How Much Exercise Do Whippets Need? Vet-Verified Care Tips

Click to Skip Ahead Whippets and Speed Ways to Exercise a Whippet About Whippets Characteristically similar to the Greyhound‚ the Whippet is an extremely speedy‚ highly athletic sighthound with an ancient history. They are well known for their incredible swiftness and agility. If the breed interests you‚ but you’re wondering if you have what it takes to match their exercise requirements‚ we will go over exactly how much exercise they will need and how you can ensure they get the physical and mental stimulation they require. In general‚ you should provide your Whippet with 1 – 2 hours of daily exercise. Whippets and Speed Image Credit: Ginger Livingston Sanders‚ Shutterstock Whippets are incredibly fast canines‚ reaching speeds up to 35 mph! This fact might intimidate you‚ thinking they require constant movement to thrive. You might be pleasantly surprised to know that while a Whippet can exert themselves quite a lot on the track‚ they are pretty chill in the home. Whippets are well known for being cuddle bugs that enjoy time curled up on the couch with their human. On average‚ Whippets need between 1 and 2 hours of solid daily exercise. They are quite content playing interactive games and walking on a lead‚ but they will also need time to run around. If you own a Whippet‚ it’s best to have a large fenced-in backyard‚ or somewhere they can run off leash in a secure space. They are usually a good choice for active families. However‚ if they lack a proper exercise outlet‚ it can cause nervousness and a whirlwind of other behavioral problems that come from pent-up energy and boredom. The 5 Ways to Exercise Your Whippet The Whippet is a master sprinter‚ and they will certainly need somewhere to burn off the extra steam. They might not require a lot more exercise in a day than any other average dog‚ but they will want to speed off in spurts. In addition to being able to run quickly into the unknown‚ they also require other exercises to keep them happy and healthy. Here are a few ideas. 1. Let Them Run! Image Credit: AlyssaDogPhotographer‚ Shutterstock Whippets will do what’s natural to them. If you allow them the space‚ they will take off in a cloud of dust. These dogs love nothing more than sprinting at least once a day. If you have a wide open backyard‚ this will allow your Whippet to run laps as much as they see fit before winding down for cuddle time. 2. Play Games Many Whippets will enjoy interactive games with their owners‚ like frisbee‚ ball‚ and other activities. You will quickly learn what your Whippet’s favorite games are‚ and you two can play them together. Not only does this increase bonding‚ but it will also ensure your Whippet is worn out at the end of the day. 3. Go to the Dog Park Image Credit: Dora Zett‚ Shutterstock Most Whippets are very agreeable with other dogs. If you have a dog park nearby‚ you can routinely visit so your Whippet can make friends and race a few willing people. They might not be the most confident dogs‚ so it might take a moment for them to warm up in social settings. But once they do‚ they are sure to find their place. 4. Take Them Jogging If you’re an athletic person‚ you can take your Whippet jogging with you. They will very much love this activity‚ as it gives them a chance to stretch their legs. Even though this is a high-impact workout‚ they still want room to run without you tying them down. So we still recommend letting your Whippet run off-leash even if they’re your jogging buddy. 5. Give Them a Friend Image Credit: Liliya Kulianionak‚ Shutterstock Nothing beats canine-canine companionship. Dogs love having another dog around to play with. Even though your Whippet won’t be the most rowdy of the bunch‚ they certainly will love having another pup around to spend time with who has a similar playing style. About Whippets If you really love the breed‚ you likely want to know more than just how much they exercise. So‚ for the remainder of this article‚ we will discuss the breed itself. Image Credit: Nadja Huebner‚ Shutterstock Height: 19–21 inches Weight: 20–40 pounds Lifespan: 12–15 years Colors: Fawn‚ red‚ orange‚ tan‚ cream‚ black‚ blue Personality Whippets are incredibly mild-mannered dogs. They do not usually act aggressively but are rather gentle. While they might make good watchdogs‚ they don’t make the best guard dogs because they simply don’t have the personality for it. Whippets are usually calm‚ cool‚ and collected. They love to burn off some steam but very much enjoy the affection and attention of their owners. This is undoubtedly a dog you can cozy up with on a lazy day. They also make great pets for children and older adults. They can even make excellent service animals for folks with certain disabilities. Appearance The Whippet is a slender‚ medium-sized dog with a classic sighthound appearance. Unlike many other breeds‚ you should be able to see your Whippet’s ribs! This is not the type of dog that should put on any extra weight at all‚ as their bodies simply aren’t designed for it. Juvenile Whippets will look much thinner than their adult counterparts‚ but none should ever look full. They have a very sleek‚ lean structure instead. Image Credit: Horse Crazy‚ Shutterstock Diet Because your Whippet is naturally thin‚ they will need a high-quality‚ protein-rich diet to replenish any lost calories that is formulated for their life-stage. You can work with your vet to determine the best diet for your pup. You can choose between dry kibble‚ wet canned food‚ and fresh food subscriptions. Each one comes with its benefits and downfalls‚ though fresh food is making its way up the scale in popularity. Grooming Whippets are straightforward to groom. They have short‚ thin coats that require occasional brushing to collect shedding. Because of their easy maintenance‚ you can do all the grooming at home. However‚ if you want to pamper your pup‚ you can always take them out for a grooming day at the doggy spa. Health Whippets are incredibly healthy dogs by nature. The list of ailments they suffer from is undoubtedly shorter than many other breeds.  So if you’re looking for a genetically sound animal requiring very few vet trips‚ Whippets can certainly be a  good option. However‚ like all breeds‚ they are prone to some health conditions. For Whippets these include certain immune mediated conditions‚ eye problems‚ and heart conditions. Heart failure is one of the leading causes of death in Whippets of increasing age. Image Credit: otsphoto Shutterstock Training If you’re interested in your Whippet getting into more advanced training‚ they make great candidates for various activities. Because of their lean muscle and swiftness‚ they could make very good candidates for agility training. You really have an advantage with your personality as well. These dogs are incredibly eager to please and thrive on human connection. They make very agreeable‚ easy-to-train dogs. How to Buy a Whippet Puppy It would be best to buy a Whippet puppy from a reputable breeder. We recommend looking on the AKC marketplace or through another valid source. Avoid sites like Hoobly and Craigslist‚ as these dogs are typically not regulated. Make sure the parents of the puppy you choose have had the relevant health screening‚ and it is also a good idea to ask about the medical history of the parents and grandparents so you can be aware of any health conditions in the family line. Many breeders will ask that you put a deposit down on the puppy you choose. You often have to sign puppy contracts stating that you will return the dog if you cannot care for them. Conclusion Now you understand that Whippets require between 1 and 2 hours of exercise per day‚ including mental training. These very intelligent dogs need all sorts of stimulation‚ though they’re rather low maintenance otherwise. Keep in mind that if you are considering buying a Whippet‚ you will either need a large fenced-in backyard‚ many acres to explore‚ or you can devote time every day to let them run out their sprinting instincts. The hidden costs of going green: Part 2

The hidden costs of going green: Part 2

There is a need to minimize the negative impact we have on our planet. However‚ our adoption of recent green technologies in the pursuit of minimizing environmental damage has already led to unforeseen and all-too-unmentioned ecological destruction. Is this just the price we have to pay? You can read Part 1 here. Note: This article originally appeared in the print edition of Return. E-waste: Guiya‚ China &; Agbogbloshie‚ Ghana Along with reducing energy consumption and the replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energy is the third great eco-commandment: Thou shalt recycle. Drilled into us as children and now for many an unconscious habit‚ the act of recycling is considered part of the virtuous package of green beliefs and an essential component in the “circular economy.” But recent scandals have exposed the great fraud of recycling and its empty promises. We should remember that these green technologies were always viewed and sold under a premise — that these technologies are not only technically efficient and productive‚ but they are morally good. In 2018‚ under a policy called “National Sword‚” China banned 24 types of plastic entering the country. At a stroke‚ the entire foundation of the world’s recycling system was demolished. Panic set in as countries began frantically searching for somewhere else to dump their trash. The harder questions then began to be asked about how and why industrial nations are producing so much plastic. It was also discovered that the alternatives to China were horrifying‚ ranging from burning plastic in residential areas to just dumping it in the ocean. Back in 2017‚ alarm bells should have been ringing when a research paper estimated that since 2015‚ humans have produced roughly 6‚300 million metric tons of plastic and that only 9% of it has been recycled. The remainder was either burned (12%) or packed into a landfill (79%). Plastics and the subsequent exposure to microplastics as a serious threat to human and animal health have dominated the environmental headlines for the last few years. But the question of electronic waste‚ “e-waste‚” has been relatively under-discussed. Electronic and digital infrastructure is often touted as the greener and more eco-friendly of any given option — banks often ask you to review your statement online rather than print one on paper. But this ignores the immense damage that electronics cause during their production and particularly during their disposal. The full list of chemicals and substances found within e-waste is vast‚ but some of the more potent include brominated flame retardants‚ polybrominated diphenyl ethers‚ polybrominated biphenyls‚ polychlorinated biphenyls‚ polychlorinated dibenzodioxins‚ polyaromatic hydrocarbons‚ lead‚ chromium‚ cadmium‚ mercury‚ lithium‚ arsenic‚ and bismuth. The sheer volume of this waste has ballooned out of control; China alone was estimated to have produced 15 million metric tons in 2020. In general‚ we can categorize e-waste into three main types: large household appliances (fridges‚ freezers‚ etc)‚ personal equipment (smartphones‚ tracker gadgets‚ TVs)‚ and IT equipment (monitors‚ servers‚ fiber-optic cables‚ etc). All of these are set to increase as the costs of production have lowered for the average consumer and as more countries develop their digital infrastructure. The movement and shipping of e-waste is‚ in principle‚ subject to control through the Basel Convention (in force since 1992). However‚ without the ratification of the United States and with precious few enforcement mechanisms‚ the Convention has failed to prevent millions of tons of e-waste from being transported and dumped across the world. One place‚ in particular‚ has garnered international attention — Agbogbloshie‚ Ghana — and is listed among the top 10 most toxic places on earth. Despite some substantial hyperbole about illegal e-waste trafficking‚ the waste dump near the center of Accra does pose a huge health risk‚ both to the adults and children working there and the greater environment of the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. In particular‚ the open fires used to melt the plastic from copper wiring and the subsequent extraction by hand of precious metals and electronic components without safety equipment causes horrific neurological and physical harm to the workers. Similarly‚ in Guangdong‚ China‚ the former rice village of Guiya was quickly established as the electronic graveyard of the world. In the early 2000s‚ over 60‚000 people were employed under the most primitive conditions to harvest and extract valuable metals from e-waste‚ sent from all over the world. Burning plastic‚ soaking chips in acid baths‚ and breathing in dioxin-tainted ash‚ the workers were recovering gold‚ toner‚ copper‚ and silver. The water became undrinkable and had to be brought from elsewhere‚ rice could not be grown‚ children were exposed to critical levels of lead‚ and toxic dust saturated with chromium‚ nickel‚ and zinc settled over the town. Since 2007 the area has been subject to state-led efforts to raise safety and health standards‚ but the pollution and contamination are likely permanent and have yet to be dealt with. One major incentive to bring e-waste recycling back under national controls is the growing problem of data security within e-waste. All those mobile phones‚ hard drives‚ servers‚ and consumer gadgets are packed with passwords‚ personal data‚ and in some cases even state secrets. Journalists reporting on Agbogbloshie went rummaging through the informal markets that surround the dump‚ and they found a hard drive containing unencrypted sensitive U.S. government data. A team of journalists investigating the global electronic waste business have unearthed a security problem too. In a Ghana market‚ they bought a computer hard drive containing sensitive documents belonging to U.S. government contractor Northrop Grumman. ... They were marked ‘competitive sensitive’ and covered company contracts with the Defense Intelligence Agency‚ the National Aeronautics and Space Administration‚ and the Transportation Security Agency. Organized crime in Ghana has realized the gold mine of information that Agbogbloshie represents and regularly purchases hard drives‚ looking for useful data: The students take the hard drives to Regent University in the Ghanaian capital and ask computer scientist Enoch Kwesi Messiah to help read what is on them. Within minutes‚ he is scrolling through intimate details of people’s lives‚ files left behind by the hard drives’ original owners. There is private financial data‚ too: credit card numbers‚ account information‚ records of online transactions the original owners may not have realized were even there. “I can get your bank numbers‚ and I retrieve all your money from your accounts‚” Messiah says. “If ever somebody gets your hard drive‚ he can get every information about you from the drive‚ no matter where it is hidden.” That’s particularly a problem in a place like Ghana‚ which is listed by the U.S. State Department as one of the top sources of cybercrime in the world. The return of the state Rost-9D/Getty I selected the three problems addressed in these articles — polymetallic nodule mining‚ sand extraction‚ and e-waste — as good examples of the relationship between the environment‚ technology‚ health‚ and the state. The ‘90s paradigm of globalization outstripping the nation-state and rendering it obsolete has thankfully run its course‚ although some tone-deaf commentators and ideologues are still wedded to the “market first” vision of humanity. What has come screeching back into the void of COVID-19‚ the retreat of U.S. hegemony‚ and the rise of China is the fundamental importance of national governance. Some‚ like the U.K.‚ are beginning to realize how withered their powers have become; others‚ like China‚ are confidently asserting their muscle. The control of national territory‚ especially in the ocean; the enforcement of national treaties; the ability to shut borders to the flow of material goods; the development of safety protocols and infrastructure for recycling critical technologies (e.g.‚ batteries); the protection of ecological assets‚ and the ability to tackle organized and transnational crime are all fundamental tasks of the nation-state. While the left-wing environmentalists are correct that pollution or biodiversity depletion doesn’t magically stop at the border‚ what we must recognize is that handing over national autonomy to international organizations not only hasn’t helped but neutralizes the very tools needed to rein in the excesses of modernity. This is not to argue that national cooperation‚ treaties‚ international agreements‚ and so forth can’t be realized — they absolutely can‚ and they are best done through a strong national and territorial framework. We should remember and be wise to the fact that these green technologies were always viewed and sold under a normative premise — that is‚ these technologies are not only technically efficient and productive‚ but they are morally good. This makes challenging them that much harder since they are embedded in a framework of eco-solutions to the rampant environmental crimes of former times. Breaking the spell of the “Green Revolution‚” showing how tarnished and rotten the core is under the shiny surface‚ this should be our goal. We cannot afford for the hidden costs to remain invisible for much longer.

The destructive myth of ‘professional’ parenting

We’ve spent a century replacing the one thing that can never be replaced. So‚ let’s check the scoreboard. Today’s match pits the Progressive Era feminist writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman against 21st-century memoirist Rob Henderson‚ and it’s a blowout. As I never tire of saying‚ Gilman told a story about children by telling a story about loaves of bread. Home-baked loaves are inconsistent: different wheat and grind‚ different rise‚ different oven temperatures‚ different baking times. So‚ 100 loaves of home-baked bread are 100 different loaves. Some are burned on the outside‚ some are underbaked at the center. The things we know about children‚ the things we’ve spent thousands of years of human experience learning through direct experience‚ are now controversial. But industrial bread is consistent. The Second Industrial Revolution and the displacement of home industry by corporations‚ Gilman argued‚ standardized and professionalized the production of a thing that farm wives had been screwing up for centuries. Every loaf from the same giant commercial bakery was baked with the same ingredients‚ the same technique‚ the same ovens‚ the same temperature for the same amount of time‚ so the quality was predictable. If all that is true of just one home function we’ve professionalized‚ she wrote‚ why not keep professionalizing more of the things we’ve regarded as home functions? Why not raise children through the standardized interventions of credentialed teachers‚ trained social workers‚ and a centralized moral and intellectual curriculum developed by licensed professionals? Every loaf the same: the social vision of progressivism and the foundation of the displacement of family by the “helping professions.” Rob Henderson grew up in foster care — “living with nine different families before my eighth birthday” — and then with a rotating cast of adoptive parent figures. He bounced through his childhood‚ spending a few months in one foster home and then watching the caseworker show up to take him to his next temporary family. He’s written about this experience in a new book‚ “Troubled: A Memoir of Foster Care‚ Family‚ and Social Class.” I cannot recommend it highly enough. Very young children‚ Henderson writes‚ are answering a basic set of questions about who they are and what their lives mean. They watch the way adults treat them‚ and then they find out how much they're valued. Am I loved? Do I matter? Am I an object that gets discarded‚ or a person who is valued? That lesson makes their lives. It also makes a part of our lives‚ because we live in contact with the discarded children who grow up to be troubled adults. What children discover about themselves colors what they discover about the world that moves around them and shapes the way they live in it. Valueless life‚ valueless world. “When kids are in a stable environment with reliable parents and predictable patterns‚” Henderson writes‚ “they feel integrated into a social environment and find it easier to befriend peers who want the best for them.” This is why foster care is a pipeline to homelessness‚ drug addiction‚ and incarceration for so many children: Their childhood is teaching them instability and pain. Henderson had extensive contact with caseworkers‚ counselors‚ school psychologists‚ and (finally) substance abuse counselors. What he always needed was a family — parents who showed up and then stayed there. He quotes a sickening observation from a psychologist who treats abused children: “I have never met a child below age 10 who was tortured at home who would not have chosen to stay with his or her family rather than being placed in a foster home.” Young children who are brutally harmed by their parents nonetheless yearn for their mom and dad. They instinctively want a home‚ a family‚ a set of stable attachments. Dragged from abuse‚ they ache for home. If you're a parent‚ it hurts to read this. Act on that pain. We've spent decades making family unimportant‚ as deliberately designed public policy. We’ve torn down parenting as an honorable task and savaged the parent-child connection. California legislators mock the "talking points" of parental rights and explain that family is often very harmful. Children become mentally healthy and stable by receiving “mental health services” from trained professionals‚ who are obviously funded and provided by the government. The working assumption of the political class is that parents cannot meaningfully talk to children because they aren't even licensed to do that. Here‚ watch a legislator say it. The things we know about children‚ the things we’ve spent thousands of years of human experience learning through direct experience‚ are now controversial — if not entirely discarded. We cannot replace family with the helping professions. We will never succeed at this. We're sowing destruction in the lives of children by discarding their most necessary connection. Don't worry‚ though‚ because we can just assign them all a caseworker. Nothing else we ever do will be more shameful than this. We had a choice. We are now tolerating willful destruction.

'Babies on here': Man shot in the head with his own gun during brutal daytime battle on crowded NYC train

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) recently deployed 750 National Guardsmen and 250 additional officers from state-controlled law enforcement agencies to help curb crime on New York City's sprawling subway system. The presence of soldiers was evidently not enough of a deterrent Thursday to prevent a bloodletting on a busy train in Brooklyn. A fight caught on tape broke out on a northbound A Train in Brooklyn that left one man riddled with bullets and a crowd full of commuters cowering in fear. NYPD Chief of Transit Michael Kemper indicated during a briefing that shortly after a 32-year-old man entered a crowded train around 4:45 p.m.‚ a 36-year-old man confronted him. The older male was described by multiple witnesses as being "aggressive and provocative towards the 32-year-old that just got on." Footage of the incident appears to show a black male in a yellow baseball cap mutter to himself‚ then walk over to the younger man‚ threatening to beat him up. At one point‚ the apparent instigator states‚ "You think you're gonna beat up cops?" Someone off camera can be heard saying‚ "He thinks you're a migrant. He thinks you're an immigrant." "F*** your kind. F*** your race. F*** you‚" said the instigator. The younger man stands up to face his apparent aggressor and squares off for a fight‚ prompting nearby riders to begin pressing toward the far side of the train. "There's babies on here‚" one woman can be heard yelling as the men begin to circle a post with their fists at the ready. After a brief exchange of blows‚ the instigator takes the advantage‚ pinning the 32-year-old against a seat. A masked woman who was previously standing beside the 32-year-old appears to dig into her purse‚ then stab the instigator repeatedly in the back. The instigator looks over at the woman and shouts‚ "Did you stab me?" "I didn't do nothing‚" the masked woman responds. A bystander attempts to de-escalate and separate the two fighters‚ but the instigator‚ whose lower back is bleeding‚ continues accusing the woman of stabbing him. "It became physical again and at some point the 36-year-old removed a firearm from his jacket‚" said Kemper. "He then took that firearm‚ started walking toward the 32-year-old who was on the train‚ yelling at him‚ walking toward him in a menacing way‚ and it became physical again between the two." — (@) During this final physical confrontation‚ the young man managed to get a hold on the gun and allegedly fired multiple shots. Kemper indicated the firearm used in the scuffle was a "small semi-automatic‚ maybe a .32 or a .25." As melee unfolded‚ the train pulled into Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets station‚ where multiple police officers heard the shots‚ then rushed into action. The 36-year-old man was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition. The 32-year-old man was in custody as of Thursday night. Footage taken after shooting shows commuters taking cover and police on the scene with guns drawn. Unfortunately‚ I was there when it happened. @ABC7NY — (@) Forbes indicated that crime on the transit system increased 13.1% between January and March as compared with the same period last year. There were 388 incidents between Jan. 1 and March 3‚ the majority of which were grand larceny and felony assault. On March 3‚ a teenage girl was brutally attacked at the 168th Street Station and a 64-year-old man was kicked onto the subway tracks at Penn Station. Days earlier‚ Spectrum News reported a man was randomly slashed with a box cutter near Penn Station. Richard Henderson‚ a 45-year-old crossing guard and father of three‚ was gunned down in January after trying to break up a fight on the subway in Brownsville. Last month‚ Obed Beltran-Sanchez‚ a 35-year-old man with no permanent address‚ was slain and several others were injured in a rush-hour shooting resulting from a dispute between two groups of teenage thugs at the Mount Eden Avenue subway station. Judge McAfee: Fani Willis not disqualified‚ but she or her lover have to walk away from Trump's Georgia case

Judge Scott McAfee has chosen not to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from former President Donald Trump's election interference case in Georgia. However‚ she and her lover‚ special prosecutor Nathan Wade‚ will not be permitted to remain on the case together. While not the decision attorneys for Trump and his co-defendants ostensibly wanted‚ the unsuccessful effort to oust Willis has nevertheless exposed her to scrutiny outside the court‚ illuminated a history of "bad choices‚" and reinforced her characterization on the the right as a partisan antagonist in Trump's Georgia saga. McAfee's decision may also benefit him in his upcoming re-election campaign. Leftist attorney and talk-show host Robert Patillo is challenging McAfee for his seat. Not booting Willis may provide Patillo with one fewer critique to level at the Kemp appointee in the heavily Democratic county. Despite this turn of events‚ it remains highly unlikely that the trial will take place before the November presidential election. Trump pleaded not guilty to all 13 charges against him‚ including the three quashed this week. If re-elected president‚ then Trump could ask the U.S. Supreme Court to have the case delayed until he leaves office. What's the background? Willis has been the subject of intense scrutiny ever since Ashleigh Merchant‚ attorney for Trump co-defendant Michael Roman‚ filed a 127-page court motion on Jan. 8 accusing the Democratic DA of being embroiled in "an improper‚ clandestine personal relationship" with Nathan Wade‚ the then-married private attorney whom she ultimately hired to lead Trump's prosecution. The original filing stated that Willis and Wade "have violated laws regulating the use of public monies‚ suffer from irreparable conflicts of interest‚ and have violated their oaths of office under the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct and should be disqualified from prosecuting this matter." Defense attorneys representing Trump and his co-defendants have since filed additional motions to disqualify Willis‚ accusing her of tainting the case by fomenting "racial animus and prejudice against the defendants"; coordinating with elements of the Biden White House and Jan. 6 committee in a politically motivated effort to kneecap the Republican front-runner; giving Wade preferential treatment; and possibly running afoul of the federal racketeering statute. While Willis ultimately admitted to the affair‚ her defense suggested it "does not amount to a disqualifying conflict of interest." She denied or brushed off the other allegations both in court filings and personally in court. Misconduct hearings Defense attorneys reiterated during Willis' ethics hearing in the Fulton County Superior Court that she had prejudiced potential jurors against the defendants and perpetrated a "fraud on this court." One key witness cast significant doubt on whether the DA and her lover had been honest with the court about the time frame of their affair. Willis' old friend and employee‚ Robin Yeartie‚ suggested that contrary to claims made in court by Willis and Wade‚ the lovers' affair had indeed predated Wade's November 2021 appointment as special prosecutor by roughly two years. While Wade's former law partner and defense attorney Terrence Bradley had similarly suggested to Merchant in text messages that the lovers' affair predated November 2021‚ he appeared to develop selective amnesia on the stand‚ suggesting he had only been speculating about the actual timeline. Merchant noted that even the appearance of a conflict of interest was grounds for Willis' removal‚ as it would‚ at the very least‚ undermine public confidence in the prosecution. McAfee signaled agreement‚ noting that Willis could be disqualified if evidence demonstrated an "actual conflict of interest or the appearance of one‚" reported The Hill. At one point‚ Willis told Merchant‚ "I'm not on trial‚ no matter how hard you try to put me on trial." Blaze News previously reported that Craig Gillen‚ a defense attorney for David Shafer‚ accused Willis and Wade of "systematic misconduct‚" stressing that "they need to go." Defense attorneys also suggested that Wade and Willis had perjured themselves by misleading the court about their affair and when it started. The ruling Judge McAfee suggested in highly anticipated Friday ruling that as far as a possible conflict of interest is concerned‚ Wade's "manner of payment is not actionable on its own." "A SADA’s oath of office‚ in combination with the supervision theoretically provided by a neutral and detached District Attorney‚ should generally be sufficient to dispel the appearance of that improper incentive. Nor would a romantic relationship between prosecutors‚ standing alone‚ typically implicate disqualification‚ assuming neither prosecutor had the ability to pay the other as long as the relationship persisted‚" wrote McAfee. However‚ the judge noted that "in combination‚ as is alleged here by the Defendants‚ a prima facie argument arises of financial enrichment and improper motivations which inevitably and unsurprisingly invites a motion such as this." McAfee indicated that despite the luxurious trips Wade and Willis went on‚ and the appearance that the special prosecutor may have paid Willis' way‚ the "Court finds that the evidence did not establish the District Attorney's receipt of a material financial benefit as a result of her decision to hire and engage in a romantic relationship with Wade." McAfee also determined that "financial gain flowing from her relationship with Wade does not appear to have been a motivating factor" on Willis' part to indict and prosecute the case. "Without sufficient evidence that the District Attorney acquired a personal stake in the prosecution‚ or that her financial arrangements had any impact on the case‚ the Defendants' claims of an actual conflict must be denied‚" wrote McAfee. McAfee noted that there remains‚ however‚ the appearance of impropriety on Willis' part "because of specific conduct‚ and impacts more than a mere 'nebulous' public interest." The lack of a "confirmed financial split [between Willis and Wade] creates the possibility and appearance that the District Attorney benefited — albeit non-materially — from a contract whose award lay solely within her purview and policing‚" wrote the judge. McAfee presented the state with two options. Either Willis can step aside along with her whole office and refer the prosecution to the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council for reassignment‚ or Wade can withdraw. While the judge refused to disqualify Willis and did not find that she had prejudiced potential jurors against the defendants‚ he did blast her "tremendous lapse in judgment‚" the "unprofessional manner of the District Attorney's testimony during the evidentiary hearing‚" and Willis' "bad choices." Further‚ he indicated that the General Assembly‚ the Georgia State Ethics Commission‚ the State Bar of Georgia‚ the Fulton County Board of Commissioners‚ and voters in the county may "offer feedback on any unanswered questions that linger." Still in the game Permitted to remain on the case‚ Willis is expected to amend and refile the three charges McAfee quashed on Wednesday. Anthony Michael Kreis‚ a professor at the Georgia State College of Law‚ noted earlier this week‚ "Fani Willis has a habit of swinging back hard. To be clear‚ that doesn't always serve her perfectly well. ... I have a hard time believing she won't be back with perfected indictments just to prove a point." Like Blaze News? Veteran Border Patrol agent says he's never seen illegal immigration this bad

As a Border Patrol agent for more than 32 years‚ starting under Reagan and ending under Trump‚ Randy Clark thought he had seen it all. But he has never seen anything like the border crisis under the current administration. “If we do not change in our election‚ and we stay the course we’re at right now‚ we will see an open border for years‚ and those nearly 80‚000 fentanyl deaths are going to continue or rise‚” Clark tells Glenn Beck. Glenn is well aware of what the current administration is doing to the country via the open border. “They’re bending over backwards to dismiss any crime coming from illegals that are crossing over‚” Glenn says‚ before asking Clark if he’s seen any correlation between those illegal aliens and rising crime. “There sure are and not to paint migrants with a broad brush‚” Clark says‚ noting that the only person responsible for the crime is not the only one to blame. “What we see on the official side is‚ ‘Well‚ the only person responsible for that crime is the murderer.’ Well‚ you hear that because there was no gun. If there was a gun‚ well‚ then it would have been the gun‚ but it wouldn’t have been this administration‚” he adds. Clark doesn’t believe the Biden administration is going to take any responsibility for what they have “unleashed on America.” “And I say unleashed because I was in the Border Patrol when Ronald Reagan was president‚ and I left at the end of the Trump administration in August of 2020‚ right at September. This never existed. What I have seen in the last three years‚ I have no advice to give border control agents‚” Clark continues. “I cannot tell them how to cope with this‚ because we never saw it before‚” he adds. 'Go back to drama school!' Climate activists interrupt Broadway play but get yelled at by 'Sopranos' Michael Imperioli

Multiple protesters interrupted a Broadway show with messages about rising sea water and fossil fuels‚ prompting responses from both of the show's stars‚ Michael Imperioli and Jeremy Strong. The show called "An Enemy of the People‚" which sometimes involves audience participation‚ was halted by the activists causing confusion among ticket holders. Three protesters shouted slogans such as‚ "No theater on a dead planet!" with T-shirts sporting the same phrase. One activist even walked onto the stage and started a diatribe."I am very‚ very sorry to interrupt your night and this amazing performance. I am a theater artist‚" the man began. "The oceans are rising. It will swallow this city and this entire theater whole. I am putting my career on the line because we are not doing anything about this crisis. The water is coming for us!" he added‚ according to the New York Post."Sopranos" star Imperioli would be heard shouting‚ "Go back to drama school!"Strong‚ from the show "Succession‚" reportedly remained in character and said‚ "Let them speak." 3/ Activists are facing harsh sentences for nonviolent protest. Joanna Smith and Tim Martin protested at the National Gallery of Art to highlight the climate crisis. They face up to ten years in prison and fines of $500‚000. — (@) In another clip posted to X‚ Imperioli is seen walking off stage as he tells one of the protesters‚ "You are disgusting!""Liar‚ liar!" he added as he walked out of frame."Governments have failed us! They will do anything to stop you from learning the truth!" another climate alarmist yelled. Then‚ Strong interjected and started yelling back‚ "You've got to go‚ you've got to go!" which sparked applause from the audience. more from an enemy of the people tonight! \nvia: \ud83d\udcf8: oseh11 — (@) Activist group Extinction Rebellion took credit for the interruption‚ citing that "Rebels disrupted #AnEnemyOfThePeople on #Broadway. #Climate activists aren't the enemy; it's fossil fuel criminals like Exxon &; Chevron. If we don’t #EndFossilFuels now‚ there'll be #NoTheatreOnADeadPlanet."This was followed by a press release justifying their actions‚ which was written as if the group was promoting a product rather than a public nuisance."This action follows a tradition of nonviolent civil disobedience in arts and theater‚ such as Parisian students’ occupation of the Odéon theatre in 1968 — not to mention theater itself as a powerful medium for provoking social change‚" the group wrote. "Just as 'An Enemy of the People' demands people act‚ Extinction Rebellion too is demanding immediate action ... Extinction Rebellion demands the government tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency‚ halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025. These demands reflect the urgency of the existential crisis that we’re facing." — (@) Strangely‚ one activist made a point of specifically saying that she was "not protesting theater" and not "protesting the emissions that brought spectators to get here." However‚ she still claimed the interruption was the group's "last resort to draw public attention to the climate emergency."Like Blaze News? How to get Red Crystal Dust in Lightyear Frontier

How do you get Red Crystal Dust in Lightyear Frontier? From the name alone‚ you've likely assumed which common resource can eventually be turned into the one that you'll begin to need after cleaning up a few biomes. And you'd be right. But how you go about turning Red Crystals into Red Crystal Dust isn't as straightforward as you might expect. It's not a complicated process‚ but it can be a lengthy one if you're after it too early. Think you need to turn those crystals into dust as soon as you've found them? That's not the case. You might still need to know how to restore Pine Heights in Lightyear Frontier first. That'll at least give you a solid source of crystals once you actually need them. With that done‚ you'll then want to look into how to build the Merchant Landing. It's the first step in making (and spending) space money.
