Once again continuing to report out the sudden firing of the well-respected Catherine Herridge from CBS News‚ the New York Post’s Alexandra Steigrad reported late Tuesday afternoon that Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews‚ the new and extremely woke CBS News president‚ was selected as one of “13 honorees at the 33rd annual First Amendment Awards” set for March 9 in D.C. by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). This was despite the fact that‚ as Steigrad noted‚ Ciprian-Matthews had clashed with Herridge in the past due to her no-nonsense‚ intrepid reporting (i.e. doing actual journalism‚ as opposed to vapid‚ far-left propaganda) and “signed off on” Herridge’s ouster as part of layoffs by parent company Paramount Global. As he has throughout the Herridge saga (such as here and here)‚ Media Research Center Founder and President Brent Bozell weighed in on X: Can't make this up. CBS News fires @CBS_Herridge‚ then steals her notes‚ and in disgrace is forced to return them. A week later‚ the president of @CBSNews who signed off on that theft receives an industry free speech award. https://t.co/km5O8sVVKd — Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 28‚ 2024 The RTDNA — which doubles as another event for liberal journalists and the people they’re supposed to hold to account but instead cuddle with — will also honor one such person they link arms with instead of hold accountable: far-left Congressman Jamie Raskin (D-MD). In 2018‚ the RTDNA dinner honored then-Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd‚ who used the speech to argue being “credible and honest” and possessing “transparency” represented “the new objectivity” in journalism.  That was comical since Todd repeatedly refused to disclose his progressive political strategist wife’s political donations to politicians he would interivew‚ including Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA). Steigrad also used the piece to reiterate the timing of Herridge’s axing came as she continues to face legal peril for a years-old story from her Fox News days with a U.S. District Court judge demanding she divulge her stories for a story “about a federal probe into a Chinese American scientist.” CBS tried to save face‚ arguing the layoffs do “not in any way reflect on or diminish Ingrid’s well-deserved and outstanding journalistic record” that goes back “decades...upholding the highest values of journalism.” As for laying off Herridge‚ the CBS rep insisted she “was one of more than 700 people impacted on Feb. 13 at Paramount and dozens more from other news organizations enduring mass layoffs in Washington in the last few months.” Steigrad had more on how Ciprian-Matthews wasn’t keen on Herridge and never came to the defense of the award-winning correspondent when she was verbally attacked in a 2021 meeting by then-CBS colleague and fellow correspondent‚ Jeff Pegues (click “expand”): She also clashed with Ciprian-Matthews‚ a sharp-elbowed executive who was investigated in 2021 over favoritism and discriminatory hiring and management practices‚ as revealed by The Post in January. Indeed‚ sources speculated that Herridge’s firing could be retaliatory‚ as the correspondent sparked the 2021 investigation against Ciprian-Matthews. It began when correspondent Jeff Pegues allegedly went on a 20-minute rant‚ in which he dressed down a senior correspondent — whose identity was recently revealed as Herridge by Puck News. A source told The Post at the time‚ that Ciprian-Matthews‚ who was in the meeting‚ did not initially report the incident and attempted to “blame” Herridge for Pegues’ diatribe when it was finally brought to the attention of HR. The incident opened a Pandora’s Box‚ as allegations that Ciprian-Matthews had protected Pegues and other diverse correspondents — to the detriment of primarily white‚ female correspondents — flooded the desk of Jennifer Gordon‚ an executive vice president of employee relations at Paramount Global who conducted the investigation. The probe found that Pegues’ behavior was unprofessional‚ but months later‚ Ciprian-Matthews supported his promotion to Chief National Affairs and Justice Correspondent. Despite being sheltered to presumably further some poisonous diversity‚ equity‚ and exclusion (DEI) agenda‚ Pegues was another casualty of the layoffs.

An illegal alien from El Salvador has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the Feb. 8 slaying of a 2-year-old Maryland boy‚ Jeremy Poou-Caceres‚ and the grievous wounding of the boy's mother. Prior to allegedly killing the child‚ Salvadoran national Nilson Granados-Trejo was twice arrested and twice freed in a nearby sanctuary county despite an outstanding removal order and detainer requests from immigration officials. Illegally imported turf wars According to the Prince George's County Police Department‚ a detective working in the area of the 1400 block of Kanawha Street in Langley Park heard gunfire and attempted to locate the source. What the detective ultimately found was a dying toddler beside his wounded mother. Jeremy Poou-Caceres was taken to a hospital‚ where he died shortly thereafter. His 17-year-old mother‚ apparently struck in the leg‚ survived the attack and was released from the hospital days later. Police indicated that the mother and child were not the intended targets. A witness reportedly saw two of the suspected shooters take shots at another group of thugs during a dispute over drug territory‚ striking Jeremy and his mother. The boy's mother‚ whose identity has been concealed in some reports because she is a teen victim and a witness‚ claimed she was pushing her son in a stroller down Kanawha street when two groups of thugs began shooting‚ reported WRC-TV. "I grabbed my son and tried to save my son. That was all I could think about‚" said the bereaved mother. The suspects The PGPD initially identified four suspects including a 15-year-old male from Takoma Park and a 16-year-old male from Hyattsville‚ both of whom have been charged as adults. Police also arrested Israel Fuentes Jr. and Johnny Alejandro Turcios‚ 28. The PGPD later arrested 25-year-old Nilson Granados-Trejo‚ an illegal alien from El Salvador‚ on Feb. 23. Like the others‚ Granados-Trejo has been charged with first- and second-degree murder. Police also charged him with two counts of first-degree assault‚ second-degree assault‚ and attempted murder. Granados-Trejo is being held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status. Investigators were able to track down the suspects thanks in part to surveillance video taken at a convenience store in Silver Spring. The video taken around 9:45 p.m. the day before the shooting clearly shows a number of the men who were riding around in the previously stolen Ford Explorer that ultimately served as the shooters' getaway vehicle. An AK-47-style rifle was reportedly found inside the car after it was ditched by the suspects. Bloody sanctuary James Covington‚ a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations Baltimore‚ confirmed to WTTG-TV that Nilson Granados-Trejo is in the country illegally and hails from El Salvador. In November 2022‚ a Department of Justice immigration judge in Newark‚ New Jersey‚ reportedly ordered the the future murder suspect's deportation. It clearly did not take. Granados-Trejo was arrested on March 21‚ 2023‚ and charged with theft by the Montgomery County Police Department. According to the Center for Immigration Studies‚ Montgomery County‚ like Prince George's County‚ is a sanctuary for illegal aliens. ICE reportedly filed a immigration detainer for Granados-Trejo but indicated that the Montgomery County Detention Center refused to honor the detainer. Granados-Trejo was cut loose on March 27‚ 2023. It was not long until Granados-Trejo found himself once more in MCPD custody. He was arrested on Sept. 26‚ 2023‚ for alleged theft‚ obstruction‚ and hindering. Once again‚ ICE reportedly lodged an immigration detainer‚ and once again the MCDC cut him loose. Several months after his Oct. 12‚ 2023‚ release from the MCDC‚ Granados-Trejo ended up in PGPD custody for allegedly murdering a child. Covington indicated ERO Baltimore lodged an immigration detainer with the Prince George's County Detention Center against Granados-Trejo on Feb. 27. A preventable trend Multitudes of Americans have been subjected to violence by illegal aliens in recent years. There have been a number of particularly egregious instances in recent days and weeks. The lifeless and brutalized remains of Laken Hope Riley‚ a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student‚ were found at the University of Georgia intramural fields on Thursday. Ibarra was eligible for deportation in 2023 after being accused in Queens‚ New York‚ of felony child endangerment as well as shoplifting in Georgia‚ reported the New York Post. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) blasted President Joe Biden in a letter Saturday‚ stating‚ "More than nine million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since you took office – with an additional‚ unknown number of migrants who were not detained and processed – while at least 58 people on the terror watchlist have been encountered between ports of entry this fiscal year alone." "While the dangers of this crisis have never been theoretical‚ this week our state witnessed a devastating tragedy‚" added Kemp. Authorities in Louisiana announced Tuesday that they had apprehended an illegal alien from Honduras suspected of raping and assaulting a little girl. Angel Matias Castellanos-Orellana was arrested for armed robbery‚ aggravated battery‚ first-degree rape‚ and aggravated assault. "Illegal immigrants continue to be a challenge to local law enforcement for many reasons‚" Kenner Police Department Chief Keith Conley underscored in his announcement of the arrest. Part of my job is to inform you about the direction we are headed and how fast are we are headed there. Let me give you three mile markers that are gravely concerning. Last week on my radio show‚ I told you that Soros Fund Management‚ run by billionaire George Soros and his son‚ Alex‚ is on the verge of taking control of Audacy. Audacy is the second-largest broadcaster in America. Only iHeartRadio owns more. The left is going to take the whole industry through public-private partnerships‚ and it's going to succeed because our billionaires do nothing. iHeart Radio has the Premiere Radio networks. I've worked for this company in one way or another since 1989. It is my partner with my radio program‚ and the company has always been very supportive. If it weren't for this company‚ my show wouldn’t be heard anywhere. Thank God iHeart is the only broadcaster right now not under attack. The problem began when Audacy amassed $1.9 billion in debt and filed for bankruptcy protection last year. Now Soros is taking on the fund‚ and the his company will be the largest shareholder once the bankruptcy proceedings conclude. His company is buying up and dismantling radio. Last year‚ Soros bought 50 Spanish-language radio stations. Gee‚ isn’t that interesting? Now he's buying up the second-largest broadcaster in America. Audacy owns 220 stations‚ some of the biggest talk news stations in the country. George Soros has spent more than $21 billion over the last few decades. He spent $1.3 billion in 2022 alone. Most of that cash went to left-wing causes‚ including Media Matters‚ Planned Parenthood‚ and the Sunrise Movement. He is the guy who has installed radical prosecutors and radical attorneys general all over the country‚ and now he’s buying up talk radio. Why would you do that? Why would you buy all those broadcasters? It seems like it’s a failing industry‚ right? It isn’t. About 80% of Americans still listen to radio. That statistic is incredible. And now the second-largest broadcaster is going to be in the hands of the Soros family. That's the first mile marker. Next is Cumulus. Cumulus used to be the ABC Radio Network‚ and at one point‚ it was America’s largest radio network. Now it is the third-largest. Cumulus is facing a takeover from an investor based in Singapore. As a part of the process of its bankruptcy‚ the company has asked for — and received — permission from the Federal Communications Commission to become as much as “100% foreign-owned.” So the third-largest broadcaster in the United States is about to go to a Singapore holding company. How does this bid for America? That’s the second mile marker. But don't worry‚ it gets even better for radio. Last week‚ Commissioner Brendan Carr announced that the FCC would require every broadcaster in the United States to start posting a race and gender scorecard that breaks down the demographics of its workforce. Activists lobbied for this because they want to see businesses pressured into hiring people based on their race and gender. Courts have already overturned the FCC twice for pressuring broadcasters to make hiring decisions in violation of the Constitution. I dissent. I don’t care what your gender is. I don't care who you sleep with. I don’t care what color you are. I really don’t. I want to know what’s inside your head. I want to know how you think. Can you bring something different to the table that I don’t bring? Can you fit what your different thinking is into what I'm trying to accomplish? If you can‚ great! That’s how I hire. And now we need to start hiring based on gender and race and everything that should not define a person. Let me give you the last mile marker. CBS News just threw out Catherine Herridge. I worked with Herridge at Fox News. We don’t agree on everything all the time‚ but without a doubt‚ she’s a highly credible journalist. She was one of 800 people‚ including 20 journalists‚ who were recently let go. What’s the big deal? CBS points to financial pressures. But could it be that Herridge‚ as the New York Post describes her‚ is a “constant thorn in the side of the Biden administration”? Could it be that actual journalists aren’t welcomed at CBS any more?Mainstream media is collapsing. When I was at the height of Fox News‚ I said‚ "We have to get out of here." Everybody thought I was crazy because everyone worked their whole lives to get there. But I said the whole thing was going to burn itself down. And now here we are. I also said at that time that if you're working for mainstream media during its collapse and you survive‚ you’ll then be working for the government. All of these people will get bailed out by the federal government. I remember sitting in so many meetings with big companies that were trying to figure out how to solve the media problem. At the time we were doing it better than anybody else‚ but we had no margin of error. It was all on me. I remember sitting in those meetings and saying to these business leaders‚ "Your numbers don't make sense. I’m sorry‚ guys. I’m not an accountant. I’m not a good businessman. But I can look at this and I can see this isn’t going to work." It was all hype. Now all that hype is over‚ and it’s all falling apart. What remains of the mainstream media is falling apart. But while the war has long been raging against the mainstream media‚ it’s been all quiet for quite some time on the Western front of talk radio. There haven’t been any attacks on talk radio except being squished with the rise of digital media. Until now. The left is going to take the whole industry through public-private partnerships‚ and it's going to succeed because our billionaires do nothing. Honest to God‚ our billionaires who believe in America do nothing to protect and safeguard our freedoms that they claim to love.
