tvOS 18 is Apple TV's upcoming software update, which will launch alongside iOS 18. Once again, 2024 looks like a packed year for Apple TV users, as Apple is working on several new functions for its set-top box. While I recently wrote about the 10 best tvOS 18 features coming to your Apple TV, there are three features that really stand out on the Apple TV with iOS 18: InSight: An Amazon Prime Video-like feature that displays timely information about actors, characters, and music from Apple TV+ movies and shows onscreen in real-time. Users can select an actor to view their background and filmography page or quickly view the song that is playing in a scene and add it to an Apple Music playlist. Enhance Dialogue: This feature is getting smarter, leveraging machine learning and computation audio to deliver greater vocal clarity over music, action, and background noise on Apple TV 4K. In addition to HomePod speakers, users can now enjoy Enhance Dialogue when listening through built-in TV or HDMI-connected speakers, AirPods, and other Bluetooth-connected devices, and when playing supported content on iPhone and iPad; Automatic subtitles: Subtitles now automatically appear at just the right moments with tvOS 18, including when the language in a show or film does not match the device language, when users mute, or when they skip back while watching something. While Enhance Dialogue is available in all streaming services, I really love the new automatic subtitles feature. It's so useful when the show briefly changes the main language or when the audio feels too low, and I have to go back to understand what was just said. Even though these features are still in beta, they've worked great for me, and they're making my experience with Apple TV+ originals even better. Fortunately, you can try tvOS 18 before it officially comes out. You just need to open the Settings App, choose Software Update, and change to the beta version. Google on Thursday announced several new AI features for the Chrome browser. That includes new Google Lens functionality that works just like the Circle to Search feature Google brought to smartphones this year. Google unveiled Circle to Search in early January as an exclusive feature for Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24 phones. Since then, more Android phones have received it, including the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. With Circle to Search, you can invoke Google Assistant and perform an internet search by drawing a circle on the screen. Circle to Search can be incredibly useful. It lets you search the web for anything on your display, whether images or text. You can even pause videos to search for something you saw in them. Google Lens will now give you similar capabilities in Chrome, in the same way that you can use Circle to Search on iPhone. Excavations in a Greco-Roman period necropolis from the ancient city of Tios, in northern Turkey, marks the culmination of a three-year archaeological dig, aimed at significant revitalization of the area. So far, 96 sarcophagi, 23 chamber tombs, seven cist graves, 60 tile graves, and 1,317 inventory items have been uncovered, with the archaeologists noting that Tios retains its unique status as the only ancient city in the Black Sea region that remains unencumbered by modern settlements! Unparalleled Necropolis: A Planned Cemetery Located in Zonguldak's Filyos town within the Çaycuma district of northern Turkey, the dig has been spearheaded by Professor Şahin Yıldırım, chair of the department of art history at Bartin University. He’s been aided by a dedicated team of 44 individuals actively involved in the excavation process. Yıldırım emphasized the unprecedented nature of the necropolis area, unparalleled by any other ancient city in the region. He explains in a quote from Daily Sabah: "In the initial work done in this area, which we can also call the eastern necropolis of Tios, we encountered a vast necropolis area stretching from the late fifth century BC to the fifth century AD. The primary identity of this necropolis in the city dates back to the first and third centuries AD, that is, to the Roman period. We see that this area was constructed as a planned cemetery. The word necropolis means 'city of the dead.' We have seen that the cemetery here was created with a structure consisting of streets, alleys and terraces, just like a city."
