NYC Dem breaks with party to call for end to sanctuary policies 'shielding' criminal illegal aliens

New York City council member Robert Holden (D) is encouraging his fellow Democratic peers to support the termination of the city's existing sanctuary policies that are "shielding" criminal illegal aliens from federal immigration officials. On Wednesday, Holden sent a letter to Mayor Eric Adams (D), Governor Kathy Hochul (D), and other city and state legislative leaders, urging them to reconsider their support of sanctuary policies prohibiting local law enforcement officers from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.'The president actually could say to the governor and to the mayor, "Cooperate with us, or we're going to charge you with felonies."'"I write with grave concern about the continued impact of New York's sanctuary state and city policies, which not only violate [federal law] but also put New Yorkers in harm's way," Holden stated. "Federal statute explicitly prohibits the harboring, shielding, or concealing of illegal aliens, particularly those engaged in criminal activities."On Monday, Holden appeared on "Fox & Friends," where he applauded President-elect Donald Trump's incoming border czar, Tom Homan, for his recent warnings to political leaders who attempt to hinder ICE's deportation efforts.Holden told Fox News, "I love Tom Homan, the new border czar, who came last week on Fox and said, 'We're going to hold these mayors and governors accountable.'"He explained that some Democratic leaders are violating the law by using sanctuary policies to block federal immigration officials. "It's a felony," Holden said. "We're like shielding [illegal immigrants]. The governors, the Democratic governors, and the mayors of these sanctuary cities are shielding criminals and terrorists."He expressed national security concerns about local law enforcement agents being prohibited from communicating with their federal counterparts. Holden called it "unbelievable" that his fellow Democratic council members want to keep criminals and terrorists in the country.Kenneth Genalo, the director of ICE's New York City's field office, stated on Friday that "it would take a lifetime" to deport the criminal illegal aliens currently residing in the city.Adams has also expressed interest in rolling back the city's sanctuary status, claiming that his hands are tied unless city council members vote to repeal some of the policies. When asked what Adams could be doing to help get criminal illegal aliens off New York City's streets, Holden told Fox News that he could petition Hochul and call on the city council to negotiate amendments to the policies. "I'm looking to President Trump," Holden continued. "I think President Trump could say, 'You know what, if you're going to violate the laws, … it's a felony to shield and harbor illegal aliens who have committed crimes.'""The president actually could say to the governor and to the mayor, 'Cooperate with us, or we're going to charge you with felonies,'" he added. He mentioned that Homan had previously warned that local leaders could face federal charges for harboring illegal immigrants.Last week, Homan told Fox News, "Those people who say they're going to stop us from what we're doing, they will not.""Let me give you a word of advice: If you impede us, there's going to be consequences," he continued. "It is a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt had SHOCKING track record

On January 6, 2021, Capitol Police officer Michael Byrd shot and killed Ashli Babbitt, who was unarmed. Despite the lawsuit Babbitt’s family filed against Byrd and an eyebrow-raising disciplinary track record, Byrd has been repeatedly rewarded. Not only was he given a “$36,000 retention bonus, more than $21,000 in security upgrades at his personal residence, and instructions that [he] not sit for a fitness-for-duty evaluation after Jan. 6, 2021,” Byrd was also “promoted from lieutenant to captain in 2023,” according to a recent article by Blaze News investigative journalist Joseph Hanneman. Now Hanneman and fellow Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker join Jill Savage and Blaze News editor in chief Matthew Peterson on “Blaze News Tonight” to break it down. Byrd has “a history of carelessness with weapons,” says Hanneman. The most notable of these is the incident when Byrd “fired his service weapon at fleeing vehicles near his home while his neighbor was in the line of fire,” which was recently reported by a congressional oversight committee. Byrd also “left his service weapon on the toilet tank in the Capitol Visitor Center.” However, there are “three more case files” on Byrd, but these have magically “disappeared.” “The records are missing,” says Hanneman, adding that from what he understands, the contents of these missing reports make the incidents we already know about “look rather tame.” But Byrd’s incomplete record isn’t the only mystery. There’s also the conundrum of Frick and Frack — “the unidentified men near Ashli Babbitt when she was shot.” To learn more about the scandals surrounding the death of Ashli Babbitt, watch the episode above. Caitlyn Jenner suggests run for California governor, says of possible Harris challenge: 'I would destroy her'

Republican Caitlyn Jenner reacted positively to suggestions on social media the transgender activist run for governor of California. Jenner said that a run for governor might be in the cards after President-elect Donald Trump was able to push nearly every county to the right, including many in California. The activist previously ran for governor of California in a recall election in 2021 but garnered only 1% of the vote. 'MAKE CA GREAT AGAIN!'"Should we do it again? Have been getting a lot of calls with a lot of strong opinions," Jenner posted on social media. "Newscum is out in 2026," Jenner added, referring to current Gov. Gavin Newsom, who will be term-limited out of office. "The MAGA / America First movements are not nearly as bigoted as the intolerant left. If I were to run it would be proudly as a Republican. We are the big tent party and movement of common sense, for ALL!" read a second tweet from Jenner. Jenner also addressed the possibility being floated that Vice President Kamala Harris might run for California governor after her disastrous presidential campaign. A Politico report said Harris told allies and aides to prepare while she contemplated another campaign. "If I ran, and it was ultimately against Harris, I would destroy her," Jenner posted. Caitlyn Jenner was born Bruce Jenner and had been celebrated as a national hero after winning the gold medal in the decathlon in the 1976 Olympics. In 2015, Jenner stunned the world by identifying as a woman and asking to be called Caitlyn. Jenner has been excoriated by the transgender lobby for continuing to identify as a Republican and defending President-elect Donald Trump. "MAKE CA GREAT AGAIN!" Jenner posted. Like Blaze News? I want Apple’s iPhone 17 Air, but I have one major concern

I've been a fan of the iPhone 17 Air rumor for months now, hoping that Apple will indeed release its thinnest iPhone in years, or perhaps ever. After using the iPhone 16 Plus for nearly two months, I'm convinced I need an iPhone with a large display, but I definitely want it to be a lot thinner. I'll probably buy the iPhone 17 Air as soon as it comes out next year, even though I'll have to accept certain compromises. Considering what Apple did with the ultra-thin M4 iPad Pro, I knew the camera would be the phone's main compromise. The battery size is another obvious area where Apple will have to make compromises. But a new report gives us a few additional issues iPhone 17 Air buyers might have to deal with. Among them, there's a change that could prove to be my biggest concern about buying an ultra-thin iPhone. It's also something I didn't see coming: The potential lack of a physical SIM card slot. Continue reading... The post I want Apple’s iPhone 17 Air, but I have one major concern appeared first on BGR.
