Megan Moroney’s Unreleased Ode To Her Mom, “Leave Me Alone,” Has Fans Ugly Crying On TikTok

Will this one be on MM3? Megan Moroney fans are delving deep into the archives, bringing some of her older, unreleased gems back to the surface. Moroney, like many other artists, has a list of songs that are in the vault, which may have been shared with fans via acoustic social media videos or on YouTube, but have not been released to fans through formal studio recordings. When fans find these gems, it often leads to pleas from them hoping that it will be released sooner rather than later. While one of Moroney’s beloved unreleased tunes, “Wedding Dress,” has been confirmed to appear on her next record, another one that fans are hoping will also make the cut is “Leave Me Alone.” In 2021, Moroney released the song on her YouTube channel, but has not yet formally released a studio version of the song. In the YouTube video, she shared that the song was inspired by her best friend: her mother. “‘Leave Me Alone’ is probably one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written. I cried the first time playing it through when I wrote it back in 2020. My mom is my best friend, and I quite literally don’t think I could function without her. I went through the typical teenage stage where I thought I was capable of being independent and doubted her advice. As I got older, I realized just how much I need her love, guidance and wisdom. I wasn’t sure what project this song would fit on, but I wanted to share it here with y’all because it’s so special to me. I love you, Mom. I know Grandma is watching over us. Happy Mother’s Day.” The deeply personal song highlights how the relationship you have with your parents changes as you age. You go from fighting back with their wishes and being a definite teenager to needing them on an emotional level and finding yourself reaching out to them more frequently. “I said mama just leave me alone I get its a big world and you care but let me go I can do this on my own Your little girl is all grown up So mama leave me alone It was my second year of college And I couldn’t stop calling Cause you had answers to everything And I couldn’t work that washing machine I guess you always knew it all You made my problems seem so small…” While this song applies to how relationships shift with both sets of parents, whether you’re closer to your mother or father, it does strike a chord, making you appreciate the sacrifices that your mother specifically makes. As a girl, there are specific topics that you run to your mother for, whether it’s a boy who broke your heart or something else. As we age and grow in our wisdom, our brain suddenly shifts to reject that stubborn desire for independence, and go back to seeking out those wise words from our moms. While the song has been in the digital space for years, it’s experiencing a resurgence on TikTok. Many young women are using the song, posting videos and images on social media that feature pictures of their mothers or show them with teary eyes, accompanied by captions expressing their gratitude for their mothers. @chloe_holladay I love my momma #fyp ♬ leave me alone by megan moroney – supa secret @lane.maeelizabeth MEGAN IM BAWLING @Megan Moroney #unreleasedmeganmoroney #meganmoroney #fyp #newmusic #allgrownup #college #daddyslittlegirl ♬ leave me alone by megan moroney – supa secret I know this song makes me choke up every time I hear it, and scrolling through the TikTok videos tugged at my heartstrings, too. If Megan Moroney puts “Leave Me Alone” and “Wedding Dress” on this next record, I’m going to be the ultimate emo cowgirl. Eric Church To Be Honored With The ACM Icon Award Following Impressive Philanthropic Efforts In The Wake Of Hurricane Helene

Eric Church To Be Honored With The ACM Icon Award Following Impressive Philanthropic Efforts In The Wake Of Hurricane Helene

Very well-deserved. This year, Eric Church will be honored with the ACM Icon Award at the ACM Honors, which is an event that celebrates special award recipients, off-camera category winners, and winners of ACM Industry and Studio Recording Awards. It’s a separate event held after the main ACM Awards show, and there are usually some decent performances and great people who are honored. The Icon award is: “Presented to a Country Music artist, duo/group or industry leader who, throughout their career, has advanced the popularity of the genre through their contributions in multiple facets of the industry, such as songwriting, recording, production, touring, film, television, literary works, philanthropic contributions, and other goodwill efforts.” Of course, Eric has done a ton of philanthropic work for his home state of North Carolina since last October when Hurricane Helene ravaged western North Carolina, so it’s great to see him being recognized for all he has done in this way, in addition to his obvious musical contributions to country music: “Eric Church will be honored with the ACM Icon Award. Eric, who has received seven ACM Awards, has continually pushed the boundaries of the genre, blending elements of blues, rock, and outlaw country while continuing to explore new, unique sounds and inviting the genre to follow. As a prolific songwriter, Church has racked up numerous hits. His fearless approach to both his music and his career path has made him a lasting influence and a true icon of Country Music.” The show will be next month on August 20th, and if you happen to be in Nashville, tickets to attend the event at The Pinnacle will go on sale this Friday, July 11th. Ben Vaughn, the late President & CEO of Warner Chappell Music, will also be honored posthumously after he tragically passed away earlier this year: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Academy of Country Music (ACM) (@acmawards) Of course, Eric alongside Luke Combs, they raised over $24.5 million for residents in western North Carolina that were devastated by historic flooding from Hurricane Helene with their Concert For Carolina benefit show last year, and Eric has gone onto start his Blue Print for the Blue Ridge initiative, which is the umbrella that his Blue Haven community is under. He has broken ground on that neighborhood in Avery county, where a new community of homes are being built for those who lost everything in the floods. Families should be moving in soon if they haven’t already, and Eric has already purchased more land in the area to start another similar neighborhood because the need is so high. During an appearance on Bobby Bones’ podcast not long ago, he talked about the idea behind it and why he felt it was necessary to implement everything this way, which gives the families a pathway to ownership of the homes: “When the concert was over with, we were able to raise a substantial amount of money. When we had raised the money, immediately it was like, what are we gonna do with it? And there were four or five charities that were lined up, that are great charities, they do great work, and they said, why don’t you give it to us? And my next question was, okay, what are you doing? And a lot of them were doing immediate stuff, keeping people alive, water, diapers, just temporary housing. But none of that did anything to change the trajectory of the lives that the people who had lost homes, none of that was going on. So I asked about housing, and nobody had an answer for me on housing. So as opposed to what the government does, where they come in and they provide temporary hosing, in a different location to have a roof over their head… so basically, it’s little small communities. and there’s not a lot of people in these communities, some of these communities are 300 or 400 people. So we really came up with a novel idea of building permanent housing, not temporary. And not only allowing them to live there for a period of time cost free, we call it Blueprint For the Blue Ridge, the whole key is, we want to give them a path to ownership for that home. So a lot of these people are people that could have never maybe owned a home in their life because of their financial situation, but now, with our help, and with the people who gave help, you can change that entire family in a generational way. Not just theirs, but their kids.” It’s really a completely different type of program that’s never been done this way before, and I have a feeling he’s only going to continue these efforts and change the lives of people who have been so devastated: “So for those 45 families, the idea would be, they’ll end up owning those homes. We just closed on two other properties, we’re doing two other properties. We’ll end up doing about, as of right now, about 200 homes. The best thing is, as I looked around the country, nobody has done this, which is shocking by the way. That in the United States of America, this is not done, but it wasn’t done during Katrina, it wasn’t done during any other disaster we’ve had. And affordable housing is a major problem in the U.S. and when a disaster happens, it just shines a spotlight on that problem. So we’re trying to solve that the best we can, in something that is blue printable for other states when a disaster happens.” Eric explained that this approach is obviously vastly different from how the government does things, but it was extremely important for him to make sure these people, who lost everything, got to keep their community: “From a government standpoint, the way they would look at it, you’re probably not affecting as many people in a minor way, where you take a big sum of money and you put more people in something for a year, but you’re not changing those peoples’ lives. Then you have problem #2, which is year two, year three. So what we looked at was, you can effect a smaller number and change their entire life, and their families life, it provides a pillar for the foundation of that community. It’s completely different from what’s been done, it’s what we’re doing, and so far, it’s going well. We’ll see where we go from here.” Eric also put out “Darkest Hour” in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene, of which the money made from the song will forever go towards helping with Hurricane Helene recovery efforts. Impressive doesn’t feel like a strong enough word for everything Eric has done, and I know his intention for doing all of this amazing work obviously isn’t to get some award from the ACM’s, but I’m still proud to see him be recognized for hit because he’s beyond deserving of it. “Darkest Hour” The post Eric Church To Be Honored With The ACM Icon Award Following Impressive Philanthropic Efforts In The Wake Of Hurricane Helene first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Craig Morgan Says Ignorance Of Our US Military Is Nothing New, But You Won’t Burn The Flag Around Him: “That Won’t Happen If I’m Around”

Craig Morgan Says Ignorance Of Our US Military Is Nothing New, But You Won’t Burn The Flag Around Him: “That Won’t Happen If I’m Around”

Calling it like he sees it. Country star Craig Morgan is currently enlisted as a soldier in the Army Reserve – which typically provides training and informational session about the Army all across the country. Those in the Army Reserve are also able to be deployed if the Army’s Total Force is ever needed. Morgan reenlisted in the Army last summer after previously serving for 17 years as a staff sergeant and fire support specialist in the Army and the Army Reserve with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. The country music artist actually got sworn back into the Army on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. On an episode of Fox & Friends earlier this year, Morgan was asked why he decided to enlist again, and he revealed that there were two big reasons why he chose to join back on and serve: “Recruiting was worse than it had ever been in the history of our nation. It was terrible, and I felt like I could bring something to the table to help with that. Secondly, I served 17 years and I never got a letter that said, ‘Thank you for your service.’ I wanted that retirement letter so bad. So this was an opportunity for me to do that.” The conversation quickly pivoted to the recent increase in U.S. Army recruiting in the past couple of months. The U.S. Army proudly reported they were seeing their best recruiting numbers in over a decade to begin 2025. The White House even posted a message to social media letting Americans know that in December, the Army had their best recruiting numbers in 12 years. That trend continued into January, when the U.S. Army experienced recruiting numbers at levels that haven’t been seen in over 15 years. So the White House is chalking it up as win for the Trump administration: “WE’RE SO BACK. The U.S. Army has achieved its highest recruiting numbers in 15 years, following a 12-year high in December. Under President Trump’s America First leadership, Americans are answering the call to serve.” WE'RE SO BACK The @USArmy has achieved its highest recruiting numbers in 15 years, following a 12-year high in December. I’ve got to be honest. I’ve spent a lot of time out there talking to our young Americans and trying to encourage them. As you all just said, there’s a sense of renewed pride in our nation, and that trickles down to our young men and women and their families.” Morgan was sworn back into the Army on the Grand Ole Opry stage last summer. During a recent episode of the Matthew West Podcast, Morgan explained why exactly he’s so passionate about it, saying that our nation is “so comfortable” that it’s easy for everyone here to “make judgments and assessments on things that are happening around the world.” Most of us have never had to go overseas and fight for the United States in a war or anything of that nature, and Morgan stressed that he’s glad most people haven’t seen what he has in terms of how dark and gruesome it is, but it falls on him to try to explain it all so people have a better understanding and appreciation of their freedoms: “There’s just certain things you’re not going to do in my presence, like burn the flag. That won’t happen if I’m around. Our society, and it’s not new, I mean, look what happened to our Vietnam veterans when they came home. It’s the ignorance of the stability of our nation. We are so comfortable, that it’s easy for us to make these judgments and assessments on things that are happening around the world. I’ve seen ugliness that most humans here cannot, and quite honestly, I said this earlier, I don’t want them to know. And because of that, they’re gonna act a certain way. My job is to try to communicate the truth to them as best I can, and if I’ve done that, and they still feel the way they feel, that’s their right. That’s their prerogative.” It’s true, and it makes you incredibly grateful to have people like him willing to sacrifice so that we don’t ever have to know from personal experience the horrors of what so many in other countries experience on a daily basis: @thematthewwestpodcast One thing you can’t do in @Craig Morgan’s presence? This EP is no different, and Craig says that there is a little something for everybody: “I believe most people in this nation can relate to something in each song on this project.
