Senate Confirms Gabbard as Intel Chief

The Senate confirmed Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence in a 52 to 48 vote on Wednesday. Gabbard, who served four terms in the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2021 as a Democrat but subsequently became an independent and then a Republican, was approved on a near-party-line vote. All 45 Democrats and the two nominal independents who caucus with them were joined by Sen Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in voting against her nomination. As director of national intelligence, Gabbard will oversee 17 agencies in the intelligence community, include the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and National Security Agency. Gabbard had faced tough confirmation hearing questioning from some Democratic senators. They alleged that Gabbard, a lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard who had passed several FBI background checks, was unduly sympathetic to foreign powers. At her public hearing, Gabbard had promised “to end the weaponization and politicization of the intelligence community.” She argued that trust in the intelligence community was at an all-time low and traced that failure in confidence to the invasion of Iraq, which in 2017 she called “a counterproductive regime war.” Gabbard’s service in the Army included time in Iraq from 2004 to 2005.  Gabbard promised to bring accountability to the intelligence-gathering services of the United States, noting that members of Congress had conveyed to her a lack of responsiveness from the community to requests for information. Gabbard also criticized the FBI’s espionage of Trump campaign official Carter Page and mass government surveillance.  “President Trump’s reelection is a clear mandate from the American people to break this cycle of failure, end the weaponization and politicization of the intelligence community, and begin to restore trust in those who’ve been charged with the critical task of securing our nation,” Gabbard told the Senate Intelligence Committee. For Gabbard, serving as Trump’s intelligence chief is quite a turn of events. She had previously been the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2013 and 2016 and ran to become the Democratic Party’s nominee for president in 2020. Gabbard was also the first Samoa-native and Hindu member of Congress. The post Senate Confirms Gabbard as Intel Chief appeared first on The Daily Signal.

8 Venezuelan nationals with ties to vicious gang charged in sex trafficking of illegal aliens at Tennessee motels

The U.S. attorney general's office charged eight Venezuelan nationals for allegedly coercing illegal aliens into sex trafficking at several motels in Tennessee over two years. The press release named the eight defendants, who ranged in age from 22 to 51 years old, and said two of them were members of the vicious Tren de Aragua gang. The women pushed into sex trafficking were allegedly told they needed to pay off their debt for being brought into the U.S. Officials said that 51-year-old Yilibeth Del Carmen Rivero-De Caldera and her 35-year-old son Klevier Daniel Mota Rivero would promise women in Central and South America that they could have a better life in the U.S. After facilitating their arrival in Tennessee, the women would be forced into prostitution. The defendants allegedly "utilized online commercial sex websites to post advertisements for the victims" and then sent commercial sex buyers to motels in Nashville and Murfreesboro. The defendants would collect the proceeds from the prostitution. The eight Venezuelans entered the U.S. illegally, according to officials. The women pushed into sex trafficking were allegedly told they needed to pay off their debt for being brought into the U.S., but those debts were made so high that they could never pay them off. The trafficking scheme allegedly ran from 2022 until 2024. “We are coming after transnational criminal organizations like TDA, but this case shows that we will also do whatever it takes to stop those who would traffic women and girls no matter who is behind their suffering," said acting U.S. Attorney Robert E. McGuire. Defendants charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking could face life in prison if convicted. A former gang member in Chicago warned that black gangs would likely push back against the growing threat from Tren de Aragua gang members and spark a costly street war. Mug shots of the arrested suspects can be viewed in the news video from WZTV-TV on YouTube. Like Blaze News? Foreign aid or foreign influence? USAID’s true purpose unveiled

Foreign aid or foreign influence? USAID’s true purpose unveiled

The U.S. Agency for International Development is making headlines for waste, fraud, and abuse. While those issues are real, they are not accidental. The agency has been functioning exactly as intended. USAID was deliberately designed as a tool of statecraft, funneling billions of taxpayer dollars to nongovernmental organizations both domestically and internationally. Some of these funds ended up benefiting Hamas in Gaza through intermediaries, while other grants supported media organizations that promoted narratives favorable to those in power. If Americans are serious about reclaiming their government, they must also be serious about defining what, if anything, should replace these failed institutions. This created a closed propaganda loop. USAID not only facilitated regime change abroad but also fueled misinformation at home, feeding misleading reports to American citizens and members of Congress. The agency served a dual purpose: reinforcing U.S. influence while strategically undermining adversaries. It became a relic of an America that prioritized economic interests over democratic ideals. The real issue isn’t just that USAID was riddled with corruption. The deeper problem is that, for decades, the post-World War II global order relied on USAID as a tool of American hegemony — projecting power and maintaining influence. As we rightly rip out the once-vital organs of that system, our focus should be on what our government and our place in the world look like on the other side. USAID is just one example. Many U.S. agencies are not only inefficient bureaucracies but also obsolete institutions that likely never should have existed. A forensic audit is long overdue. We must examine what was done, learn from it, and then discard many of these agencies as historical relics. This is not just reform — it is the active dismantling of the post-World War II global order. If Americans are serious about reclaiming their government, they must also be serious about defining what, if anything, should replace these failed institutions. Any debate that does not focus on maintaining economic strength and strategic stability in a world where we no longer pull the strings is missing the real opportunity — and the real point. This debate must be grounded in truth and first principles. But how many Americans can articulate the fundamental truths on which this nation was founded? Do we even have time for the civics lesson we so desperately need? Serious questions demand serious answers, yet they are being ignored in favor of easier discussions about “fraud” and “inefficiency.” It is easy to get angry about wasted tax dollars, and that anger can serve as a catalyst for greater awareness. But if the people truly want a say, they must move faster. Time stops for no one, and nature abhors a vacuum. Donald Trump was elected with a mandate to return power to the people. He is doing his part. Are we ready to do ours? Instead of clinging to outdated statecraft, America should seize this moment for renewal. Propping up a broken system only delays the inevitable. The real task is to build a future rooted in liberty, decentralization, and a recognition that power belongs to the people as sovereign individuals. The first step is understanding how the world has operated and acknowledging that dominance through covert manipulation and economic coercion is unsustainable. We have reached the end of that path. If America is to remain a leader, it must redefine strength — not as global micromanagement, but as self-sufficiency, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the liberty of its people. Yes, our people. America must rebuild at home first. That means investing in domestic industries instead of outsourcing them, fostering innovation rather than relying on financial engineering, and decentralizing power instead of concentrating it in bureaucratic agencies that function as little more than tools of control. We must embrace a future where influence is earned through excellence — not imposed through foreign aid and intervention. USAID is just the tip of the iceberg. President Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency are on a direct collision course with the entrenched power structures of the uniparty. They are ready for the fight. Are we? The dissolution of American hegemony must come with a renewed commitment to civic engagement, grounded in truth and first principles.

Airplane passenger arrested after allegedly banging on cockpit door and threatening captain. But that's just for starters.

An airplane passenger from New Jersey was arrested Sunday after allegedly banging on the cockpit door, threatening the captain, and harassing and threatening flight attendants, crew members, and other passengers, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey announced Monday.Officials said that shortly after the flight took off from Miami on Sunday, Luis A. Vaquero, 27, of Passaic County, began threatening and harassing passengers — including making threats of physical violence toward a disabled minor and mocking a group of Jewish passengers.'I wanna see that f**kin’ captain! Come outside, you bitch-ass [N-word]!'Officials added that Vaquero also threatened a flight crew member who declined to serve him alcohol after the beverage service window closed, telling her, “You better watch out, s**t’s gonna happen to you."Upon landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, flight attendants alerted law enforcement, officials said. After hearing the announcement that the plane was awaiting the arrival of law enforcement, Vaquero forced his way to the front of the plane and began banging on the flight deck door, demanding, “I need the pilot to come outside!” officials said. When a flight attendant attempted to intervene, Vaquero yelled, “I will really break your f**kin’ jaw, [N-word]!” officials said.Vaquero also yelled, “I wanna see that f**kin’ captain! Come outside, you bitch-ass [N-word]!” officials said. When the captain emerged, Vaquero continued threatening the captain — while six inches from his face — until law enforcement intervened and escorted him off the flight, officials said.Vaquero was charged by complaint in Newark federal court with one count of interference with flight crew members and attendants by assault or intimidation, officials said, adding that he was then released. The charge of interfering with flight crew members and attendants carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, officials said.Acting Special Agent in Charge Terence G. Reilly called it "a terrifying attack and attempted breach of the flight deck" and said that "the harrowing flight and other similar incidents on board airplanes recently are creating tension and fear for fliers and crew members. FBI Newark has a warning for those who think it may not be a big deal — they're breaking federal law, and they will be brought to justice.”Like Blaze News?
