When Washington Spends, You’re on the Hook. You Deserve to Know For How Much.

Maybe you’ve heard that our national debt has topped $34.7 trillion. But what does that really mean for you and your family? The number is somewhat incomprehensible. To spell it out, that’s thirty-four trillion, seven hundred and twenty-five billion, eight hundred and fifty million, three hundred and twenty-three thousand, six hundred and eight dollars. That number is 14 digits long, and it grows by about $100,000 every second. If our national debt were printed in one-dollar bills, you could make 10 stacks of bills from the earth to the moon. If our national debt were in seconds, it would equate to 1,095,641 years. According to the National Geophysical Data Center, there are just over 321 million cubic miles of water in all of the Earth’s oceans. If the national debt were cubic miles of water, we could fill our oceans 107,638 times. Our debt is massive, but not enough lawmakers are concerned about the growing problem. Nor are enough Americans holding their elected officials accountable. When Washington bureaucrats talk about spending, it can be easy for them to simply forget how massive the numbers really are, and the people it impacts. As far back as the 1960s, then-Sen. Everett Dirksen, R-Ill., reportedly said, “A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you’re talking real money.” When we discuss budgets and appropriations bills, some members of the House and Senate gloss over the numerous zeros appearing at the end of the numbers, and that disregard for fiscal restraint has put our country in fiscal peril. But we are talking about real money—the American people’s money—and they deserve to know just how bad this is in the hopes that they will then demand more restraint from their elected officials. Rep. Ron Estes, R-Kansas, speaks at a Sept. 14, 2021, House Ways And Means Committee hearing on its markup of Democrats’ $3.5 trillion spending package. (Alex Wong/Getty Images) As a member of Congress, I make it a point to discuss our growing debt problem with the Kansans I represent nearly every chance I get. I’ve included it in newsletters, mailers, social media posts, and interviews because I believe everyone should know just how dire our fiscal situation is. In order to change our dangerous trajectory, we need more taxpayers to be knowledgeable about how this crisis is affecting them. In May, House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, and I introduced legislation informing taxpayers of their share of the national debt, which is now more than $200,000 per taxpayer. The Debt Per Taxpayer Information Act would show the true cost to our country by requiring the IRS to display the total federal government revenue, outlays, and deficit; the total gross federal debt; and an estimate of the debt for taxpayers on their annual W-2 tax forms. The Debt Per Taxpayer Information Act passed out of the Budget Committee 21 to 4. It’s encouraging that a bipartisan majority recognizes the value of bringing transparency to the problem and making more Americans aware of Washington’s spending, deficits, and debt—and their share of the problem. Our country is better when we have an informed electorate. Providing this additional information to taxpayers will help them understand our dire situation and, hopefully, keep their representatives accountable. We publish a variety of perspectives. Tractor Supply Company Backs Down from Woke Crap

Tractor Supply Company Backs Down from Woke Crap

While many companies, groups and individuals spent this whole month virtue signaling via their commitment to all things pride, Tractor Supply Company recently announced its breakup with woke propaganda. Filmmaker and conservative commentator Robby Starbuck has been going after Tractor Supply’s corporate office for the past three weeks for the company’s blatant progressive priorities. As a result, on Thursday, Tractor Supply released a statement that they’re shifting away from the progressive tactics they’d recently adopted and shifting back to their mission of serving “Life Out Here,” and being committed to treating “customers like family.” Tractor Supply Company was created in 1938. It specializes in providing tractor parts and homesteading equipment to farmers and other customers at fair prices. It’s got over 2,000 stores across the nation and has become a staple for the community, “serving farmers, livestock and pet owners, ranchers, part-time and hobby farmers, gardeners, homeowners and others.” Starbuck shared information about how Tractor Supply Co. voiced its commitment to wokeness. On the employee app, where staff see their schedule, benefits and goals, a huge pride flag was displayed for employees to view. The company released a video bragging about their 5-year diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goals. Starbuck also exposed the EVP and Chief of HR for the company, Melissa Kersey, who aimed to bring in “new, more progressive HR hiring practices and policies.” Needless to say, customers and employees who formerly loved the farming company boycotted. Reports indicate that after Starbuck started exposing Tractor Supply Co.’s motives and tricks, the company lost over $2 billion. Luckily, Tractor Supply Co., unlike other companies who get woke, did not want to “go broke.” “We have heard from our customers that we have disappointed them. We have taken this feedback to heart,” the letter released on Thursday noted. Tractor Supply noted five different aspects of their new strategies to hopefully appeal to their customers once again noting that it will: No longer submit data to the Human Rights Campaign Refocus our Team Member Engagement Groups on mentoring, networking and supporting the business Further focus on rural America priorities including ag education, animal welfare, veteran causes and being a good neighbor and stop sponsoring nonbusiness activities like pride festivals and voting campaigns Eliminate DEI roles and retire our current DEI goals while still ensuring a respectful environment Withdraw our carbon emission goals and focus on our land and water conservation efforts Starbuck, as he should be, was proud of his work to expose Tractor Supply Co. “This is one of many dominoes to fall to bring back an economy where the customer is king once again and woke politics are eliminated from the workplace,” he wrote on X. Tractor Supply Co. did what places like Disney, Bud Light, Target and Planet Fitness should’ve done. It realized that it was no longer appealing to customers when it put the emphasis on wokeness. What sets Tractor Supply Co. apart from other companies, however, is that it listened to its customers and redirected its focus.

ABC Throws Joe Life Preserver: He Wasn’t Great, But Trump Was Worse!

On Friday morning after the presidential debate, ABC’s Good Morning America claimed that former President Donald Trump made more mistakes than President Joe Biden. One of the biggest focuses in this debate was if Biden was mentally fit to serve another four years; however, he was not able to meet this hope Thursday night. Co-host and former Clinton official George Stephanopoulos admitted that “from the start, Joe Biden struggled to answer questions”, but unsurprisingly added that “Trump launched a series of lies and misleading attacks.” He stated that “key figures from across the [democratic] party [are] talking about replacing Biden on the ticket.”     Congressional correspondent Rachel Scott observed that, following Biden’s performance, his party is now “scrambling” as they try to figure out what to do next. “This morning panic and concern within the democratic party after this debate performance from President Biden” she shared. Scott explained that from the beginning of the debate, Biden spoke with a “raspy voice” and “at times stumbling and trailing off” even acknowledging that he was “unable to finish his thoughts.” Abortion, one of the key issues for the Biden campaign, was even a topic that the President didn’t speak clearly about. Scott then professed that Trump “deflected and he would not say whether he would accept the results of the November election.” She then played a clip of Trump clearly stating, “If it's a fair and legal and good election, absolutely. I would have much rather accepted these, but the fraud and everything else was ridiculous.” Surprisingly, Scott exclaimed “even his own Vice President acknowledging he had a rough go.” A clip was then played of Kamala Harris stuttering as she admitted, “Listen, he -- it did not get off to a strong start in that debate” she attempted to support Biden by adding on “but he had a strong finish.” Scott concluded by declaring that “Trump did make several false and misleading claims, many of which went unchecked or challenged on that debate stage.” Chief Washington correspondent and three-time anti-Trump author Jonathan Karl wanted to take a jab at Trump saying it “was a rapid fire lie after lie, untruth after untruth.” He continued to rant saying Trump had “ridiculous” claims like how “Nancy Pelosi turned down his effort on January 6 to send 10,000 National Guard troops to the Capitol” which was proven to be true from a video leaked a few weeks ago. Karl finished explaining “normally, I would say no way he’s the sitting president” but professed that “Democrats know the stakes just couldn’t be higher.” His final push for the Biden campaign was the idea that “If Biden cannot defeat Donald Trump, you have a return to what Democrats say is an absolute disaster crisis for the country and return of Donald Trump to the White House.” Click "Expand" to view the transcript: ABC Good Morning America 6/28/2024 4:02:14 AM EDT GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: From the start, Joe Biden struggled to answer questions, reinforcing questions about his age. Trump launched a series of lies and misleading attacks but he faced fact checking and did it in a forceful manner. By the time the 90 minutes were up, the Trump beat about Bidens age from Democrats had key figures from across the party talking about replacing Biden on the ticket. Rachel Scott starts us off from Atlanta. Good morning, Rachel. RACHEL SCOTT: George, good morning to you. This was the biggest political stage yet of the 2024 campaign and Democrats are really looking to President Biden to put to rest those questions and concerns about his age. But this morning his performance is only fueling more and sending his party scrambling. This morning panic and concern within the democratic party after this debate performance from president Biden. [Cut to Biden clip] RACHEL SCOTT: From the start of the debate, the president speaking with a raspy voice, at times stumbling and trailing off, unable to finish his thought. Even on the issues at the heart of his campaign like abortion rights. [Cut to Biden clip] Rachel Scott: The Biden campaign telling reporters the president, who is 81 years old, had a cold, something they did not mention until an hour into the debate. Trump questioning Biden's mental fitness. [Cut to Trump clip] 7:15:27 SCOTT: But when pressed on his actions, Trump deflected and he would not say whether he would accept the results of the November election. [Cut to Trump clip] DONALD TRUMP: If it's a fair and legal and good election, absolutely. I would have much rather accepted these, but the fraud and everything else was ridiculous. SCOTT: Trump pushed several false claims from insisting there was no terror during his administration, to claiming that every legal scholar in the world supported overturning Roe v. Wade. 7:16:30 SCOTT: The most consequential night of the campaign ended with only more questions. Even his own Vice President acknowledging he had a rough go. [Cut to Kamala Clip] KAMALA HARRIS: Listen, it did not get off to a strong start in that debate but he had a strong finish. SCOTT: Donald Trump did make several false and misleading claims, many of which went unchecked or challenged on that debate stage even by President Biden. This morning many Democrats calling that a missed opportunity. The president did make a late night stop at a Waffle House. He was asked directly about his debate performance. He said he had no concerns, but that is not what we are hearing from Democrats this morning, George. 7:10:30 JONATHAN KARL (CHIEF WASHINGTON CORRESPONDENT): Look Trump was remarkably disciplined for Donald Trump. They believe he did very well. He didn't seem unhinged. But, yes, there was a rapid fire lie after lie untruth after untruth and the real frustration among so many Democrats was that there was nothing to effectively push back. I mean, he said things that were, frankly, you know, ridiculous. He said everybody wanted Roe v Wade overturned. He said that Nancy Pelosi turned down his effort on January 6th to send 10,000 National Guard troops to the Capitol. This stuff is just completely false. 7:11:16 KARL: Look I really think it's quite possible. Look normally I would say no way, he's the sitting president. A weak debate performance there's no way you can replace him but democrats know the stakes just couldn't be higher. If Biden cannot defeat Donald Trump you have a return to what Democrats say is an absolute disaster crisis for the country and return of Donald Trump to the White House. (...)

Watch: Batboy saves LA Dodgers' $700M man Shohei Ohtani from line drive to the head in dugout

Superstar pitcher Shohei Ohtani was likely saved from a stray foul ball to the head by the Los Angeles Dodgers' batboy while in the dugout. During a game against the Chicago White Sox, the Dodgers' no. 1 player was in the dugout wearing his batting helmet but seemingly avoided a shot to the face by a ball traveling at high speeds toward him.Without hesitating, the Dodgers' batboy caught the high-velocity ball by his shoulder with his bare hands as Ohtani lunged out of the way behind him. After looking around briefly, the batboy calmly placed the ball behind him and then seemed to soak in the moment as others from the organization applauded.A trainer on the bench appeared to be in shock with his mouth still agape as Ohtani walked back to thank the batboy. The Dodgers' official X account praised the equipment helper named Javi for having a well-above-average reaction speed."Javi's reaction speed saved Sho," the team wrote. The Dodgers would beat the White Sox 4-0, with Ohtani continuing another spectacular season hitting his 25th home run but taking just two at-bats. The Japanese slugger is in the top five in the MLB in all of the four major batting categories. Although he is also typically one of the best pitchers in the major leagues, he hasn't pitched a game in 2024 due to an ongoing elbow injury. — (@) The team would be best to avoid any more injuries as MVP-favorite Mookie Betts was recently injured with a bone fracture in his hand after being hit by a pitch.Betts is currently on a 12-year, $365 million contract that will pay a salary in the double-digit millions until he is 51 years old.Ohtani, on the other hand, will make just $2 million per year until the end of 2033 with one massive catch; his contract is actually worth $700 million. That means when his contract ends and he is possibly retired in 2034 at the age of 39, he will get a massive $68 million per year. The contract caused a lot of controversy over the fact that Ohtani will likely relocate at that time to a jurisdiction that doesn't have as nearly as high of an income tax as California does. Ohtani will be paid by the Dodgers until 2043 when he is 48 years old.The star was recently caught up in a gambling scandal when his interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, was allegedly busted by feds for stealing millions of dollars from Ohtani to pay off debts he incurred by wagering on sports with an illegal bookie. Mizuhara pled guilty in early June 2024.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
