Only 17 days before the Biden administration left power, it sent more than $3 million to the Palestinian Authority Security Forces (PASF), among whom are members who, according to a report, executed more than 1,500 terror attacks against Israel in 2023. The Washington Free Beacon gained access to a January 3 nonpublic funding notice transmitted to Congress. “Those funds allowed the PASF to conduct ‘firearms and ammunition’ training—and came after its members carried out scores of attacks against Israelis,” Adam Kredo of the Free Beacon reported, adding that the “PASF is reportedly seeking more than $680 million from the American government over the next four years.” Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), which researches Palestinian society and has numerous Arabic language researchers, conducted a 2024 investigation that found roughly 400 Palestinians imprisoned for terrorism were known to be members of the PASF. Additionally, PMW reported in February 2024 that it had “documented at least 55 attacks by PA security forces against Israeli soldiers or civilians since 2020 … In each case, the PA or its ruling Fatah party has eulogized the attacker as one of their own ‘soldiers.’” “The American suggestion to empower these terror forces to rule Gaza after Israel has destroyed the terror infrastructure is inconceivable,” PMW founder Itamar Marcus told the Washington Free Beacon last year. “The PA and its security forces are a fundamental part of the problem; it is absurd to believe they can be part of the solution.” Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), former chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, noted, “The PASF have demonstrated an ongoing inability to maintain order in (Judea and Samaria), a fact made more concerning by emerging reports of the group’s ties to terrorism in the region. As everyone knows, money is fungible.” McCaul called for the Trump administration and Congress to “conduct rigorous oversight of this type of funding, which the Biden administration quietly noticed at the 11th hour. We must ensure taxpayer dollars are not empowering terrorists to fight our allies and undermine the very principles they’re meant to protect.” According to the notice, the funds the Biden administration sent are providing “equipment and training” in Judea and Samaria for the Palestinians. As The Free Beacon noted, the first Trump presidency froze hundreds of millions in U.S. funds for the Palestinian Authority, but the Biden administration reinstated $45 million a year in funding to the PA security services, despite the fact that internal assessments “showed that the funding could boost the Iran-backed terror group Hamas.”

A gynecologist in southern France has been suspended for a month after saying he couldn’t treat a trans-identifying male. Gynecologists treat conditions specific to women and girls, particularly those affecting female reproductive systems – something biological men don’t have. The patient in France still had intact male genitalia, which requires a doctor with a different medical specialty. It would have been malpractice for Dr. Victor Acharian to examine the trans-identifying patient, who has not been named in news reports. The incident occurred in August 2023, The Times of London reported, when a trans-identifying male entered Acharian’s practice requesting gynecological services. Acharian has said he offered to refer the patient to services better suited to the patient’s needs, using the patient’s preferred pronouns. “I was only trying to be honest when I said it wasn’t my specialty and I wasn’t competent. I offered to refer her to services that could take better care of her,” Acharian said in December when he was forced to appear before the French Medical Council’s disciplinary board. The patient, according to Acharian, shouted, “You’re transphobic,” and insulted the doctor’s secretary before leaving the office. The patient told the disciplinary board: “I was in shock. It was the first time I had suffered this sort of transphobia.” After the incident, the patient’s partner reportedly left a negative Google review about the doctor’s refusal to treat a biological male. Acharian responded to the review by addressing the “gentleman” and writing that he only treated “real women,” the Times reported. “I have no skills to take care of men, even if they have shaved their beards and they come and tell my secretary that they have become women. My gynecological examination table is not suitable for examining men,” Acharian wrote, according to the Times. He later apologized for his word choices, saying: “I reacted spontaneously, out of anger, as I felt I was being attacked unfairly. My words were very clumsy and they may have caused offence. I’m well aware of that and I have expressed my regret on several occasions.” For this, Acharian was suspended from practicing medicine for one month and will be on probation with the French Medical Council for an additional five months. Edouard Martial, the patients’ attorney, said after the hearing, “We have the satisfaction of having confirmation that what happened that day was totally abnormal.” The Times also noted that pro-transgender activist groups claimed transgender patients faced difficulties in finding healthcare – though it should be noted that gynecological exams for biological males are not healthcare. The Trump administration has warned hundreds of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staffers that they could be fired “immediately.” The email was sent to more than 1,100 employees hired within the past year who have probationary status, including new hires and employees who took new roles at the agency, according to The New York Times. The notice went out within days of the Senate confirming Trump’s pick to lead the agency, former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY). “As a probationary/trial period employee, the agency has the right to immediately terminate you,” the email says. EPA spokeswoman Molly Vaseliou said the goal of the email was to be “transparent” about the agency, according to the Times. “On his first day in office, he engaged directly with career staff across E.P.A.’s headquarters — spanning two city blocks in downtown D.C. — listening to their insights and perspectives,” Vaseliou said. “Ultimately, the goal is to create a more effective and efficient federal government that serves all Americans.” In one of his first actions as EPA administrator, Zeldin is traveling to East Palestine, Ohio, with Vice President JD Vance on Monday to inspect the site of the train crash and chemical spill that upended life in the small town two years ago. Zeldin plans to carry through on Trump’s pledge to end remote work at the agency. It’s a move that could also shrink the size of government if employees opt to leave their federal jobs instead of returning to full-time office work. Most federal workers have already been offered a buyout to resign their roles now and be paid through September. “I believe the COVID remote work era is over,” Zeldin told The Daily Signal. “It’s time to come back into the office and collaborate and to be productive in a way that the American public can be proud of to the max.” The EPA office in Washington, D.C., sits largely empty, according to the new administrator. “And it wasn’t that I just passed by an office or two. I went through an entire wing where no door was open and no one was inside. I went to other offices where there were lots of people there, working hard,” he recalled. “We’re occupying a beautiful, historic, massive building. And we shouldn’t have hallways that are this quiet. The American people pay us to work for them.”

The White House released a video featuring the mothers of victims who were killed by illegal immigrants in response to Selena Gomez’s viral video of herself crying over the Trump administration’s deportations. Gomez’s original video showed her openly weeping due to President Donald Trump’s policies. “I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry,” she said in the video posted last week. “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.” The pop star quickly deleted the Instagram Stories post due to backlash, then followed up with the response, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people,” which she also deleted. There’s many other children whose lives were taken due to the people who cross here illegally.”    Tammy Nobles is the mother of Kathy Hamilton, who was raped and murdered in a Maryland mobile home by El Salvadorian national Walter Javier Martinez, per NBC News. She says in the video, “You don’t know who you’re crying for.” “What about our children who were brutally murdered, and raped and beat to death and left on the floor by these illegal immigrants?” Nobles asked. “I am so happy that Trump won. I’m so glad that this is one of the first bills to help with immigration,” she said at another point.  “I just feel like it’s a ruse to deceive people and to garner sympathy for lawlessness,” a mother named Patty Morin says in her response to Gomez’s reaction. “No one has stood up except us mothers to cry out about our children.” Morin’s daughter Rachel Morin, a mother of five, was discovered dead on Maryland’s Ma and Pa trail in 2023. A man from El Salvador named Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez was arrested in connection with her murder. NBC News noted that he was also being investigated for murder in his home country. The three women conclude by thanking President Trump for his drive to deport violent illegal immigrants from the country. “We stand with President Trump to make America safe again,” Morin said. 

After three weeks of tireless effort, the deadly L.A. wildfires have reached 100 percent containment. Now, the work continues as countless families return to their homes, many of which will need to be rebuilt. But for one homeowner in Altadena, their return home presented them with an issue they never would have expected. At some point while they were evacuated, a massive bear made his way under the house. It seems the bear may have needed shelter during the fires. So, this clever guy managed to make his way into a home’s crawl space. While this may have served as a good spot to hide away during the fires, with the family home, it was time for him to go. But getting this 525-pound bear to leave was quite a feat. Luckily, the California Department of Fish and Wildfire was able to help. Facebook Obviously, there are many reasons to be quick about getting a bear out of your home. But there was an added pressure in this case. In order to restore power to the home, the bear needed to be removed ASAP. Ideally, they would have been able to use a tranquilizer immediately to help them safely remove the bear. But that simply wasn’t an option in this case. During the L.A. Fires, Bear Finds Safety Under the House of an Unsuspecting Family The reason why goes back to the impressive size of the creature. Given the size of the crawl space compared to the bear, a different method was needed. So, instead, a non-harmful trap was placed to capture him. To lure the bear, apples, peanut butter, and some rotisserie chicken were placed inside. Facebook Finally, after a harrowing 24 hours, the bear was free! But before he was returned to the wild, these animal experts ensured he was okay. Like the humans in L.A., the nearby animals have also been through a lot with these wildfires. “The bear was transported in the trap into Angeles National Forest and given a welfare check, GPS-collared, and measured before being safely released just after midnight,” the California department shares on social media.
