The Rolling Stones 24 Tour Rocks MetLife Stadium Review 5-23-24

Last night, on May 23rd, 2024, I finally, for the first time in my life, was able to attend a Rolling Stones concert. I have been going to concerts since 1975, and I’ve seen some of the biggest bands of all time during their peak 70s years, including Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Boston, Tull, ELP, Yes, etc. Yet, I could never afford to see a Rolling Stones concert. However, since Mick Jagger has hit 80 years old, who knows how many more years we will have a chance to see the Rolling Stones. I just dug down The post The Rolling Stones 24 Tour Rocks MetLife Stadium Review 5-23-24 appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

Take a Trip to the Earth’s Quietest Room Where You Can Hear Yourself Blink

If you were asked where the most silent place on Earth is, you might respond Antarctica or somewhere in the Sahara Desert, but you’d actually be wrong. It’s in Minnesota—where among the many buildings of Orfield Laboratory lies the Anechoic Chamber, a place so scientifically configured to absorb sound, that a mere blink becomes deafening. Oblivious Biden Pretends Rising Food Prices Aren’t a Problem

Oblivious Biden Pretends Rising Food Prices Aren’t a Problem

If you’re having trouble affording groceries, don’t expect sympathy from the White House. In a recent interview, President Joe Biden was told that food prices are up more than 30% on his watch. But he casually dismissed this fact, claiming people have money to pay those elevated prices. This doesn’t just demonstrate Biden’s tone-deafness to the plight of Americans who struggle to afford necessities like groceries; it shows his ignorance of his own administration’s data. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average weekly paychecks have increased about $150 under Biden, or 14.1% in roughly three years. Normally, that would be cause for celebration, but not in the inflationary environment of “Bidenomics.” Because prices have risen an average of 19.3% during Biden’s tenure, the average real, or inflation-adjusted, weekly paycheck has shrunk by about $50, or 4.4%. Today’s larger paychecks buy less, and consumers are being squeezed by higher prices everywhere. This drop in purchasing power has many families relying on credit cards to make ends meet, pushing outstanding balances up to $1.1 trillion, even while the interest rate on that debt is at a record high. Contrary to the president’s claim, it doesn’t sound like Americans have the money to pay 30% more for food. As Americans put more necessities on their credit cards, finance charges alone have exploded to more than $200 billion per year. If people can’t afford rent and food, they certainly can’t afford mounting interest costs. Those higher interest costs can also be seen on mortgages, student loans, and car loans. Between those higher finance charges and the lost buying power from declining real earnings, a typical American family lost $8,100 of their annual income compared with when Biden took office. It’s no wonder people struggle to get by amid this cost-of-living crisis. Some major expenses, like a home renovation, can be put off in hard times. But food is a necessity, and there’s no avoiding these higher prices. This hits lower-income families particularly hard, because consumers shift their buying habits when inflation is high to save money. As middle- and even upper-income shoppers buy lower-priced items from their grocer to save money, there is a surge in demand for foodstuffs that were disproportionately bought by lower-income households. Eggs are just one example of this phenomenon. They have historically been a relatively inexpensive source of protein, vitamin D, and other nutrients. As more Americans swap purchases of things like beef with eggs to save money, the higher demand for eggs has pushed prices up much faster than the average inflation rate for food. That’s a key reason why egg prices are up 40.9% under Bidenomics. And eggs aren’t the only things at the grocery store that will induce sticker shock. Prices of other consumer staples such as flour, sugar, and butter have skyrocketed in price under Biden’s tenure, increasing 38.3%, 30.7%, and 35.9%, respectively. Americans’ incomes haven’t risen nearly as quickly as food prices have during the Biden administration, resulting from failed public policy. Spending and borrowing trillions of dollars we didn’t have, manipulating interest rates, and printing money to try to pay it all has crushed American consumers under an elephantine cost of living and burgeoning debt. Sadly, Biden seems blissfully unaware not only of the extent of this problem, but also of his role in taking food out of the mouths of Americans. Travis Kelce Defends Harrison Butker Over Benedictine Speech Backlash

Travis Kelce Defends Harrison Butker Over Benedictine Speech Backlash

Swifties are not gonna like this. After weeks of backlash against Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker for his pro-woman, pro-tradition, and pro-religion speech at the commencement ceremony at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, his celebrity teammate Travis Kelce spoke out in defense of Butker - which is huge, considering the fact that Kelce is dating pop singer/songwriter Taylor Swift, whose fans roasted Butker’s stance and traditional values. Here’s an excerpt from Butker’s speech on May 11 that garnered so much controversy: How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. Butker also condemned IVF and abortion as ways of “playing God.” Butker has been roasted by mainstream media, celebrities, and even other athletes over his traditional views and values. But on Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end came out in defense of Butker. Related: ‘Feminist Hags’ Blast Butker’s Pro-Woman Speech: MRCTV’s Mandelburg on OANN “I’ve known him for seven plus years, probably, eight plus years. And I cherish him as a teammate,” Kelce said on “New Heights,” a podcast he hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, a former Eagles player.   Kelce added the following about Butker, who he calls “Harry”: He’s treated friends and family that I’ve introduced to him with nothing but respect and kindness and that’s how he treats everyone. When it comes down to his views and what he said at Saint Benedict’s commencement speech, those are his. I can’t say I agree with the majority of it or just about any of it outside of just him loving his family and his kids and I don’t think that I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views, of how to go about life. That’s just not who I am. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared a similar sentiment on Wednesday, noting that Butker was a “good person” regardless of whether or not he necessarily agreed with him. While Travis Kelce annoys me and Taylor Swift can’t sing, I appreciate that Kelce, given his place in pop culture right now, defended his friend and acknowledged what we’ve been saying throughout this whole process: we’re all entitled to our own opinions and have a constitutional right to proclaim those opinions.  Follow us on Twitter/X: Despite the leftist mob coming to cancel him, The Kansas City Chiefs are standing behind Harrison Butker. Mitchell Spreads Disinformation About Thomas Condemning Brown v. Board

Mitchell Spreads Disinformation About Thomas Condemning Brown v. Board

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell spread straight-up disinformation on her Friday show as she accused Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas of condemning the famous 1954 case Brown v. Board of Education that ruled segregation unconstitutional because, apparently, nobody at MSNBC knows how to read. The context was the Court ruling that South Carolina did not do anything illegal in not drawing a second district where black voters would’ve made a substantial portion of the electorate. Addressing the NCAAP’s Janai Nelson, Mitchell read, “something that really was striking to me is Justice Clarence Thomas in his concurring opinion with the majority, he also went after Brown v. Board of Education, saying quote ‘such extravagant uses of judicial power are at odds with the history and tradition of the equity power and the Framers’ design.’”     Flabbergasted, she continued, “Now, Clarence Thomas took the seat of Thurgood Marshall, who argued Brown v. Board for the Legal Defense Fund. This landmark case that changed America forever. So, I’m just-- I can't get over that. Tell me what your reaction is.” Most people know Brown was decided in 1954 and banned segregation, but fewer people are aware of a second case decided in 1955 with the same name. It was that one Thomas was criticizing. Here’s what he wrote in full context: The Court’s ‘impatience with the pace of desegregation’ caused by resistance to Brown v. Board of Education, … ‘led us to approve . . . extraordinary remedial measures,’ … In the follow-on case to Brown, the Court considered ‘the manner in which relief [was] to be accorded’ for vindication of ‘the fundamental principle that racial discrimination in public education is unconstitutional.’ Brown v. Board of Education, … (1955) (Brown II). In doing so, the Court took a boundless view of equitable remedies, describing equity as being “characterized by a practical flexibility in shaping its remedies and by a facility for adjusting and reconciling public and private needs. That understanding may have justified temporary measures to 'overcome the widespread resistance to the dictates of the Constitution' prevalent at that time, but, as a general matter, ‘[s]uch extravagant uses of judicial power are at odds with the history and tradition of the equity power and the Framers’ design.’” Thomas clearly wrote “Brown II” and was clearly not condemning desegregation. Of course, Nelson wasn’t going to call Mitchell out on her disinformation. Instead, she also claimed Thomas was talking about Brown I and accused Thomas of being the one spreading fake news, “Well, we know Justice Thomas took the seat, but he did not fill it and what he did in disseminating disinformation about a landmark decision whose commemoration we just honored this past Friday, 70 years since Brown we see a Supreme Court justice who benefitted from Brown, as did every American, castigating that case, misconstruing it and suggesting that it stands for something that it does not.” Andrea Mitchell has been forced to issue multiple corrections for spreading fake news. It is time she does so again. Here is a transcript for the May 24 show: MSNBC Andrea Mitchell Reports 5/24/2024 12:49 PM ET ANDREA MITCHELL: And also, Janai, something that really was striking to me is Justice Clarence Thomas in his concurring opinion with the majority, he also went after Brown v. Board of Education, saying quote “such extravagant uses of judicial power are at odds with the history and tradition of the equity power and the Framers’ design.” Now, Clarence Thomas took the seat of Thurgood Marshall, who argued Brown v. Board for the Legal Defense Fund. This landmark case that changed America forever. So, I’m just-- I can't get over that. Tell me what your reaction is. JANAI NELSON: Well, we know Justice Thomas took the seat, but he did not fill it and what he did in disseminating disinformation about a landmark decision whose commemoration we just honored this past Friday, 70 years since Brown we see a Supreme Court justice who benefitted from Brown, as did every American, castigating that case, misconstruing it and suggesting that it stands for something that it does not. Brown requires that we provide equal access to our democracy through education, and it's anchored in the idea of citizenship. Brown said that one of the most important functions of local and state government is to provide an education for purposes of citizenship, and citizenship could not be more clearly exercised than through the voting process, and what the Supreme Court has done in Alexander v. South Carolina is completely distort that process, manipulate it, and allow partisan actors to completely capture that process in a way that directly harms black voters. It’s an invitation to exploit black voters for partisan gain.
