Kamala Harris Gains First Delegates For Democratic Presidential Nomination

After Joe Biden announced he will not seek reelection, Kamala Harris has gained support for the Democratic presidential nomination. Harris picked up endorsements from Hillary Clinton and California Gov. Gavin Newsom. On Sunday, Harris gained her first delegates for the party’s presidential nomination. The Tennessee Democratic Party threw its support behind Harris. “During a meeting today, the Tennessee Delegation to the 2024 Democratic National Convention voted to support @KamalaHarris for President of the United States,” the Tennessee Democratic Party announced. Biden delegate and Knoxville political strategist Jack Vaughn told Knox News their decision makes Tennessee the first state to put forth an endorsement. Democratic State Party Chair Hendrell Remus was in contact with other state party chairs, who said their states had not yet made an endorsement at the time of Tennessee’s decision. The delegates joined a scheduled Zoom call at 4 p.m. and discussed the party’s path forward following the president’s surprise announcement in a letter to Americans. While not every Tennessee delegate to the Democratic National Convention was on the call, participants decided to endorse Harris in the election many top Democrats thought was impossible for Biden to win against former President Donald Trump. #BREAKING: KAMALA HARRIS RECEIVES FIRST DELEGATES Tennessee has now pledged 77 delegates, and other state party chairs are holding a call now to coalesce around Harris, according to Reuters The “Democratic” Party is ANYTHING but democratic Nobody voted for this chick pic.twitter.com/y4Vq3fntV7 — Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) July 21, 2024 The Tennessee convention delegation voted today to back Vice President Kamala Harris for president but not all state delegations have lined up behind her yet.https://t.co/do5MGNgfAl — Tennessee Lookout (@TNLookout) July 22, 2024 Per Tennessee Lookout: Tennessee delegates reached Sunday by the Tennessee Lookout indicated they were inclined to support Harris. “I’m extremely pleased he has endorsed Kamala Harris and it would be awfully difficult to not strongly support her,” said Chip Forrester, an at-large delegate from Tennessee. All the congressional Democrats from Wisconsin, a key battleground state in November’s election, quickly endorsed Harris, the Wisconsin Examiner reported. The state’s Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and party Chair Ben Wikler both stopped short of endorsing the vice president. One national delegate reached by the Oregon Capital Chronicle, Medford City Councilor Kevin Stine, said he would vote for Harris. Indiana state Sen. Karen Tallian said she would support Harris, even as others among the Hoosier State’s 88 DNC delegates declined to comment Sunday. But far from all Democratic delegates have lined up behind Harris. South Dakota delegates have not taken a position on endorsing Harris. Instead, they are waiting for guidance from the national party, the executive director of the South Dakota Democratic Party, Dan Ahlers, said to South Dakota Searchlight.

DELTA AIRLINES flight attendants are outraged that they are not allowed to wear Palestinian flags in their lapels

Even worse, they are only allowed to wear American flags on their uniforms. Imagine that! Delta airlines employees have meltdown over only being able to wear American flag pins instead of Palestinian pins. “They also implemented a new policy punishing all the flight attendants saying now we can only wear pins with the U.S. flag […]

Biden’s Own Party Forced Him Out On National Ice Cream Day

President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he was exiting the 2024 presidential race, and while the official letter came from his office, many said that the marching orders had come from a handful of high-dollar donors and prominent members of his own party. And as fate would have it — and as a number of people quickly pointed out via X — the president famous for his love of ice cream announced his plan to “stand down” and not accept the party’s nomination on National Ice Cream Day. “If Joe Biden dropping out on national ice cream day doesn’t prove we live in a simulation idk what will,” one posted. Manchin Considers Rejoining Democrats, Running For President: Reports

Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) is reportedly thinking about returning to the Democrats and running for the White House now that President Joe Biden has announced he would be ending his 2024 re-election bid. CNN’s Jake Tapper reported Sunday on X that sources close to Manchin said the senator is considering re-registering to the Democratic Party and “throwing his hat into the ring.” Sources close to Sen Joe Manchin, independent of WV, say he's considering re-registering as a Democrat and throwing his hat into the ring — Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 21, 2024 Sources also told NBC News that Manchin was considering a bid against Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the only declared candidate seeking the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination so far. He would be the first potential challenger to VP Kamala Harris. https://t.co/peDw9RrmdV pic.twitter.com/NSn9SUTGe3 — NBC News (@NBCNews) July 21, 2024 CBS News reporter Robert Costa said “some Democratic donors and officials are reaching out to Sen. Joe Manchin to consider standing for the presidential nomination, per two people familiar with the discussions.” Manchin is now considering re-registering as a Democrat to offer Democrats an alternative to VP Harris… per several sources familiar with the discussions… no final decision has been made but talks continue tonight in his inner circle — Robert Costa (@costareports) July 21, 2024 He added, “Manchin is now considering re-registering as a Democrat to offer Democrats an alternative to VP Harris… per several sources familiar with the discussions… no final decision has been made but talks continue tonight in his inner circle.” Manchin announced in November that he would not run for another Senate term in 2024 and then embarked on a listening tour in places around the United States while leaving open the possibility of a White House run. By mid-February, Manchin had declared that he would not be involved in a presidential campaign. There had been speculation about Manchin embarking on a third-party campaign with No Labels, which had been touting a prospective “Unity ticket,” but the group ended its search in early April without any challengers. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Manchin left the Democratic Party and became an independent in late May, saying at the time, “I have seen both the Democrat and Republican parties leave West Virginia and our country behind for partisan extremism while jeopardizing our democracy.” After saying neither party was willing to seek compromise, Manchin added, “To stay true to myself and remain committed to put country before party, I have decided to register as an independent with no party affiliation and continue to fight for America’s sensible majority.” Facing intense pressure from allies to drop out after a fumbling debate performance and concerns about his age and electability, Biden announced earlier on Sunday that he would be stopping his 2024 campaign to focus on the remainder of his term. Biden, who is 81, later said he was endorsing Harris to become the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. Harris is 59 years old while Manchin is 76. Former President Donald Trump, who is the GOP’s presidential nominee, is 78. Others quickly rallied behind Harris, but not everyone, including former President Barack Obama. Harris released a statement that said she intended to “earn and win” the nomination — possibly through an open convention in the next several weeks. Fox News anchor Bret Baier affirmed on X that Manchin “IS considering re-registering as a Democrat and throwing his hat into the ring for President -‘Even just to have the discussion of bringing the party back to the center.'” Independent Senator Joe Manchin IS considering re-registering as a Democrat and throwing his hat into the ring for President -“Even just to have the discussion of bringing the party back to the center”. He’ll be an exclusive guest on @SpecialReport tomorrow night. (H/t… — Bret Baier (@BretBaier) July 21, 2024 Manchin will be an “exclusive” guest on Baier’s show, “Special Report,” on Monday night, the anchor added.

CDC Asks People To Heat Counter-Prepared Deli Meats As They Trace A Listeria Outbreak

The CDC is investigating a serious listeria outbreak connected to counter-prepared deli meats. The Centers for Disease Control is working on a recall after receiving reports of two fatalities and dozens of hospitalizations that were linked to the meats. The organization is currently investigating the outbreak and will issue a formal recall once it can trace the source of the illness. According to CNN, consumers in New York, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, Virginia, Minnesota, North Carolina, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin have fallen ill. The CDC interviewed 18 people affected, and 16 of them said they ate turkey, liverwurst, or ham within the last month. DNA tests show the strain of Listeria was genetically similar, meaning they likely caught it from the same source. No one has fallen ill after eating pre-packaged meats. While the CDC continues its investigation, it asks people who bought meats from deli counters to cook the food before eating. Heating to 165 F will kill the bacteria. People should also be careful to clean countertops throughout after preparing the meat. This story’s featured image is by RFondren Photography via Shutterstock.
