Vice President Kamala Harris sat down this week to field softball questions from a friendly liberal network after spending several weeks avoiding the fourth estate. In her interview Thursday with CNN's Dana Bash, Harris was afforded an opportunity to account for her mischaracterization of President Joe Biden's competency when it still benefited her to do so. Rather than admit fault, Harris doubled down and emphasized that she has no regrets. "You were a very staunch defender of President Biden's capacity to serve another four years right after the debate," said Bash. "You insisted that President Biden is 'extraordinarily strong.'" After Biden's disastrous debate with President Donald Trump on June 27, Harris told CNN host Anderson Cooper, "Yes, there was a slow start, but it was a strong finish. And what became very clear through the course of the night is that Joe Biden is fighting on behalf of the American people. On substance, on policy, on performance, Joe Biden is extraordinarily strong." When Cooper gently pushed back, highlighting anxiety among congressional Democrats over Biden's performance, Harris responded, "People can debate on style points, but ultimately this election and who is the president of the United States has to be about substance. And the contrast is clear." Bash asked Harris on Thursday, "Given where we are now, do you have any regrets about what you told the American people?" "No. Not at all," said Harris. "I have served with President Biden for almost four years now, and I'll tell you: It's one of the greatest honors of my career. Truly." 'Joe Biden is very much alive.' "He is so smart and loyal to the American people," continued Harris. "I have spent hours upon hours with him, be it in the Oval Office or the Situation Room. He has the intelligence, the commitment, and the judgment, and disposition that I think the American people rightly deserve in their president." CNN panelists later spun Harris' long-standing mischaracterization of Biden's abilities as the result of "loyalty" and "grace." The Trump campaign, on the other hand, said of Harris' admitted lack of remorse: "She lied to the American people as she perpetuated a massive, wide-reaching fraud — until it was no longer tenable." Harris' post-debate spin earlier this summer was hardly the first time she tried to firm up public confidence in Biden's abilities. He gave critics and allies alike cause to worry in recent years with his evident difficulty completing sentences; heavy reliance on cue cards; struggles to stay upright; repetition of the same debunked anecdote nearly word for word, in short succession; confusion of the living for the dead, his sister for his wife, and the names of disparate nations; apparent need to spend roughly 40% of his presidency out of office; identification as a proud black woman; and his apparent need for former President Barack Obama as an escort. When asked in September 2023 whether Biden was too old to run again, Harris told reporters, "Joe Biden is going to be just fine," reported Reuters. "Joe Biden is going to be fine. Let me tell you something: I work with Joe Biden every day," added Harris. Harris was asked in an October 2023 "60 Minutes" interview what would happen in the event that something should "befall President Biden, and he is not able to run." Harris answered, "Joe Biden is very much alive and running for election." In February, Harris condemned special counsel Robert Hur's report about Biden's handling of sensitive classified information, which suggested that the Democratic president had a "poor memory" and was possibly too senile to charge. She called the report "gratuitous, inaccurate and inappropriate." Harris told reporters that contrary to Hur's characterization, Biden was capable — "in front of and on top of it all." Ask a friend who hates former President Donald Trump to put aside any outrage over the Jan. 6 riot and explain just what was so awful about his four years in the White House. All but the most addicted political junkies will struggle to answer. We can all remember that there were daily scandals and weekly outrages, but what were they again? There’s the silly Belleau Wood story, which was debunked by on-the-record, Trump-hating witnesses. Then there’s building the wall on the southern border, which is now among the Democrats’ campaign promises. And then maybe the “fine people” thing? Though that’s been thoroughly debunked as well. Just one more breaking news banner and one more special report has become just one more blip. No one can clearly remember because it was all so fake. Faux media outrage served fresh every hour in exchange for ratings boosts. Outlets like CNN became addicted to the high. Remember that reporter screaming at Trump about Russia (or was it Ukraine?) at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll? The ratings have never recovered since the Bad Orange Man left. The insanity began right away. Right after Trump won, reporters accused the president-elect of murdering the First Amendment for sneaking away from his press pool to grab a steak with the family. It never let up from there, ranging from the silly to the stupid. Red Christmas decorations? That’s racist. Ask NATO allies to meet treaty obligations? That’s treason. One newspaper-style writer said his music playlist was “fascist.” They’re at it again. On the third anniversary of America’s deeply embarrassing withdrawal from Afghanistan, the corporate media wants to mark the occasion by saying Trump violated the dignity of Arlington Cemetery by accepting an invitation from Gold Star parents whose children were killed in the sloppy retreat. Gold Star parents, mind you, who have never received a call from the sitting president and whose only meeting was on the tarmac, where he repeatedly checked his watch while accepting their sons and daughters. These same parents asked for the media to come. They wanted the moment “respectfully captured.” That didn’t stop the bureaucrats in the military from condemning the whole affair. You’ll notice no one complained when Biden was captured in the exact same section of the cemetery. Nor when he used footage from his visit to a U.S. military cemetery in France in a political ad against Trump (one that repeated the Belleau Wood fraud). To the corporate left-wing media, the real scandal is “Trump” and “norms.” The same thing we’ve been hearing now for eight years; the same line used to explain how global standing and prestige would return if we just got rid of Trump and replaced him with, well, the guy who turned the long-overdue withdrawal from Afghanistan into a televised global embarrassment. Examples abound. How about that time Trump went to a town that was apparently a racist town, whatever that is? Well, it turned out President Joe Biden had gone to the same little town a few years earlier, so the press dropped the story. But it doesn’t seem to be working any more. No one cares. The Biden-Harris administration’s Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday that it plans to restart one of its controversial immigration programs — referred to as CHNV — that was briefly paused after the discovery of rampant fraud.The administration’s CHNV program allows 30,000 individuals per month from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to immigrate to the United States. Beneficiaries are flown into the country and provided with a two-year work permit. 'A massive shell game.'Applicants must pass a vetting process and have a U.S.-based sponsor to be eligible for the program.A report by the Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate found fraud among the sponsors’ applications. Some sponsors used the same social security numbers, addresses, and phone numbers hundreds of times. Roughly 3,000 sponsors had filed more than 100,000 forms. The internal report found instances in which sponsors used phone numbers belonging to deceased individuals, addresses of storage units, and fake zip codes. As a result, the DHS stated that it paused the program in mid-July “out of an abundance of caution.”Approximately a month and a half later, the Biden-Harris administration has decided to restart the program, claiming that additional safeguards have been implemented.A DHS spokesperson said it will conduct “additional vetting” of sponsors, including assigning two subagencies to investigate “financial records and criminal background.”According to the spokesperson, most cases included errors or other application oversights, and only a small number of sponsors were responsible for committing fraudulent activity.House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.), a strong critic of the “clearly flawed” program, slammed the administration for continuing the immigrant flights, which he views as illegal.He accused the DHS of not “rooting out the fraud or putting adequate safeguards in place to prevent exploitation by sponsors.”“It should come as no surprise that the Biden-Harris administration has rushed to restart its unlawful CHNV mass-parole scheme, despite the clear evidence of fraud permeating the program,” Green continued. “The CHNV program, along with the use of the CBP One app at the Southwest border, has helped the president and his border czar play a massive shell game, encouraging otherwise-inadmissible aliens to simply cross at ports of entry instead of between them.”“But fundamentally, there would be no fraud to prevent if DHS simply stopped importing 30,000 inadmissible aliens every month in the first place,” Green added.A DHS spokesperson reported that Border Patrol encountered 98% fewer illegal aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela since December 2022, the New York Post reported.Green and National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd have called the Biden-Harris administration’s CHNV program a “bait and switch.”Like Blaze News?
