The heart wants what it wants. Today, Kip Moore released another new song called "Around You," from his sixth studio album Solitary Tracks, which will be out everywhere on February 28th and feature a whopping 23 songs on the tracklist. The song was written by Kip along with Jaren Johnston and Casey Beathard, it finds Kip fighting temptation and desire but ultimately giving in when he's around a certain girl: "Well, I run the risk of goin' mad I don't know how I let it get this bad And I'm smoking cigarettes and reliving the night we met While staring at the phone Then whiskey only fuels the fire Hundred proof of pure desire And every time I see you, it's the same damn thing I don't recognize me" There's definitely hints of The Clash and The Ramones in there both lyrically and in terms of the production, and I think Kip does these kind of alluring, lustful types of songs so well. This one is up there with one of my favorites along with "Bad Spot," and he has also released “Learning As I Go,” “Live Here To Work,” “Flowers in December” and “Wildfire” from the album. This latest project follows up his fifth career studio album Damn Love, which was released in early 2023, although he’s turned the page to a new chapter by signing with Virgin Music Group, after leaving his longtime label MCA Nashville last year. It’s also the most ambitious album he’s ever released in terms of the length and scope coming in at 23 songs, which were co-produced by Moore with Jaren Johnston and additional production by Oscar Charles and Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Lainey Wilson).
