President Trump Visits Tomb Of Unknown Soldier On Memorial Day

President Trump visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Monday morning and gave a short speech to commemorate Memorial Day. Trump, while giving remarks, stated, “Every day the Republic stands is only possible because of those who did what had to be done when duty called.” He added, “Our debt to them is eternal, and it does not diminish with time. It only grows and grows and grows with each passing year.” “The greatest monument to their courage is not carved in marble or cast in bronze. It’s all around us, an American nation, 325 million strong,” concluded Trump. It only grows and grows and grows with each passing year. The greatest monument to their courage is not carved in marble or cast in bronze. It’s all around us, an American nation, 325 million strong.” Before his remarks, the president laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a somber annual tradition for presidents, and one Mr. Trump participated in during his first term as president. He was accompanied by Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who stood behind him as he placed the wreath. “Each life honored here in Arlington was once full of the ordinary moments and quiet dreams of early sunrises, of good days and bad days, of celebrations and disappointments,” Vance said. “For my fellow Americans, especially those watching on television, consider the sum of all the moments that make a good life, and now appreciate that countless strangers — people most of you never met — they gave up those moments in their own life so that we could enjoy them in ours. And that is what Memorial Day is all about.” Early Monday, Mr. Trump posted a message on his social media platform Truth Social about Memorial Day, writing in all caps that he wished a “happy Memorial Day to all,” including the “scum that spent the last four years trying to destroy our country through warped radical left minds.” He went on to target immigration policies and accused “USA-hating judges who suffer from an ideology that is sick, and very dangerous for our country” of protecting criminals. Trump took a swipe at the previous administration after speaking about the first soldiers who died at Bunker Hill. “Those young men could never have known what their sacrifice would mean to us, but we certainly know what we owe to them. That valor gave us the freest, greatest and most noble Republic ever to exist on the face of the earth. A republic that I am fixing after a long and hard four years. That was a hard four years we went through,” Trump said, prompting some applause from the audience. “Who would let that happen? People pouring through our borders unchecked,” he continued, though he did not explicitly mention former President Joe Biden by name. “People doing things that are indescribable and not for today to discuss.” Still, Trump continued: “We will do better than we’ve ever done as a nation, better than ever before. I promise you that.”

Scott Pelley: Angry, Unhinged Commencement Speech

Most arrogant and supercilious Scott Pelley scolded Donald Trump during the commencement speech at the Woke Wake Forest commencement today. ‘The Scenes In Liverpool Are Appalling’: Driver Plows Through Crowd Of Soccer Fans In U.K.

A driver crashed his vehicle into a crowd of parade-goers in Liverpool, England, on Monday as thousands of soccer fans celebrated the city’s football club. Police said a man rammed his vehicle through a crowded street, knocking down and running over pedestrians before he was stopped. Police confirmed that they had arrested “a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area.” “The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a post on X. “I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident.” “I’m being kept updated on developments and ask that we give the police the space they need to investigate,” he added. Video of the incident shows a gray van knocking a slew of pedestrians out of the way as it appeared to swerve into the crowd. Another angle appeared to show at least one person trapped beneath the car as emergency workers surrounded the area. Video of the suspected driver’s arrest showed a team of police officers keeping the crowd back. Several men appeared to rush officers as if trying to get their hands on the suspect. ADMIN POST. (@TRobinsonNewEra) May 26, 2025 Natasha Rinaldi, an eyewitness to the incident, said that police officers were forced to protect the suspect from furious members of the crowd. The police did everything to block and to push people away,” she told Sky News. “We could just hear screams. We were very confused. Some of my friends were down there and the car was so near them. It was a horrible scene, nobody was expecting it.” Thousands of fans lined a 10-mile long parade route on Monday after Liverpool Football Club won the English Premier League. The club locked up the title last month before the end of the season, but players hoisted the Premier League trophy on Sunday. “We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening,” the club said in a statement after the vehicle attack. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident,” it continued. “We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident.”

Before Tapper’s Book, Washington Week Host Mocked Warnings from Rep. Phillips, Hur

Before Tapper’s Book, Washington Week Host Mocked Warnings from Rep. Phillips, Hur

Washington Week with The Atlantic host (and Atlantic editor) Jeffrey Goldberg devoted a full episode of his latest show, normally a political panel, solely to interviewing journalists Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson about their book Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again. NewsBusters has already covered Goldberg’s insulting arrogance, as if “media critics don't understand ‘how reporting works’ when journalists cooperated with Biden in denying what was obvious to a large majority of Americans -- that Biden wasn't fit to be president.” Tapper also brought up a couple of names of people who brought Biden’s decline to national attention in 2024, including former Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, who tried to challenge Biden in Democratic primaries, calling attention to Biden’s age and decline, and special counsel Robert Hur, who had famously described Biden in his special counsel report on the former president's handling of classified documents as a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." After Tapper asked rhetorically, “Where are the incentive structures for people in our politics to raise their hand and say, the emperor has no clothes?” Goldberg himself brought up Rep. Phillips’ challenge. Goldberg: “There was one congressman, one congressman….” Tapper: Dean Phillips, who ran against Joe Biden, and was defenestrated. And, you know, who knows what he's going to do next. He's out of Congress. He was utterly destroyed and humiliated. Robert Hur, the special counsel, tried to tell the truth about what he saw behind the scenes. We've now all heard the Hur tapes and, oh my God, that's the same Joe Biden that was at the debate. But travel back to 2024, and we find that Goldberg himself bashed both Rep. Phillips and special counsel Robert Hur. On the February 9, 2024 edition, Goldberg had an exchange with roundtable guest and fellow PBS personality Amna Nawaz, co-anchor of the News Hour. JEFFREY GOLDBERG: Amna, let me ask about the prosecutor here, the investigation, Mr. Hur. Was he out of bounds in describing in very colloquial terms how he viewed Biden`s age and memory? Nawaz agreed with Goldberg somewhat, while admitting Biden's age was a valid concern among voters. Goldberg seemed eager to tamp down the age controversy while chiding Hur, asking former New York Times editor James Bennett, “is this a redux of Hillary and her emails?” Bennett also agreed that Hur had gone too far. BENNETT: But I found some of the language in the report a little bit gratuitous. I mean, it seemed to me to go unnecessarily far and a little bit that they were trying to smuggle some of the details in. If you look at specific details, like saying, was I still vice president in 2013, you could get confused about, technically, did my vice presidency end in 2012 or 2013? You could read that a couple of different ways. Not done, Goldberg solicited similar comments from Politico's Josh Gerstein, asking, "was this out of bounds?" Gerstein also agreed, in a convoluted fashion, accusing Hur of performing "a degree of sleight of hand" before agreeing with Goldberg that the descriptive phrases by Hur were irresponsible. JEFFREY GOLDBERG: That was almost written for the tweet. JOSH GERSTEIN: It really seemed like something that was being thrown in there…. As also noted above, Tapper also mentionedPhillips sympathetically as someone “utterly destroyed and humiliated,” presumably by Biden staffers, for challenging Biden’s nomination. So how did Goldberg and his Washington Week panel treat Phillips during that fateful 2024 primary season? On the March 29, 2024 edition, Atlantic staff writer Mark Leibovich and Goldberg had this sarcastic exchange. MARK LEIBOVICH: ….let`s be honest, I mean, Biden has performed quite well in the primaries. And the Democratic primaries, if you look at the numeric difference, there was some talk that Dean Phillips was going to get 25, 30 percent of the vote, you know, he was in -- JEFFREY GOLDBERG: You remember Dean Phillips? [Laughter] LEIBOVICH: I do, right. GOLDBERG: Wow. LEIBOVICH: I mean, yes, he did get out, right? GOLDBERG: I had no idea. NIA-MALIKA HENDERSON, CNN: He did drop out, I think, right? LEIBOVICH: And he did drop out.

Morning Joe Regular: Trump Thinks His Charisma And 'Intellect' Will Deter Putin

Michael Weiss maintained a deadpan demeanor. But seen in the context of his other comments, it seemed that the MSNBC regular was mocking President Trump. On Monday's Morning Joe, reacting to the recent round of Russian attacks on Ukraine, and on Trump's critical comments about Putin, Weiss [looking like he just crawled out of bed] said: "I think the most generous interpretation we can make is that Donald Trump genuinely believes that the force of his own personality, and I suppose his charisma and his intellect, could bend Putin to his will. The Russian president's response is, f-off, basically. He's humiliating Trump. He's embarrassing Trump's so-called peace process." For his part, Jonathan Lemire, hosting the interview, added his own share of skepticism about Trump. Reacting to Trump's assertion that "I don't know what the hell happened to Putin. Something happened to this guy, and I don't like it," Lemire said: "It is hard to argue that President Putin of Russia's behavior has changed at any point during this war. Putin has been dead set on claiming Ukraine, or as much of it as he can, since February 2022, if not earlier. Trump has been angry at Putin before, briefly, hasn't done anything about it. Putin seems to know that, and that's why he's acting in such defiance, continuing these strikes."  Speaking of presidential intellect, Sam Harris, the philosopher and one of the "Four Horsemen of New Atheism," has said, commenting on the revelations about the cover-up of Biden's incapacity, that because he views Trump as "genuinely evil": "I would rather have a president in a coma, where the duties of the presidency are executed by a committee of just normal people." Here's the transcript. MSNBC Morning Joe 5/26/25 6:01 am EDT JONATHAN LEMIRE: On the tarmac in New Jersey, outside his golf club there in Bedminster, President Trump spoke about the situation to reporters.  PRESIDENT TRUMP: I'm not happy with what Putin's doing. He's killing a lot of people. And I don't know what the hell happened to Putin. I've known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he's sending rockets into cities and killing people and I don't like it at all, okay?  We're in the middle of talking, and he's shooting rockets into Kiev and other cities. I don't like it at all.  REPORTER: Mr. President, what do you want to do about that?  TRUMP: And I'm surprised. I'm very surprised. We'll see what we're going to do. What, am I going to tell you? You're the fake news, aren't you? You're totally fake. All right, any other questions?  I don't like what Putin is doing, not even a little bit. He's killing people. And something happened to this guy, and I don't like it.  LEMIRE: It is hard to argue that President Putin of Russia's behavior has changed at any point during this war. Trump claims [inaudible] are there.  The president's comments come just hours after at least 12 people were killed throughout Ukraine as Russia launched over 350 drones and missiles into the country overnight into Sunday. Dozens more were injured then in one of the largest assaults of the war so far. It was followed up with more attacks this morning, after Trump's words, marking the third consecutive day of large-scale strikes targeting civilians.  Joining us now, the editor at The Insider, Michael Weiss. Michael, we're always so grateful when you join us to talk about the situation in Ukraine, and a lot to get to. Let's start with President Trump's words just now, where he is claiming, somehow, that Putin's behavior has changed during this war, when it has not. Putin has been dead set on claiming Ukraine, or as much of it as he can, since February 2022, if not earlier.  And also, tell us about that, the shift you're seeing. And also, you know, Trump has been angry at Putin before, briefly, hasn't done anything about it. Putin seems to know that, and that's why he's acting in such defiance, continuing these strikes.  MICHAEL WEISS: I think the most generous interpretation we can make is that Donald Trump genuinely believes that the force of his own personality, and I suppose his charisma and his intellect, could bend Putin to his will. And that Putin, as a gesture, good grace, if you like, would stop the war, pause the war, diminish his capacity to do harm in pursuit of these negotiations.  And, you know, the Russian president's response is, f-off, basically. He's humiliating Trump. He's embarrassing Trump's so-called peace process. He's showing through fire and steel that he has absolutely no interest in stopping the war, either temporarily or permanently.  I mean, the Russian goal has been from day one, the complete conquest of Ukraine.  . . .  So, I think Donald Trump is finding out the hard way that he cannot end this war. Certainly, he wasn't able to do so in 24 hours, as he famously said on the campaign trail. He can't even do so in the space of more than 100 days of his second term.
