latest entrant into the musical world – Evangeline vs. The Machine – as this: a ride. The project, which is designed to be listened to from front to back, is a look into the genius of Church when he simply asks the question, “How far can I push this thing?” Personally, I feel like he slightly hints at that approach in the song “Rocket’s White Lincoln,” which is included in the album. Church will kick off the Free The Machine Tour later this year (he’s also got a number of shows before then), and he just got back from playing in London, England at the Royal Albert Hall – though that was an extension of his To Beat The Devil Residency that he had been doing at his Chief’s bar in Nashville, Tennessee. While the country star was across the pond, he sat down for an interview in the United Kingdom with Smooth Country’s Eamonn Kelly. The interview was short, but full of good tidbits about Church’s new music, as well as some revealing information about new music that has yet to see the light of day. Church first spoke about how the track list for Evangeline vs. The Machine came to be, and how there were a lot of songs to choose from for the project since he hadn’t been in the studio for almost half a decade: “We had a lot of songs. I haven’t made a record in four or five years. Actually, the last time we were in the studio was actually pre COVID. We were in 2019 and early 2020, and then COVID happened, and we sat on the record we had made for about a year. Then we put it out. So I hadn’t been in the studio in almost five years. So a lot of songwriting.” The Chief then got into musicians not fitting songs, and vice versa, for his latest album. It was difficult to pair the sound they were going for with some of the songs that he already had written, which led to a lot of songs being left out of Evangeline vs. The Machine: “I had been doing a lot of songwriting, but when we got the musicians together – the strings, the horns, the choir – not every song fit the musicians and not all the musicians fit the songs. It was kind of a dance between what our material was and what the album ended up being.” So Smooth Country’s Eamonn Kelly eventually just asked if Church is sitting on a lot of songs at the moment, and if they’ll ever be released. Here’s how Eric responded: “Oh yeah… I’ve got a big stack (of unreleased music). Hopefully, I think so. I don’t know what they’ll sound like.” Hell yeah. As an Eric Church fan myself, I wouldn’t be upset in the slightest if he quickly followed up Evangeline vs. The Machine with another project. That certainly would be welcomed with open arms by the country music community. And since I mentioned the Chief’s Free the Machine Tour that kicks off later this year, I thought I’d help you out by including a list of the tour’s stops in case you were interested: Free the Machine Tour Dates September 12      Pittsburgh, PA         PPG Paints Arena September 13      Columbus, OH         Nationwide Arena September 18      Philadelphia, PA*   Wells Fargo Center September 19      Boston, MA              TD Garden September 20     Brooklyn, NY           Barclays Center September 25      Green Bay, WI        Resch Center September 26     Milwaukee, WI        Fiserv Forum September 27     Des Moines, IA        Wells Fargo Arena October 2            Detroit, MI                Little Caesars Arena October 3            Lexington, KY          Rupp Arena October 9            Indianapolis, IN      Gainbridge Fieldhouse October 10          Grand Rapids, MI   Van Andel Arena October 11           Cleveland, OH         Rocket Arena October 23          Salt Lake City, UT  Delta Center October 24          Boise, ID                  ExtraMile Arena October 25          Spokane, WA           Spokane Arena November 6        Vancouver, BC        Rogers Arena November 7        Portland, OR           Moda Center November 8        Seattle, WA             Climate Pledge Arena November 13      Sacramento, CA     Golden 1 Center November 14      Fresno, CA              Save Mart Center at Fresno State November 15      Inglewood, CA        Intuit Dome The post Eric Church Says He Has A “Big Stack” Of Songs That Are Ready To Be Recorded For Another Album first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

While they’re ubiquitous in pop culture, there’s one place where you won’t find great white sharks, and that’s behind glass.
