Charlie Kirk, The Perfect Embodiment Of Salt And Light

Words will never be able to convey how devastated we are that Charlie Kirk was taken from us far too soon. I had the honor and privilege of not just knowing Charlie professionally as a fellow warrior in the conservative movement, but as a close friend and my most influential mentor for the past eight years. All of you know Charlie for what you saw on social media and television — a fierce fighter with strong convictions who deeply loved our country and fearlessly advocated for his vision for a stronger future. I spent a lot of time with this Charlie — speaking on college campuses and facing the crowds of protesters with a smile on our faces, staying up into all hours of the night live-streaming election coverage, and breaking the news of the day on The Charlie Kirk Show. What most of you never saw, what God blessed me with the opportunity to witness, was the Charlie who lived off-screen. The young man who lived for a Chicago Cubs game and watched them in green rooms before speeches all over the country. The person who recorded silly videos with my siblings at the endless political conferences we attended over the years. The guy who would spar with me over TikTok’s necessity to save the country as I pleaded with him to finally make an account (and thank God he did). The friend who personally wrote my recommendation letter for my job application for a position at the White House. The husband who inspired me to get serious about the type of man I wanted to marry. The father who’d sing with his beautiful wife and children on FaceTime while traveling away from home, promising that daddy would be home soon. The enthusiastic big-brother-figure who spent an hour ignoring his fans at Mar-a-Lago while dressed to the nines to rattle off parenting advice to my husband and me as we joyfully shared the news of our pregnancy last winter. The servant leader who sought wisdom from God above all else, and deeply yearned for the closest relationship to Christ he could foster. Today, we are all shocked, devastated, angry, and deeply filled with sorrow — but I unexpectedly also find a glimmer of joy after spending the day with Charlie last week, sharing the stage at a church in central California. We’d been briefed a few days before that there’d be some protesters outside, so extra security was called in, and we laughed about how this felt like old times when I was a student at Colorado State and he came to campus, making quite a buzz in the process. We dined with the organizers of the event, and Charlie graciously gestured for me to join him in a Q&A with a smaller group of donors before the main speeches, who, fascinatingly, above all else, had questions about the true battle of good and evil waging in our time and the role people of faith must take to continue spreading the light of the gospel. WATCH: The Isabel Brown Show We get these questions a lot, but something felt different about this event. Charlie (as always) spoke with such powerful moral clarity, but I found myself locked in on every word he said as if I was hearing it for the first time. He radiated wisdom from the Holy Spirit in a way that I had never witnessed, publicly or privately, and it was inspiring to behold. Moments later, we were whisked into separate green rooms before the actual event began on stage with a crowd of about 2,500 people. I poked my head in to wave to Charlie and his team, and he immediately waved me over to sit down and hang out for about an hour before we delivered our speeches. Normally, we’d talk about politics and what’s happening in the media, but Charlie only wanted to talk about God and the Church. For about an hour, we jovially debated on matters of theology and spoke about, of all things, heaven. Again, I was so touched by his zeal for his faith that was always pervasive in his life, but seemed especially ignited on this particular day. I left to give my speech, and Charlie said, “Turn the volume up on that monitor! I want to hear the great Isabel speak!!” To which I giggled, and he told me to break a leg. After I spoke for about 20 minutes, Charlie took the stage, and again captivated the audience in a way I’ve perhaps never seen. He spoke not just about the importance of fighting for our country, but for humanity to once and for all defeat evil. For us to show up and fight in the spiritual warfare we don’t see with our own two eyes, but is waging on constantly all around us. For several minutes, he spoke to our calling from Christ to be “Salt and Light:” a calling misunderstood by many, but boils down to one action — to transform its surroundings. He pleaded with the audience, humbly and earnestly, that none of us can be in this fight alone. Nor can we expect someone else to do the fighting for us. Instead, we have to show up, on offense, ready to transform culture and society to be rooted in what is good and true and beautiful. We have to be salt and light. You could hear a pin drop in the room, and the thunderous applause after he was done speaking was deafening. To me, Charlie Kirk will always be the perfect embodiment of salt and light. Charlie always remembered his friends — not just when it was convenient for him, but he constantly went out of his way to serve others in the small ways you’ll never hear about in the media. He was a fierce friend and a trusted confidant to all who knew him, humbly putting others before himself whenever he could. But he was also a shining beacon. He inspired a nation and an entire generation to seek and speak the truth, consequences be damned. He knew it was his vocation to inspire others with hope to keep fighting for goodness and for God in a society demanding we sit down and shut up and lose that hope. He transformed the world. And we will never be the same without him. It’s not an exaggeration to say I owe everything to Charlie. I owe my career to him, I owe my family to him — it was because of Charlie I met my husband at a TPUSA conference, and my daughter wouldn’t exist otherwise. And, in many ways, I owe my faith to him as I sat in a front row seat, marveling at this extraordinary young man’s quest for the Truth of God day in and day out for nearly a decade of my life. Thinking back to last week, I am so moved by the fact that Charlie spent so much of his quiet free time in the green room with me, talking about faith and heaven. As people of faith, we know that death is a devastating loss, especially when someone so pure was robbed of life so violently and prematurely. But I rejoice in prayer today, even through tears, knowing that today Charlie is more alive than we are in the fullness of eternal life with his Savior and his anchor in heaven. My heart today is with his beautiful wife and children, and I ask that you pray for them earnestly. Our hearts are shattered, but we promise to keep showing up tomorrow to be salt and light. We love you, Charlie. Pray for us while we wait and yearn to join you in eternal life. “If you believe in something, you need to have the courage to fight for those ideas – not run away from them or try and silence them.” — @charliekirk11

Unhinged Dem Lawmaker Compares Slain Charlie Kirk To Charlotte Train Murderer

Democratic West Virginia State Rep. Anitra L. Hamilton seemed to accuse Turning Point USA Charlie Kirk of racism  and domestic terrorism on social media Thursday — less than 24 hours after his assassination — also appearing to compare him to the man who recently stabbed a Ukrainian refugee to death on a train. ‘Mainstream’ Liberal Media Covered Themselves in Shame After Kirk’s Assassination

The immediate response of many “mainstream” liberal journalists to the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk demonstrates why so many Americans loathe the corporate media. Many of the responses to Kirk’s killing on social websites like TikTok and Bluesky have been celebratory and downright evil. BlueSky's reputation for being more wholesome and less nasty than X will not survive this day. pic.twitter.com/hTTuVONme5— Toby Young (@toadmeister) September 11, 2025 It’s ironic in a certain way that Bluesky had become such a concentrated den of hate and outrage given that the platform was allegedly created because X had backed away from content moderation. The truth is what they really wanted was just a safe space for libs. They wanted a world carefully cultivated like a college campus where opinions range from the Left to Left-er and anyone who challenges their views with logic, like Charlie Kirk, is silenced when basic liberal assumptions are questioned. But as vicious as the hordes of hateful, random leftists have been on social media, it’s the mainstream outlets that behaved most shamefully when news of Kirk’s shooting broke. They revealed how much contempt they truly have for their fellow citizens who disagree with them. As news broke about the shooting, MSNBC political analyst Matthew Down appeared on Katy Tur’s program and said that Kirk was perhaps shot by one of his own supporters in “celebration.” Dowd, a Never Trump former Republican who was the chief strategist on President George W. Bush’s 2004 election campaign, insinuated that it was Kirk’s fault that he got shot because of his “hate speech.” “You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have, and then saying these awful words, and then not expect awful actions to take place,” Dowd said. I think it’s worth noting that this man was once a leading apparatchik in the Republican Party who clearly has a pathological contempt for conservatives. Dowd was rightly fired for his comments by MSNBC. “During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive, and unacceptable. We apologize for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise,” MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler said in a statement on MSNBC’s PR X account. I guess that’s good, but it should be noted that while Dowd made those comments, Tur did nothing to push back as she should have, being the host of the show. As her network showed video of people running from the gunshot that killed Kirk, Kur said that the conservative commentator was a “divisive” and polarizing” figure.” She also said that the Trump administration would use the shooting “as a justification for something.” Shawn Fleetwood at the Federalist said it well: “If anything, Tur’s rhetoric represents a perfect encapsulation of what America’s media have become: a propaganda arm of the Democrat Party whose concern for basic decency pales in comparison to their addiction to the leftist pagan religion they follow.” Kur wasn’t alone in using the moment of Kirk’s shooting and death to insist that he was “divisive.” Here’s how The New York Times first reported Kirk’s assassination. “Charlie Kirk, Right-Wing Provocateur and Close Ally of Trump, Dies at 31.” This was the New York Times’s original headline for the Charlie Kirk obituary (they’ve now changed it). Calling him a provocateur, someone who “provokes” trouble, was a grotesque way of suggesting he brought his own murder on himself. I didn’t think it was possible to hate the… pic.twitter.com/Hf41fTlU9S— Hans Mahncke (@HansMahncke) September 11, 2025 Ah yes, he “died.” Here’s how the Times reporter wrote about a man who had just been killed in cold blood: “[Kirk] quickly became a fixture in the Trumpian media sphere. He tweeted relentlessly with a brash right-wing spin, unencumbered by inconvenient facts.” Not to be outdone, the New Republic went with the headline “MAGA Troll Charlie Kirk Shot During Speaking Event at University.” They later deleted their X post with that headline and later changed it to say “MAGA Pundit,” but I got the receipt. This was your publication @newrepublic. https://t.co/LA20hViJqF pic.twitter.com/TfrrQLiDSq— Jarrett Stepman (@JarrettStepman) September 10, 2025 CNN anchor and chief legal strategist Laura Coates said on her network that if the shooting was “in fact tied to [Kirk’s] political ideology, given the fact that he is quite the lightning rod in many communities and has been accessible, and yet controversial, you‘ve got a very terrifying prospect for so many people who share his similar qualities.” ABC News’ Kyra Phillips said that Kirk “has said a number of controversial things over the years,” against a litany of groups. The Democratic Party promotes extremist, “divisive” policies that are disliked by most Americans. Does that mean it’s open game now of liberal political figures? It’s striking how much the mainstream Left has internalized the idea that words are violence, and that violence in response is perhaps imprudent, but ultimately justified. When these liberal outlets had time to reset and reflect a bit, virtually all of them condemned political violence, but then with the narrative that this was a problem caused by both sides. Some went a step further and claimed that it was Democrats who are the real victims in all this and that conservatives and Republicans need to “tone down their rhetoric.” That’s what CBS analyst Nate Burleson said on Thursday calling for Republicans to “reflect on political violence.” CBS News moron Nate Burleson says Republicans need to tone down their rhetoric after Charlie Kirk was assassinated at a free speech event. pic.twitter.com/9O12Ve4n1d— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) September 11, 2025 As NewsNation host Batya Ungar-Sargon noted, this line of reasoning flows from the Left’s notions of justice and inversion of perpetrators and victims. Democrats turning themselves into the preemptive victims of future violence the day the icon of the conservative movement was murdered in cold blood. It's their classic move—an inversion of the victim/perpetrator roles to avoid taking responsibility for violence from their side. https://t.co/YRINl06snH— Batya Ungar-Sargon (@bungarsargon) September 11, 2025 As these esteemed members of the fourth estate talk about “division” in America and about lowering the temperature, remember this moment. Some liberal outlets are seemingly making a reversal on their immediate hot takes now that the dust is settling on this assassination. But from their initial reactions, it certainly sounds like many truly believe that those who oppose the Left’s political project deserve to be punished or maybe even die for their views. David Bozell on The Dana Show: 'Charlie Kirk Was the Rush Limbaugh of Our Time'

On a reflective episode of The Dana Show podcast, simulcast on The First, host Dana Loesch sat down with MRC President David Bozell to honor the extraordinary life and tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. Bozell’s opening words captured the weight of the loss: “Charlie Kirk was certainly the best at creating an activist organization in the conservative movement. He was one of, if not the best, public speakers we had in our ranks. He combined all of that and started a podcast, and then started his family. He had this prolific career; he was the Rush Limbaugh of our time in that respect.” Loesch set the stage for the conversation by highlighting Charlie’s unique ability to connect with audiences. She described him as “naturally inquisitive,” bringing a “warm and genuine insight” to every endeavor, whether rallying young conservatives or engaging listeners through his podcast. His zeal inspired countless followers, and his loss leaves a void in the movement. Bozell built on this, emphasizing Charlie’s unparalleled impact. “He was a one-of-one,” Bozell said, comparing him to Rush, a singular voice who reshaped conservatism. “He will be sorely missed. He’s not going to be replaced by one particular individual. We’re all going to have to combine all of our forces and try to accomplish as much as he has.” The conversation took a turn to the circumstances surrounding Charlie’s death. His final tweet, Bozell pointed out, called out an “assassination culture” fueled by a study showing growing acceptance of violence over speech. “The media was one of the last things that Charlie tweeted about,” Bozell noted, tying the tragedy to a broader decline in discourse. Since Trump’s emergence, the “upper-class media,” as Bozell calls legacy outlets, has leaned into divisive rhetoric, branding conservatives as “Hitler” or worse. Shockingly, “30% of the country still believes these guys,” Bozell said, arguing that this tragedy feels like a “logical manifestation” of such hostility. He reflected on how personal attacks for one’s beliefs have become commonplace, a sentiment Charlie himself had highlighted. Loesch praised NewsBusters for exposing “media malpractice.” She wondered aloud if the media’s failure to recognize their missteps in covering Charlie’s death might finally erode their credibility. Bozell noted that while “95% of the coverage was measured” initially, with even liberal anchors offering condolences, the tone shifted quickly. CBS’s Nate Burleson challenged Kevin McCarthy, implying that Republican rhetoric bore responsibility. Meanwhile, “MSNBC’s Matthew Dowd got fired yesterday due to his comments about Charlie,” for falsely suggesting a supporter’s gun misfired. Bozell mused that Charlie, ever the “good Christian,” would have accepted Dowd’s apology, but MSNBC acted swiftly. Then there was Katy Tur, speculating on air about Trump politicizing the tragedy — a move so tone-deaf that Bozell questioned her fitness for the anchor chair. "The political Left has declared a jihad against the Right... They'd rather see us in the grave than debate us openly in public."@DavidBozell doesn't think the media will change their rhetoric after Charlie Kirk's assassination, but conservatives should never back down. pic.twitter.com/h6JobAtHyO — Media Research Center (@theMRC) September 11, 2025 As the discussion wound down, Dana asked if this could be “the final nail” for the legacy media’s influence or approach. Bozell was skeptical. “Is a murder going to change them? Maybe, but I doubt it,” he said. “The political left has declared a jihad against the right wing. I have no other way of putting it. They would rather see us in the grave than debate us openly in public. Bozell urged conservatives to recognize this hostility and stand resolute, emphasizing that now is not the time to retreat or be silenced. Bozell cautioned that legacy media, tightly entwined with tech giants like Google and Apple, still reach millions despite declining viewership. To truly diminish their influence, their credibility must erode further. “We cannot have 30% of the country believe these guys anymore. That’s got to get down into the teens or less. They must be marginalized,” he insisted. Yet, even with 95% of the media showing some respect toward Kirk — for now — Bozell warned that the cycle of division could reignite swiftly: “It’s just going to take one of them to call us Hitler or fascist again, and then it’ll be Katie bar the door all over again.” Loesch closed with heartfelt gratitude: “We appreciate everything that you and MRC do, and NewsBusters. God bless you guys. We’re so grateful." David Bozell is President of the Media Research Center and ForAmerica, a grassroots organization mobilizing conservatives to advance policies that prioritize American sovereignty and values. Dana Loesch is a conservative political commentator, the number one nationally syndicated female talk radio host of The Dana Show, and a best-selling author, recognized for her work with the NRA, Breitbart News, and TheBlaze TV.

Stewart Suggests ICE Heading To Chicago Is Like a Nazi Invasion

Even by the standards of flippant Nazi analogies, Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart had an especially ill-timed Nazi comparison on Wednesday as he taped The Weekly Show podcast before Charlie Kirk’s assassination and ahead of its Thursday release. According to Stewart, President Trump sending ICE to Chicago can be roughly analogized with Nazi invasions in World War II. Stewart began, “It is, we're taping this on Wednesday, September 10th, it's gonna be airing tomorrow, and today is the day they launched Operation Midway Blitz. Named for the city of Chicago and what the Nazis did through Europe. What could go wrong?” “Blitz” just means lightning. Has Stewart ever watched a football game where the defense blitzes the quarterback? The Seattle Seahawks’ mascot is named Blitz. Is he a Nazi? What about Chicago’s former USFL team, the Chicago Blitz?     Alluding to a Trump Truth Social post, Stewart continued as he introduced his guest, “They'll find out why it's called the Department of War, and by the way, I don't believe that's Wins Above Replacement. But we are fortunate enough today to be speaking with the field general who is tasked with repulsing this military incursion, and that is the governor of the great state of Illinois. He is joining us now from the front lines. Let's go to him now. Governor JB Pritzker. So, ladies and gentlemen, we are obviously, we have a correspondent in the war zone that is now Illinois. It is Governor JB Pritzker. Sir, welcome to the show.” Stewart then wondered, “Operation Midway Blitz, is it underway in Chicago? Has Chicago fallen? What, what is this? What the hell is happening?” Pritzker began by lamenting, “Well, reporting to you from the front lines, ICE is on the ground. We have already seen some arrests. They are not in full force yet. We've only seen, well, less than 10, detainments, arrests, but they are, they only have, it seems like a dozen or two dozen people so far. We know they have as many as 300 agents that have landed at the naval station at Great Lakes and they are—” Despite the fact the military is not actually on the ground in Chicago, Stewart continued with the World War II theme, “Did they take watercraft and do a water landing and then storm the beach?” Pritzker reiterated that, so far, only ICE is involved but warned the administration wants a pretext to send the troops in, “They have come with 100 vehicles. They are unmarked vehicles, and we know that they are preparing to span all of Chicago, and indeed some of the arrests that occurred yesterday were in suburbs of Chicago. So, it's a pretty widespread endeavor, and it's being led by Gregory Bovino, who led the ICE raids in Los Angeles and caused all of that mayhem on the ground. That's their intention here, but to do it, you know, even more so here because Donald Trump wants to create a situation for Chicago where he can bring in the National Guard.” For a man who is constantly freaking out about Trump cancelling elections, Pritzker sure has been doing a lot of interviews recently to get his name recognition up for 2028. Maybe eventually an interviewer can point out the flaw in arguing that ICE “caused all of that mayhem.” ICE didn’t cause that; the rioters used their free will to engage in lawlessness. In the meantime, recent developments should lead Stewart to quit trivializing Nazi crimes by comparing them to standard law enforcement operations. Here is a transcript for the September 10-taped show: Comedy Central The Weekly Show 9/11/2025 JON STEWART: It is, we're taping this on Wednesday, September 10th, it's gonna be airing tomorrow, and today is the day they launched Operation Midway Blitz.
