The Californian Thrash Metal band Exodus announced they parted ways with their longtime vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza. He was a member of the band from 1986 to 1993, 2002 to 2004 and 2014 to 2025, being their main vocalist during the band's career. Exodus announce they parted ways with singer Steve 'Zetro' Souza "Announcement! EXODUS have parted ways with Steve 'Zetro' Souza. We thank Steve for his years fronting the band and all the killer music we made during that time. We wish him only the best in the future and much success with anything he does. "And please help us welcome Rob Dukes back to EXODUS! We are beyond stoked to have Rob back ripping up the stage with us and he's looking forward to crushing everything like only he can. "Next chapter begins, new record rolls along as planned and the beatings will continue. See you soon, EXODUS," the statement said. Tom Hamilton’s new band releases first song “Sound of a Train”

Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring last year due to Steven Tyler's vocal injury and the band's co-founder and bassist Tom Hamilton announced his new band called Close Enemies. The group even played live already but their first single was only released now and it's called "Sound of a Train". The track is part of their debut record that will be released next March. The group is also formed by Trace Foster (Guitar), Peter Stroud (Guitar), Tony Brock (Drums) and Chasen Hampton (Vocals). Hear "Sound of a Train", the first song of Tom Hamilton's new band Close Enemies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kK9CNBomTdc&pp=ygUeY2xvc2UgZW5lbWllcyBzb3VuZCBvZiBhIHRyYWlu In a recent interview with Guitar World Hamilton talked about the band, saying: “It was a punch in the gut finding our touring days are over. Maybe someday we (Aerosmith) can do something again, but it won’t be a tour. I’ve been keeping busy playing in a band we’re calling Close Enemies. We’ve recorded a bunch of killer songs and we’re getting closer to deciding how we’re going to put it out. Can’t wait!” Tom Hamilton said. Read the complete Aerosmith statement about retiring from touring: “It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history.” “It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.” “We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.” They continued “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.” “*For those who purchased their tickets through Ticketmaster, you will automatically be refunded – there is nothing further you need to do. For those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc. – please reach out to your point of purchase for more details,*” Aerosmith said. Rock stars’ reaction to David Lynch’s death

The influential American director David Lynch sadly passed away on January 16, 2025 at the age of 78. Known for his surrealistic and somber movies, he was praised for films like "The Elephant Man" (1980), "Eraserhead" (1977), "Veludo Azul" (1986), "Wild At Heart" (1990), "Lost Highway" (1997), "Mulholland Dr." (2001) and "Inland Empire" (2006). His TV series "Twin Peaks" also became a cult-following show. Although his death cause was not revealed, the director said last year that he was diagnosed with pulmonary emphysema due to smoking. As soon as the news of his death was shared by his family, many Rock stars paid a tribute to Lynch. Many of them had the chance to know the director and even work with him, like for example Sting who was in Lynch's version of "Dune" and Scott Ian who shot some scenes in "Lost Highway" but ended up out of the movie. Rock stars' reaction to David Lynch's death Billy Idol "Sad 2 of #davidLynch passing I loved a lot of his movies .. I suppose now we never get that director cut of his version of Dune!" Billy Idol said. Ringo Starr "God bless David Lynch, peace and love to all his family peace and love Ringo," the drummer said. Sting "David was a modern giant of the avant garde. I am so proud to have worked with him on the first Dune movie. Rest in peace," Sting said. Scott Ian (Anthrax) "David Lynch was a true gentleman as well as a brilliant filmmaker, writer and television visionary. I was privileged to know him and become friendly with him through my friend Jennifer Syme who worked for David. Through Jenn I got invited to cocktail parties at his house where he’d walk me through the utterly fascinating process of freezing and unfreezing ants." "He’d also accommodate my Twin Peaks fanboy quizzing, answering my questions in his loud Agent Gordon Cole voice. At some point David thought I looked like a death row inmate and cast me in Lost Highway. I’ve told the long version of the story before - short version, my scene didn’t make the final cut and David sent me the letter posted above. Like I said, he was a true gentleman. RIP David. 'Keep your eye on the donut and not the hole.' - David Lynch. PS I haven’t lived at that address since the 90s. Please don’t go bother whomever lives there now," Scott Ian said. Peter Wolf (J. Geils Band) "So sorry to hear of the passing of David Lynch. I remember him fondly when we roomed together as students at The Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. My condolences to his family," Peter Wolf said. David Bowie "RIP DAVID LYNCH 'And the rain sets in, It's the angel-man, I'm deranged...' We’re deeply saddened by the passing of David Lynch. You’ll be aware of his work through the incredible body of films he directed." "Bowie himself cited Lynch’s work as an influence and who could forget seeing DB as FBI Special Agent Phillip Jeffries, first introduced to viewers in Lynch’s 1992 prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, with further appearances by the special agent in Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces and Twin Peaks: The Return. 'In heaven, everything is fine...' Our lyric quotation is from I’m Deranged, two different edits of which appeared on the soundtrack of Lynch’s Lost Highway," David Bowie's estate said. Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran) "David Lynch was a creative superhero for me, from the moment I first saw his film Eraserhead as a teenager. His imagination, innovation, style and humour will remain an enormous inspiration. "Curious about the unknown and never afraid of a dark alley, he was an uncompromising, experimental artist, with a truly unique vision. Sadly, the weather today in California is stormy and there is no lucky number. Thank you, and goodnight David. May your dreams become evermore surreal," Nick said. Dhani Harrison (George Harrison's son) "Beautiful soul transcends 2025. " Dhani Harrison said. The post Rock stars’ reaction to David Lynch’s death appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.

The Beach Boys song that Brian Wilson wrote and calls his favorite

Formed in Hawthorne, California back in 1962 by the brothers Carl, Dennis and Brian Wilson, alongside their cousin Mike Love and their friend Al Jardine, the Beach Boys became one of the most influential bands of all time. They sold an estimated amount of more than 100 million records worldwide and changed the course of music after the release of their groundbreaking album "Pet Sounds" in 1966. The mastermind behind those classic records was Brian Wilson and between all the incredible songs he wrote, the musician once revealed which one is his favorite. The Beach Boys song that Brian Wilson wrote and calls his favorite In a video posted on his social media, the musician revealed that "California Girls," released as a single in 1965 and featured on their album "Summer Days", is his favorite song that he has written. Talking with Scott Simon in 2016 he explained: "Yeah, 'California Girls.' It's my favorite because of the bass. The bass line and the lyrics. I thought the lyrics were pretty good," Brian Wilson said. The song which had Mike Love as the lead vocalist became a hit really quick. It peaked at number 3 on the United States Billboard Hot 100, number 2 in Canada and number 1 in South Africa. Johann Sebastian Bach influenced the song according to Wilson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR2lvcdKSdU&pp=ygUQY2FsaWZvcm5pYSBnaXJscw%3D%3D Brian Wilson already knew that the legendary German classical composer Johann Sebastian Bach was an influence to the song's rhythm. In his biography "I Am Brian Wilson: A Memoir", the musician explained that the song started as an old cowboy movie. “The idea of ‘California Girls’ is that there’s this guy who thinks about girls all the time, so much that he starts to imagine all kinds. But there’s only one kind he really wants, and that’s the kind that’s right there at home." “The music started off like those old cowboy movies, when the hero’s riding slowly into the town, bum-ba-dee-dah. I was playing that at the piano after an acid trip. I played it until I almost couldn’t hear what I was playing, and then I saw the melody hovering over the piano part,” Brian Wilson said. He said that the intro to "California Girls" is the greatest piece of music he ever wrote Brian Wilson is considered one of the best songwriters of the history of music and wrote many incredible songs. Not only the lyrics, but especially the melody. In a 1993 interview with Capitol Records, Wilson said the intro of “California Girls” is the best piece of music he ever wrote. “Everybody was up (In the studio). The whole gang was there. It became my favorite session. The intro to this song is the greatest piece of music that I’ve ever written. I was looking for an introduction that would be totally different from the rest of the song but would lead into it. The song was a big record for us, but I really never liked anything but the intro.” “It was special, I knew that would become the theme song of the Beach Boys,” Wilson told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s an anthem. That song went to №3 in the country. I think if anything, that song speaks louder than ever. Everyone knows about California girls, and that song is the reason,” Brian Wilson said. "California Girls" continues as one of The Beach Boys' signature songs and even became a hit again in the 80s with the praised David Lee Roth version. The post The Beach Boys song that Brian Wilson wrote and calls his favorite appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.

?? Biden announces a $770 one off payment to the victims of the California fires ?

UTL COMMENT:- $10's of billions to Ukraine and Israel. $5 million to the victims of these horrendous fires. .....Well I guess that's fair enough. ? Insurance companies have taken away their fire insurance just weeks before the fire and now this. Once again their own government just like in Australia and the Western countries doesn’t help their own people, with practically nothing while giving billions to other countries to fight useless wars.
